Ponderosa Gardens Motel - Paradise - Bedroom
1
8.7 Excellent (277 reviews)
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was huge. The grounds were beautiful. The room had microwave and a bigger hotel fridge.
Cons: The ac had a little trouble the first day we were there but it was 108 outside which is very unusual for that area. Otherwise it froze us out at night! The room is updated but there are still some small things that shows the age of the motel. Not really worth the $129 a night that we paid, but since a name brand hotel doesn't exist in this town.....supply and demand takes over. There were mostly construction workers staying there at the time so the pool should be all yours!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I absolutely love this place! I stay here every time I need a room when visiting Paradise!

Cons: See above.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Newly renovated. This is one of my favorite hotels to stay in.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Spotless clean and updated. Better than the rooms at the Mont Bleu in Lake Tahoe!
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
Cons: The amount of noise that was allowed to take place. A group of men were out in the parking lot until 1:30am being extremely loud. Management did nothing. Also, when I checked in, the woman working the counter had her child there and attended to him instead of providing good customer service.
6.8 Good
Pros: The room cleanliness.
Cons: Parking, All around noise at all hours from people who seemed to be long term guests, shouting between floors. Too much light in the room coming from the white light on the wall right next to the lavatory. Breakfast, at around 9:20 the waffle mixed ran out and the front desk told there was not anymore available. Only a handful of sausages left and one of them had a human hair wrapped in it. I told the girl and the front desk, she said “let me check” and grabbed what seemed to be a notebook and that was the end of our interaction, there was not an apology or we will get more for you, nothing of the sort and lastly there werent any napkins available.

Pros: Didn't expect it to be as nice as it was. Rooms were freshly painted, newer furniture, comfortable bed. View was of the concrete wall next door but I wasn't there for the view & that didn't bother me at all. In fact it felt more private. Did not try the breakfast so no opinions there.
Cons: I was very pleased. Had a nice, short stay & will stay again.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Recently remodeled!!
8.0 Excellent

Cons: Lack of several small amenities that I normally expect in a hotel, such as a bottle opener, magnification mirror, kleenex in the bathroom, bath mat, bottled water.

The beds we're very uncomfortable as well. I appreciated the fridge and microwave. The value was just not there it was way too expensive for quality if I put a price on it is value the stay at $70ish a night I payed $134.00. The people upstairs sounded like they were partying ALL day until I finally called around 7:30pm the staff took care of it right away and I was very appreciate. The staff was fantastic, kind, courteous and accommodating which was fantastic. This is the 2nd time I've stayed at a super 8 and more than likely the last. Pros: The people were friendly and the location was perfect for going back and forth from Nettleton Stadium .It was clean and quiet also
Cons: Parking could be difficult at various times but other than that we always found a parking space
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Always accommodating!!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Room was clean and furniture in good condition
Cons: You can hear the sounds of the freeway from your room at night, and the walls seem thin as I could easily hear the loud guests near by.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The staff was friendly.
Cons: I paid too much for the room. Not what the picture of the room that I saw online looked like. The toilet did not work even after it was so called fixed.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Free Parking, Free WiFi
Cons: The hidden fees, the delay in getting a room when I arrived, extra fees for room service, the pool was closed, noisy area (heavy traffic), Workers had poor communication with me while checking in...later had to spend more time figuring out a resolution
4.6 Okay
Pros: It was a good value
Cons: The room appeared clean, but when I got up at night to use the bathroom, it had many roaches scampering around - not a good feeling. I let the front desk know about the roaches and they said they would call Terminex, but offered no apologies. I won’t be back.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was great.
Cons: The people upstairs were horribly noisy! I got very little sleep. Staff warned them several times. The noise continued. Never again!
1.0 Poor
Pros: Close to work
Cons: Noisy,hard beds,stiff pillows,parties everywhere,corner showers are horrible,banging all night above,slamming doors
10.0 Excellent

9.4 Excellent
Pros: The heritage, location near decent food, the restaurant.
Cons: More electrical outlets in the room, microwave oven.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, great decor, centrally located, historic
Cons: The price is kind of outrageous, especially for the area. Chico is a small, simple little town. We stayed here for our wedding night and then went to Monterey for our honeymoon. We paid less for a spa and suite with equally friendly staff, pet friendly and a badass restaurant in Monterey. Kind of odd.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located, with the diamond steakhouse opening it is an awesome added benefit

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Wifi and tv
Cons: Dirty carpets. My feet were black from walking barefoot on them.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great convenient location, clean but funky bedding
Cons: TV control didn’t work correctly even after they “switched out “ the batteries, bed was hard and they moved my stuff a bit when they came in to clean ? Not had that before,
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Room was dirty, shower rod had scum on it. Refrigerator was unplugged, room was very small, could not walk between the bed and office chair, which would not roll. Internet would not work, even though I was given a password.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very good for the price
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean!! I really liked this place, breakfast for free yummy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was so quiet and comfy... I didn’t want to leave. I loved the carport.
Cons: My car was too long for the carport.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel recently remodeled and upgraded, in a very attractive residential area. Great appearance to the property, and room was good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Price was good, especially being near the university.
Cons: My room door needs new weatherstripping along the bottom, and also on the left side below the door handle. There was a LOT of cold air coming in all night from the door, so I had to take some towels and lay them against the door at the bottom and up that side. Also the bathroom should have a curtain, for better privacy.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well kept and clean for the price. Pleasantly surprised
7.0 Good
Pros: Room was recently updated, new and clean
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: The bed was hard and the shower was not hot enough
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean rooms, easy to find, friendly staff, good price. Staff enforced the no pet policy. This was inconvenient to me, but I also appreciate it for those times I travel with family who are allergic to pet dander.
Cons: the room had sort of an old musty smell. But it’s older. After a few minutes I didn’t smell it anymore.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was clean and had a decent TV with dart elite channels which surprised me. They had good shampoo and soap in the rooms and they fold the toilet paper so it makes the arrow point. So they are trying to spruce things up.
Cons: The bed was a little hard and the hot water temperature was up and down but it’s a cheap hotel and it seems like they are trying hard to make it nice. The coffee I. The lobby ha bad coffee but the coffee in the rooms is the same bad coffee at Be

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect. Staff was helpful.
Cons: need to upgrade the air conditioners.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location was good
Cons: The bathroom wasn't clean, there was hair on the floor and the blanket was dirty..
6.0 Good
Pros: I loved the jacuzzi tub and location in downtown. It was also across the street from an awesome beer bar and restaurants are within walking distance.
Cons: Our hotel room was not clean upon arrival, very little toiletries and towels were provided. Not bad if you aren't used to staying at places like Hyatt. (Which I do for business)
6.2 Good
Pros: The neighborhood it was located was very nice and quiet compared to some hotels next to the freeway. The people who worked there were nice and the room seemed to be a good size, not too small.
6.0 Good
Cons: Room wasn't clean.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: It’s a dump. It’s old and gross. My wife would be pissed if I brought her and the kids there. She wouldn’t stay.
1.0 Poor
Cons: The hotel had cockroaches and we found a bed bug. Saw both within 2 to three minutes of walking into the hotel room. We just walked right back out
4.0 Okay
Pros: I liked the location.
Cons: The room was very rundown. When we got there it had a bad smell. The comforter had dried food on it. We didn't feel comfortable due to the level of dirtiness.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location is great, located very close to the downtown.
Cons: I reserved and paid for a room with a king sized bed but was told Kayak/hotels.com overbooked the reservation and therefore, since I had already paid for the reservation, I must take what they have available. Unfortunately this meant staying in a room with a double sized bed and a bathroom with a shower/bathtub that did not work. For the money paid for a room with a double sized bed, I could have stayed elsewhere of higher quality. This was a horrible experience. I would advise people not to stay at this motel because it is a racket that over promises (or over books) and price gouges their customers through strongarm tactics.
3.7 Mediocre
Pros: noting but the location was ok but lot of homeless peoples the hotel need a bad made over
Cons: the staff was very unfiendley and new noting about the town i ASK THE CLARK WERE BANK OF AMERICAN WAS HE DID NOT NOW IT WAS TWO BLOCK AWAY ON THE SAME STREET

6.7 Good
Pros: It was clean . Staff was nice and polite
Cons: Thin floors. person below us pounding on ceiling when walking into room . Hot tub not working
7.5 Good
Pros: Very nice stay. Lots to do and staff was very nice.
Cons: I booked this hotel because it had a Jacuzzi, but it was broke when we went.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable for my husband, self and 2 cats at night, then filled with a dozen family members during the day for Christmas festivities. Was crowded but worked out very well. I was allowed to borrow 6 chairs from the conference room and we made it work. Lots of electrical outlets for our crockpots and buffet warmers, kitchen well stocked with utensils. All in all, I'd recommend this hotel and will stay there again myself!
Cons: The hotel was undergoing a remodel, our room looked very nice, but there was a slight smell of paint coming through the vents. Not bad considering they can't close entirely while remodeling and we really needed a hotel with a kitchen! All of the staff were wonderful except the woman who checked us in, a manager I think. Not a smile or extra word of welcome there...
8.5 Excellent
Pros: We love the space of residents inn's and most importantly the full size refrigerator! The staff went above and beyond at this location & were just wonderful. The breakfast people and the front desk were just wonderful!
Cons: The only sort of downsize was each morning the coffees, creamers, shampoos, soaps, kleenex if needed & paper towels were not replenished. It was not that big of a deal, I just ran downstairs and got from the front desk, but could have been easier
6.7 Good
Cons: I think $199 for that type of room is a but much especially for being a small town.

2.0 Mediocre
Pros: One staff member was pleasant
Cons: Two staff members were unpleasant, the room was tiny and disgusting. The carpets were filthy, there were bugs, the sheets were not clean and there was grit or crumbs in the bed. Paint was peeling off the walls, the TV barely worked and did not have the channels described, the WiFi did not work, the shower curtain was stained and moldy, the window curtain was covered in holes that let hundreds of bright light beams stream into the room first thing in the morning, the toilet did not flush all the way leaving feces floating in the bowl, the towels were extremely thin, scratch and somewhat stained, there was no bathmat, the freezer was almost a solid block of ice and the air conditioner smelled of mildew. It was horrible.
2.2 Mediocre
Pros: I enjoyed the transients walking through the parking lot at midnight. Along with the scary movie atmosphere of the hotel. Oh, and the smell. I would have been more comfortable sleeping in my car.
Cons: About $65 over priced. You can't fit in the shower if unless you're a contortionist. Seriously, the worst place I've ever stayed in my life. Spend the money, stay at Oxford.
2.8 Mediocre
Pros: Maybe the location.
Cons: The people were rude and not at all helpful: "You don't need to know our names, whoever is at this front desk will help you". The room: no bathroom soap (of course this was probably on purpose because the shower had no soap dish, tray, ledge or anything else: had to use the floor), dirty, and nothing worked well.
4.8 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfortable, everything seemed exactly what was expected of a 2/5 rated place
Cons: I didn't like that one of the desk guys working there mis used my information and CALLED my personal cell phone to ask if I wanted to meet up and wanted to talk to me when I was alone. He called multiple times and harassed me in the same conduct. A police report is being made, definite creep.
4.5 Okay
Cons: Fridge didn't work and no chain type lock for the door

6.2 Good
Pros: Was in Chico for sons graduation. Basically slept and showed, 6 hour stay. Friendly staff, overall clean would stay again for the same reason.
6.2 Good
Pros: My friend and I stayed at this motel overnight after a concert. We arrived in the day time and the room didn't look too shabby at all. Good for the price. There were older men sitting outside in the sun and kids riding their bikes around the parking lot, so I didn't get a bad vibe at all. And the location is great only 5 minutes from downtown. The room didn't look dirty. Can't speak on the bed since e brought our own blankets and didn't sleep under the covers.
Cons: When checking in, the staff wasn't that friendly, but whatever we were only there for one night. As far as amenities, the water was like warm and the fridge didn't work which we discovered the next morning when all of our food/drinks weren't cold. Didn't feel too safe late at night for a couple young women. As we were getting out of a cab, some older man hopped in to ask if we had fun, and then disappeared. The taxi driver said he was a tweaker. Scared the crap out of us! Not too long later, someone was banging on our door at like 1am. When we responded through the door, it was a man yelling "You got a cup?!". Definitely made sure every lock was locked that night!

Pros: Location and ease to destinations, and affordability.
Cons: Location of bed to bathroom much too close.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I travel to Paradise on a yearly basis for various reasons and always stay at the Paradise Inn. They have a wonderful establishment that is very well kept up by the owner. They have very nice swimming pool, BBQ area with tables and awning and lights for the evening. It is very quiet and tranquil there and would highly recommend it to anyone. All rooms have refrigerators, microwaves and coffee pots.
Cons: No continental breakfast
6.8 Good
Pros: It was clean, I felt safe. Driveway in and out a little challenging. Bed was firm. Fair value for money.
Ponderosa Gardens Motel - Paradise - Bedroom
