Hotel is right on the boardwalk with very nice restaurant (voucher for 1/2 price breakfast0 on 1st floor for people watching and of course the beach and ocean. We were upgraded to an ocean view room (no. 12) which was very nice with small living room, kitchenette, and wonderful queen bed. Parking was only about 150 feet to south (overnight $25). Kyle (manager) and Jose (who checked us in) were gracious and made sure we had what we needed. We even got a temporary parking by hotel after we checked out. Rented bicycles only 3 doors away; basically well situated to beach activities, dining, and not too far from Santa Monica pier. We liked everything, but would caution that there is no elevator. While there is a halfway house across the alley, we had no issues nor did we see anything untoward. The real spectacle is on boardwalk.
the view the restaurant was bad . poor service, hostess is so lazy
the suite was awesome! The rooftop bar was great. Blankets were clutch. Friendly staff!
The hotel is realy gret. Great staff, wonderful instalations..... So I really could live there. The price and the cost to park, once the garage is inside the building of the hotel.
Miguel was fabulous and helped us in many ways, he went above and beyond. The entire staff was friendly and helpful The music on the roof did keep us up, and the ear plugs cost money
It was close and convenient to my son who lives in Venice. Stayed there in Dec. in the newer rooms on the top floor which was much nicer than the room I had this time. Also, I think the 6th. floor room was about the same price as the room where I was this time.(5th floor) Yes, I opened the sliding door during the night for some fresh air. It was difficult to sleep because of the noise(homeless sleeping in the alley) that my room overlooked.
We loved the new and greatly designed rooms, as well as the young atmosphere of the hotel. The rooftop bar will take off - it is a great place. We will be back! The staff needs some more time together to make everything run smoothly. But they were always very nice and friendly - thanks for a great time with you!
The tiny sign on the door entrance in the corner.. Stating that there were chemicals in the building from which you could get cancer from.. Was not clear when I book the hotel that the building is a health risk.
Hotel Erwin is perfectly located on Venice beach, the staff is excellent, restaurant serves excellent breakfasts, nothing to complain about.
Great location, very new, and very nice staff! Perfect place in Venice.
Was given great upgrade; rooftop is fantastic Absolutely everything was great!
We were planning to have our short, informal ceremony on the beach and then enjoy the rooftop; but, our view was so amazing, we had our ceremony right on our patio deck! Also, when I mentioned to Billy that we were getting married that day, he sent a bottle of champagne to our room! Unbelievable guest service! We will recommend the Erwin to friends & family.
The closeness to the beach and water and how close we were to Venice beach all the interesting people and places we saw was just amazing can't wait to come again The only thing I didn't really like was the view from our room
We stayed here with a couple friends for a birthday weekend celebration. Jesenia was really nice and calles us when we were able to check in early. The rooms were great. My cousin checked in early but didn't get the king bed she booked. So later she called Jeff and was able to get a better room. A suite! The rooftop lounge during the day was great. The bartenders was nice. At nighttime, the waitress we had was btichy. The lounge areas were nice but even for hotel fuests we had to reserve on opentable.com. the problem was we had a big group. They provide blankets so thats a plus but we didn't stay up there long. Lastly, Valet/parking was $32!
Kitchen Too loud. Young people manage the place and don't care. Elevators broken!!! Can't go outside the hotel, too many homeless people around the outside of hotel.Never again!
Beautiful room, great location, friendly staff. Would definitely recommend. Parking was inconvenient.
If you're looking for Venice Beach, the location is perfect. Unfortunately, the place as a whole is a little worse for wear, especially at $220/night. Reception feels more like a $40/night hostel than a hotel, bedding and couch both looked not entirely clean and there was mold and mildew all over the bathroom floor and walls.
Venice is what it is too many bums but venice breeze suites are very clean and nice and rooftop is great
Closeness to the beach and beach walk.We were near the action and still felt safe. I really liked the windows and airiness, the chairs at the end of the hall looking out over the beach. Not really a complaint, the parking was a little difficult but that was to be location-location. Good restaurants.
I did not see any live bugs; only dead ones. Room looked nothing like the pictures. Level of maintenance was abysmal. Linens were not commensurate with price of hotel.
location and friendliness of the staff. Lack of secure parking
Brayant was extremely helpful and friendly
Great hotel. We turned up at 11am and got checked into our room straight away. The room was clean and had comfortable beds (a luxury after 2 weeks staying in hostels). Hotel staff were helpful and polite.
people were extremely professional and friendly. place excellent. good for vacation.room essential.
Small hotel but great area 47 rooms 18 parking spaces
The location is absolutely perfect, if you're after Venice Beach. Venice is certainly not for everyone and is a little edgy, but I loved it. I stayed in two different rooms during my stay and saw another one and it is true what the owners say - they have completely renovated every room. The rooms were very comfortable and the views are amazing. There is a little outside noise, but nothing that kept me awake at night. All in all I give it a 10 out of 10. Slight outdoor noise, but really nothing too bad.
I got a view of the beach from my room which was amazing! needs more toiletries and small things like a notepad and pen and info about what there is to do in Venice and santa monica in the hotel rooms. More pillows.
very helpful staff, they know the area and places to see
Right on the beach, great staff, restaurants and bars within walking distance. The downside of being ON Venice Beach is the screaming homeless outside your Windows at all hours. Also, the hotel walls are THIN. Not the place to stay for a good night's sleep
We are on the beach! Wanted to move to a ocean view, the staff moved us the next day with an opening.
Only that it was on the beach......................... No parking onsite, no air conditioner, rooms were not as clean as should be ( m&m's under the bed), no screens on the windows,..................................
The staff was friendly but the room was extremely frightening. Bring your own tarps to cover the carpet cause the carpet was Stained and has strong smell of animal urination. Better off sleeping in the hallways than sleeping in the hotel room itself.
Location was excellent - fronts on Venice Beach and bike path. New renovation and design was excellent. Bathroom design is spacious, functional and attractive. We liked the secure storage for our touring bicycles. Restaurants and cafes nearby. No air conditioning. This wasn't a problem but it could be when it is hot .
Great Location and staff and fellow travelers
The people at the lodge were really amazing. They were friendly and could answer a lot of questions. Dom is the events coordinator there at the hostel and he used to take everyone out for nightly events which allowed poeple to interact with each other. There were people from many different countries and it was interesting to share their perspective on things. The beachside views was fantastic. The music around reminds you of san Francisco in the 60's. They also have free breakfast in the morning, a separate room if you want to store huge luggage and a common room where people from different rooms can talk to each other during the day. At $35 per night, i think that its a good deal compared to the expensive hotels in LA The spring beds were really not that comfortable. I didn't get much sleep. Also there is just 1 shared bathroom for 8 rooms which could get cramped up somtimes. Add to that, those bathrooms get clogged often. I also had to struggle in getting the door open as the key would not fit in completely. The vending machine is out of order.
Ir was ok for a budget place didnt feel too safe in the hotel surroundings in the night...
