-location (convenient to I8)
-clean and comfortable beds
-coffee in the lobby
-very friendly and accommodating staff
-pretty good breakfast
-fridge, coffee maker, and microwave in the room
-A bit rundown (chips in the bathtub, damaged hot tub surface, non-functioning bath drain)
-variable water pressure and temperature
Cons: Had to have room changed because of excessive road noise

Cons: Run-down and very dated. Windows into bathroom from walkway outside has no closure. This place passed it's zenith in the mid-70s. Confused site layout, rooms hard to find at night. Sticky tables, chairs that collapse in the middle. Mismatched furniture.
Pros: Room View Pools and spa
Pros: I liked the fact that it was real quiet and it seemed as if we were the only ones there also liked the fact that we were able to walk out side for a beautiful view of the gulf course.
Pros: Beautiful clean lots of scenery friendly staff and golfers every where hidden gem
Cons: Kinda scary getting there at 1st at night off the beaten path but beautiful in the day time
Pros: The best hotel I stayed at in a very long time. I would love to stay there again.
Pros: We enjoyed our stay. Nice room near pool. Breakfast in restaurant was excellent.
Cons: An air conditioner in adjoining room was making incredible noise and kept us awake
Pros: The property was beautiful and tranquil, very well-kept.
Cons: When we arrived, the wi-fi didn't work; I could only connect intermittently, and when I did I still couldn't access the internet. Staff said they would get IT to work on it, but it behaved the same way until our departure two days later.
Pros: It was quiet, and it was nice to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The bathroom was great to get ready in, lots of mirrors and a heat lamp to warm it. The staff was terrific, very professional yet friendly.
Cons: They need to have room service until 10 pm. I returned hungry just after 9 pm. The maids need to empty the ash tray outside, there were cigarettes in it from the last guest. Parking near my room was difficult and to far away. No free breakfast.
Pros: Big room. Great view
Pros: Interior of rooms were great. We stayed for a tournament on the golf course. So, proximity obviously.
Cons: Walls seemed paper thin. The room next door had people chatting at 5am and we could hear them loud and clear.
Pros: The overall experience was great.
Sycuan Golf Resort is located in the serene Dehesa Valley, just 20 minutes east of San Diego International Airport. Featuring 54 holes of Ted Robinson-designed golf nestled among 425 acres of resort accommodations, Sycuan Caf & Grille and Echos Lounge, and the relaxing Primrose Spa. The casino features 24-hour casino action including 2,000 slots, 40 table games, bingo and a poker room. Concerts and several dining options are also offered.
Pros: Good location and we heard they have very nice rooms with suites. All of my friends had the same reservation wevended up with a studio they all had extra suites not sure how that happened .
Cons: They stop serving coffee in the lobby at 10 and check out time is 11. I was trying to keep them from having to wash any coffee pots in the room but when I came out there was no coffee after I checked out. Would have bed. Nice!
Winners Circle Resort features a nightclub and puts you within a 15-minute drive of University of California-San Diego and Carlsbad Premium Outlets. After visiting the fitness center for a workout, you can grab a bite to eat at one of the 2 restaurants or unwind with a drink at one of the 2 bars/lounges. An outdoor pool and a spa tub are other highlights, and rooms offer conveniences like kitchens and sofa beds.
Pros: The resort itself is absolutely beautiful with plenty activities, some for a price. But, if you plan on exploring the city of Escondido or visiting San Diego, a vehicle is required because the resort is in a very secluded area.
Cons: Didn't like the bottom level floor/ground level of the mountain villas.
Pros: Gym is the best equipped I have ever seen.
Lots of exercise & yoga classes available
Very nice Executive golf course
Staff for most part very helpful
They really try to keep you entertained right on the premises with shows, & other activities.
The units are very nicely laid out large & comfortable
If you have kids, lots of playgrounds, slides, & pools to play in.
Overall it's the staff & the rooms that make this a very nice relaxing stay
Cons: Terrible internet connection on my laptop
Location not convenient, have to drive some distance for evening out or dinner out
Pros: Comfortable beds, spacious for our family, washer & dryer in villa, fully stocked kitchen to prepare anything, helpful, friendly staff, and most of all, Esco is a short drive (minus CA traffic) to all sights.
Cons: We are a family of 6 and stayed mid July. This was our second stay at Welk and due to a lot of noise upstairs from us last year, we requested an upstairs villa this time. They were nice about accommodating our request however, when we pulled up to the villa, parking was limited because of construction. The first night we discovered ants crawling on the kitchen counter, so I called and they sent someone over to resolve the problem(but not completely). Oh and the people below us smoked, so whenever we chose to sit on the patio we were greeted with cigarette smoke. Construction began early in the mornings and it was loud. I can't help but think it was our fault for requesting an upstairs villa and that is all they had available. We stayed for 7 days and housekeeping came once. Let's just say I never felt comfortable removing my shoes inside the villa. The kids loved the rec center and the pool, however the latter was never kept clean. I overheard a guest mention how he could actually 'see his feet' today but then pointed out everything floating on the top of the water. None of this bothered me overly much until I took my kids to the pool on a Sat night around 7ish, and encountered a group of twenty year-old girls at the hot tub, drinking, cursing, and talking very loudly about their sexual escapades. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some prudish anti-fun individual and my kids are not completely ignorant about life but what those girls discussed made even me feel uncomfortable. We were about to leave until they took their party elsewhere, but I can't help but wonder what they were doing there in the first place? Were they with family, or did Welk rent a villa to a rowdy group of individuals who wanted to party in a family environment? We will not be returning next year.

Pros: Great courtyard area for gathering after a great day. The staff! Starbucks steps away for a morning wake up call.
Pros: We lived the location and the room and the staff was accommodating. Modern design was open and fresh.
Cons: Bed was very firm, as were all pillows.
Rowdy guests were very loud into the early morning and ruined our short stay at the pool area.
Pros: Location about a 10min walk from the beach and 15-20min walk from the train. Nice facilities though on site Starbucks is very expensive (greater than airport prices).
Cons: Evening staff not very knowledgeable/communicative about area in terms of transport, restaurants, beach access. Better in the morning.
Pros: Proximity to where I needed to be.
Cons: Useless restaurant, construction in process, faux wooden floor in room (no carpet), expensive and dangerous parking.
Pros: Justin helped us when we checked in and was nice and helpful. That was all I like about it. I have stayed in other Courtyards and I was surprised by how it lacked so much compared to the other Courtyards.
Cons: The "bistro" is a small fast food type place and their idea of Starbucks is about 5 coffee drinks they make. Their hot tub sits about 4 adults and 1 fire pit.
The rooms have no thermostats to control heat/cool, so I was getting up all night trying to get the room warm. The toilet kept making a noise when flushed and when I told them about it, they didn't even apologized. For the amount I paid, I expected it to be like the other Courtyards I have stayed at. I would recommend staying at the Holiday Inn down the street, alot nicer and cheaper.

It's a new stay!
Pros: Charming hotel a short walk from the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Parking is a bit tight. Drive a smaller vehicle if you can.
Pros: It is about 3 blocks from beach. Deck has ocean views and is great place to have your own happy hour - bring your goodies as rooms have a refrigerator. While not on the beach it is in the small town and there are lots of places to eat in walking distance.
The hotel is scheduled to undergo renovation later this year.
Cons: While room is large, bathroom does not have a private door. Internet is advertised as free and shows up in your room but does not work there and staff did not fix it, so you have to go to lobby. It calls itself a bed and breakfast, but don't expect much other than a continental.
Cardiff by the Sea Lodge features a rooftop terrace and puts you within a 15-minute drive of Carlsbad Premium Outlets. Guests can enjoy the spa tub, and hiking/biking trails and surfing/boogie boarding are nearby. There's a garden, and rooms offer refrigerators and free WiFi.
Pros: clean, new appliances. attractive decor, good bed, good price
Cons: lights too bright, pillows kinda hard (?)
Pros: The staff was very friendly, our room was very clean. Great value!!!
Pros: Nice place, clean, comfortable bed (probably the most comfortable bed of our entire California road trip), friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again. Everything about this place was a pleasant surprise.
Cons: Neighboring businesses made me wary before I checked in. It was in the search for San Diego hotels and I was booking several places so I guess I didn't double-check the map. Escondido is not staying in San Diego.
Pros: WOW, much better than what I was expecting for a Motel class establishment. Clean and tidy bathroom, room came with refrigerator and microwave standard, recently refurbished, staff (Bobby) was professional and prompt.
Pros: Clean bathroom
Cons: That it was located next to the Adult book store. That did not sit well with me.
Pros: Good value for the money. Check in and out was very easy. Continental breakfast was decent.
Cons: Rooms were very small. Furniture old and worn.
Cons: Came back to our room around 11 after going to a wedding. Our neighbors have the door wide open smoking weed and then were playing with large lighters and other drug paraphernalia in the bed. I couldn't sleep due to the fear the place would be bursting into flames. Awful. Tiny rooms, tiny bathrooms, dirty, grungy. $100 a night for this place on a Saturday. STAY AWAY.
UPDATE: after walking out of our room to check out and leave because I was so nervous. Caught of glimpse of what they were smoking with these large pipes: METH. I say this only because I made eye contact with one and their pupils were pinpoint small at 1am - it's dark so your pupils should be dilated. Could've been some other highly illegal substance- but appeared on all accounts as meth. So, good job. Door right open. The clerk simply said "you're checked out" upon us leaving.
I called the hotel and then priceline to attempt to get our money back. They could only say, "Sorry, but the hotel is non-smoking". Okay, well I'm sorry but maybe they thought that was exclusive to cigarettes? How am I reporting to you that OBVIOUSLY this was not the case hence my very upset demeanor upon checking out?
Also, rooms look nothing like the photos. Dirty, grimey, gross.
STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS MOTEL AS POSSIBLE. SPEND THE EXTRA $50 TO AT LEAST FEEL CLEAN AND SAFE ELSEWHERE.
Cons: if anything the location was kinda weird with the side road, but still not a problem after back tracking
Pros: clean, basic
Cons: small, shabby outside appearrance
At Motel Mediteran Safari Park, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Guests can take a dip in the outdoor pool, and free perks include continental breakfast, WiFi, and self parking. Rooms feature bonuses like refrigerators and microwaves.
Cons: All of the pillows have a chemical smell to them which causes an allergic reaction to my eyes, nose and throat with burning sensation as well as runny nose and very dry, itchy throat. Also footsteps could be heard from the upper floor all evening and early in the morning. The building structures are either old or thin ceiling that I could even heard opening and closing of the dresser drawers and shower door. Very annoying!
I called out to the front desk that same evening and talked to a male receptionist about the situations and was told that nothing could be done. I mentioned it again to a female receptionist while checking out the next morning and she said she saw the note of my complaint from the previous night and will pass it on to the Manager and that I will receive a follow up phone call. It has been a week and no one has called me. So much for customer service...
Pros: The main draw was that it was pet-friendly, so we were able to bring our dogs. Not only that, but there was no extra charge!
The hotel was super clean, had a pool and jacuzzi, and hot breakfast in the morning. Very impressed! The biscuits and gravy FTW!!
Pros: The location is great. Close to the beaches and the boutique shops. The breakfast was well supplied and the staff was OK. But try Air B&B for better value. After this we found several nice places at 1/3 the cost and much better breakfasts.
Cons: Doors, shower, lights and heating were broken. Then there was a fire alarm that kept going off at midnight. The fire department showed up and checked things out but it was obvious that the alarm had issues. But the staff blamed it on pranks from kids. No Way!! That was crap. This place needs to be repaired.

Pros: Always a pleasant stay - staff is great! Rooms are comfortable.
Cons: Remodel is occurring - can be noisy during the day.
Pros: Very friendly staff is enough to inspire us to return
Cons: Don't like that the restaurant next door opens late on Saturday morning.
Pros: I loved that they had a kitchenette, refrigerator, and cable. Its was a cool lil spot to be at for a couple days
Pros: Location, loveseat, fridge, microwave. Bed comfortable.
Cons: No coffee maker in room as advertised. Alarm clock not by bed.
Pros: Cheap room price
Cons: -Rooms smell like old sweaty socks
-Uncomfortable bed, sheets and pillows
-AC/Heater that is loud and probably from the 1970's
-TV definitely over 20 years old
- Old ugly carpets
- Old ugly paint
- Old ugly everything
At Escondido Lodge, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Guests can take a dip in the outdoor pool, and the spa tub makes for a relaxing end to the day. Rooms feature bonuses like refrigerators and microwaves.
Pros: We had to leave before breakfast started for an event. the front desk hunted down a couple of bananas for us, so our long bike ride was much more pleasant.
Pros: close to Fairgrounds for Junk Bonanza. the breakfast was amazing - hot meals rather than a donut and OJ. Balcony overlooking pool.
Cons: wish they had room service. front desk said Pizza Kitchen would deliver...they don't...had to walk for pick-up
Pros: nice hotel, convenient to hwy and restaurnants
Cons: Door lock did not work and I had to move rooms. The bathroom tub surface was pealing
Cons: Needs overall upgrading. They are starting to paint. It will be a plus. Just hope they do not stop there because the carpets really need to be replaced.
Pros: Great location. close to restaurants, track, beach, train.
Cons: They dont clean rooms well. Poor house cleaning team sorry to say.
Pros: Good breakfast
Cons: Horrible parking and now they charge $3 a day! Claims beach goers park in there... So tow them instead! Also the shower didn't drain well.
Pros: Nice, clean, reasonably priced. Located close to beautiful beach.
Cons: Exercise room was small and no light weights. Treadmill was warped and stairmaster didn't turn on. Also, don't have a room by the exercise room as they wake you up early.
Pros: Proximity to beach, Cedros Ave. Design district, train to San Diego.
Cons: Faint noise from floor above. No view of ocean.
Pros: The staff were very very friendly. close proximity to the beach
Pros: The staff was helpful and the location was close enough to walk down to the beach.
Cons: The pillows were too big and too firm to be comfortable. the room was very dated and smaller than expected.

Cons: Parking was atrocious.
Staff was rude and preoccupied with Snapchat (literally)
Pros: the hotel was clean and the pool area was clean. the staff for housekeeping was very nice. the wifi was great. the breakfast was good. the price you pay is exactly what you get.
Cons: the way the tv is program to shut off every 45 min. it is ridiculous . the front desk is terrible. they have no answers and refuse to try to get answers.
Pros: Rooms were newly done and clean.Staff was pleasant and nice, also had a swimming pool outside and only 25-30min downtown San Diego, loved the stay for the amount of money!
Cons: The toilet : it was so hard to flash..
Pros: Loved the fact that everything has been well kept and maintained. Looks like new ownership/new decorations.
Cons: People lingering around the hotel at night.
Cons: Old outdated building !!
Pros: Finally getting to check out the next day….
Cons: Everything about this place spells disaster. Right next to homeless shelter, bus station, goodwill and detention center all within no more than 1 mile in a circle around this place…
In the morning breakfast place where you get the "continental" breakfast - horrible food, there is toilet right next to the counter where the food is and the homeless people come in there all morning long and take a poop in the restroom and stink up the breakfast counter food and the entire room - makes you wanna throw up literally…no good run and believe all the crappy reviews!!!!
CHECK YELP REVIEWS…...
Cons: The AC was very loud, and the curtains covered the wall unit. Also, there were ants all over the bathroom.
Pros: I liked that it was in a good location.
Cons: The room we stayed in was horrible. The air condition did not work, room smelled like mold. My husband and I went to take a shower and there was no hot water. When I called the front desk, I was told sorry about that miss let me turn on the hot water. When I also talked to the front desk about the air conditioner I was told there is nothing that can be done right now the maintenance man is not here to fix it. I also complained about the smell and was told that there are no rooms available right now. The next day I complained again about the air conditioner and the smell. The front desk employee said that the maintenance man is still not here to fix it so since a room opened up he can move us to another room. When we moved to the other room it was nice the room smelled great and the air conditioner worked. The only problem with that room is that it had ants all over the counters and in the bathroom. My husband and I thought we would try to relax by getting in the hot tub. The hot tub was colder than the swimming pool. The hot tub also smelled really bad. Our trip was horrible. This trip was supposed to be a get away from our kids and relax. But because of the hotel and all of the problems we had with the room it ruined our trip. I will never stay at this hotel again and I don't recommend anyone else to stay there either.

Cons: Tile floor in room
Planters beds ground covers
Bath products were not good, low quality all
Pros: Location was OK as near relatives we were visiting
Cons: No complementary breakfast and no near by affordable restaurants. Grossly overpriced.
Pros: Loved the hot pools
Pros: I booked my stay at The Tuscany Hills Resort because the price was great and it was conveniently situated to reaching a wide number of San Diego locations I had to call on for business. What I got was a very authentic feeling Tuscan family style hideaway. The surrounding scenery was gorgeous, and the cascade of small "soaking pools" that flowed through a garden area connected by mini "waterfalls" were a delight to unwind in each evening and wake to in the crisp January mornings. Add a nicely decorated room and a full size swimming pool for the family, and this place offered loads of benefits at a meager price.
Pros: The 24 hour spa pools were nice. The resort was extremely quiet, relaxing, and the landscape was beautiful.
Cons: There were lots of spider webs in the room. The décor of the room was old and appeared unfinished.
Adjacent to a golf course, Tuscany Hills Retreat is a great choice for a stay in Escondido. Guests can take a dip in the outdoor pool and indulge in massages. A sauna and 4 spa tubs are other highlights, and rooms offer designer toiletries and free WiFi.
Pros: The staff was understanding and apologetic about the whole situation.
Cons: The room wasn't ready when we got there and the door was left open. Then a housekeeper cleaned it and the sheets were still stained, carpet was stained, the bathroom looks disgusting and you feel like you need sandals to even enter that thing. Room is tiny, but just feels dirty and dingy. I think we may have gotten an room that hadn't been renovated but even then, the whole atmosphere is just dingy. The jacuzzi room looks like a murder scene out of a movie and the pool patio is dusty. I guess from our door being left open, we got tons of mosquitos. Checked in at 3:30pm and checked out at 6pm. Like I said though, at least staff understood where we were coming from and we got a full refund. The area doesn't seem too kid friendly either. I'd just avoid this place. Everything in that room was just so dirty and being that I'm a clean freak, I just had to get out of there.
Pros: Front desk was very friendly and efficient.
The room was spacious with plenty of seating.
Nice to have fridge and microwave available. Fast internet enjoyable.
Price was exceptional value.
Cons: Due to construction materials parking was pretty tight.
Pros: Loved the black out curtains.
Staff was courteous and professional.
Denny's was next door.
Cons: Neighborhood didn't have a lot of variety re restaurant options.
Pros: Convenient location, easy to find, quiet, clean, and a very good value.
Cons: The advertised rate "wasn't available" when I booked the motel. The
Pros: We booked this hotel through Kayak to attend our daughter's softball tournament. Unfortunately, her tournament was cancelled at 5:00 p.m. the day we were supposed to check in. Kayak and this hotel graciously gave us a refund which was greatly appreciated.
Pros: The rooms were nice, comfortable, and stylish. Breakfast was available in the morning and there was a nice pool.
Cons: The carpet near the door way needed to be cleaned very bad.

Pros: Easy check in and the staff was very helpful.
Pros: The worst experience- Arrived at the hotel around 10PM. The A/C was not working. Called front desk for assis. It took an hour. Finally the front desk guy called back stating he was busy. He came close to 1AM but unable to help or give us a diff room.
Cons: WE got up early morning around 6AM. WEnt to use the toilet and flushed and the toilet overflew & spilled all over the bathroom. We had to rush and use the toilet by the lobby. Very disappointed!
Cons: Some ants crawling on bathroom floor
Pros: It was close to where we were going and it was decent..
Cons: Paper thin walls.. Had and old couple next to us yelling and using foul language and had to call the front desk..It was late and we have children.. Management notified the couple of the complaint right away and then they shut up..
Pros: Room was good.
Cons: Would have been nice to have more of a courtyard and pool that was desirable to use.
Cons: Shower didn't work, No refund
Pros: All good
Cons: No pool
Pros: The location was great, right off the freeway and close to shops and restaurants.
Cons: Housekeeping could do a better job of cleaning rooms. Pool in an corner behind pool, not very inviting.
Pros: Very clean, large room. Great location too. Easy freeway access.
Pros: Very clean , nice rooms
Cons: Wish there was a bathtub .
Cons: Paid extra for breakfast buffet, however, was told that there was no buffet, but that there was a restaurant on premises.
Pros: location is good for us

Cons: There were ants in the bathroom and hair in the bathtub.
Cons: Our room smelled like butter that went bad
Pros: Room was dark and quiet for sleeping. Bed was comfortable & nice pillows. Friendly staff.
Cons: Breakfast on weak side. Make eggs and bacon easier to hey to, not in corner.
Cons: Very bad experience, poor plumbing. Room had bad odor. Not staying here again!
Pros: The location worked well for us, as it was close places we visited and there were good choices of restaurants and shopping close by.
A nice walk along the nearby Escondido River was a pleasant surprise too.
The staff was very warm and helpful. The pool and spa were nice.
I would stay there again.
Cons: The phone in the room did not work, but the staff fixed it right away.

Cons: The staff is not friendly , we were a travelling family and arrived very late at night . The desk attendant was uncaring and insisted we pay extra fee for a mistake with online booking to downgrade from a king-size room to a standard double bed.
Also there was no parking space available, Guest parking lot was small and trasy. We had to park down the street and walk in dark night..
Pros: Tv, bed, shower
Cons: The clerk warned me ahead of time not to call him, but tech support when I inevitably can't log into the wifi.
Breakfast is terrible.
Receipt had to be specifically requested
Pros: Comfy beds, free breakfast and wifi
Cons: Construction in the pool area under my window early in the morning.
Pros: Very friendly staff. Clean room. Central location for El Cajon. Some traffic noise, but mostly in the early morning. Good value overall
Cons: If you something more than a simple hotel room this isn't the place, but if you want someplace simply to stay, it works well.

Pros: That it was fairly close to the beach. The $80 price that I was quoted at first somehow was quoted for Sunday night instead of Saturday. It ended up costing me way more than I planned.
Cons: Location was ok and room was ok except I am a woman alone and had to carry all my luggage up 3 flights of stairs and the parking was poor. Very difficult to even get into the place.
Was very disappointed that the price ended up being $140.00 instead of the $80.00 which I know that I put in Saturday but my confirmation showed Sunday so I had to quickly just change the date and did not have time to find another place. I would have preferred to pay that much at a better place.
Pros: Great friendly staff
Nice and quiet
Fridge and microwave a plus
Cons: old tv
When you stay at Escondido Inn, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Guests will have free perks like WiFi, self parking, and wired Internet. Rooms feature bonuses like refrigerators and microwaves.
Pros: Good AC , fridge, bed clean, no one will bother you
Cons: Stole my cell phone charger, weak shower, AC leaked water. Pool looked to gross to enter. One ice machine on whole property
Pros: Complimentary breakfast was great!
Cons: Rooms seemed dirty. Graffiti on furniture. No shower curtain. But I guess you get what you pay for....
Pros: Front desk guy was nice.
Cons: Appearance. Cleanliness. Quality. Value. Had to switch rooms due to missing items from first room. Second room had the items desired, but the smell was awful and the shower and sink were not functioning properly.
Cons: I found a cockroach alive in a dresser.
Pros: Price is good, location is convenient. Hotel was quiet. Free wireless internet worked just fine. More space in bathroom than I would have expected for the price.
Cons: Breakfast is a little minimal (waffles, cereal, toast, coffee, juice), but that's fair given the price of the room. Similarly, there's not much of a lobby, but I didn't need that.
