The personal touch all staff displayed. Attention to detail and the quality of the food.
Excellent attention to detail, nothing was over looked, absolutely spotless, everywhere ! Fabulous restaurant, menus, and staff.Definitely will recommend. will be back! nothing at all
Very friendly staff and the hotel was an interesting place to stay. Epensive wine list and drinks at the bar. I would like for the Hotel to give the true cost of the stay. ie include the service charge in the cost. The general condition of the hotel was a little tired and in the need of refurbishment. The food didn't live up to the awards given. Well with exception of the breakfast, best eggs ever.
The hotel was a a high standard and the staff were exceptionally efficient, helpful and charming. Nothing
The location, the staff, the ambience. Lack of indoor facilities e.g. pool, spa. The quality of food and wine was good but perhaps expensive for what it was.
A fantastic service experience. Beautiful food and calm environment inside and out. Thank you!
excellent food, very frendly staff, location ideal for absolut relax. as above
Everything. The Hotel had lots of character.
Relaxed atmosphere, courtesy, food, location, gardens, efficient service.
We loved the old world feel of the place and loved the gardens. It was home from home.
The food was excellent and the Connemara surroundings were spectacular
My Husband and myself both consider this to be the best Hotel we have ever stayed in. We were looking for a small luxury hotel without crowds so that we could enjoy our wedding anniservary peacefully. This hotel fitted the bill perfectly. All of the staff obviously enjoy their job and this came across in their attitude to their guests. We will definetly be coming back.
I really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the excellent food. The room was very comfortable and of course the scenery is magnficent.
Very friendly welcome and attentive service throughout. Unique location with spectacular views. Would like to have stayed much longer.
Everything: fabulous location and views, beautiful adn spacious rooms, excellent food and wonderful staff
Very nice old world atmosphere. good fishing experience. very good food. I would prefer better potatoe dishes rather than chips or mash.
The lovely way in which the hotel was managed so that we felt welcome, comfortable and well cared for in every way.
Beautiful location, Beautiful house They weren't available on the phone around 20:00 on the first day when we needed some help with finding the location (the answer machine says that they answer only until 17:30) - it was very stressing
Tucked as it is in the stunning Connemara mountains, the hotel is in a near perfect location. Adding to this the warm and friendly welcome, the personal service and the superb food has meant this is one hotel I am looking forward to visiting again. A true gem.
staying at the lodge was a vwery relaxing enjoyable experience, the staff mad every effort to ensure our confort during our stay, would have no problem recommending it as a getaway venue.
the food was excellent Hotel was a little dated, if you have an 02 phone there is no signal and no public internet provision
Location, friendliness of staff, pace of life in Connemara.
Beautiful views from new rooms with balconies. Rooms are well equipped and comfortable. Comfortable large lounge with open fire and food was very good, both dinner and breakfast. Hotel looks a bit tacky at the front with cheap signs etc.. Reception very off-hand and not particularly welcoming. Price seemed quite high.
Location/room size/view from room Noise transmittance/tv in room had such a poor reception as to be un- watchable/ choice of fish meals having booked for the fish
Beautiful hotel, food lovely, however staff not able to cope with breakfast rush. Food delicious but do not be in a hurry. Price varys according to avability on the evening, guests booking in on the day get a rate of 50 euro per couple less than what I paid for because I had booked in advance, however I was given the same rate as I happened to arrive to pay as another couple were paying and had stayed for 1 night as we had.
Value for money. Good allround presentation. Friendly and oblidging staff.Good food and relaxed atmosphere As a family owned hotel it would be nice if members met guests in the diningroom. just a call to the tables. A nice and welcoming gesture. No hotel brochure avaible on checking out.
I liked the atmosphere espc the drawing/reading room. The bar area was a bit cramped for a large no of people.
Location Contraction site at the moment, old equipment, thin walls and little privacy
We enjoyed the view from the balcony. The room was a good size, comfortable and warm. Also really loved the Edwardian drawing room - very relaxing and beautiful room to sit and read in. There was no bin in the bedroom, only a small one in the bathroom. The amount of lights switches was quite confusing. We found the staff unfriendly, particularly the waitress who served us for dinner. We did not eat in the restaurant again after this experience, which was a shame as the food was good.
Food was excellent!! Best steak I ever had!!
The food, the surroundings - fab place to stay and eat
This is an excellent hotel where customers come first and the level of service is amazing and excellent This hotel is special no
The staff were very friendly and the services was great. Nothing was too much trouble.
The castle and garden. The breakfast
The suite was large and they did a great job promoting the castle ambiance. A bit expensive for the run down rooms.
A perfect place to relax, perfect service, great food and a magnificent view.
The entire experience was great.
Our stay at the Abbeyglen was wonderful, relaxing and just what we needed away from the hub bub of Dublin life and work. It was terrific. I think the large sofa in the lobby could do with being replaced. It was obviously extremely comfortable when it was put in first but you would nearly need a crane to get out of it now. I say this for all the right reasons as alot of older people seem to visit there also and getting of the the couch could prove very difficult for them.:)
friendly atmosphere, beautiful scenery and a genuine willingness from all staff to help make the stay as good as possible without being in your face either. dining prices
The room we stayed in was magnificent. The extras like champagne reception and afternoon tea.
The location More street signage to be posted on the main road. The Hotel itself is "as good as it gets"
Absolutely everything - this is a real gem. No.
Friendly welcome on arrival to the Hotel
Atmosphere and views Tea served by room service was stewed or the water was poor
Good location for getting away from it all. Food is excellent. Double room on the small side.
a fantastic establishment that caters for every need, the staff were very friendly and most helpful.
We had a beautiful room with gorgeous views. The location is idyllic, and was perfect for a totally relaxing autumn break. Loved absolutely everything.... and will definitley go back
The location and scenery were superb and provided a "get away from it all" experience. The old world charm of the hotel itself was also wonderful.
Food very good but expensive.Good wine list and good prices.Breakfast excellent.Lovey setting and great place for walks ,very peaceful. Furniture in public area very tired and in need of replacement. The classic room we got was very small and would only pass as a 3 star hotel room.Very disappointed with the room as we had heard great things about the hotel.
Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Rooms tastefully furnished and very comfortable. Spectacular views of the river from the dining room and our bedroom. Relaxing walks in the castle grounds. Food excellent both in the bar and dining room. Courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recommend the castle as a place to get away from it all. My husband and I had a wonderful break to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Its location, ideal to go cycling etc Its poor entertainment for night time, could not imagine staying during the winter months, no tv, no interent access no music? Also tried to over charge for bar drinks!!!!
The location is stunning. Architecture is nice and rooms are different from regular hotels. The loft room was nice but not very big. Spa facilities seemed good. Overpriced - accomodation and food. Not a good family hotel, no playground or outside leisure facilities which is surprising given that Delphi have a fantastic outdoor education centre nearby. No TV in room. Perfect for singles and couples who want the spa experience. We did get an excellent babysitter though, very friendly and great with our daughter. The meal was good but not fantastic. Restaurant staff were friendly and prompt. Deluxe double room wasn't very deluxe.
The scenery of the area is spectacular! A very large bath in our beautiful room (in our spa hotel) but not enough warm (let alone) hot water to fill it. Very disappointing and so basic a thing to get right. Very silly for a place where guests want to relax. Dont bother putting a bath into the room if you cant fill it!!!
Beautiful location with view of the mountains from all sides of the hotel, food was fabulous, lots of activities during the day and a very relaxing spa.
Everything! The Staff were so lovely and helpful. The room was beautiful, as were the views. The Spa was so relaxing. The whole experience was great
location, comfortable room and beds, lounge, breakfast No tea and coffee in rooms - for this price I would have expected this facility.
Convenient location, very nice furnishings and fixtures, warm and friendly staff, good advice about local attractions and directions
Quiet location, but within minutes to the town shops, bars and restaurants. Breakfast was delicious. Knowledgable staff regarding what to visit in the area. Would have loved black out blinds at the windows.
Very friendly, family run hotel. Good location within town and reasonable parking available. If you like olde worlde then this is perfect if not... Tea/cofee only available in main lounge, would like facilities in own room. tv was very small (I know not in hotel to watch tv, but nice to have the comfortable option).
The pancakes are a must. The downstairs common room was conducive to socializing with other guests. The location was perfect for exploring town on foot and as a base to explore other towns. Owners were very pleasant and accommodating. Can walk on sidewalks to pubs within 2 mins. The rooms/bathrooms are updated, they obviously put money back into their home, it shows. I would definitely stay here again! N/A
easy parking...walking distaance to main part of town no
The service we got was fantastic. Lots of help and concern when we had money issues with a bank in the US. Really great advice about what to see in the area. Very low key and easy place to stay but they were always available to help if needed. Lovely breakfast choices. Clifden is a great base for exploring Connemara. Lots of noise between rooms especially with the plumbing.
The rooms were very clean and spacious. The beds were very comfortable and the the food was good and the service was exellent.
The location was excellent - a short stroll from the main streets but far enough away from the noise of the busy pubs and restaurants to get a good nights sleep. Good size rooms, clean and bright, great choice of breakfast in the morning, and a warm and very helpful host....... No, I had a good visit here. I would recommend it to my mother-in-law..... and that says a lot.......!!!
Nice location - welcoming staff - good breakfast - low key and friendly No bad points
we had alovely stay at the hotel very relaxed and the food was fantastic would definitily go back with friends i didn't like how you had to pay a deposit on towels when going swimming
I liked the relaxed athmosphere and all the lovely little shops surrounding the hotel, also nice bars. The only thing i did'nt like were the sausages at breakfast, unedible, and the eggs were cold, had eaten breakfast when we were asked for Tea & Toast. Was not impressed with T.V channels poor quality and poor choice.
the staff were very friendly and helpfull
Comfort, service, facilities and location were all very good. A very relaxing base in a beautiful part of Ireland with much to do within a short distance of the hotel.
Relatively nice room. The staff member on reception was quite indifferent to us on arrival. We arrived to be told a function would be on that evening. What we didn't expect was it to be a fashion show with party and live band that went until 1:00am in the morning. Although it may have been for a good cause, we were unable to sleep until 1:30am. We should have been placed higher up. The hallways and lift area were used as a "women's" changing room - as a guest (male or otherwise) it was unacceptable to have to "intrude" into that area to reach your room. Internet was not free and cost 9.95 euro! Although the water was fine to drink, it was very yellow and tasted quite bad, no complimentary water was provided. Have had better value and at guesthouses and hostels.
was okay, out of town and more expensive than the numerous b and b's in town (only 20 euros for those). would not go back to this next time.
Friendly, helpful staff. Very comfortable beds.Ideally situated in beautiful countryside. would have liked more vegetarian choices on menu at Station Pub.
Relaxed atmostphere and friendly atmostphere. The food at the Signal Pub was adequate and not good value. One small piece of beef fillet as a main course!!
good food, excellent service, relaxing atmosphere. Dissapointed with the room, grubby bed linen, torn curtains, dirty windows.
The atmosphere of the hunting lodge, location right on the Atlantic and great food.
Dog friendly. Excellent breakfast. Evening meal excellent vlue for money. Facilities are very good. Lovely views, location and atmosphere.
Total relaxation Single bed was squeekey
Very welcoming, helpful staff. Most comfortable rooms and public areas. A stunning, peaceful, relaxing setting. None.
Very friendly staff. Excellent food - evening dinner is top class. The setting of the hotel is stunning and the walks in the grounds and nearby are excellent It may be just the time of year (end May) but there are a lot of biting flies in the vicinity
the athmosphere the relaxsation and the hotel food the interior decor could do with some redecorating
The Hotel is in a nice location, the staff are friendly and the hotel has a warm friendly feeling.I had two guests to dinner. The food was excellent My room was far from clean, dust over bed the carpet is tired and stained the bathroom has seen better days. No newspapers available at reception.
The food was excellent, the views around the hotel are great. It would appear that the place is improving each time we go there
Same luxury as it was 36 years ago with obvious upgrades of entire facility. Accommodations are nice and the food is just wonderful. Staff is so accommodating. We loved it and wouldn't miss it when we get to Ireland.
kind staff ,very restful
Since I was only sleeping at the hotel, I didn't have an opportunity to try their breakfasts or use the bar. However, generally the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the one dinner I had was of good quality. Its carpets - which were old and too "busy" for my taste; also, the fact that there were no lifts and one had to carry luggage up stairs. I also was surprised that despite being July, there was no Resident's Lounge facility.
We Liked The staff and the comfort of the hotel. The beds were so comfy Im couldmhave stayed all day
Marconi Restaurant was very good.
It was a nice small Hotel and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. It was not possible to get food during the night - we were starving and would have loved a sandwich nothing fancy just a plain simple sandwich!!!. Also we asked the night porter to ring a taxi for a friend and they wouldn't and they also would not give us any taxi numbers they were very unhelpful.
Location Bit old
Proximity to local bars and restaurants and cosy atmosphere. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment, very greasy cold fried eggs, cold coffee and generally cold.
The bed was infested with bed bugs and I came away with bites all over my lower legs. As well at breakfast there was a hair in my food. They have a lot of staff but they should look into the cleanliness of the hote.
foyles hotel is a great base for the wonderful scenery of connemara
Reasonable room price Waitress insisted in pouring coffee while guests were having juice/cereal.It was then cold when it was needed - with toast/bbreakfast
I found the hotel to be clean and comfortable with a pleasant staff.
We were made to feel welcome. Love to details. Great, freshly cooked breakfast in several variations.
Excellent location and very friendly atmosphere. Breakfasts were lovely. Whilst there was coffee available in the lounge, I always prefer the option of having coffee/tea in room.
Excellent Guest House. Really comfortable mattress on bed. Very good breakfast.
The breakfast was excellent and buttermilk was also on the buffet. The pancakes were delicious.
Very convenient to walk into Clifden, nice view from front and dining area. computer/internet a little difficult to use.
The staff were very courties, and the hostess was very friendly and answered all of our needs NO
very friendly and helpful, would stay again! best breakfast ever!!
We were made to feel welcome and every effort was made to ensure we were comfortable.
Welll equiped B and B with all we could need. Excellent breakfast.
This is a b&b and the personal service was excellent, very welcoming None
