The location is excellent (just behind the Tate Museum & the MI-5 HQ, as well as only a couple of minutes away from the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey). Tube stations are 10min.+ away, but the area is well covered by buses. The common spaces look clean and modern and the staff is friendly and polite (but nothing "over the top", though). If you manage to get a good deal, it could be a very affordable hotel in the middle of London. I paid £550 for 5 nights, but a few days before or a few days after my stay and I could've easily paid around £1,200 for the same number of nights in the same period - mid-August.
The rooms are a bit outdated and could do with a fresh coat of paint and some new carpeting at the very least. The design is also very simple and minimal, which gives an overall "basic" feeling. Some refurbishment would go a long way in improving the comfort of guests and would justify some of the heftier rates charged by the hotel (probably off the back of the hotel's premium location rather than room comfort and facilities).
It was clean and the staff were friendly however the window in my room did not feel secure and I was there during storm Denis I did not feel safe in my room but when I called reception they were happy to move me to a new room
I was not aware there was work going on in the hotel until I arrived I was there to work all day Sunday and Monday was my rest day but unfortunately it wasn’t due to drilling and hammering if I had have know I would have booked one of their sister hotels as I find the doubletree very nice I just would have liked to have know prior to my booking
Good breakfast selection and tea/coffee service was quite prompt. Good location and easy to find from Pimlico tube station (5 min walk). We arrived around 8.30am and to our surprise one out of the 3 rooms we had booked as a group was ready which was much appreciated.
Bathrooms were dated
Location ok if you dont mind walking
First room offered had windows with broken locks.Staff moved us to an upgrade. The bathroom sink overflow needed a good clean.looked disgusting. Some of the electrical sockets didn't work.Toliet flush a bit hit and miss.Rooms looked tired and in need of refurbishment. Checkout day it states 12 midday checkout. At 09.20hrs a housekeeper knocked the door and asked if we were ready to check out.i informed her we were going for breakfast then we would checkout.Felt like they wanted us to checkout earlier.
