Pros: I liked that it was close to the highway because there weren''t many business in the area.
Cons: I did not like that I could see paint on the carpets in the halls. Also my room wasnt done being painted before I check in. Some spaces were halfway done. Hotel will probably be nice once they'are done but they should totally finish jobs
4.6 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: BEWARE!!! This property charges $20 ADDITIONAL per night for pets. They do not disclose this on the reservation. I’ve stayed at this La Quinta before and was not charged but the “new owner” has made this the policy. Also, my confirmation said $239.45 for two nights and that was the pending charge but when the charge posted it was $259.45 + the other $20 for “pets”. I was told as a courtesy it would only be $20 for the entire stay. Beware of their “executive rooms” as well. The air conditioners don’t work and the room was muggy and hot. They sent a maintenance man up who “made some noise” and said it was the size of the room. We were given a different room for the second night and it was better but still hot in JANUARY. The breakfast was horrible and very limited selection compared to other La Quinta’s. Next time we will board our dog for the $20 and stay at a better managed, maintained property. I would highly recommend NOT staying here. Overcharged and underwhelmed.

Pros: The desk attendant was really friendly. She made the place seem more homey than I usually expect. The room was huge and very clean. I never felt like I was having a 3-star experience, more like 4!
5.4 Okay
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: There was no desk chair for the desk and I use this in every hotel I stay at. As soon as we got in our room and settled my husband went down to see about one. The check in lady was all sweet at check in. Now she played dumb when my husband asked about a chair. She said I don’t know how a chair is not there! Didn’t offer to let us have one from another room, just looked at him. Went down for breakfast, 20 minutes had do not disturb tag on door, took off when we returned. We left for the day shortly after and smiled and said hello to housekeeping just down the hall. We had left a written note on the bed asking for just the bathroom refreshed and left a tip, too! When we returned in the evening nothing had been done to our room. The do not disturb means do not disturb ONLY if it is still on the door. My husband had to go downstairs and deal with the same weird check in lady to ask for towels. Second morning at breakfast the help was standing around talking instead of servicing/ cleaning the breakfast area. Coffee supplies were depleted and the 2% milk pitcher was empty. We had been on a 10 day trip with the last 2 nights at your hotel. Take some tips from the Best Western in Boerne. That hotel had fantastic staff that cared and it showed!!!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a modest hotel with modest facilities. Our room was spacious enough with a comfortable bed and good shower. The breakfast was reasonable, but not outstanding. It's about 3 miles outside Luling right next to the I10 so it's a good option if you need a 1 night stopover. The lady that checked us in was really friendly and helpful!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We love the Longhorn atmosphere and decor since we are all UT grads and stay there after attending the UT home games! Hook Em!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff friendly. Rooms and property clean. Nice hotel for Luling, second time staying here. Breakfast not the best, but coffee was good. Would stay here again when in town.

These folks thought of all the little extras from bug spray for your hikes, to binoculars to use while on property, s’mores kits, and ice waters just about every where for guests. The grounds were kept pristine and you could all the amazing detail and love the staff puts into this place for your stay.
Cons: That we couldn’t stay longer.

Pros: Very friendly staff and food was very good

7.1 Good
Pros: We have been coming to Sage Hill Inn/Inn Above Onion Creek for over 15 years. It is usually such a great getaway experience for couples. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the setting is beautiful and peaceful.
Cons: Breakfast and dinner have always been included in the cost, and since they are usually delicious, and the Inn is far from any restaurants, it's usually worth it. However, on this visit, the food was awful. I don't know what's happened. Since you pay a significant up-charge for the meals over a regular hotel or B & B this is extremely disappointing. In addition, the obnoxious practice of presenting you with a "bill" for your dinner has been introduced so that a gratuity can be collected, and now some menu items incur an upcharge. Example: you can only have scrambled eggs for breakfast. If you want them boiled, fried, etc. that's $6. It's funny how these little things have changed an experience that used to make us feel so catered for to making us question whether it's worth it to pay $500 a night for this place. Getting a fake bill that your sub-par dinner was $100 to get a gratuity for the staff does introduce that question, and on this visit, it was resoundingly - no. In addition, over the past few years, the Inn has added additional properties that cater to large groups. On this visit, we had to deal with not one but two "girls getaway" groups who were staying in the other properties but yet dominated the pool and porches at the inn with loud and obnoxious conversation and behavior day and night. This used to be such a peaceful and serene retreat and it is no longer that way. As we were leaving, we noticed more outlying properties being built - hideous little cabins that look like single-wide trailers. There is no doubt that as the Inn expands the pool and the property will get more and more crowded and this will make it less and less an enjoyable experience for anyone who really wanted a getaway. I can't recommend this place anymore due to these issues.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Property was beautiful. Second floor porch and outdoor fireplace were so relaxing.
Cons: Although it was nice having food included for breakfast and lunch, we were disappointed in selection and taste.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The area was great, the staff very friendly, and the scenery wonderful. Deer would wander up to our cabin at night, and there are many wineries, distilleries, breweries, and even a cidery nearby.
Cons: I understand there is a small staff on board, but there were some mix ups at the restaurant when ordering dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Property was great and we enjoyed our relaxing visit.
Cons: The restaurant was nice but not amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Great hiking trails, loved the fire pit, best view from our balconies East and West, deer roaming around, well kept grounds and all beautifully landscaped especially for winter.
Cons: Nothing!

Cons: We use to stay here a lot, but it has gone way down hill.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Was comfortable and A/C was wonderful. Loved that there was shelves for luggage.
Cons: Couldn't get pizza delivered.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The room was clean and large enough to be comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the bed was comfortable, there was a round table with 2 chairs that was useful, had a mini-fridge and a flat screen tv. The man at the front desk was polite and pleasant to deal with, even when we had to bother him late in the evening when our card key wouldn't work. It's obvious some updating had been done as the sink counter top was granite.
Cons: The building is old and the walls, baseboards and the water-damaged (or something) credenza showed it. The shower surround needed fresh silicone where it joined the tub as that was black and moldy-looking. The upholstered seats of the chairs at the table were torn and dirty. There was no wifi. The air conditioner worked fine, but was noisy--I kept thinking it was noisy trucks going by, but it was just the unit. Luling, where this motel is located, has oil refineries or something nearby that reek of sulpher--even inside the room. (That's not the motel's fault, of course, but it was still unpleasant and it was really bad once we walked outside in the mornings.)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great
6.3 Good
Pros: We stopped because we were on a motorcycle and it was raining. There don’t have a washer or dryer for guests but they did dry some of our wet clothes for us.
Cons: When opening the door there was an odor that thankfully once we turned on the air the odor disappeared. The blanket and sheets had cigarette burn holes in them. The carpet felt dirty to bare feet.
4.6 Okay
Cons: Room in front of ice maschine, very loud all night. The room/wall/bath/fridge was dirty. Found open beer in fridge.
