I love this place. They are always kind, courteous and as accommodating as they can be. The staff here is actually on of the one reasons why we choose to stay here. If you need a place to stay, this place is it. None
The room was very nice and clean. The bed was comfy but not the best. I would recommend this hotel due to the pretty good breakfast and great TV/WIFI combination.
clean pool, and nice service breakfast is very poor ,this is very important for visitors and for business people.
This is an older hotel which hasn't been updated in over a decade from the looks of things. Room was a bit small. Towels were low quality. Wifi signal was weak.
Nice room with microwave and fridge. Great staff (clerk and cleaning ladies) Nice breakfast. nothing!
Location close to my client, staff was nice, adequate parking, room was acceptable for the price. The area was sketchy and some of the other guests seemed rather unsavory.
Loud work was going on over my head-grinding & whining & slamming and it kept startling my dog which would yip & startle me, so it was a crummy day
I enjoy that they had BOTH microwave AND fridge in the room. The fact it included breakfast was a bonus. The room was clean but despite the non smoking sign it did smell a bit of tobacco. We had trouble connecting to Wi-Fi at both this and another Best Western. That was the only negative. The floor lamp on top of the room safe was a bit cheesy. The inability to connect to Wi-Fi was a problem because we wanted to watch one of our movies on Vudu. Wet just watched TV instead.
The receptionist was friendly but nothing solves dirty rooms. The room way nasty like it was never cleaned ever! the next room was just as bad or worse. I stayed for 15-30 mins max before I had to find a new hotel. This was a total waste of money and time. Unless you don't mind dirty rooms stay here its cheap!!
Blood stain on side of comforter from previous traveler. Toilet had feces in it when my daughters and I came in the room. The manager told me that Kayak booked a smoking room for me when I clearly had a written confirmation of non-smoking. I had to negotiate a full refund for over two hours so that I could find a clean room in another hotel. I was psychologically damaged from the uncleanliness of a room that claims to be Best Western when they don't adhere to its policy or practice. We arrived to the best western by 3pm, 9:30pm is when we were finally able to settle into our new hotel. I left San Diego exhausted from my experience. I think the hotel should get new owners or Best Western should investigate the hotel every now and then because it makes me scared to ever stay in any best western.
It was nice and private room. Hd tv and we also had internet that actually worked. The shower was small and the bathtup didnt work water so i wasn't able to fill it. the room also looked clean at first but i found crumpled up tissue under the bed kind of nasty and also the beed sheets weren't clean. There were several brown stains in the coners
Dog friendly, front desk was nice, convenient location in poway They couldn't fInd my reservation, but that is probably an issue with bookaroom/kayak.com. Room was never cleaned during our stay. People coming in late/drunk were loud. Oh, and someone died in the room next door.
Comfortable bed, great shower and friendly accommodating staff! And, within walking distance of extended family. Window screen needs repair & forgot to mention it to them on my exit.
The electrical outlet in our bathroom did not work and my girlfriend could not dry her hair both of the nights of our stay (using hair dryer provided by hotel, attached to wall in bathroom). I told the woman at the Front Desk after the first night and she did not do anything about it. It left a rather sour taste in our mouth and we will not be staying at that Ramada again.
Clean bathroom That it was located next to the Adult book store. That did not sit well with me.
Nothing Came back to our room around 11 after going to a wedding. Our neighbors have the door wide open smoking weed and then were playing with large lighters and other drug paraphernalia in the bed. I couldn't sleep due to the fear the place would be bursting into flames. Awful. Tiny rooms, tiny bathrooms, dirty, grungy. $100 a night for this place on a Saturday. STAY AWAY. UPDATE: after walking out of our room to check out and leave because I was so nervous. Caught of glimpse of what they were smoking with these large pipes: METH. I say this only because I made eye contact with one and their pupils were pinpoint small at 1am - it's dark so your pupils should be dilated. Could've been some other highly illegal substance- but appeared on all accounts as meth. So, good job. Door right open. The clerk simply said "you're checked out" upon us leaving. I called the hotel and then priceline to attempt to get our money back. They could only say, "Sorry, but the hotel is non-smoking". Okay, well I'm sorry but maybe they thought that was exclusive to cigarettes? How am I reporting to you that OBVIOUSLY this was not the case hence my very upset demeanor upon checking out? Also, rooms look nothing like the photos. Dirty, grimey, gross. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS MOTEL AS POSSIBLE. SPEND THE EXTRA $50 TO AT LEAST FEEL CLEAN AND SAFE ELSEWHERE.
Bed if anything the location was kinda weird with the side road, but still not a problem after back tracking
WOW, much better than what I was expecting for a Motel class establishment. Clean and tidy bathroom, room came with refrigerator and microwave standard, recently refurbished, staff (Bobby) was professional and prompt.
Good value for the money. Check in and out was very easy. Continental breakfast was decent. Rooms were very small. Furniture old and worn.
Nice place, clean, comfortable bed (probably the most comfortable bed of our entire California road trip), friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again. Everything about this place was a pleasant surprise. Neighboring businesses made me wary before I checked in. It was in the search for San Diego hotels and I was booking several places so I guess I didn't double-check the map. Escondido is not staying in San Diego.
The staff was very friendly, our room was very clean. Great value!!! Na
clean, basic small, shabby outside appearrance
clean, new appliances. attractive decor, good bed, good price lights too bright, pillows kinda hard (?)
2 bedroom unit was very room.
Gym is the best equipped I have ever seen. Lots of exercise & yoga classes available Very nice Executive golf course Staff for most part very helpful They really try to keep you entertained right on the premises with shows, & other activities. The units are very nicely laid out large & comfortable If you have kids, lots of playgrounds, slides, & pools to play in. Overall it's the staff & the rooms that make this a very nice relaxing stay Terrible internet connection on my laptop Location not convenient, have to drive some distance for evening out or dinner out
It was beautifully decorated and very spacious. everything was very clean and it was very quiet and family orientated
The resort itself is absolutely beautiful with plenty activities, some for a price. But, if you plan on exploring the city of Escondido or visiting San Diego, a vehicle is required because the resort is in a very secluded area. Didn't like the bottom level floor/ground level of the mountain villas.
This was an excellent central location for enjoying Sea World, Lego Land, Wild Animal Park, San Diego Zoo & the ocean. Weather was consistently about 5-10 degrees C warmer at the resort than on the coast. The pool and waterpark at the hotel is ideal for a family vacation.
the front desk was not friendly and helpful; they did not inform us that they do not provide crib service ahead of our arrival; they do not have shuttle service when they are in the middle of no where.
Everything was very nice. Very clean and I liked that. It was very noisey. Heard people above me and beside me.
Comfortable beds, spacious for our family, washer & dryer in villa, fully stocked kitchen to prepare anything, helpful, friendly staff, and most of all, Esco is a short drive (minus CA traffic) to all sights. We are a family of 6 and stayed mid July. This was our second stay at Welk and due to a lot of noise upstairs from us last year, we requested an upstairs villa this time. They were nice about accommodating our request however, when we pulled up to the villa, parking was limited because of construction. The first night we discovered ants crawling on the kitchen counter, so I called and they sent someone over to resolve the problem(but not completely). Oh and the people below us smoked, so whenever we chose to sit on the patio we were greeted with cigarette smoke. Construction began early in the mornings and it was loud. I can't help but think it was our fault for requesting an upstairs villa and that is all they had available. We stayed for 7 days and housekeeping came once. Let's just say I never felt comfortable removing my shoes inside the villa. The kids loved the rec center and the pool, however the latter was never kept clean. I overheard a guest mention how he could actually 'see his feet' today but then pointed out everything floating on the top of the water. None of this bothered me overly much until I took my kids to the pool on a Sat night around 7ish, and encountered a group of twenty year-old girls at the hot tub, drinking, cursing, and talking very loudly about their sexual escapades. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some prudish anti-fun individual and my kids are not completely ignorant about life but what those girls discussed made even me feel uncomfortable. We were about to leave until they took their party elsewhere, but I can't help but wonder what they were doing there in the first place? Were they with family, or did Welk rent a villa to a rowdy group of individuals who wanted to party in a family environment? We will not be returning next year.
The location is great. Close to the beaches and the boutique shops. The breakfast was well supplied and the staff was OK. But try Air B&B for better value. After this we found several nice places at 1/3 the cost and much better breakfasts. Doors, shower, lights and heating were broken. Then there was a fire alarm that kept going off at midnight. The fire department showed up and checked things out but it was obvious that the alarm had issues. But the staff blamed it on pranks from kids. No Way!! That was crap. This place needs to be repaired.
The main draw was that it was pet-friendly, so we were able to bring our dogs. Not only that, but there was no extra charge! The hotel was super clean, had a pool and jacuzzi, and hot breakfast in the morning. Very impressed! The biscuits and gravy FTW!!
Location, loveseat, fridge, microwave. Bed comfortable. No coffee maker in room as advertised. Alarm clock not by bed.
Cheap room price -Rooms smell like old sweaty socks -Uncomfortable bed, sheets and pillows -AC/Heater that is loud and probably from the 1970's -TV definitely over 20 years old - Old ugly carpets - Old ugly paint - Old ugly everything
Very friendly staff is enough to inspire us to return Don't like that the restaurant next door opens late on Saturday morning.
I loved that they had a kitchenette, refrigerator, and cable. Its was a cool lil spot to be at for a couple days
Always a pleasant stay - staff is great! Rooms are comfortable. Remodel is occurring - can be noisy during the day.
Convenience to my sisters house. There were ants in the bathroom and hair in the bathtub.
Very bad experience, poor plumbing. Room had bad odor. Not staying here again!
Breakfast on weak side. Make eggs and bacon easier to hey to, not in corner.
Our room smelled like butter that went bad
Room was dark and quiet for sleeping. Bed was comfortable & nice pillows. Friendly staff.
The location worked well for us, as it was close places we visited and there were good choices of restaurants and shopping close by. A nice walk along the nearby Escondido River was a pleasant surprise too. The staff was very warm and helpful. The pool and spa were nice. I would stay there again. The phone in the room did not work, but the staff fixed it right away.
Right near freeway access. The poor condition of the room, building, furniture or the extra inhabitants (Roaches).
very comfortable some loud people outside my door all hours of the night.
Close to my work, It can be noisey at times.
My girlfriend loved the mattress and pillows. I liked the pool and hot tub (not that hot, but good enough). It's in a very central location to get wherever needed in San Diego, and in our case Sea World. The staff also was very friendly. I checked in about 1 a.m. and the gentleman was very pleasant. My girlfriend also asked if she could get another mini bottle of shampoo/conditioner, and he gave me two. People who are bugged if things are not super spotless and new would have a problem, but if you know what you're getting with one of the least expensive options, then you'll be pleasantly surprised. Again, not much to dislike if you're prepared for a budget-friendly option. I was pleasantly surprised at this place as it was a great value. Maybe the toughest thing was parking, but there was a space when we checked in around 1 a.m. Saturday and when we got back from our day trip around 11 p.m. Saturday.
Access from freewa is fast. Staff was excellent and flexible, very helpful with the cheking in. Enough parking space. free wifi. Pool and jaguzzi was nice, the location could be better, away from the freeway. When we arrived it smelled lioke a dogg had stayed in our room resently, that was no too nice. Breakfast could have been better.
This hotel has drug and prostitution activity. They have a policeman standing security at night and we watched him run off a prostitue, but it still goes on during the day. No hair dryer, and the frige didn't work. Got the room for $45 a night thats the only reason we stayed.
They had a pool and a hot tub. It was not difficult to locate. Nearby shopping ant eating places. Ran out of breakfast food too fast.
I do not have a response to this question.
Looks nice Customer service wasnt great i got booked for the wrong day and couldn't get a refund due to the date of cancellation being on the 23rd and it was the 24th when i booked it...made no sense at all i was charged full price to cancel.
I like the coffee and sweet rolls for breakfast, convience of laundry, location, price, and hot tub. Noisy neghbors, a cockroach in the room, and a rat running around in the pool area.
Just about everything! The room was spacious and clean. Great experience with the staff. They were polite, friendly and there to help me with directions and getting checked in. It is a great location central to everything. I will stay there again for sure. There was some sort of a domestic dispute outside of my room (like a couple arguing) and then there was a car load of people sleeping@ 7am in the parking lot right next to my car .
We were extremely please with everything. Room comfortable. The only area for improvement would be the prking. People were taking up more than one space per car and parking at night was difficult.
Justin helped us when we checked in and was nice and helpful. That was all I like about it. I have stayed in other Courtyards and I was surprised by how it lacked so much compared to the other Courtyards. The "bistro" is a small fast food type place and their idea of Starbucks is about 5 coffee drinks they make. Their hot tub sits about 4 adults and 1 fire pit. The rooms have no thermostats to control heat/cool, so I was getting up all night trying to get the room warm. The toilet kept making a noise when flushed and when I told them about it, they didn't even apologized. For the amount I paid, I expected it to be like the other Courtyards I have stayed at. I would recommend staying at the Holiday Inn down the street, alot nicer and cheaper.
Proximity to where I needed to be. Useless restaurant, construction in process, faux wooden floor in room (no carpet), expensive and dangerous parking.
We lived the location and the room and the staff was accommodating. Modern design was open and fresh. Bed was very firm, as were all pillows. Rowdy guests were very loud into the early morning and ruined our short stay at the pool area.
Location about a 10min walk from the beach and 15-20min walk from the train. Nice facilities though on site Starbucks is very expensive (greater than airport prices). Evening staff not very knowledgeable/communicative about area in terms of transport, restaurants, beach access. Better in the morning.
Great courtyard area for gathering after a great day. The staff! Starbucks steps away for a morning wake up call. Nothing
It is about 3 blocks from beach. Deck has ocean views and is great place to have your own happy hour - bring your goodies as rooms have a refrigerator. While not on the beach it is in the small town and there are lots of places to eat in walking distance. The hotel is scheduled to undergo renovation later this year. While room is large, bathroom does not have a private door. Internet is advertised as free and shows up in your room but does not work there and staff did not fix it, so you have to go to lobby. It calls itself a bed and breakfast, but don't expect much other than a continental.
Charming hotel a short walk from the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. Parking is a bit tight. Drive a smaller vehicle if you can.
Beautiful clean lots of scenery friendly staff and golfers every where hidden gem Kinda scary getting there at 1st at night off the beaten path but beautiful in the day time
I liked the fact that it was real quiet and it seemed as if we were the only ones there also liked the fact that we were able to walk out side for a beautiful view of the gulf course. N/A
It was quiet, and it was nice to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The bathroom was great to get ready in, lots of mirrors and a heat lamp to warm it. The staff was terrific, very professional yet friendly. They need to have room service until 10 pm. I returned hungry just after 9 pm. The maids need to empty the ash tray outside, there were cigarettes in it from the last guest. Parking near my room was difficult and to far away. No free breakfast.
Room View Pools and spa
The best hotel I stayed at in a very long time. I would love to stay there again. NOTHING
Interior of rooms were great. We stayed for a tournament on the golf course. So, proximity obviously. Walls seemed paper thin. The room next door had people chatting at 5am and we could hear them loud and clear.

We enjoyed our stay. Nice room near pool. Breakfast in restaurant was excellent. An air conditioner in adjoining room was making incredible noise and kept us awake
The property was beautiful and tranquil, very well-kept. When we arrived, the wi-fi didn't work; I could only connect intermittently, and when I did I still couldn't access the internet. Staff said they would get IT to work on it, but it behaved the same way until our departure two days later.

Big room. Great view No
Only rooms available were smoking rooms
Friendly staff! Thin walls, loud tv on the room next door
The girl whom checked me in was quit effected and able to accomdate my special needs immediately and it even lowered my price by a few dollars. The microwave in the vending area really needs to be updated it took 5 mins in to heat up a cup of water.
Close to freeway and local businesses. Not enough towels as they only gave 1 towel per person. The towels are too little for a bigger person to even wrap around their waist (200 lbs). Pillow are lumpy! Many stains on bed cover. Floor was dirty with a clump of hair on the floor.
Better than most Motel 6. Rooms are very small but clean. Over all it's just an average hotel. Nothing special just a room with a bed.
absolutely none... Where do I begin... no microwave or fridge in the room and when asking about them apparently there are only 6 rooms with fridges... oh yea, I forgot to mention that a friend of mine was hit in the face with a brick when walking back from 7-11... wow!!!
Right off the freeway. The staff was rude. Said I had to wait 45 minutes before they could confirm my reservation. The room smelled and so did the linens. They block off the parking lot at night with armed guards. Druggies and homeless hanging around.
I liked the location and the freeway access. There was only 1 iron for the whole hotel and the toilet didn't work in the room.
The smell of the room..
They gave us the smoking since we booked non smoking room.

Getting out alive was appreciated. What's not to like about 1 towel for two people, 1/3 of a roll of toilet paper, and a paper thin 'blanket'? The transient parade was a nice touch!
Pros: -DirectTV -location (convenient to I8) -clean and comfortable beds -coffee in the lobby -very friendly and accommodating staff -pretty good breakfast -fridge, coffee maker, and microwave in the room Cons: -A bit rundown (chips in the bathtub, damaged hot tub surface, non-functioning bath drain) -Freeway noise -variable water pressure and temperature
Had to have room changed because of excessive road noise
the hotel was clean and the pool area was clean. the staff for housekeeping was very nice. the wifi was great. the breakfast was good. the price you pay is exactly what you get. the way the tv is program to shut off every 45 min. it is ridiculous . the front desk is terrible. they have no answers and refuse to try to get answers.
Nothing Old outdated building !!
The toilet : it was so hard to flash..
Finally getting to check out the next day…. Everything about this place spells disaster. Right next to homeless shelter, bus station, goodwill and detention center all within no more than 1 mile in a circle around this place… In the morning breakfast place where you get the "continental" breakfast - horrible food, there is toilet right next to the counter where the food is and the homeless people come in there all morning long and take a poop in the restroom and stink up the breakfast counter food and the entire room - makes you wanna throw up literally…no good run and believe all the crappy reviews!!!! CHECK YELP REVIEWS…...
Loved the fact that everything has been well kept and maintained. Looks like new ownership/new decorations. People lingering around the hotel at night.
Rooms were newly done and clean.Staff was pleasant and nice, also had a swimming pool outside and only 25-30min downtown San Diego, loved the stay for the amount of money!
Room was clean and updated. Parking was atrocious. Staff was rude and preoccupied with Snapchat (literally)
The AC was very loud, and the curtains covered the wall unit. Also, there were ants all over the bathroom.
I liked that it was in a good location. The room we stayed in was horrible. The air condition did not work, room smelled like mold. My husband and I went to take a shower and there was no hot water. When I called the front desk, I was told sorry about that miss let me turn on the hot water. When I also talked to the front desk about the air conditioner I was told there is nothing that can be done right now the maintenance man is not here to fix it. I also complained about the smell and was told that there are no rooms available right now. The next day I complained again about the air conditioner and the smell. The front desk employee said that the maintenance man is still not here to fix it so since a room opened up he can move us to another room. When we moved to the other room it was nice the room smelled great and the air conditioner worked. The only problem with that room is that it had ants all over the counters and in the bathroom. My husband and I thought we would try to relax by getting in the hot tub. The hot tub was colder than the swimming pool. The hot tub also smelled really bad. Our trip was horrible. This trip was supposed to be a get away from our kids and relax. But because of the hotel and all of the problems we had with the room it ruined our trip. I will never stay at this hotel again and I don't recommend anyone else to stay there either.
