Close access to downtown restaurants and shops. Nice breakfast. No coffee in the room. Bathroom shelf restricted ability to fully access mirror. No vanity area with electrical outside of bath for women to blow hair etc to get ready.
John at the front desk was so sweet, helpful and nice. Give him a raise. Customer service at its finest. Overall, a decide price for a room in that area of Carmel. Close to lots of great shops and restaurants and the beach. The guy at the front desk on Friday morning was much less pleasant. I had to ask for a receipt when I checked out. The pet fee ($35) is pretty high compared to other hotels nearby.
Walking distance to shops and restaurants. It was okay for one night, but very outdated.
Hotel is very cute and has a lot of character. The gardens are beautiful and easy to walk places. We had problems with the heat. The first night it was not turning on and we were freezing. The owner fixed it but then it was over heating the following night and we had to to turn it off. They need to fix their thermostats.
It was a fantastic location within walking distance to lots of great restaurants and shops. Room was clean, had a portable heater inside it, and bed was comfy. Parking was pretty limited. There were not enough spaces in their parking lot for each guest to park one car. There was street parking, but you had to be careful of parking times. Room was small, but perfectly suitable for a nice place to sleep.
Perfect location: next to downtown, but off the main streets enough for quiet and parking. Good value - not forced to pay extra for "frills" not really needed in Carmel.
The location is excellent. Similar to a Motel 6 but at about four times the cost.
Just like any other hotel or inn in Carmel it was a stones throw away from the center of town. Everything is within 10 minutes walking. Complimentary wine tasting was awesome for my girlfriend and I whom celebrated out 1 year anniversary. The continental breakfast was lacking but there are many places to eat so it wasn't too much of a problem
Friendly/Helpful Staff Complimentary wine from 4-6pm Comfortable room and bed - nothing "posh" but very adequate Slatted blinds over the windows Wall-mounted thermostat to control the gas fireplace Quiet, comfortable location with great laid back "energy" Breakfast better than many; not as good as others - but very adequate, and you get REAL plates, cups, glasses, and flatware!! Linens and towels getting a bit on the thin side Really lightweight single ply toilet paper Limited parking
Location, room size Breakfast
I loved staying there and highly recommend anyone looking for an affordable and comfortable stay! I even forgot my shirt there and talked with Deborah who shipped my shirt back to me. Loved it!
Pool , Hot Tub and salad bar No carpet peeling wallpaper mold
Great front desk staff and pool open late No shower curtain, very limited fitness facility and hot tub under construction
Initially the room looked clean and up to date. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and stocked. The heater did not work, had to go get a space heater from the front desk. There was mold in the bathroom that made us both sick. One of the bath towels was clearly past its prime with holes and frayed edges. Neither the bathtub or the sink drained resulting in a shower with your feet submerged in dirty water and a sink that took a ton of water to rinse out. There were little bugs flying all around in the bathroom and dead stuck to the walls everywhere. I think they bit me. The front desk promised a breakfast buffet until 11, but when we showed up at 10:45 we were told they had already put everything away. When we sat down to order breakfast cooked to order, they brought me a little creamer pitcher, with one of the little bugs in it. Yuck. Ordered white toast, it was hard as a rock. We asked for another piece of toast to replace it and it came back twice as hard and burnt. We gave up on the toast and coffee. Oh and did I mention the bum digging through the trash outside our window?
Although the concrete hallways were rather stark, the rooms were comfortable and had everything we wanted. The rooms and bathroom were spacious, the bed was comfortable, showers hot, we didn't hear a lot of noise from adjacent rooms, and we had a nice view (3rd floor) out to the ocean. The omelets at the attached restaurant were fabulous - highly recommended! The hotel was minutes away (by car) from both Carmel and downtown Monterey - I would definitely stay there again. Great value for money. Helpful and friendly staff too. Stains on the carpet in the hallways.
All around good and friendly service from hotel staff. A pleasant stay. Convenient for visiting Monterey and Big Sur. Hotel is poorly signed and difficult to see from the street. Some of the carpeting on the bench outside the lobby area is in poor condition and needs to be replaced.
Shower, tv channels available Staff attitude was not pleasant;was told upper floor rooms were "unavailable " due to my discounted room rate...never ran into that restriction before
The bed was the most comfortable. Also plenty of parking space. Good location. Just sone loitering in the back parking lot.
To start off, the staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable, plenty of channels to watch on the TV, Wi-Fi worked as expected. The Crazy Horse Restaurant was not bad. The towels were clean. The Restrooms were clean. I didn't use the pool or the hot tub during my stay. The hotel has a interesting design. Due to the nature of the design there are spiders hanging from the lights. The toilet did not work correctly. During the morning it would flush and at night it would refuse flush. Not sure if its by design during the drought or if it was just not working.
Nice location with lots of parking...but... Very disappointing. Several cleanliness, plumbing, decor, and electrical problems between the two rooms we rented.
We were very happy with our room and location. For the price and comfort it was perfect. No continental breakfast.
The associated resteraunt was very good "Crazy Horse" other than that it was a very cramped king room with a dirty appearance. Furniture didn't fit the size of the room which made it even more cramped. The pool was heated but only slightly. The water temp was 70. Very cold after a short swim. This hotel did not fit the reviews that were given. I would stay at other more appropriate locations and pay more for amnesties. They had no complimentary continental breakfast. We didn't locate the frig in the room till the last day as it was in what looked like a drawer on a night stand. This was a $60/ night hotel with a very good resteraunt. All of the stay
Very well placed hotel, nice room. There's no air conditioning in room. There was no air conditioning.
Location, staff, free parking, comfortable and clean. Decor a bit dated but attractive.
Location Old and musty smell
Location, comfortable bed, nice shower No AC, internet slow and frequently drops out, old TV
Great location and very clean. Very noisy, walls are very thin. Street noise is very loud. Did not sleep well during my stay.
The rooms were very clean and quaint. Balcony was a nice amenity. Wasn't very expensive at all and was perfect for a golf trip on a budget or just to have a centralized location to enjoy the town and beach--which was within walking distance. Room could have had a little more space in it and a refrigerator and/or fireplace (like some of the others have) would have been nice but no complaints.
Perfect location in the heart Carmel. Center of all shops and restaurants. Slight ocean view in our room and could hear the waved when it was quiet at night. Great service, free breakfast delivered to your room, tremendously clean, cozy and comfortable. The structure is outdated and the bathrooms feel very outdated, but you'll never really notice or care due to the 5 star cleanliness, service, location and value. Breakfast could be better, but right next to plenty of great places to eat that you can walk to.
I liked the reception staff and the location The hotel needs a refurbishment and the restaurant for breakfast was closed at the time we stayed.
Room was clean and staff was friendly. Breakfast- said continental breakfast but it was more like a morning snack. Don't say breakfast included if it is not breakfast. Bathroom sink is just that a sink, no counter space for toiletries. Made it difficult to brush teeth, put on make-up, etc.
Hotel was very affordable and really nice for the price.
Perfect location to walk to shops, restaurants, and the beach. Great restaurants. We loved the nice touch of delivery to our room for the mornings coffee or tea with croissants and fresh fruit and juice. Rooms were older, not updated. However, the bedding was a pure delight.
The front desk staff did not look very happy !
I'm rented what they called a two story townhouse for three nights, which the second story was more like a large loft. The accommodationso where really nice and clean. Plenty of space. The room was large enough to accommodate a family of four to five people or two couples. The only recommendation that i can make is they need to replace the king matress. I could feel the springs. Other than that it was a very nice stay. Quiet and we enjoyed the continental breakfast.
The staff is amazing here. Danielle went out of her way to accommodate us and really made our stay perfect. The complimentary breakfast was also delightful. I would definitely stay here again.
the hotel was very clean, nice fireplace in the room, patio was also nice, no charge for parking staff was horrible as i arrived the lady already seemed unfriendly, no hello or anything the only thing she said was drivers license and credit card, when she read that i was from salinas she told me normaly she would have to recline me because they don't check in any locals becouse someone had a party there and destroyed the room. doesn't mean all locals are like that. and also the shower sink was clogged.
the desk staff where very nice and courteous. Room was clean and looked very inviting. Room 101 is at the entrance of drive way and on busy street. the mirror over the sink is too short. window over the sink has no blinds and allows massive amounts of light into room day and night. house keeping woke us up every morning at 8:30AM. deliveries to the hotel are made by large trucks backing into the drive way (next to room 101). late at night loud cars would wake us up.
I loved the beautiful decoration in the room. Pretty pictures etc. I loved the two separate spaces, sitting with couch and tv or laying in bed w fireplace and tv. Great set up!!! 5 stars! Clean too I'd give 5 stars except two things, we we're on the second floor and there was a floor above us which anytime somebody got up and walked around the floor squealed and creaked very very very loudly and it kept us awake from 6 AM till check out the second reason is because we couldn't get a later check out.
LOVE the fireplace in my room, it's real and makes just the right amount of white noise for a great sleep. Appreciate the microwave and minifridge, and the sitting room was nice. Outdoor firepits are a nice touch. A little too far from central Monterey for my liking, but I appreciate that it's so close to Del Monte Center with Whole Foods, movie theatre, restaurants. Weekend rate is ridiculous, but this is the true across hotels. There were a few minor things that made the place feel low-rent that could easily be fixed (generic key cards, they make you put a parking permit on your dash, tiny lobby, elevator interiors are beat-up and outdated). The no late checkouts under any circumstance policy is dumb, but I kind of suspect the receptionist was just saying that because she didn't want to deal with arranging one for me.
I liked that the room we got was two stories and it was spacious. Nice clean room! The smell downstairs and one of the handle was broken in the bathroom. No big deal for us, but the smell was a bit irritating
Room was clean staff helpful and friendly
Cute atmosphere The rooms are too close together. Felt less private
I liked everything. Very central location. Close to shopping/restaurants. Close the 17 mile drive. Cannery Row was less than 10 min away. Room was great, pool was great, staff was great.
Location was nice and near most attractions. Staff was very nice and helpful. The office staff member changed our room when I notified him of my unhappiness and upgraded us to a two level suite. Great deal on aquarium tickets. They have a 2 day pass if you purchase at the office that is the same price as the aquarium ticket booth for 1 day. Breakfast was nice as it was included. Fresh fruit, baked goods, and even waffles. First room was terrible. Torn curtains. Torn chair. Spotted lamp shades. Very disappointed. Pictures are deceiving. There is no view to speak of other than the street or the parking lot. The outside furniture does not look like the pictures. Outside fire area was never lit. Had the worst elevator. I thought that it would break every time we were in it. Had to use the stairs out of fear.
The room and bed we've very nice and comfortable. The room I was given did was the only room on the floor without a balcony.
Location is convenient close to frreeway access, fisherman wharf, and shopping malls. Check in was done rather quickly. When we needed assistant, Inn staff was quickly to respond. Our bathroom door was not able to close, lock was not usable, and the heater/cooler was not working. There was a video tape player but was not working. No dvd player to use.
I really liked that their was breakfast in the morning. That the room was clean and that the pool was near the room. I really enjoyed all the plants outside and the balcony. I did not like that when we got their late they were very few options on where to dine and that our heater wasn't working.
Nice room, close to everything None
Easy check in & nice staff. Nothing fancy. Bed was comfortable & room was clean but no air conditioner just a fan which was ok since it wasn't too warm. The breakfast area is in the lobby and was so crowded with no place to sit. Had to dodge many people just to get a bowl of cereal!!
Our hotel room was very clean and neat, late arrival was not a problem, and it is partially renovated. We skipped the breakfast though, so I don't know about that. The town center is a 5 minute drive, or a nice walk from the hotel. Overall, great value for money. I would be happy to stay here again.
Nothing Everything, rude rude rude manager and very dirty and daited, maids were super loud , never stay there again. Worst place we've ever stayed at. I can't believe there are decent reviews of this dump!!!!!!
Staff members were very warm and welcoming and the free breakfast was better than similarly-priced hotels, offering cereal, mini muffins, fruit coffee and even (really good) do-it-yourself waffles. Our room came standard with an extremely large king-sized bed. An added bonus was the mini fridge - great for keeping our camping groceries cold as we traveled through California. Only real downside was that while taking a shower, I noticed that there were stray hairs on one of the walls - remnants from the previous guest(s). Not a huge deal to us as the rest of the room was spotless and we were staying less than 24h, but a bit off-putting nonetheless.
Great location, decent hotel for the price The floors didn't seem like they were vacummed.
Clean, sizable. Good location for quick access to downtown Monterey, Carmel-by-the-sea, Big Sur, etc. The internet was surprisingly fast, and free! The microwave and fridge were also quite convenient. Noise was the biggest issue: the ceilings creaked a lot every time the people above us moved around. It felt like we could hear everything they were doing. If you're thinking about staying here, definitely try and get a 2nd-floor room. Since our room was very near a busy street, we also heard a lot of noise from traffic and passing cars.
I liked the price. Location not bad. Breakfast was hour later than stated at check in. Nothing made this place stick out. It's just a place to sleep. Will stay elsewhere next time.
The man that checked us in was very helpful. He let us know about the special package they offered for the Aquarium. Another worker told my boyfriend to put out his cigatette when he was outside. We wete aware that all of the rooms were non-smoking but didn't understand why he coyldn't smoke outside.
Did not feel safe there. The bed spread and drapes were dirty, no place to plug in coffe maker, lamp was broken and other lamps had missing light bulbs. Bathroom had malfunctioning shower head and tub mat not clean. Continental breakfast was not very healthy.
Staff was welcoming from check in to check out.
Elegant and sophisticated, old world charm with a modern bathroom. Rooms are small and a bit musty.
location, quality Room on ground floor with no view/privacy
The location can't be beat - the staff impeccable. The courtyard is absolutely beautiful The rooms are small, but that is to be expeected for an older property
Everything is perfect! You're treated like royalty all the time...
The staff were excellent the restaurant was absolutely excellent. The room was good but a little small for the price. No nothing we disliked.
the room the food the staff the service the building - it was all excellent - very upscale european with laid back california feel no
The service was outstanding. All of the staff are exceptionally well trained to be unobtrusive, polite and anticipate every need They are on par with the very best hotels worldwide (the Oriental,Bangkok , the Imperial, New Delhi and the Connaught, London) The restaurant is very creative and the food very good. We were not too fond of the color/fabric choices, not a real issue.
Good service and good location - restaurant good but expensive Room was very dark and not enough lamps - it is my experience that when you book through booking.com you always get the "secondary" rooms.
The hotel was beautiful and the service there was amazing. I would recommend this hotel.
The rooms were very cozy and welcoming. Staff was very friendly
The price was the best feature. We had a last minute reservation and the hotel fit our needs.
close to downtown monterey, friendly and professional staff, breakfast included, free parking toilet smelled dirty, hair on the bathroom floor, 5thin walls
Basic breakfast, but fresh and quite good. Room was comfortable, but simply equipped. Close to shopping center. No fridge and microwave in the room. Close to main street so a bit noisy. Far from Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf (long walk so need a car to go to restaurants and pubs)
The location and the cleanliness of the room -
Very modern decore and clean. Very quite yet right in the middle of the town!! Perfect place, will stay again
Comfortable, clean, modern. Convenient location, walking distances to shops, restaurants. Nice continental breakfast
Convenient to most popular tourist attractions. Not great but a fair value for the $'s Wi-Fi signal so weak it was unusable. Noise from fairgrounds was very noticable in the room
Room over the office is below 2 star Paint is peeling ,heater is noisy and traffic noise is terrible in the morning Bathroom fans sound like lawn mowers and can be heard in the next room When I asked for another room off the street I was told the cost would be $100 more, bringing the cost is a "three star" hotel on Fremont street to $250 for a Saturday night - very dissatisfied with this hotel
Spa was broken, then repaired, still very old. Sauna was broken. Shower head in room sprayed very little water. Toilet tissue was very poor quality. pillows were terrible, should have been thrown out.. The continental breakfast was a joke. coffee and rolls only. No juice or tea for the non coffee drinkers.coke machine was empty all of the above
I really didn't like anything about the hotel that we stayed in..my husband tried to take a shower and the water was trinkling out...we wanted to sit in the spa and it closed at 9pm. (it is by the beach who is back at 9pm) I think it should stay open a lot later. The rooms are very hot too. I was not satisfied.
It was in a good location near the ocean, downtown, and race track. The employees that I interacted with where great they seemed to be generally interested in our stay and offered information to good locations to check out. The extended stay residents where rude and blocked off parking spots trying to keep people from parking near our room for themselves. The beds need to be replaced springs where coming through our bed and the bathroom sink had been broken and badly repaired when it should have been replaced.
clean room, enough space , bathroom ok and very good beds ! poor WiFi connection
Close to cannery row. Room small and dingy. Staff rude. Room not that clean. Amenities all dirty or not usable (green/brown water in hot tub) (dirty ice machine located outdoors).
Room was dirty, giant stain on bed cover, chipped paint all over. Management was rude and unprofessional.
you get what you paid for towels was very worned out... (good thing we brought our own); a/c did not work at ALL; fridge did not get cold at all; had to clean the iron myself;
I was very dissatisfied. When I booked the hotel thru kayak.com, it looked very clean and comfy, somewhere I could relax, and even read a book. When we arrived to the hotel, not only did it look creepy, but it also was very ghetto looking. The staff there were not friendly, they only want your $! I booked a room with a balcony, so my children and I could sit outside, and read our books. They gave us an ugly room with no balcony, and growing mold inside the bathroom. The toilet would flush for hours, and it wouldn't stop! California is in a drought, and this is not helping it! Also, my children say they did not feel safe and ugly! The toilet would flush in the middle of the night, we felt like it was haunted! Room #223. Just don't stay there, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!
Great staff Bed tilted to one side and kept rolling away from the wall.
The clerk at the check-in desk was very helpful and friendly. Our room was comfortable and satisfied our needs...however, an in-room coffee pot would have been nice. Lack of an in-room coffee pot.
Near the ocean wonderful walking trails. Lot of fun for families, and couples too. The older rooms lack insulation and have small beds.
Our family loves Asilomar... It's beautiful. Have a hearty breakfast, go for a walk at the state beach, shoot a game for pool in the lodge and your just five minutes from Monterey Bay aquarium. Simple rooms, but the location is with a million.
I loved the grounds- they were beautiful That we we're put in the wrong room at first but they corrected it
The location next to the Asilomar State Beach is outstanding! Yet just a 10 minute drive to Monterey and 20 minutes to Carmel.
Conference grounds were gorgeous, lots of little walking trails and directly across from the ocean. My room had poor air circulation and was always way too hot. Blinds on the bathroom window did not close properly and the windows didn't have screens on them. There were also 2 or 3 lamp posts just outside my bedroom window, meaning I had to deal with lots of light pollution when trying to sleep. Site has open wi-fi, but it is unavailable in most conference rooms. Most food and services on site are decent, but rather overpriced.
That the nice wooden houses were scattered around a big tranquille naturegarden along the seaschore. Fine food. Free parking. Dining at shared tables.
Stayed for one night. Loved the amazing location, how clean and spacious the room was, and the comfortable beds. Didn't care much for the cafe employee, who was rude and forgetful.
It reminded us of the Yosemite Flair. Coming from Sweden it was just outstanding!
Fantastic location on Monterey coast, relaxed and quiet atmosphere, deer roaming on property would like a/c in rooms, or fans at least
Clean, reasonable priced rooms
Location to area attractions. The beds were tooooooo firm and not very comfortable.
Very pleased overall Near perfect...didn't like the pillows but my son loved em. Limited channel selection on tv
Excellent value for money. Located close to a large shopping centre with restaurants and cinemas. Only a couple of minutes drive (or possible to walk) to the centre of town and the wharf. Large rooms. Basic breakfast. Free parking. Good base for exploring Monterey,Carmel etc. Check in staff were not overly welcoming.
spacious rooms, very clean, friendly staff
Very clean room, and good value for the dollar There wasn't anything that I did not like about the room
Spacious room, comfortable beds and the convenience of a dining table and chairs. We appreciated being allocated a quiet room, away from the busy road.
employees were friendly, nice location, and David Doty was really helpful even though i arrived at 2:00 a.m. n/a
the things we didn't like was the carpet in the room ... waso ld and not too much clean and there was not a room for having the breakfast.
Clean room, everything works, nice fireplace, close to downtown, courteous & helpful staff, great value Parking spaces are adequate but a bit tight
Clean, convenient, affordable, friendly, quiet. It's no longer the Vagabond. It's the Munras Inn. That was pretty confusing! The free "breakfast" is not real. It's a 7-11 pastry, Sunny Delight (which is a soft drink), and a piece of fruit.
the property was nice, and appearance above average. The location was excellent, and adjacent to the historical downtown and the wharf. A mile to the aquarium. My concerns were with continental breakfast, which was included, and very inferior, with stale croissants, etc. also stingy with towels and linens in room. Silly.
booked the suite and hence was quite spacious for a family of three. breakfast was continental but had some hot stuff like oatmeals and was ok to take back to room and eat with the family. Parking was extra which was not revealed till we checked in. a stiff $20 per day per car. which given other hotels were not charging, felt like nickel and diming
Location was perfect. Close to all restaurants. Noise level from above room and street noise. Also, pictures on website make this hotel look amazing when it's not.
The grounds are very unique and allow for areas to relax outside. It is also close to Fisherman's Warf and the downtown area. I didn't like the fact that I kept finding items left by the previous guest in to room (i.e. wrappers, tags, debris, etc.). For what was charged, I would have expected more for breakfast. A Holiday Inn Express has a more comprehensive breakfast.
noise from street was awful
Very roomy, clean and close to fisherman's wharf. Walking distance to several restaurants.
It was pretty spacious and the front desk girl was really nice. Room wasn't the cleanest, and the walls were really thin, you could hear everything going on next door.
it was a very nice room and very spacious. It was expensive and did not have air conditioning.
my boyfriend and i loved the shower.. water got hot really fast and amazing water pressure. Our room was a lot larger than we had anticipated, which was great. It almost felt like a tiny home during our 4 night stay. We also loved how close it was to the downtown area and lots of good restaurants. Only 1 mile from the aquarium, we walked there and back. overall had a wonderful time at this hotel, we even stayed an extra night. I didn't like the continental breakfast. the first morning was ok, bagels muffins and fruit with coffee and juice was nice. But by the second morning i was over it. More variety would have been nice for the price per night at the hotel.
Rooms are very warm, inviting, and comfortable. Would appreciate it if you would install a Tesla charger (electric car) in your garage during your renovations. Tesla will give the wall charger to you upon request, you just have to install.
Great location, friendly staff. We stayed as a family and our daughter loved all the beautiful flowers. Easy walking distance to the beach and Downtown Monterey.
We were pleasantly surprised with the gorgeous room that featured high vaulted wooden cross-hatched ceilings, a romantic fireplace and balcony, two showers, a comfy couch with huge wall mounted tv, and a cute little kitchenette/dining area. It was super close to the wharf which is a huge plus. They charged me for the bottle of water I took in the fridge so be careful. It's a trap!
Clean, comfortable rooms, great prices. Leak in the shower caused water to flow into the rest of the bathroom after a few minutes.
Nice clean room and modern decor. The first night we were in a corner room which has no windows. We were able to move to a room with windows for the rest of our stay. Paid a lot as it was a big weekend for car racing and the hotel was cashing in on that by raising their prices as were all other hotels in the area. Not much choice for cheaper places to stay unless we stayed outside Monterey. If no events on then this hotel is priced reasonably.
easy to find. Reasonable breakfast.
the cleanliness and coverall comfort. location the tv did not work, and the tub/shower is slippery.
Location was great. On the main street leading to the tourist areas. The breakfast and eating area was messy, unclean, and unattended. We went somewhere else for breakfast.
My husband and i always stay here when we are in the Monterey area. Rooms are clean and the beds are pretty comfortable. Great location, close to an outlet mall with shopping and restaurants. And not a far drive from the warf. They have cleaned up the place since our first stay.
I was there for a conference, so I didn't use the facilities much. I enjoyed the room very much. It was nice, clean, and very comfortable. The staff was also attentive, courteous, and very professional
The hotel room was clean and comfortable. Easy to find and easy access to the highway and downtown Monterey. Parking was a little tight, but manageable.
Excellent Location for shopping, downtown & aquairum. Clean and quite. I was late for my arrival and unsure of process for checking in. No signs to clearly direct me to the check-in window.
Good bed; price; location Ice machine not working
Quiet rooms, curtains kept room dark when sleeping, all rooms ground floor. The fragrance of the room cleaner was very strong - we had to air out the rooms.
The first room had a strong smell but we were given another room which was fine. The location is convenient with a shopping mall nearby & easy access to local sights, etc. The staff were very honest and helpful when I had an issue with a credit card. Breakfast area was cramped & the choice is limited, but this is not unusual.
I will NEVER stay here again. They advertise $135 for 3 days including 10% tax...HOWEVER they charge $189 for the stay because of the tiny print indicating there is a $15 Room Service Fee. The owner had the audacity to laugh at my shock/distress...I work very hard for what little $ I earn and I tightly budget my spending. Also it doesn't feel good to be duped in this manner...I later checked: most motels in Monterey charge a $1 or $5 room service fee.
It had a fireplace. Expensive! The toilet was not secured to the floor, nor was the seat to the toilet. Bed was very old and sagged quite badly on both sides. The whole place seemed quite run down.
Price friendly staff and clean rooms Old TV, loud, bath products
We it the room with the jacuzzi tub and really enjoyed it. It was really elm antic and relaxing. Price was worth it. Excellent location for exploring Monterey. No complaints. The hotel is right on the street but if you are in one of the back row rooms I couldn't hear it.
I got two queen beds for a pretty cheap price. Located across from a shopping center with restaurants and Whole Foods market. I was able to book same day on Kayak. Parking was free and right in front of the room. micro and a/c did not work in room #8. (Plug wasn't working) Floor leaked near refrigerator. Easy to hear everyone else walking up stairs and talking outside the window. Breakfast was basically muffins and cold cereal. No pool. You get 1 room key and have to turn it in at the end or be charged $20. Bathroom door did not lock.
Hotel great location Aesthetics could be better i.e. furniture, interior
Location and friendly staff. The breakfast.
Friendly employees Bed was comfy Room was clean Free wifi Location Stayed here a few times, decent for what you pay The smell in the office Thin walls Cold at nights because the door doesn't seal, fixed by turning on the fireplace
Great location, able to book a room last minutes The facility is very old, and the walls are not sound proof at all. If you stay at a room near the stairs, you will hear cracking noise from the wood while people walking up and down. The heater was broken and the wifi is super slow. The beds are clean but the pillows are hard and flat. While the staff are generally very nice but they don't speak English very well, so it's not exactly easy to communicate.
N/A I am still surprised no one has called the health department yet and shut down this place. The towels were stained and gross, when I asked for new ones the front desk man/manager grabbed 3 other towels with his greasy hands and put them on the dirty counter, they were touching the floor and he gave them to me as cleaner ones...they also had stains. The shower curtain had mold..a lot of it, the floor had huge white stains and blankets holes from cigarettes. ..and the smell..oh boy!
They have fire places in some rooms. Found hair on the bed,& in the shower. The TV didn't work, nor did the alarm or one light. Main door did not properly close and light was coming in threw cracks.. very thin walls, could hear people in next room talking. The bed felt old and broken, the bed sheets were, well they were only top sheets. If you're so cheap you can't afford CAL KING bed sheets, maybe you shouldn't have a motel.....
The Rosedale Inn is understated when looking at it from the outside but the interior is all very modern and high quality. The rooms look as if they've just been upgraded because the bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub and all contemporary features. The setting is also great--wonderful wooded area.
Mildew in the shower, peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, dirty remote control, filthy doors, bugs (e.g. tick) in the room.
Clean comfortable suite. Nice view toward Point Lobos. Breakfast adequate. Would have been nice to have pool open during fall heatwave.
Close to downtown. On the website it said they have a pool. When we got there they said the pool was closed for the winter even though it was 80° out. They should update their website to reflect this. There were only four cars in the parking lot but they put someone in the room right next to us And they decided to wake up at 5 AM and start talking very loudly. It's only for family staying there they should've split us up to give us some privacy and quiet. Remote for the TV did not work as well.
Location was great! 1. Your ad said I had two options for this type of room: City view or Ocean view. I clicked on city view. In reality, I got a room on the second floor and a view of the building next door and the Subway down the street. VERY misleading ad and application form for your room. 2. I was given the option of a King or Double. The room was for my partner and I so I was hoping for a King. I've never received a double booking as a couple but this time I did. I called front desk to change my room when I got upstairs and they said I never specified King. Your website doesn't give a very obvious space for me to specify King though. 3. The room I was placed in was next to the weight room. It was loud because when people work out, they lick to drop weights which makes a lot of noise. This did not making sleeping very easy. 4. I tried paying for the internet but kept getting error messages. I'm good with computers and I'm certain this was a network issue and not a user error on my part. In short, I didn't get the room I expected, it was difficult sleeping at night bc we were so close to the weight room, there was no internet, and I don't understand how the front desk said I should have specified King bed when your online app form doesn't give me a space for that. I won't be staying at the Marriot any more in the future.
Centrally located allowing us to explore Monterey It is tired.
Not able to park my own car
The valet was super nice and helpful. The young woman checking me in was friendly as well. I was happy with my stay
As we were checking in, we were told that we had signed up for two queen beds. As this was the one night in over 4 years that we got to spend together without her kids, I had made sure when I reserved the room it was for a king bed. After 10 minutes of negotiating, the lady at the front desk assigned is to a wheelchair accessible room with the king bed. Paying $400+ for the night, we were not very happy with the type of room we were assigned to. The bed itself was very uncomfortable. The mattress was very cheap and sagging on each side. The pillows were made of practically nothing but air. To add to the lovely stay, at 1:00 am we were awoken to the the fire alarm going off and loud flashing blinking lights in our room. The entire hotel had to evacuate and after the fireman came to turn the alarm off, we went back to our room. It was safe to say at this point we wouldn't get much sleep. As we complained to the front desk about our stay, they apologized and offered nothing to us. I will NEVER stay at this Marriott again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Close to the shopping center. Easy parking. Free wireless internet connection. Small breakfast included. Brekfast a bit small, just cofee and muffins.
I really liked the location. We like to walk, so we were able to do a lot without having to drive. Convenient for the price. The room was not really clean, and the door looked like someone had tried to kick it in at some point, frame was warped. Very small room. Would have not wanted to stay here if our kids were with us.
It was close within driving distance to both Cannery Row and Fishermans wharf as well as Pacific Grove and Carmel. It was also close to Pt Lobos reserve. You could attend casual dining or dress up fancy dining. The manager was quite friendly, and the Motel was quite clean. It would be nice of the pool was heated instead of seasonal.
Rooms were clean, great bathrooms, excellent location, wonderful experience.
Very large bathroom and decent sized room. Pool was not heated.
