Good parking in central Bristol. The late breakfast buffet up to midday on Sunday. Comfortable rooms. The swimming pool area and changing rooms are quiet small. Not quiet as nice as expected based on other hotels we have visited with leisure facilities..
the bar The staff at the check in desk seemed poorly trained, they didn't acknowledge the person checking in if they werwe waiting, it would have been nice for somebody to sya, I'll be with you in a momment.
Location Lounge was very cold at times, no saucers with tea cups felt cheap. Beds/pillows were bit uncomfortable. Customers staying at the hotel should not have to pay £5 per day for Parking,
Everything was fine.
The guy who answered the phone to the restaurant was very cheery and helpful. Found it hard to find, when we put the postcode in the satnav it showed 'no route found'. This could be an effect of not updating satnav. When we found it eventually, I walked through the entrance near the restaurant, not knowing where the reception was I tried to ask the 2 two doormen who had their bodies facing me but heads turned to each other. I had to wait whilst they finished their conversation before they greeted and directed me. Didn't give good first impression. The reception was frustrating. We had booked a smoking room and were told that there were no more smoking rooms. The receptionist found this funny as he kept laughing and mumbling to himself. When we got in the room there was a 2" thick line of dust and dirt around the edge
very comfortable bed!! good menu selection in the restaurant bathroom too small, lack of drawers in bedroom
When we first arrived some of the night staff was not welcoming , but the day staff were excellent, a lot of information was not given to us when we booked in it was the day staff that inform us of what we need to know.
Nothing stands out Incredibly over priced. Facilities no better than a travelodge but at double the price. The bed moved all over the place. The shower was a slow trickle. Rubbish.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was cleaner than i expected for such a large hotel.
easy check in and check out. food was good bathroom could do with updating.Having to pay for television even regular channels
I enjoyed the pool and the service and the breakfast buffet I thought that supper was overpriced and was not ideal for fussy eater children. my daughter was limited to pasta which turned out to be spicy although I thought it was nice
Complimentary wine, flatscreen tv, comfy bed, dressing gown/slippers, iron, access to pool and gymn, secure parking. There was a intermitent resonance caused by some sort of pump/machinery that went on all through the night. It would last for thirty seconds then off for two minutes, then on another 30 seconds... This led to disturbed night's sleep.
Quiet location. Convenient formotorway. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast, attentive waiters.Well appointed, comfortable, warm room. No problems
Booking in very helpful staff and pleasant, comfortable room, pleasant bar area informal atmosphere. Felt that more staff should have been available for morning breakfast service as staff were very overstretched. However, the staff on duty were all very pleasant despite the circumstances.
The staff were very friendly and courteous. It was close to the conference centre we were visiting. The room was very poor quality, and uncomfortable. The shower didnt work properly. There was no drinking water in the room. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, we only had one small hard pillow each. At breakfast in the mornings it was impossible to get adequate drinks, as there was only one waitress serving coffee out of a tiny pot, and that had to do 100 people. It certainly did not live up to our expectations of a hotel in the Hilton chain, and we won't be returning.
Lovely breakfast staff Toilet did not flush properly
Excellent facilities Bar meal was over priced for what I orderd certainly would not pay it again.
The room itself the service in the restaurant was shocking I have filled in the feed back form at the hotel.
Friendly staff and excellent breakfasts. Room, particularly the bathroom, looked a bit weary.
Fantastic room, clean tidy and modern. Leisure facilities working, staff very helpful. Breakfast plentiful and value for money Bar prices expensive. £17 for 3 drinks....
easy to find and close to town
The bedrom was brilliant and had everyone you could need and so comfortable the corridoors, general foyer etc very clinical not 'warm/cosy'
The location of the hotel was perfect for getting around perfectly, little walk to the pubs and restaurants, and also far away for a lot of piece and quiet! Was a few bits of old food under the bed, only found this out as was looking for dropped coins
Staff were very helpfull. If returning late to the hotel the car park was often full and I had to park elsewhere.
Liked the rooms also room service prices for wine was not to bad. Would stay at the City Inn Bristol again Charge for parking
Staff were friendly. Hotel room was lovely. Very quiet. It was difficult to find the hotel car park. It could be better signposted. Otherwise everything good.
The imac facility in the rooms is first rate and definately a cut above most Distance from main centre
The friendliness and efficiency of the staff, the facilities in the room (iMac), the quality of the choice at breakfast I find the prices a bit steep at certain times for a single traveller (often nearly £100 a day). There seems to be an assumption that all customers will be couples or friends sharing a twin room and there is no reduction for single occupancy of a double room. I would ask the hotel to consider this.
The young lady on reception was very friendly and helpful The lift was broken - other guests warned us not to use it
Clean modern hotel. The rooms were much smaller than expected, as were the breakfasts.
The rooms were very modern
Very good hotel, cheap with friendly staff Checking out on Sunday was a bit difficult as we had to wait in reception for someone to get to the desk for about 10 minutes
Pleasant host Totally overpriced and exploited clients during the Ryder Cup
Staff polite. Beds clean, room tidy Bad smell coming from the bathroom in the room and worse smell from the toilets in the bar
Great shower, ideal location for our visit to Caerleon. Manager was friendly, helopful and informative. Our room was warm, spacious and clean. We had been put off beforehand by guest reviews on the internet but it was too late to cancel our trip. Our experience was much better than expected from the reviews. Some of the comments by other guests were helpful and others were unfair. We found TV reception poor.
Comfortable room Floor boards exremely noisy- squeaked under every footstep -weird!
I found the management to be extremely nice and helpfull, and in general a very upbeat and frindly attitude None
Very welcoming staff, were happy to help and give ideas on what to do in the area. The room was a nice size, great size bathroom and everything was clean and tidy. Beds comfortable, nice big towels. Handy having the spar across the road and easy, convenient parking directly opposite hotel entrance. Some people may think the decor etc is ugly and old, but we thought it just gave it a bit of character.
Rooms are very nice and beds are very clean too. Staff is very helpful in guiding and travel planning etc Room is very clean, Bathroom is very clean but there is a kind of bad odour in bathroom.
Staff were very accomodating, and the airport transfer service is very good value for money.
nice hotel good views. no cooked breakfast
Rather difficult to find. They need a sign to the hotel off the main road
The surroundings, setting and general ambience of the hotel. Its location wasnt really where I needed to be (but thats not the hotel's fault!).
Very helpful & polite staff Having to go out of the building to access the Bedroom annex
The hotel was very clean and comfortable - the staff were very friendly - I liked the fact that the food was sourced locally as far as possible and that the coffe in the room was Fairtrade
Really friendly staff. Family room was just perfect for 2 adults & children aged 9 - 13. Nice location. Whole hotel very relaxed, clean and ideal for our short stay. The children loved the garden! Menu was a very limited, but the food available was tasy.
Welcoming friendly and attentive staff. Comfortable room, excellent restaurant. Close to Bristol airport with facility to leave the car and to be transported to and from the airport.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The rooms very clean and with modern equipment, such as walk in shower, flatscreen freeview TV
It was a lovely end to a perefect holiday for us. The comfortable and spotless room
The breakfast The design between old and new does not quite work
Very old coaching inn in a small village. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a very good choice of food which was excellent.
Excellent menu and good real ales
the food was fantasic, the staff very friendly, nice touches like fresh flowers in the room, home baked shortbred biscuits!!!!1 The room was very small
The relaxed but professional atmosphere. Easy to find
The food was good and reasonably priced for the quality. Staff were friendly and swiftly dealt with a small error on the bill.
There was a sense of slightly old world charm about the place. It had a great slightly more formal restaurant with a more comfortable lounge bar to eat in (go for the latter & sit by the fire if its cold outside!). The room was quiet, comfortable & had everything you need (apart from fluffy towelling dressing gowns, hint hint!). The shower was also good & hot. Lack of hot water from the sink in the bathroom (I wanted to have a shave but couldnt get anything above lukewarm) plus the TV had an odd assortment of channels - it had the basic 5 but not all the other freeview channels and I wanted to watch something on BBC3. They could also do with more wait staff in the lounge as people were rushed off their feet!
The ambience of the Beaufort Arms was very welcoming. Appreciated the beautifully preserved historical features and gorgeous location. Particularly enjoyed our candlelit supper infront of the roaring fire (chocolate fondant was divine!)
I was upgraded and felt the room we had was value for money---I think the Old Stables Rooms are overpriced at £75.00 No complaints---everything was fine and we were well looked after
Good food. warm and friendly service. Service rather slow which I suspect was due to lack of staff and having to serve in two rooms, both the restaurant and the bistro. There was also a lack of a residents lounge from which to drink your after dinner coffee.
Very central, excellent location for shopping! The hotel andcommunal areas are clean and stylish. Check in staff were very pleasant. the room was clean and stylish, the bed extremely comfortable. the view from the floor to ceiling windows give a great view over the city (15th floor) and make for a very light and bright room. None.
Central situation in Bristol, proximity with the airport in Stansed Stupid customer occasioned fire alarm at 4 am!!!!
Brand new hotel so overall facilities were impressive. Room was large with excellent views. Good sized bathroom. Lifts not all working so long delays going up to 11th floor. Some of fittings in bedroom badly designed E.G. flexible light next to bed had already worked loose, wardrobe door wouldn't open fully due to hitting room door closer.
Great location for city. Room on sixteenth floor with floor to ceiling window and amazing view. Pleasant room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Reasonably good breakfast buffet. Gym poorly equipped.
Public areas spacious, breakfast good. Lifts not working, poor lighting in room, food left in corridor - not worthy of a hotel in this category.
The location near the river. Perhaps a little difficult to locate by car! Unfortunately the heating wasn't working on the 1st floor where my room was allocated. No-one offered a heater of any kind and it was extremely cold weather. I had to request milk as there was non available in the room to make a drink when I arrived after a long journey.
Good sized rooms - clean and well cared for None
I asked for a quiet room... I got it. Reception staff extremely efficient and friendly and professional. I liked the colours in the bedroom, appreciated having a bath .. useful in a city to relax.. and beds were comfy. car park was a bit tight with pillars, but I was glad to have it!!
Large bed, nice view, new room.
Well located on Broad Quay, close to Bristol waterfront, good restaurants within walking distance, walkable to main shpppoing district of Bristol. We booked two rooms, one for 3 people, the other for 2. The hotel placed the extra bed in by far the smaller of the two rooms and the rooms were six floors apart. The larger room, although very comfortable, absolutely stank of cigarette smoke. We were oiffered a small discount on checkout, but this should have been picked up by housekeeping and the room not allocated.
Very comfortable bed unqualified staff - there were party in the rooms all the night impossible to sleep.
front desk people were very helpful. great location can't think of anything
Good quality, central for Bristol. It was not an easy hotel to stay at. Examples, car park was complexed, door card cleared iteself at 11am (check out 12), gym was across road.
The hotel was lovely. At arrival the lady at the reception was very nice and welcoming. She (same lady) was also very kind and friendly on the day I was leaving. Both nights at the bar downstairs the staff was very friendly and professional. This actually saved my weekend. I have got a premier room which was very good size, however it was very cold! Being there in October i would've thought the heating would be on. So unfortunately it was very uncomfortable and on the other downside, the water wasn't hot in the bathroom! So it was a very cold weekend for me. Also 2 out of the 3 lamps didn't work (the 2 bedside ones -which is a shame as I like to read in bed), in fact their power plugs were different style than the standard UK ones so I wondered how they plug them in anyway?? And the last thing, which is i know not the hotel's fault, but it was quite upsetting as both nights I stayed, my nextdoor guests were constantly drunk and very loud till 4-5am! So all together unfortunately it wasn't a relaxing weekend.
Lack of internet connection services and small room
Clean, nice location
Very nice location in the old part of the city centre. The hotel is cosy and well-functioning. There was a minibar in the room but it was both empty and locked. I asked could it be opened in order to put there some juice for the morning but that was not possible, since "the locks don't open very well". I suggest the minibars should be removed if they don't serve any purpose...
very good location for city centre In one room none of the power sockets worked, in another the toilet seat wasn't fixed on. when we complained the staff were very unhelpful. Very few good english speaking staff
soft wide bed thin walls to corridor, so noisy late revellers disturbed us. Hotel staff did reproach them though, so not their fault.
Helpful staff, location
it's central Absolutely awful night, sent to very shabby single room right above function rooms. party below so loud the furniture in the room vibrated until 1am. Then at 7am neighbours put tv on clearly audible through paper thin walls. worst night I have ever spent in a hotel.
None Car parking is the main problem with this hotel - completely inadequate. Also the price is far too high for what's on offer - the rooms don't even have carpet.
It was cheap and cheerful the staff were helpful and efficient. The breakfast was not very good.
Comfortable and nice getaway Layout of the breakfast was unclear arrived for my pre paid breakfast at 10 30 to be told it had finished even thouhg late riser breakfast was still being served I didn't get my full english !! plus an earful from the missus for getting up late so a more precise layout of the menu explantion and what is consists of would be useful.
Close to train station, Weatherspoons round the corner, rooms nice and big. Difficult at first to figure out how to access the hotel due to current building work No twin rooms or ability to add extra beds despite there being enough room
it was so handy to get to train station not to far of walk to city shopping and not to far from the main bar area none
The hotel was easy to find and very near Temple Meads railway station making it ideal for a quick one night stop-off. The room was comfortable, on-suite, clean and spacious. Slight noise from trains as room was front-facing.
Excelllent room, staff very obliging, breakfast more varied than expected. Unable to access a hairdryer on two out of the three occasions we asked for one at reception. Ibis need either to have hairdryers in the rooms or have more available at the desk, customers were not returning them after use as requested seemingly.
clean and comfortable Poor parking!! This is a major issue and means we wont use again - we couldnt have breakfast on Sunday morning as we had to go and move the car before 9am. Only good if coming by train.
The hotel was convenient to the station and the airport bus for an early morning flight.
Bathroom facility excellent, clean and comfortable with good service and breakfast with really pleasant and helpful staff. Although it was known that the hotel had air con trouble, this was not made known until arrival. A hotel next to a main station with the only option to sleep with open windows in order to facilitate airflow is noisy and poor value for money. I will not recommend or book there again.
The hotel was very easy to find. My room was well decorated and spotlessly clean. The food in the restaurant was excellent, and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Very impressed!
Location to my business meetings
The decor and cleanliness of the guest rooms and the public rooms particularly the dining room. The friendliness and courtesy of all the staff Nothing
The helpfullness and friendliness of the staff
The food was excellent The rooms/furniture was old and dated
The breakfast, closeness to a local pub, quietness, but most of all that they accept dogs.. Even the executive rooms are rather small as are the T.V's.
5th time of staying - which says it all NA
The staff were first class, friendly and hospitable. Even though there was a wedding reception taking place at the time we were there they made sure that we were well taken care of. The food was excellent. The hotel has a warm hospitable feel about it. The executive double was a bit on the small side.
Polite friendly staff. No problem with serving breakfast a little earlier than advertised on Sunday morning. Thermostat was set rather high so had rather a hot night.
Seemed to be a small family run hotel and staff were very friendly.
Once you have arrived, it is a rather hassle free experience. The place is clean and just off the main road which is nice. Very hard to find the lodge. Came in from the other direction as I followed GPS instructions and only found the place after looking at other reviews to turn at the plane. Receptionist was rather rude after I explained that it was hard to find, as if I was stupid.
Very good food. Very friendly Area surrounding hotel a little basic
Good size room, nice bed and very nice on suite bathroom. Clean hotel. Breakfast whilst well cooked was basic. Ordered a newspaper but it never appeared. Tv was untuned with on 2 channels visible. Directly opposite Newport Port and main road
Excellent room, service and breakfast Not located in a very good part of the city
terry and bob could not have been more helpful and the main bar and restaurant is an absolute credit to them they have many awards for their hotel and from my stay totally deserve it
Room was clean, spacious and warm. Restuarant looked great but didnt have chance to eat there Location was a bit off putting
Great and friendly staff at the reception, had special taxi deals available
The friendliness of the staff and they have excellent local knowledge nothing at all it was all perfect
The quality of the room anad the helpfulness of the receptionist
A friendly welcome and great attetiveness from staff and proprietors.Food was excellent as always. Maybe £100 per night is just above international averages.
Friendly staff, good food, secure parking, good location, and comfortable bed. Nothing comes to mind.
perfect hotel, perfect location, perfect for everything
housekeeping staff receptionists waiters and waitresses all very nice
The room was nice, great to have both shower and bath. Reasonably good tv and channels, location was great - near all the best riverside bars and restaurants. Parking was very expensive (£19 for up to 24 hrs). Woke up to the builders from the site next door throwing concrete down a shute, not great. Toiletries very average.
Location, Rate, helpfullness of staff, style of room and bathroom Thought price of breakfast quite expensive
Beautiful room in a beautiful hotel! Very modern and comfortable, the bathroom was exquisite with a lovely big bath. We were supplied with massive dressing gowns too. Nice big tv, very comfortable bed. Lovely bar area downstairs.
breakfast was good and good value the blankets were a bit tired
Upgrade for £10 to Superior room with riverside views and little extras TV in bathrooms, bathrobes, also some fab dining near by made weekend really special Nothing
Comfortable clean room
An excellent stop over on our way to Wales. The hotel was clean and well presented. The staff were efficient and friendly. The room (Double) was spacious and clean although a bit dated, the bathroom was clean. We ate in Quarter Jacks Restaurant, again the sta\ff were great and the food was v tasty. Our biggest let down was the uncomfortable bed! A new mattress needed. Also the bathroom towels needed re-newing aswell, rather small and thin.
Very clean, very friendly staff, good gym open early
staff were fab
good location when on the move. Fuss free stay. exhorbitant dinner prices
Close to Cribbs Causeway Overpriced, shabby, public rooms very noisy.
The Receptionist - Rach was very friendly and helpful and to be able to eat breakfast outside on the terrace with the sun shining was fantastic. The Spa was lovely and relaxing plus spotlessly clean and there's a clever little machine where you can dry your swimming costume, unfortunately it ate mine, but that's another story! Plenty of free parking too, which was a bonus. Definitely recommend!! 2 very small points, ordered bottled beer from room service which wasn't very cold and came minus the olives which were promised on the menu. And was unable to book any treatments at the Spa as they were full!
The hotel itself was lovely. The room was spacious and clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was well presented and delicious, if a little on the pricey side (particularly the breakfast).
food was excellent
Swimming pool and associated facilities were clean and tidy. Staff generally friendly and polite. - Food and drink was overpriced, we therefore decided to eat elsewhere on several occasions - I don't remember seeing anything on the website at the time of booking regarding a £3 per night parking charge; this should be made more obvious - I was left with a feeling that the hotel was out to extract as much money from customers as was possible, for example: a) We had a continental breakfast one morning but the final bill had the cooked breakfast price b) When we had a meal in the restaurant my wife chose a fixed price two course option but the bill arrived with the courses priced separately; an increase of several pounds c) £3 for parking, possible acceptable for a city centre hotel, but not for one on the outskirts of town d) Extras such as £4 per person tray charge for room service breakfast, ridiculous when the food itself has a healthy profit margin built in. - I also appears that our hire car was damaged overnight the first night we parked at the hotel - We would often find room service trays littering the corridors/stairways. why can't these just be removed rather than left in areas where they could be a hazard should there be a fire?
quiet location - was a bit further away from the city centre than expected
Location good and staff helpful. Evening menu - you have to pay for 2 courses even if you only want one.
Friendly staff, quick service, clean and a good breakfast. Its an old building and there was a prevailing damp / musty smell in the annexe I stayed in . Need to run the dehumidifiers more !
Extremely Professional and attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble. Good food and Restaurant facilities. No problems with parking as suggested by other reviews. Lovely clean room with all comforts, very welcoming to the dog.
The staff were very nice and the hotel was ok and the breakfast was good. The room said it slept four but one bed was a 'Z' bedand the carpark is very small.
It was ok. small room with the noisiest flush i have ever heard!
Very clean room, plenty of hot water, friendly staff, decent breakfast. The bedroom was a little dated and could do with either, being updated to reflect a very modern or very traditional look but not an poor attempt at both styles together. The bathroom could have been a little warmer.
The staff were pleasant and attentive. The breakfast was good quality and the room was clean and comfortable.
Good location, relatively quite, individual style
Gracious public and private rooms, good furniture, and excellent and very helpful staff. A nice change from plasticky motel rooms. Bathroom old-fashioined but usable.
Very helpful receptionist/bar lady
Friendliness of staff Room not replenished with tea & coffee
Quality of room, range of facilities and quality of breakfast
Little Staff were perfunctory and unsmiling...Dinner buffet was poor; although breakfast was better. Letter of complaint sent.
The hotel is a lot better than it looks !! Breakfast was excellent. The standard rooms are very small and so is the doulble bed. The bathroom was generally very tired looking
paid £63.00 and did not get breakfast.
Rooms were spacious and comfortable and clean, and the buffet breakfast was lovely, with plenty of choice. car park was spacious and free! Swimming Pool was on the small side, as was the gym, and unmanned, but ok for a quick swim, not to relax, but definately would stay again
1) Strategic location close to M4 junction. 2) Friendly staff. 3) Ample space in our executive room. Very unflexible timetable of meals!
The room was plenty large for the family. Pool was small. Nice lounge area.
staff were very helpful i would have liked more information in the room about the hotel itself - eg how to work the TV etc and what is charged. The website did not give details about what the room included. I was under the impression that the basic room had a Dvd player. this was not the case.
General help of staff
Nothing The whole experiance was awful. The Room was filthy Light in Bathroom was not working. Overall the hotel was very disappointing
The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Not a great selection for breakfast but the cooked breakfast was good. The hotel is in desperate need of a refurb. Our room whilst large had a very out of date bathroom, stained carpet, not particulary clean and no inroom safe or minbar .Our stay in this hotel was for my Husbands birthday present to attend the Welsh Golf Open so I was extremely disappointed with the room. We had a meal on the 1st evening and we ended up not paying due to the quality of the food.We didn't eat in the dining room again.I Have stayed in 3 Hilton hotels recently Kensington, Swindon and Islington all of which were excellent standard
me and my parter stayed at the hilton but would never stay angin kids running up and down the hall ways load music late at night rowing in the hall ways to would never stay there angin in all the hotel we stayed in we have never had that.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful The hotel needs a complete re-furbishment in my opinion
Excellent staff at the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and they should all be commended from the coffee point staff to the excellent receptionists Bathroom was dreadful! Needs total overhaul
The rooms were spacious. It took a long time to get served at the bar in the afternoon/evening
The stairs were damp and smelt damp
Friendly staff, comfortable room and very enjoyable breakfast.
Room clean good excellant carvery evening meal Variety of price and choice for breakfast
The room was really nice and spacious and the bed was very comfortable and the breakfast's were really good. We stayed in room 275, the bathroom could do with a bit of updating considering it's a Hilton Hotel.
