4.6 Okay
Pros: Great location
Cons: A lot of noise during the night, poor facilities, flooded water sink, and very unfriendly staff. Do not book your night there. I have been traveling from work everywhere and never had such a bad experience from a hotel and it’s staff
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room, the location, breakfast: it’s in my system.
Cons: The absolute inflexibility to allow me to cancel 1 night, due to unforeseen business travel. Being a regular guest one would expect a more forthcoming approach.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great and the room was lovely and cozy. We got exactly what we expected and it was perfect for our brief stay in Groningen. We'd definitely stay there again.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Clever combination of modern and traditional comforts. Perfect location to walk about the old city centre but also only 10 mins from the main station.
Cons: Light switches drove me crazy and even the house manager was having travel operating then.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really clean and welcoming hotel. The staff was friendly and helped us with booking dinner reservations. The room was large and unique.
Cons: Through no fault of the hotel, the neighbors were a bit noisy playing music late at night. Nothing we couldn't sleep through thou. And they were kind enough to provide ear plugs (which we didn't need).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very nice and helpful. The property is on a prominent location, in the center of the city, next to a canal, and the room was still really quiet. The interior design is awesome!

Pros: Breakfast was terrific, rooms big, fantastic beds, big walk in shower, employees very helpful and in great spirit. Did everything you asked for with a smile. All in all a great super modern Van der Valk hotel.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The position is perfect when arriving by car. The hotel is in proximity of a park-and-ride terminal, so parking is not an issue compared to hotels in the center. There is an excellent bus service to get to Groningen downtown anyway. My room on the sixth floor was fabulous, very clean, spacious, providing a cozy environment with terrace, bathroom, WC, etc. Breakfast choice was fabulous and good quality. Not the cheapest choice but a great stay.
Cons: Nothing to complain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: great hotel, brand new; received several prices for best hotel 2019 in The Netherlands and this was very obvious. When entering the room we thought we were in the wrong room; it looked like a suite!!! Very spacious room whit a big bath in the bathroom and a separate walk in shower you could roll a wheelchair in!! the toilet is in a separate room :) Lovely breakfast!! great staff!
Cons: The parking is just 30 meters away on the other side of the roundabout, this means only taxi's can park in front of the hotel which is very good, sadly there was a German car parked on the roundabout blocking the entrance for everybody!! nothing was done about this!!! Whilst having breakfast there were people with dogs in the breakfast area, who were taking their dogs in the buffet area to get coffee!! the breakfast room was too small as a big part was reserved and closed off, people where lining up with their plates standing waiting for a free table when there are people by them selves with a dog drinking coffee occupying a table for four!!! i found this disgraceful !!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really nice breakfast and good comfortable rooms.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Dont used
Cons: Nothing

Cons: Arrived @midnight difficult
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed and the room were beautiful. I particularly loved the design and art & info presentation with a fun but chill vibe and the bed was huge and very comfortable! Also, that duck in the shower! The reception staff were also fantastic.
Cons: We ate at the hotel and found the waiting staff to be a bit chaotic and slow and we observed many other guests struggle to be served in a timely manner as well. We later sat at the bar and the bartender was good but training is obviously not provided for people asking for things. The student/resident area was a bit chaotic, but this didn't bother us much.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect. Parking was easy.
Cons: The set up was strange, and confusing to find your way around. You can hear doors slamming all morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The overall feel of the hotel was great

9
8.5 Excellent (2,431 reviews)

No question staying in City Hotel Groningen will make you happy. At least, not if you’re into modern, slightly arty interior, comfort and a location close to the centre. Cruise through the city on a bike that we can arrange for you or go shopping in the coolest streets of the city. In the cosy hotel bar or terrace in front of the hotel you can fully recharge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location, right in the middle of the lilies part of the city with lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. The hotel was streamlined to provide everything a traveler could want, especially for very short stay without any hassle. The beds were super comfy.
Cons: The only criticism I have is that the windows did not keep the sound out from the street.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The service was good, nice furniture, very good bed, and the room was very quiet for a hotel that lays in the middle of the city and next to the street. :)
Cons: The bathroom was a little smelly

Pros: Superb location. Everything is just nearby. We would prefer to stay here again next time. Kept on telling my husband that we made the right choice choosing City Hotel. All the staff are friendly and accommodating. You can also already arrange with them parking slot for your car. Although it costs additional fee, but for your own convenience it’s worth it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was so conveniently situated for the town
B&B De Oude Nadorst - Groningen - Building
10
8.5 Excellent (266 reviews)
Overview Reviews
B&B De Oude Nadorst lies just outside of the lively city of Groningen, set in a traditional farmhouse building overlooking the scenic countryside. It offers both a spacious suite as a unique caravan accommodation. The shower facilities are shared when the suite and caravan are both booked, while there is an en suite private toilet available in each unit. Every morning, an extensive breakfast is served in the room. There are also packed lunches available to take away and dinner is available upon request. In front of the farmhouse, there is a large garden where you can lay down in the grass and enjoy the quaint setting of De Oude Nadorst. The nearby area is also ideal for long hiking and cycling trips. The Groningen city centre is just 4 km by bike or car. The Zernike University complex is 3 km away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a great place to stay: Only a 20 min bike ride into Groningen and, yet, there is a great farm atmosphere. The owner was very welcoming and even offered us a ride into town to get rental bikes. Speaking of perfect service: we were served a wholesome breakfast directly to the caravan in which we stayed. The icing on the cake were the several farm animals which even could be fed (lambs, pigs, horses, alpacas, and many more). I would recommend De Oude Nadorst to anyone who likes a good farm stay with all the benefits of the city nearby.
Cons: Rental bikes on site would be much appreciated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kind staff, great breekfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is amazing. Quiet with the farm animals around. I lived in the caravan so I had to go to the actual house in order to use toilet and shower.
Cons: Take into consideration that property is not located in the city so you have to use bicycle bus or taxi.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Charming and cosy stay
Cons: The toilet and shower were in the house, so in that way it was like camping. It wasn’t however a big issue for us

Pros: Good location, very clean, friendly staff, warm bedroom and lovely breakfast

Pros: Decorations are nice. Breakfast was really good.
Cons: Fire alarm went off at night, but there was no fire and we were never told what was wrong. Again in the early morning for a short time.
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel had a good atmosphere and had a very good decoration.
Cons: The staff were very busy and didn't look very friendly
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is well located - an easy walk to shops and restaurants - and despite this the location is quiet. The hotel itself is comfortable with a small lounge area with sofas and a fire. Breakfast offers a good choice of food and the quality and presentation is good.
Cons: The bed was very hard and neither of us felt we had slept well and, for this reason we would have second thoughts about returning which is a pity as everything else is good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and really nice staff. Lovely lounge to relax in

Pros: Nice staff, very good breakfast.
Cons: My daughter had a room at ground floor. It was an horibble smell în that room.
Hotel Het Wapen van Drenthe - Roden - Building
14
8.3 Excellent (457 reviews)
Overview Reviews
This is a hotel with a rich history, offering modern comfort and personal care, with tourist and commercial requirements made available to you. It benefits from free Wi-Fi. The northern part of the Province of Drenthe has everything that both the tourist and the business guest could want. Enjoying excellent accessibility, it has a spectacular wooded environment with many tourist amenities, and the provincial capitals of Groningen and Assen are within easy reach.
6.7 Good
Pros: Good location. Friendly staff.
Cons: Live music night meant the room was very loud and suffered from bass vibration. It's not clear when you book, nor is there any notification that this could be the case. Music stopped around 11, so not the end of the world. Then restarted 30mins later, which was rather disappointing. The band weren't that good so not worth staying up for if you'd wanted to get to bed at a reasonable time. It's not just the noise, the bass vibrations meant we had to take things off shelves and the walls to stop rattling and shaking from the bass below. Other minor note that the very steep staircase could also be an issue for some.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice of meats, cheeses, egg, breads, fruit, yogurts & juices etc. The communal areas are attractively furnished with indoor and outdoor seating areas. Staff were really helpful.
Cons: The stairs to the bedrooms are very steep. My father managed it but some older people would struggle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a find, we didn’t know where we were going and just booked this hotel by chance after driving from the UK. The kitchen was closed as we arrived later than expected but the chef made us four delicious meals. The staff were lovely, hotel very clean and rooms were next to each other as requested plus we even had a balcony as an added bonus. I had to make one tiny observation the beds were a little soft but overall 10/10 and 100% recommended to all. Plus the town was lovely and quaint, I’d love to visit again and would stay in the same hotel for sure.
7.5 Good
Cons: The personel was super. Breafast was fine, but dinner was traditional cuisine and very poor.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, comfy rooms and very helpful staff. Great that we could take our dogs with is in the the room and also in the bar.
Cons: The noise outside our window on saturday night. Youngsters tearing up and down the street on bikes and cars and fireworks till 4 in the morning. No sleep and we had an early start.
7.5 Good
Pros: A very basic and affordable room above a charming restaurant/cafe. The staff were friendly and it is very well located in the centre of town.
Cons: There was not much that a vegan could eat at the breakfast buffet, so it was not worth the extra €9.50.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice restaurant cosy atmosphere. One of the rooms was recently refurbished and was nice
Cons: One of the rooms was in need of updating. There’s a heating system that I suspect works on movement sensor so although I put the heating on it switched off when I was in bed for a while. The room was poorly insulated and it got cold very quickly.

Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
7.1 Good
Pros: The design and shared spaces are nice to hangout. The gym is good and the bath is amazing!
Cons: The location is not good compare to the city center. The staff weren't always helpful and room cards are not working often.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, comfy rooms and beds, good breakfst.
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was fine with fresh food. The rooms are clean and modern.
Cons: Dinner menu is kind of stale and very simple. The rooms are cold to start and warm up but just a little.
6.0 Good
Pros: The staff was helpful, the room was spacious and the atmosphere was modern.
Cons: The food at the restaurant was sub-par. When comments were made to the staff about this their answers were not satisfactory "Oh" as opposed to "I'll tell the kitchen". The room was cold and had a loft which was too warm. This was Valentine's Day and the room (a suite) had the smoker's balcony RIGHT in front of the windows - not very romantic - to wake up to smokers in front of your window. And not for the extra price of a suite. A disappointing stay.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I was awarded Guest of the Day and got an upgrade to a suite, and a free drink at the bar. Room was very spacious, with a comfortable bathroom. Common areas are very comfortable and cozy, serving good food.
Cons: Location is away from city centre. For me this was no issue, since I was travelling for business.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great breakfast opportunities, it was delicious. The apartment was really nice, especially for what we paid for it.
Cons: We specifically booked this hotel room because it specified a 2-person bed instead of 2 single person beds, however we found that there were two single person beds anyways.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: There are bed bugs in the bedroom, who bites me a lot. On complain they upgrade my room. But the bed bugs should be fix. As per the manager, they contact the company to fix the issue
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, modern, no noise, easy to find (I took an OV fiets from the station), nice restaurant, big bathroom, tea and coffee in the room. I stayed one night and it's good value for money.
Cons: Everything was fine, just some small oddities, but nothing to keep me from staying there again (nowhere to plug in coffee machine in the room so you have to get a little creative, the bed is a boxspring with a thin top layer mattress, instead of a sturdy thick hotel mattress but it was still comfortable, check-in is next to the bar and kitchen making it seem they're trying to do both at the same time, causing it to maybe be a bit slow).
Boutique Hotel De Doelen - Groningen - Building

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Boutique Hotel De Doelen, you'll be centrally located in Groningen, steps from Grote Markt and 12 minutes by foot from Groninger Museum. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location: couldn't be better Facilities: nice lounge, free tea, coffee Hotel: very charming and special Breakfast: very good
Cons: Staff at reception: we signalled before leaving for dinner that the plugging in the bathroom was clogged. When we returned late in the evening nothing had been done about this. Excuses next day were offered reluctantly and not very sincerely. We slept badly because the room was cold and we didn't have enough blankets, the beds were not very good. The floor in the bathroom was not very clean.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, lovely fireplace in the lounge and free warm drinks!
Cons: The room was a bit filthy, the toilet was dirty and in general the whole hotel was not so clean, such a pity, because otherwise it would have been really nice!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Staff were friendly albeit unobservant. The second night our new room was much h better and much quieter. The hotel is very central and close to everything.
Cons: The terrible noise. On checking in I was allocated a below standard room. The room was dusty and not very clean. I was woken at 12:30am by a consistent noise from the nightclub next door. This continued until 4am! Consequently I over slept and was late for our appointment at the university so it was not a good day. The next morning I asked to be moved and was immediately assisted and was told this was no problem. After already being in a rush to get to the university we had to pack our bags and bring them to reception. My question is why didn't they just put us into this room in the first place?? The hotel wasn't booked! I'm no spring chicken and yet was allocated a room that I'm positive reception knew was going to be extremely noisy. Why???
10.0 Excellent
Pros: central location, nice building, cosy atmosphere, chimney with a warm fire, friendly staff

10.0 Excellent
Pros: First and most importantly, it's a dog friendly hotel and ours settled in within minutes. We liked everything about the hotel, easy to find, with large private parking and a quick check in. Our room was on the first floor with its own terrace, and very comfortable. Super bathroom with bath and shower, nice hot water, towels and toiletries. Breakfast was 1st class and very good coffee.
Cons: Nothing, its a lovely place.
