Pros: Must say ... better then I thought. Reminded me of Clevelander back in the day .
Pros: Across the street from the beach, next to the Stone Pony, super comfortable beds, great staff!
Cons: Could be cleaner
From our well-appointed rooms to our poolside tiki huts world-class dance club we are setting the standard for Asbury Park the Empress Hotel has 101 rooms in a glorious ocean setting located across the street from the Atlantic Ocean and adjacent to historic Ocean Grove. Together with the Paradise Nightclub and Tabu Restaurant The Empress is part of one of New Jerseys largest and most exciting entertainment complexes.
Cons: Floors are thin. Was constantly woken up during the middle of the night
Pros: Really enjoyed the nightly live music events in the lobby/bar area! The hotel is also about 3 blocks from the Boardwalk, and a 5 minute drive to downtown Asbury Park, where there are some great little restaurants and bars. Just an excellent location. The rooms have a very "college" vibe, but are bright, homey, and comfortable. You can also order food delivered directly to your room from a local place called JR's, which has a large menu and pretty good food.
Pros: Location was excellent - hotel bar, lounge areas, entertainment options and pool, etc. were great.
Cons: Our room was on the small side and was missing basic things like a coffee maker. I like the modern look, but the room wasn't upscale modern, it felt very ikea modern. So for the week-day rate/deal I got, it was fine, but I wouldn't have wanted to pay any more for the room we had.
Pros: The design of the hotel is beautiful. Fells very west coast and has great access to the beach.
Cons: Rooms are really small and do not have anything like, coffee machine, fridge, or microwave. Also no adjoining rooms in the hotel.
Pros: 1. Location.
4. Friendliness of staff
5. Size of bathroom
6. The rooftop lounge: Gorgeous views over the entire city. It's nice that there is a separate entrance than the hotel to get to the lounge.
Cons: 1. The room decor looked like it was Ikea. Clean lines, but looked cheap.
2. Poor design of shower. Nice big bathroom. I liked the tile. Note that my bathroom had a standup shower, not a tub (I'm not sure of all rooms though). The water from the showerheard must have exceeded the drains ability to drain, because by the time I was done, the towel I placed on the floor was soaked!!! Not moist but soaked. The threshold may not have had enough heights.
3. I was in my room until sometime in afternoon. The cleaning people knocked and said I wasn't ready, but they never came back. Not that I'm particulary smelly so it didn't matter much, but it would have been nice to have come back to a made bed.
The Asbury features a nightclub and a rooftop terrace. After having fun at the outdoor pool, you can grab a bite to eat at the coffee shop/café or unwind with a drink at the bar/lounge. A poolside bar and a seasonal outdoor pool are other highlights, and rooms offer up nice touches like rainfall showerheads and pillowtop beds with premium linens.
needs some updating without changing the Victorian décor. the exposed electrical and plumbing looks haphazardly done. beyond shabby sheik.
Pros: the breakfast in tearoom was very nice and good. the staff was very accomadating and pleasant smiling. location was nice a bit of a walk for shopping coffee and meals close to beach. parking was tough- park and let your car parked or you lose.
Cons: really small rooms and the sink is not in bathroom which is terribly small. the pictures do not match reality
The B & B owners (Dick & Jane)provided superb hospitality and were also helpful with directions and finding night life on the town. The place had a great Victorian charm. Our room (The Polo Room)was spacious and wonderful. The Tea Room on the lowest level for breakfast was magnificent and the servers were prompt and very friendly. I look forward to returning some day to stay at Lillagaard in Ocean Grove.
Pros: We pretty much liked everything about this B & B. The room that we stayed in, although on the third floor, was very spacious with a parlor room and view of the ocean and a very comfortable queen bedroom. Breakfast was exceptional. The owners were cordial
Cons: I would imagine that parking on the street could be a problem when things are busy during the summertime, but we were there in December, so we found street parking to be a non-issue. The stay at Lillagaard was way better than a two star rating.
Staff is friendly and the info provided on the place when booking is very well detailed. Location is very awesome also, right next to the beach and Avon and also asbury park. Really have no complaints.
Pros: I thought more or less it would be creepy because of the old Victorian theme but they managed to do it with the perfect touch
Pros: The proximity to Asbury Park beach and the board walk was unmatched! Excellent location for beach days and date night! The 3 restaurants we went to were amazing-- Kate Marie's, Stella Marina, and Robinson Ale House.
The room was big enough for the two of us. The bed was comfortable and the linens were clean. I would return for a quick trip.
Cons: The hotel had some "modern" updates in the main common areas, but there needs to be more renovations throughout the hotel.
The bathroom door barely closed...there were pieces of the wall that needed to be replastered and painted. They gave basic updates to the carpet, TV, and beds, but the closets and bathrooms were left wanting.
Cons: Tv was broken, hair dryer Dodd not wor, room was never cleaned and we stayed 3 days. The hotel is over priced.
Pros: The bed was comfortable.
Cons: Was shocked to see how cheap and broken down so much of the hotel is (e.g., the elevator floor is uneven, the walls on our floor had poorly covered holes in the wall, the room did not have a mini fridge, the television was so pixelated it was uncomfortable to watch, etc).
Pros: We were given free parking to compensate for the fact that our room was not ready upon our arrival.
Cons: The hotel restaurant was not available during our stay, which was a huge disappointment. The handles on the dresser were broken, the volume button on the iHome was broken, and there was some sort of water damage to the ceiling. There was also a round of housekeeping where some trash was not removed.
Pros: The staff couldn't have been nicer. The lobby and the building itself is absolutely gorgeous. The location of the hotel is prime for going to the boardwalk or the nearby venues such as the Stone Pony. The pool was a really nice area in which to relax.
Cons: The rooms were nice but for $300+ a night (the going rate for a summer weekend), I would have expected it to be nicer. The room was small, which was expected, but it seems the room hasn't been updated in several years. The bathroom is a bit strange - at least ours was. The sink was super shallow and the shower doesn't have a curtain or door. It has a glass panel that doesn't fully prevent the water from spraying onto the bathroom floor. Not the worst hotel room I've stayed in but not the best one for the price paid.
Pros: the people that work at the hotel was very nice, polite and friendly
the maid that clean my room was very sweet, polite and respect woman because i gave her a tip and she was happy
Cons: the breakfast was terrible
the chair of the pool a lot of them are broke and no comfortable
at night people screaming and very noise,i call the security to let them know
i ask for ocean view but the room only had very little ocean view a building was block the view because i was on the 4 floor,i pay the ocean view and i feel i loss my money because the view was horrible
Pros: Great location! Right across from the beach and walking distance to everything. Staff was friendly - everyone smiled and said hello. Easy and quick check in process.
Cons: S L O W elevators!
Cons: No parking available for my car.
Bed was incredibly uncomfortable.
No holder for the toilet paper, we had to leave it on the floor in the bathroom.
TV reception was poor.
TV was not an HD TV which one would think was standard in 2016, especially at a net rate of $250/night for a beach hotel.
Handle on chest of drawers was broken couldn't use the second drawer. None of the drawers were on their tracks. Sliding closet doors were off the track.
Touted as a dog friendly hotel, the cleaning crew was not obligated to clean the room if the dog was in the room at the time they arrived.
Pros: The ocean view was so relaxing. Hotel was quiet, but going off season, that's to be expected. Bed comfortable, staff helpful and nice.
Cons: Hot water took over ten minutes to go on. Windows drafty and hotel is old. They can use some updates.
Had some issues checking in that annoyed me but overall it was ok.
Pros: right across from the beach
Cons: No hot water in the morning.
Pros: The outside of the hotel looks better than the inside of the hotel. The hotel is located in a quieter section of the boardwalk.
Cons: I received a text message at 2 o'clock telling me my room is ready, when I arrived at 6 o'clock my room was not ready. They upgraded me to some sort of better room however it was disgusting! Holes in the couch, dirty windows and Doors that were falling off the hinges. The valet boys do not help with the bags. They only allow you to keep your car until 12 o'clock for an additional $20 fee

Pros: Room was really dirty staff was super rude and unprofessional would never stay there again
Cons: I didn't like anything
Pros: The front desk staff was as helpful as they could be.
Cons: The place was filthy! It smelled and the bedding and towels had stains. There were lipstick marks on the pillows and yellow stains on the towels. The floor was so dirty it stained our feet so we could not walk around without slippers on. The pictures made it look a lot more updated then it was.
Pros: The motel staff as tremendous. Checking in was painless. Then on of our party found their room was dirty- linens, bathroom, and floor. When inspecting the bed, they found shed skins, poop, and even a live bedbug. They refused to stay there. The Super 8 staff gave them an immediate refund.
Cons: Bathroom doors seemed to universally damaged
Pros: Price would have been fair for location
Cons: Rooms were dirty and there was bed bug sign and live bugs in at least 2 of the rooms our group reserved. There was hole in our wall that looked liked an axe head. Linens had not been changed and were gross. We left and went somewhere else
Cons: Wifi doesn't connect at rear second floor. We were room 226.
Pros: The beds were comfortable and the shower had great pressure.
Cons: Our room was not cleaned at all upon arrival. The carpet had multiple stains, ceiling tiles missing. The door to the bathroom had been damaged, as if someone had punched a hole through it. The shower did not drain.
Cons: I'll never stay at this motel again, they price gouged due to the holiday weekend, just very poor business pratice.
Cons: Where to begin! How about, no extra tp in bathroom, had to go to the desk to ask, but they were out

Pros: Nothing!! It was gross...
Cons: Well it smelled ...mold dirty!!! I slept with my clothes on!!! Gross porn keep coming on the TV went the cable went out!!! Plus there was a DRUG BUST on the second floor ...lol police and all!!!
