excelent location, beautifully decorated hotel, spacious room, excellent service, good selection of food for breakfast
Although the hotel looks great in its website - the pictures actually don't do it justice. It is a fabulous little jewel of a hotel tucked away in the best part of fantastic Prague. Senior staff are very good. The pool is tiny and cold; and the service, especially in the spa, is a bit hit and miss - my wife made a manicure appointment which was not fulfilled and poorly handled.
The Alchymist is a lovely luxury hotel with very attentive staff and beautiful decor that really suits the prague experience. I chose not to use the spa as the services are really quite expensive.
The Alchymist is a beautiful boutique hotel, perfectly positioned for all of Prague's attractions. The staff were the best we have experienced, polite, extremely helpful & informative. The Alchymist made our holiday a most memorable one. Thanks
I like the location of this hotel - in Mala strana. Also the SPA-center in this hotel is very nice. It's real pleasure to visit it.
This is a luxury hotel and priced accordingly. Everything about the place is first class. The decor is beautiful from the rooms to the reception to the lounges, breakfast room and exterior. The staff is efficient and very helpful. The whole place is comfortable. Nothing to dislike.
Excellent environment feeling like home with very personal service Not enough room provisions like bottled water etc.
From the welcoming smile to the opulance of the, to the location every thing was perfect. If you want to spoil your wife/partner this is the place.
ambiance and staff
Helpful staff, great breakfast Very small room for the price
It was great. The staff was very nice and gave a feeling to be very welcome. There was nothing I did not like. I am very often in good hotels but mostly the difference is the friendlyness of the staff. Friendly staff is the result of very good management.
The service was absolutely fantastic. Well run hotel I would also like to say that I have stayed all over the world in many hotels, and this is definitely one of the best! Nothing!!!
The staff were incredibly hospitable and accommodating. We had a small problem with the room which was allocated to us and they immediately sorted the problem out for us, in a friendly and polite fashion. No, but as all the rooms don't have a bath, make sure you request a room with one, if that is what you want.
The location is perfect for walking to the centre and hystorical sites and shopping locations. The comfort of the room, sitting area and bathroom not up to par.
The design of the hotel and also the relax atmosphere made our stay very enjoyable. The staff was really friendly, helpful and welcoming. The SPA is really really nice. And the food for room service or the restaurant was delicious.
High standard of service in a sympathetically renovated building. Asian fusion a bit strange in Prague.
Great location, in between the charles castle and the charles bridge. Very accessible to all of the city. St.Nikolaus church 2 min away, plenty of shops, restaurants, supermarket nearby. Room was very spacious, tea/coffee provided for. Bath robes provided. some english channels available on tv. suite was very pleasant. free wifi. staff pleasant. baggage storage facilities, free use of pc and tea/coffee facilities in hotel lobby, which we were free to use after checkout, printed out boarding passes for us also. while the suite was lovely - we were located on the first floor, noise levels very loud during the night and early morning. would prefer to stay at back of hotel or maybe higher floor , as noise levels did rise throughout the night.
The location, only minutes from the Charles bridge and lots of nice restaurants close by. Nothing.
The most important is the place where the hotel is situated. At 50 m from Charles Bridge and very close to Castle is everything you can get in order to have a perfect day in Prague. Hitting was not satisfactory. In bathroom was very hot but in the room was not so good ambient. The most embarrassing thing is that you have to use the card to open the light and key for opening the door. Each time when you were leaving the room in the night you should have to take out he card and then find the locker to open the door..
Well positioned for sightseeing, an elegant building with style Decor in need of update but not a big problem. Better shower arrangements would be useful
Hotel is very close charles bridge. Nothing
cleaned room N/A
cosy and quiet...! not having my own tea and coffee maker in my room
hotel was in a great location staff freindly hotel very clean and comfy would go back and will recomend
The location of the hotel is so special. it is in the middle of everything. There are three building having the same management of charles hotel. so, we found our selves not booking on the original charles and they shifted us to another building. The staff at checkout was so arogant and not helpful at all.
good location. helpful staff, very clean & comfortable, would recommend no
It was quiet due to the zone where it is located. Breakfast was a bit poor
The reception staff was very friendly and helpful and the hotel's airport shuttle functioned perfect. The room (superior) was both clean and nice decorated, and the breakfast was tasteful. The location in Nerudova was great, and the street itself a beautiful adventure
This hotel was located in the older part of Prague right under the castle, with convenient access to the castle and gardens. This hotel is comprised of several different adjacent connecting buildings, which meant we needed to take an elevator up one floor, then go up and down several stair cases to get to our room. With luggage this was not convenient, but thankfully we are still young and this wasn't a major problem. Also, our room was right at street level, so we couldn't open the windows for ventilation as people could see right in, and it was a little noisy for sleeping. (I imagine this wouldn't be a problem for the majority of rooms at this hotel)
Good location, helpful staff. Weather forecasts and free English-language newspapers at breakfast were nice touches.
new part of this hotel has very nice style and design some of the staff wasnt very friendly and helpfull, but generally they were OK
Great breakfast Noisy room
Monika was awesome at the reception desk. She was incredibly helpful, as was John. Didn't like the narrow stairs up to my room...
location ; comfort ; design ; staff hospitality and efficiency Noise in the corridors during the night ; no spa neither swimming pool
The design of the rooms were really really interesting. I loved how the building itself was like a little town in itself with little narrow walkways and cobbled areas. We had the best service by reception - I think her name was Mariona... she was from Tunisia and was lovely, fast, efficient and super-friendly. She made us love the hotel more. The bath is exposed, so it's impossible to have a shower while your partner is trying to sleep. We found the rooms a little dim too.
The rooms are amazingly decorated I was given a room at the end of the hotel and just going and coming from/to my room is an adventure it self The breakfast is nice Location is perfect, though it is located just next to the castel you will still need to walk upwards to which may be a problem for aged people Walking up to the hotel is quite exhusting Price varise alot, early bookings saves you minimum 50 euro a night
Location was great, good value, and good breakfast. No air conditioning, so it could be uncomfortable in hot weather. The hotel was designed so it looked beautiful, but in practical terms, it was a little uncomfortable - the rooms were small and the shower (while beautifully designed) flooded the vanity and toilet with water.
Very good price, great interior, views from the restaurant and balcony are stunning. Staff is friendly. We were locked out one evening after coming back around 1am. Beforehand, they told us there would always be someone there, so there wasn'T. Make sure you tell them specifically you will go out and come back after midnight and keep their telephone number with you at all times.
Comfy beds, great bathroom, nice staff, good breakfast, close to Prague Castle. Only about 10 channels on TV, and none of them in English. Directions via public transport not posted. Had to hike up the steep hill with our heavy luggage because we didn't know that Tram 22 and 23 stop right above the hotel.
Good hotel location and a very nice, historical room. Breakfast was not wery good - weak selection. There was only instant coffe.
Lovely worm atmoshier. Very good location in the city. You feel like home.
The hotel is in busy area but rooms are nice and quiet.
the ancient feel to the rooms and breakfast! no
Beautifully converted old building, comfortable accommodation, prime location in the historical patr of the city, good accesibility. Quiet unobtrusive attitude of the staff. More proffesionalism would be appreciated( serving breakfast)
Nice and quiet location, wonderful old monastery perfectly renovated, wonderful view from the breakfast room. One of the ladies at the reception was really impolite, especially the first night.
fantastic view of Prague city from the room; good breakfast; excellent free coffee machine in foyer; small, family-run Rather expensive
Hotel is located in former church and former psychiatric hospital. The location is very good witch nice view from dining room. Nice old ceiling beams in the room. Good breakfasts. The room was too dark.
Clean rooms with good standard (recent renovation). Central location in Prague We got a room towards main road. Very noisy, but too hot to sleep without open windows. Air Condition should have been installed at the rooms towards main road.
Very good buffet breakfast, and clean room. Pleasant staff. Rom overlooked the main road with traffic lights outside. This meant lots of noise from trams and traffic all night. Room was also on the small side, with only one bedside lamp.
Pleasent atmosphere.Good spacious room. Convenient to all places of interest. Arrived late at night but still managed to get good meal at nearby rest./bar Tram/Taffic noice early in morning
location and price. room is very small.
Very helpful staff with good English. Very nice choice for buffet breakfast: mainly cold, but included scrambled egg and amazing garlic spinach. Good location not far from the Charles Bridge. Small point, but it matters more if you are slightly disabled. The lift does not call at the actual floors but stops at the landings half-way between floors, so you still have to lug your luggage up or down flights of stairs.
The hotel was clean and we had a large twin room on the top floor. There were plenty of options for breakfast and the dining room was pleasant. When we arrived to check in, the Hotel tried to relocate us to another hotel because they had overbooked. We were there for a conference in the building next door (this Hotel had been recommended by the conference organisers). The relocated hotel would have been 30 mins away by tram. We said it was unacceptable and they found a room for us. They tried to relocate every person who checked in that day, including colleagues from our conference. The light in our room was very dim. There was no overhead light, just lamps, and one of the bedside lamps did not work.
Excellent location no need any public transportation to discovere all main touristical attractions. The front wing rooms are extremly noisy but when we required an other room it was changed a very silent yard room.
Very close to Charlers bridge and it's well connected to the main attractions (the tram station is just in front of the hotel). The reception lady was very helpful. We arrived to Prague around 7am and they were able to find a room for us. We went to breakfast at 9am but most of the food was finished by that time and they didn't hurry to replenish it. So next day we made sure to come down at 8 am. Jam they serve is uneatable and they charge for espresso
Room was very clean, breakfast was pretty good. Good location to see everything in the city. Parking was very close and secure. Our room was very small and I knew there was no air conditioning but they could at least put a fan in the room- it was very hot during our stay. Our beds were extremely hard.
The location was excellent
the style of the building outside. location in Lesser town, very convenient go up Prague Castle. the furry blankets/rugs. these collect dust. I suggest you do colored cloths instead for accent & not fur. people have allergies. Breakfast can be improved on.
Room had impeccable cleaniness and everything was in a very nice contemporary design. Bed was excellent and so was air conditioning. Hotel location was good and my attic room was very quiet. Breakfast buffet was ok by Scandinavian standards, excellent by any other standards. However, there were no fresh vegetables available, only sautéed. Small minus for the lack of trouser press, but staff gave a steam iron instead.
Cleaness, being new and style None, maybe does not having a swimming pool
Everything was perfect, the room, service and staff. I wouldn't fault anything at all, and wouuld definitely return.
Hotel staff was excellent and very accommodating to our requests. The hotel is clean, modern, quiet, and has an above average restaurant. However, like the other reviews mentioned, you see few people in the hotel or restaurant. We were the only couple in the entire restaurant. I would recommend this hotel to others, especially if you are looking for a modern room in this old, historic city.
Marvellous interior decoration, spacious, quite room, central locatio;n.
The wifi connection was really slow in room 15. I was surprised I had to pay for newspapers or print a document
Excellent location, conveniently located but a quiet neighbourhood. The staff at the reception could be a bit cold some time.
Location, internet access Staff could have been more friendly
Great location. Super quiet and very close to the charles bridge Very friendly staff. Very nice rooms. Good breakfast My wife and I had a great stay over the week end.
I've stayed in many 5* hotels all over the world but this hotel is definitely my new favourite. Upon arrival my girlfriend and I were offered a free room upgrade and not only that we were asked to go and choose our room out of a choice of 3. I have never been given the opportunity to actually pick my room before in any hotel I have stayed in. This was my first time visiting Prague and the welcoming staff at this hotel definitely made this trip one to remember! The hotel itself is also in a perfect location with both the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle just literally minutes away from the hotel. I really couldn't recommend this hotel enough.
stylish and exceptional place to stay that really enhanced our stay in Prague. The Hotel is a real asset to the city ! I know that should I return to Prague- I will always stay there from now on ...... I appreciate that the Spa part of the hotel has only just started up but more info on the services offered would of been helpful.
design, afternoon tea, laptop in the room bed is not so comfortable as it looks like
Location was very good - close to centre but fairly quiet Headroom over bed in our loft room caused an accident.
Great location - close to sites but far enough away to be quiet. 5 Minutes from major bus stop. Great free breakfast includes made to order hot items. Free 5 pm tea time an extra bonus. We had interior room with no widown and the room was too hot - pay the extra bit to get a window!
Great location in quiet area just a few steps from Hrad and Karl's Bridge. Fantastic design, friendly atmosphere, 5 o'clock tea, first class breakfast. This will be our hotel for the next visits to Prague.
Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Our time in the spa was definitely worth it--only two at a time, felt so luxurious. The rooms were very comfortable. A lovely restaurant (inexpensive!) is just up the road. Wonderful service and staff. No hair conditioner was provided. Couldn't figure out the laptop, but we also didn't ask for help with it so it's our own fault really...
The hotel was in a perfect, safe location. The hotel itself was very retro and very trendy. The staff were very polite and attentive. There was nothing to dislike.
The Design Hotel Sax has an eclectic feel to it. I enjoyed all of the little idiosyncrasies incorporated in it design. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. I would definitley recommend the hotel to anyone.
Fabulous hotel in a great location with friendly staff. It was my husband's birthday and they gave us a bottle of wine as a gift on the day which was a really nice touch. It was a 10 minute walk to St Charles Bridge and also located close to the castle. There were air fresheners in all the communal areas - smelled nice but very strong and if you have asthma or allergies then this won't be comfortable.
Breakfast and afternoon tea were great, atmosphere in hotel was very welcoming and relaxed, beds very comfy Room wasnt perfectly clean when we arrived but it was fine
easy to get to with GPS,attentive staff, great breakfast omelet, great for viewig castle and monastery,(best view in Prague from monastery garden) free laptop in room liked it!
style, comfort and surroundings a bit dull breakfast
The hotel is extremely well located, at a 7min walk fron Prague's Castle. in a very quiet and beatiful area. The building is very elegant and the decor as well. Our room was hugue! And the breakfast was delicious and served in a incredible attic!!! Front desk service always attentive and nice, Daniel helped us a lot. Definitely a must hotel in Prague!!!
good price,Quiet location and clean and spacious room.
The ultra-quiet location in a lovely neighborhood. Near enough to the attractions to be able to go on foot but far enough so that we didn't feel we were in touristville. Our double room turned out to be two rooms, which made it very comfortable. The fact that the feel of Appia Residences is "homey" rather than "hotelly", which might not be appreciated by travellers who want a hotel with a lobby and bar and room service, but was perfect for our tastes. In general, we were perfectly satisfied. The only minor problem we had was the difficultly in the bathtub of changing the flow of water from tap to shower head. Also the rooms, while pleasant and comfortable, could use a touch of decoration on the walls.
Excellent location, friendly atmosphere
Particularly, the position of the room with a terrace and how quiet it was. The room was also nice and large. We would suggest that you put in a shower screen so that people are able to use the shower facilities without making the floor wet!
A quiet side street within 2 minutes of the main walk up to the Castle. felt almost Tuscan in feel. Breakfast room very atmospheric. Bedroom (Double) excellent; large, v-comfortable. None of the 6 hotels I have stayed in in Prague have had great pillows so the Apia beat them all. Czech breakfast buffets are not that exciting in terms of fresh fruit. Apia's was average.
The staff are friendly The pictures of the room were taken like 20 years ago and that's probably when it looked like this. It's old, falling apart and not comfortable. On more specific points: could hardly make the shower work, it also had no curtain; the floor is dirty to the point where it makes no use to clean it, needs replacing; TV - smallest screen possible so you can't really watch it except standing close; 10 euros for 24h internet, I've seen far cheaper hotels who did not try to make money on this; bed sheets are clean but also had to be replaced at least an year ago, the breakfast was quite poor as well.
I travel extensively and the Appia is one of my favorite hotels. I felt so comfortable, safe and well cared for by your friendly staff. In particular the large size of my room, the terrace and windows and doors with fresh air, the cleanliness, and the wonderful breakfast. Your staff is knowledgeable and genuinely friendly and well trained. I also love the quiet location. We traveled in Europe for a month and the Appia was our favorite hotel.
The tranquility of the hotel and helpful and friendly staff
Location is good, however parking is not. Only have a couple of spots out front (Not free) and not secured. Breakfast was a good typical European fare. Get there before 0900 if you want a place to sit! Hotel was clean for its age and staff spoke English were friendly.
Great location, good breakfast, nice clean room with character and fairly big for Europe. Reasonable price.
Big and comfortable rooms. Excellent location. No place for parking.
great location, friendly staff, breakfast small tv
Location, close the city centre. Old-style design and antique castle-type rooms. Staff is very nice. Visitors should previouly contact the staff on the room location. Several of them are at the noise street.
A very good hotel, very nice rooms, not the largest but what they lack in size they more then make up for in character. Much much nicer to stop inthen a bland "chain" hotel. Breakfast very good also.
I was able to get awqay from the main tourist areas for a quiet night. It was ideally situated between the old city and the castle. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing at all!
The rooms were large and richly decorated. Our suite was located in another building ( which apparently is a part of the Waldstein complex) but I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in the city center of Prague
The room size and design far exceeded our expectations. The breakfast buffet was quite nice as well. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Location was excellent, lots of character.
breakfast, internet, location,
The hotel was in a wonderful ancient street just below the castle. It was an interesting old building which had been tastefully reconstructed as the hotel. The staff were very helpful and very polite. Breakfast was good. There was nothing bad about the hotel but being on a steep street it would not be suitable for everyone.
The room, the facilitis such as free wifi in room no
I can't think of any negatives about the hotel. We had a wonderful large room with a small terrace and view of the castle. Walking distance to the castle and Old town. The breakfast was very good and the staff very helpfull. What a beautiful city. Parking was the only problem, I wouldn't recommend driving there.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Central location. Near to castle and within easy walking distance of Charles Bridge and Old Town Square.
Very nice hotel, staff is very efficient. Beautiful decoration, great facilities and really liked that buffet breakfast had some local products. Heating was a bit of a problem, we didin't now how to use the heater. The rooms should have real double beds instead of to singles put together or at leat have one big comforter instead of two small ones. Bigger pillows would also have been more comfortable.
Very helpful staff. Made every arrangment you needed.
The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The breakfast buffet had a lot of options. I had to leave at 5 a.m. and they made sure I had a light breakfast before leaving. The location is great; I walked everywhere. I assume since you book by the room that a single was not available. Travelling alone, I would have appreciated an option for a smaller room.
The Golden Wheel is ideally located in Prague's Mala Strana area, about half-way between Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge. The rooms are immaculate and extremely modern (renovated several years ago) which is a delightful contrast to the charming exterior of the centuries-old building. An excellent range of breakfast choices is included in the room rate. The front desk staff is superb: very knowledgeable, very friendly, eager to be helpful and available 24 hours a day. The hotel is boutique size (17 rooms) but offers a level of service better than most properties that are ten times its size. My group of four friends (all very experienced travelers) spent five days at The Golden Wheel and we all agreed it was one of the most enjoyable hotel experiences we had had anywhere in the world.
Fantasic location, within very easy reach (walking) of the castle, Mala Strana, Charles Bridge and Old Town Square, as well as numerous restaurants and bars. Excellent rate, as I booked in advance and got the special advance booking rate, so didn't pay full price. Large selection of food on offer for breakfast, with really friendly, helpful hotel staff. Room was spacious and modern and very clean. Loved it here and very happy to recommend. N/A
Nice big room. Hotel well located. The room was hot and the wondows could not stay open during the noght because of to much noise. Next time I will ask for a room not on the street side.
It was ideally situated for the purpose of general shopping & sightseeing. Yes the 1st room we were given was very dark so we changed to another room which was on the 3rd floor 45 steps no lift, it was comfortable, and very nice.
Great location, very friendly employees, great interior, nice bathroom Climatisation didn't work, window faced directly a wall with a very loud ventilation, not a single TV program worked, parking was expensive and 800 meters away from hotel
Nice location. Comfortable rooms.cheaper parking rate and availability than other hotels.
The view and location location and again location- one minute to the Carols Bridge and romantic part of Prague- Kampa. I really liked the way how they served tea- in a own teapot- really good idea and choice of teas. The carpet might have been cleaned more often, plus it might be a problem for a people with disabilities as there is no lift.
Excellent location. Nice breakfast included in the room rate. But overall the hotel is too expensive considering the quality of the services offered. Staff very useless and unfriendly. We were received by a very rude man, actually the night guard, who did not speak any English. He refused to give us a parking permit although we had a reservation and it was not for free. We had to leave the car on a parking reserved for local people risking to get a fine. Next day we obtained a permit for 14 euro/day. Staff was again useless when asked why the pugs in the room are not working. We had to discover ourselves that all the plugs are linked to the light switchers and when turning off the light you actually cut off the current. The so called luxury room is actually a 3 stars hotel room with cheap furniture and ugly decorations meant to give a classic look. The outcome is in no way a luxury room
The day staff was exceptionally helpful. The breakfast was varied, plentiful, and tasty. The climb up to our rooms on the 3rd floor! I realize that if we had reserved the higher priced room, we would have had the benefit of the elevator. However, we would be quite breathless by the time we reached our floor. Please put a chair on each landing for us "elders", who might need to take a rest.
To repair hitting and sanitation of bathroom in №308. desing, kind treatment
We enjoyed the location and the fabulous views of the Castle and cathedral and the very warm welcome. N A
1.View from room-window on 3th flor- Hradčany; 2.NO lift - burner of fat czech cuisine; 3.Breakfast - nice selection of tea 4. Location, location, location - close to all attractions 1.View from the room-window on 1st floor- wall 2.NO lift - luggage challenge on spiral stairs; 3.Breakfast - constant lack of available clean plates, no vegetables, close to 10a.m. food is replenished slowly or at all 4. Internet chargeable
We loved the charming rooms with leaded glass windows, a sitting room and large bathroom. Our view of the castle is best most beautiful view we have ever had from a hotel room. The u Pava was great. The breakfast was very nice too.
The view from the bedroom was amazing! Great location, within walking distance from city centre.
Unbeleivable hotel overlooking the castle. The room was superb and made for a great stay in Prague!
Very good location. Close to tram and metro stops. Also close (5 -10 minute walk) to main attractions. Relaxed atmosphere in the hotel with helpfuil and friendly staff.
We arrived early and they secured our luggage and offered advice on restaurants. The staff found us a secure place to park our car, there is parking out front but we saw broken glass. It was a quiet location, even with our room on the first floor, within 10-15 minute walk of the old city center. One bridge away from the Charles Bridge. The bed was comfortable, the shower was modern. Room warm, water got hot. Breakfast was great!
location, cleanliness, location, location! traffic noise (but double glazing helped)
Location, staff. breakfast buffet, Wifi
Beautiful rooms only top floor had airconditioning
The Location No a/c
Great location Bed was 2 singles pushed together, not a double or queen. This is a pretty poor experience for a couple.
The hotel was extremely conveniently located. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, rooms spotless and with good facilities. Breakfast was excellent.
The staff was friendly. The breakfast was great: included included had a variety of sausage meats, breads, yogurt and eggs and included in the price. The maid service is very attentive and though. The beers are great. The location very close to Charles The problem is the bar/restaurant is open until 1200 and close to a hostel therefore noise is a big problem if you want quiet. There is no air confitioning to the age of this lovely inn 1645. No English TV channels.
Location could not be beat. Not really
