Common areas on first floor were pretty. Everything else.
Noise was terrible. Couldn't sleep. Food sucked.
Room size and cleanliness
Fantastic location. Neat style and design. Authentic feel.
Small, but annoying things. Heater in my room was very noisy and impossible to set to normal temperature. Staff requests would fall through the cracks and I would have to ask again. Etc.
The interior design and staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
The biggest challenge while at the Hudson is the efficiency of "work flow". Examples include the huge lines at the main desk and main elevator bank. The elevators are insane to actually get somewhere in the building. In fact, for some reason they shut down two elevators for the weekend leading to numerous delays.
Nice outdoor public spaces. Location.
$20 for a glass of wine. Tiniest room ever. Poor service and remediation of issues. Noisy artic blast air conditioning.
The lobby and restaurant are great. The location is perfect.
The rooms are small, even for NYC standards. Basically the whole hotel is set up like a college dorm. The rooms are super small. There is a queen that almost hits the walls. You have a TV and a small little table. The bathroom is so small that you can barely sit down to goto the bathroom. I would not recommend this place to a family. It is for young adults that want to party in NYC.
I liked lobby
My room door was beat up looking. Shower made lots of noise as if something was wrong with the pipe. Just too small and not clean enough
the unusual and chic hotel decor...the availability of restaurants and bars on the premises
the rooms are a bit small
The location The restaurants/clubs/lounges The decor
The size of the rooms were very small No real amenities
The best pancakes I ever had... Seriously to die for... Haha
Too dark but I guess that's just a style... The sound of the heat pipes in the rooms is very annoying... the standard rooms are really really small.
Good:Close to subway. Affordable Manhattan hotel.
Bad: Front desk girls snotty attitude when advised of a problem.
Beautiful design, amazing common spaces and restaurants / bars; creative decor, accommodating and friendly staff -- great sized rooms - one of my new favorite hotels. Folks - get over the "small room" complaints - this is New York - same is true in Paris, London, etc. You want a big room? Shell out 300+
Beautifully designed boutique hotel with lovely public spaces. The lobby atrium is stunning and is worth a visit all on its own. The elevators were fast and fun with great elevator music which added to the overall Hudson experience. The continental breakfast is delicious and a very economical add-on if available.
The bathroom was VERY tight, and obviously the previous visitor thought so too as there was poop on the door and door jam. It was probably not cleaned because the cleaners would have to be sitting on the toilet to see it, as they would be unable to turn around in the tiny space. The staff were friendly but made it abundantly clear they expected to be tipped.
The common areas like the bar's and restaurant.
The rooms are really small.
I liked the location, the way the hotel looks and the bar area was quite nice.
My main complaint with the hotel was the size of the room. It was extremely small. I realize this is Manhattan and rooms will be smaller than another city but this room was still shockingly small. It might be manageable if it's one person, but if you're traveling with someone, forget it, room is just too small.
Noisy heater Cold room Not! the two double beds we booked Hooks falling off the wall SUPER small room
I liked the concept - cheap chic - inexpensive option, small rooms, enjoyable design.
I didn't like the party energy - fun maybe but reminded me of a college dorm atmosphere. I would have preferred having a quieter place to sleep.
Good price, but the room barely larger than the bed! Seriously!
The room was impeccable, with cool decoration and great location, you can choose to go to a local market, a variety of restaurants, or just walk around Central Park. Food service was great (CJ was the sweet guy who brought my breakfast), and if you miss the kitchen hrs they'll recommend you a few places that'll deliver food to your room. Great bar with good bartenders(ask for Eric). Also ask for the total price of each service you request so you know what you'll be charged for, overall really good staff.
Even though my bathroom looked out of a magazine, my shower sounded like a dying whale everytime I've used it :). But I've got plenty of hot water for as long as I needed to, so that wasn't really an issue.
I liked the commitment to the theme. Everything worked to give the right mood down to the apparel of the staff and the butter knife served with continental breakfast.
I didn't like weight for the elevator and having to run to catch it before the door closed because the bank of doors is so long. I also did not like hearing the club music from my room at night. I was on the eighth floor and could still hear the base going.
Clean. Location great. User friendly. All that was needed for a great sleepover in the city. Tight small room but organized and well appointed.
I enjoyed the greenery and the eclectic feel of the Hotel. I leaked that it was centrally located and the park was blocks away. Overall it was a good deal for the money and I would stay again but only with adults.
I wished the room were a bit larger and that there was an outlet by the sink for plugging in the curling iron. Also, it was not the most child friendly place and my room had a window that let a draft in.
Try heading into the lobby after a 10h flight, stand in line for 20 minutes and barely hear the rude receptionist in incredibly loud music coming out of the bar / lounge - not very welcoming. Came in and got a room that was freezing cold; the heat was not working and the window was broken and open - it didn't close properly letting in all the cold. When I called the reception, they asked me to come down to talk about my "options", implying I had a choice which I could only have if there was an issue of settling a price difference. Came down back to the 20 min line and the loud music. Memo to management: better hotels tell me the new room number over the phone and send someone to meet me in the new room / floor, where we exchange keys. Right away. No discussion of "options". No asking me to come back down without offering a definitive solution first. And they don't have broken heat and windows.
Staff not respondent
Location, restaurant/bar (if you like energy), allows pets.
Room was very small, dirty, door was not sealed (noises carried from the hall), bed linens were itchy, thermostat didn't work, TV didn't work, bed side lamp switch was broken, forced resort credit was poor value.
This is the 3rd hotel of the Morgan group that I have visited and unfortunately they tend to repeat the same mistake, or probably is their business model that doesn't jive with me. The lobby and the location were the best part of the hotel. I would also like to mention their staff: warming and friendly.
The room was ridiculously small, especially the bathroom. Thus, if you are 6 feet tall you won't fit in the toilet. it also looked pretty run-down and not very clean. I had hairs on my pillow and in 2 sheets. The hallways had trays full of used dishes and dirty silverware till late in the evening. So their cleaning stuff is clearly sloppy and not managed at all. On top of that the hotel is pretty noisy due to a club they run downstairs, thus you should bring some earplugs with you if you wanna sleep. Lastly I found a cockroach in their gym (yikes). I wont return there.
This was literally the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Extremely rude and uninformative staff. Small filthy dingy rooms. They said they had valet parking so my boyfriend went in and asked, they told us to look for "the guy who looks like everyone else, he doesn't really stand out". The absolute worst service and stay I have ever experienced. The only plus is the location.
The location is convenient if you want to be in midtown but not on Times Square.
Hotel was noisy at night with a club/lounge downstairs and the traffic outside, sheets and toilet were dirty upon my arrival and even the new sheets that i requested were still dirty! Absolutely sloppy and negligible service. The pillows were very uncomfortable. The hallways felt like a college dorm and the room was about the size of a shoebox, literally. Be aware that if you are taller than 5'9" you will not fit on that toilet. The shower/toilet is only separated from the bed by a glass wall with a see through curtain so dont expect any privacy whatsoever. This hotel is suitable only for quick hook ups after a night at the club downstairs. It felt like staying at a cheap motel. Very disappointing and a waste of money.
Staff was friendly. Lobby was beautiful. Room was nice and good use of a small space. Good for single traveler or couple.
It was very noisy and I had a difficult time sleeping.
tiny room trash under bed
Check in staff - especially Edlira - fantastic. Very friendly. Location - close to Lincoln Center for NYFW; several subway and cab options.
Very small room with dark wood paneling - felt like a coffin. Room service not 24 hours.
Great location and lobby.
Incredibly small bathrooms.
I called to cancel my reservation because I became ill on the bus going up to NYC with my daughter. The bus driver had to let us off in Baltimore and a state highway patrolman took us to the next available exit where I waited for my son to drive an hour and 10 minutes to pick us up. When I called the Hudson, the receptionist said I couldn't cancel through her. She told me to call Kayak.com who told me to call Hotels.com. Hudson not only charged me for the room but they also charged me for a No Show fee! I'm very frustrated!!
