Great gym. Loved the pelaton bikes. Great lobby lounge/bar with good cocktails, bar food and service. Comfy beds. reasonable size rooms (for New York). 30$ daily bar vouchers were well recieved and used!
If anything, bathroom was pretty small.
Over-The-Top treatment for Marriott Titanium Elite members like myself.
The location is ideal! It’s very centrally located and there are many subway lines within a quick walk.
The staff that I interacted with were, by and large, incredibly unhelpful and quite rude. I had a few questions and every person gave me conflicting information. They were unhelpful and seemed peeved that I was asking anything. No one made me feel welcome in any way. The walls are incredibly thin. I travel often and this was far and away the loudest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Airlines clearly use this as a stopover hotel — the lobby is full at all times with pilots and flight attendants — and so just be warned that large groups of people will be checking in and wandering the halls at all hours of the night. But since the walls are so thin, their voices carry and echo so loudly that it sounds like someone is yelling inside your room, and the sounds of rolling luggage sound like a train rolling down the hallway. I got no sleep for my full stay. The rooms are also pretty worn down. The bathroom is tiny and there is only half a stationary door to the shower, so whenever you shower, be prepared for a flooded bathroom. We also had shattered floor tiles in the bathroom — we’re lucky we didn’t cut our feet on them. Why wouldn’t someone clean that up and replace them? The hidden room fees that other reviewers mentioned also really add up. This may seem like a cheaper option than other hotels in the area, but once you account for all the hidden fees, it really isn’t. They give you a $30 bar voucher to lessen the blow of the $25 nightly destination fee, but be warned: the cheapest cocktail at the bar is $17 plus tax and tip ... so that $30 voucher isn’t going very far. I definitely won’t be staying here again. There are much better options in this area.
Staff was friendly, location is nice and the breakfast was fine. The host at breakfast was great at seating people and accommodating everyone to have a short wait.
The room was very disappointing. It smelled of mold, and bathroom didn't feel very clean. The decor was dated, and the AC/Heater was insanely loud. The alarm by the previous guest was apparently set for 6AM- and I did not notice as I didn't use it. There was no hair conditioner provided- only shampoo. The room felt like it needed a complete redo.
Honestly I loved my stay at the Maxwell. It’s one of the best NYC hotel experiences I’ve had. This property’s staff is amazing. You actually get your moneys worth from the destination fee via $30 voucher to the bar/lounge in the lobby. Which is lovely.
The same thing you don’t like about most NYC hotels. May need a deep, deep cleaning. My room wasn’t dirty but it would have been superb if it were sparkling clean, as one would expect from a hotel.
