The location couldn't be more convenient, just steps away from the Embarcadero BART station, and very close to everything off of Market and the Embarcadero. The hotel itself is large and strangely appointed in some ways in the lobby (huge sculptures, dated music, pods of work or social spaces set out in the midst of an overwhelming visual scale reminiscent of Soviet architecture). That said, the staff was so welcoming and pleasant, and the rooms are clean, new, and quite comfortable. I did not try room service, but everything I experienced was worth the very affordable rate. I'll be back.
Beautifully located in downtown on Embarcadero. Access to many things. Pricey but nothing is free right?
The Staff! The Food Selection and quality was Very Bad, for a hotel that size and location. The $60.00 Plus a Night to valet a Car Is Crazy,
Very comfortable bed, great location, friendly staff.
The hotel was beautiful and it was clean
Breakfast The receptionist lied to me about the parking fee Later the hotel charge me 75 USD for overnight parking
Downtown you're close to everything and the hotel view was amazing. You're still downtown, so you walk out and it's a lot of homeless and the streets smell of urine, bad. The hotel staff is in no hurry for anything. Toom service took 1.5-2 hours and we even had a package delivered and they never bothered to bring it up. After three hours we told them forget it we'll get it ourselves. Cleaning staff is super nice. They were doing construction there so don't bother trying to nap during the day, because they were jack hammering the lobby. For the money I think there's better.
Location is great, large facility for meetings Lack of aesthetics, just tired and drab. Parking is just ok
The hotel atrium remains spectacular. Great location in financial district, overlooking the bay, a walking distance from Fisherman's Wharf, but be aware that many restaurants and coffee shops in the immediate vicinity of the hotel are closed on Sunday. Bathrooms are small and outdated. Overnight parking is $34.00.
Excellent location with great facilities in this hotel. It's really easy to travel to other famous sightseeings and restaurants in this area are really good. A little bit noise whether stay in high floor or in low floor, and the bathroom is too small for a 4 star hotel.
The staff was awesome and we used the regency club for the first time. Glad we upgraded for it because we loved it! Overall a great stay! For the price that you pay, the gym should should have a more equipment.
We arrive 2 hours before check-in time and we got the room without any problem.
LOCATION, very nice room, near from the port 1, access to the buses stop, near form China Town
The location and the comfort of the beds were great. There were a few things that could be improved upon: 1. There were union protesters outside of the hotel before 7 AM each day with megaphones, and each day, it took over an hour for the police to come by to put a stop to the noise-making. The hotel could at the very least have provided earplugs. 2. The rooms, while clean, look a bit dated and dark. 3. There were not enough reception staff to handle the flow of guests, leading to long wait times.
All of the hotel itself. The parking situation. Very very expensive $$$
We came from the Embarcadero BART/Muni Station on Market Street which was a very comfortable walk. Arrived about an hour before check-in time and received a room right away. Front desk was backed with a line for awhile. Had a high floor on first stay and liked it much better than the lower floor this time. Room and features are good. Large screen TV nice! Restaurant on the third floor is very good. Arthur is a great waiter; ask him where is from. BATH ROOM DOOR IS A JOKE!. It is very heavy and slides open like an old barn door. It is impossible to use the facilities in the middle of the night without making noise that awakens spouse. Bed was firm but comfortable. Would prefer a top sheet instead of just the covered comforter. Towels were nothing to shout about.
Location Downtown Hotel parking Incredible expensive
The beds were extremely comfortable and the location was nice. On November 20th, my girlfriend and I decided to take a weekend trip to San Francisco and stayed at Le Meridien. Upon arrival, the parking situation threw us for a loop as we drove into their structure that apparently is no longer in service. Frustrating, but we eventually figured it out. The hotel itself was nice and the first night sleep was great! Nice views of the all buildings, super comfy bed and overall very spacious. The second night however...very different story. We came back to our room(2103) around midnight from a great night out. We could hear the people next to us in the Sydney Cove Suite(2104) who had a few guests over. They were a little noisy but it didn't bother us at the time. Around 230AM, I was woken up to "extra curricular activities"....(Wink wink cough cough). Okay...just a couple enjoying their night together like any other couple would...we all do it, no big deal. But this wasn't normal (we very quickly realized there were more than 2 people still in that room...) and it happened again and again and again...and again.Precisely that many times until 530AM!! Not only were they blasting their music still, but the walls were so thin, we could hear EVERYTHING. Very disturbing and very disgusting. After the first hour and a half trying to block out the sounds (which was impossible) we called the front desk who initially was less than helpful. The first call we asked to have someone come up to ask them to please be quiet. No one ever came. We called back again about 20 minutes later and asked if anyone was coming. The man at the front desk said they had sent security who heard nothing from any room, which we did not believe. Our neighbors hadn't stopped since the first call downstairs and was still happening WHILE we were on the phone during the 2nd call! At that point we were very direct about what was going on/what we were hearing in that room and they immediately called the guests. Finally around 530--sweet silence. We notified the woman at the front desk when checking out who was very apologetic about the situation. It really is a shame that we had such a disturbing second night. The hotel really is nice and very comfortable hence the 3 "stars", but the walls make it seem like you are in the same room with your neighbors. I'm not sure that we would come back after the night we had.
Very friendly staff, fast check-in, excellent, safe and central location, beautiful design, stylish spacious rooms, beautiful views. Close to bart, cable car, malls and landmarks. And free illy coffee to top it off.
Location The bed and pillows. Not comfortable at all. Parking was too expensive. Although they did offer a garage to park for $30/day which I should have done.
It was disappointing not to be provided free internet.
Upgraded to a suite for free. All staff very friendly and helpful
Nice room at a fair price Tried to lower the room temperature, but the thermostat didn't work. Also, very noisy group in front of the hotel outside my window late into the night. I should have complained but didn't. It was hard to sleep.
Proximity. Computers in the lobby. No bathtub.
excellent value for the money, room was comfortable and great location. Staff was very nice and aim to please.
Staff was friendly and very helpful. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Although we were in front of hotel, street noise was minimal. Nice flat screen TV and good in-room coffee. Room was very small.
Rooms were extremely small
The friendliness of the staff, the location of the hotel. Just a bit noisy one night, room was rather crowded against the radiator.
Bed is good. Nothing
I liked the amenities like the free bottles of water, the roof terrace, the computers with free internet downstairs, the friendliness of the staff
Great location for a "staycation." We live in SF, and spent the night downtown. First dinner, then movie (at Embarcadero Cinema), then a stroll to the Ferry Building. All this within about three blocks. When we arrived, we were given a free upgrade to a slightly larger room (maybe it was a slow Friday night, but they didn't have to have done this). The room and bed were comfortable, although the TV was a bit on the small size (not tiny, just not huge). The room had plenty of room for the two of us, and the queen bed fit our two larger frames nicely. The "Living Room" on the lobby level was quite comfortable, with free espresso drinks and computers available. Free wifi throughout the hotel. We didn't try the restaurant, but there is a Starbucks on the corner (two doors down) that opens quite early, so we had a nice breakfast and coffee there. We enjoyed our stay, and thought the price was great for a downtown SF hotel room. Our only complaint was that the window was dirty. It looked like some cleaning had gone on above us, and the soap/water had streaked our window.
I liked the automated quick check-in process. The room key must also be swiped in the elevator for extra security. The hotel has wired and wireless internet access, flat panel tv/monitor, refrigerator and microwave. At 3:00 a.m. on the first night of my stay, the fire alarm sounded and the entire hotel was forced to evacuate. It was caused by one hotel guest who burnt some bacon in the microwave. I also would have liked a bathtub instead of just a shower.
Chilled, filtered water in reusable bottles. Rooms were comfortable and quiet. Staff were helpful, but could be a bit friendlier.
Clean rooms Bed was too small and rooms were tiny
Good location. Small. Bathrooms are community. Have to pay everything cash.
Room was very tiny. Too expensive for sharing bathroom room. No heat control in room. Rooms are very old. Doesn't look like pictures at all.
I was able to book the room for the day I needed it, which was unlikely given that I was looking to stay in SanFran at the last minute. I wouldn't stay here again if I got a free voucher. When booking, because I booked through a third party (booking.com), the hotel staff seemed to have problems confirming the reservation. Actually checking in took close to thirty minutes, which is excessive. The room ran around $170.00 for a single night stay when no events were going on in the city (on a Wednesday night, nonetheless) - which is a bit ridiculous, even for last minute reservations. The hotel had a 3 star rating on Google. I experienced 1 star service - from checking in, where several of my questions were outright ignored, to checking out - which required no identity verification at all. My group of friends and I arrived at the hotel around 3 AM (after having checked in around 9 PM and exploring the city a bit). First, the doors were locked and we had to knock on the glass to get the attention of the security guard. He would not open the door unless we showed him BOTH our state ID cards AND our room key. He explained to us that when we checked in, they only took my girlfriend and my ID, so only we were allowed to enter the hotel. This posed a problem as our friends were planning on staying in our room for several more hours. I asked if I could speak to the manager, after they refused our friends entry. The manager, in no uncertain tone of voice, told me that it was hotel policy and that the security guard had explained everything relevant already. In this particular event, my friends had had several drinks and were incapable of driving, so I was hoping they could sober up for a few hours in my room. I explained this and that they had nowhere else to go for the night to sober up, and the manager said she didn't care. I asked if I could pay a fee to allow visitors and was denied. I asked if I could book another room for them, because other than sleeping in their car (in downtown San Francisco as inebriated out of towners) they had nowhere to go. The manager said roughly the following: "There are no visitors past 10 PM period. This hotel is closed for the night, so I will not book anymore rooms for you. We open at 6 AM, and if you return then, I might attempt to book another room for you at full cost if we have any available, which I find unlikely." Ultimately, my friends and I wondered around the city for 3 or so hours until the hotel "opened" at 6 AM, at which point we all walked up to my room to rest. I was also told there was a complimentary breakfast, which was not laid out from that point until I checked out at 11:30 AM. When we got to the room, there was no air conditioning and the rooms were at a balmy / humid 90 degrees and up. We had to rely on an open window that the four of us huddled around for fresh air. The room had a single lamp, a 12 inch or so TV, two beds, and a sink. The toilet and shower (if that's what they can be called) existed on a shared basis - one each per floor.
Nothing at all. Over charge on my card, plus they continued to charge my card after I left. I was told i would get a refund because I checked out one day early. That didn't happen. And my car got broken into in there parking garage. Never again will I stay there.
The rooms were small, but clean and comfortable. Overall, it's a great place to stay, especially for a solo traveller looking for a bargain. You also can't beat the location - City Lights bookstore is just a few blocks away and less than a mile walk to Fisherman's Wharf. If you're hungry you can hop on over to the famous Stinky Rose for some garlicy grub. The bubble tea shop nearby is also amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are shared so sometimes you have to hunt around on your floor for one that isn't occupied and, depending on the level of courtesy of the other people staying there, the bathrooms can get a tad messy.
I had a great experience staying here. Sure, it's not a Ritz Carlton or anything, but if you're looking for a simple, cheap place to stay while enjoying the city, this is it. Room was clean and I had a microwave and fridge for my food (huge plus if you're trying to save money). Wifi was surprisingly fast (not what I expected). Lastly, location is excellent. You're not far from Bart; several bus routes are within a 5 min walk; and there are plenty of attractions nearby.
The place is advertised as a hotel but it is actally a hostel with communal bathrooms and showers.
The unit had a cot for a bed. The unit did not have a bathroom, shared bathroom on the floor and shared shower on the floor. Spent $20 more that day on a major chain hotel, this place should have been cheaper!
Cheaper than others Essentially everything else
Microwave and mini fridge in room. Tiny rooms, shared bathrooms, rude staff, NO parking, mosquitos everywhere and ready to bite the hell out of you.. Beware!
The room is small but love the view and the staff is friendly. Share bathroom with other visitors and there no hotel packing.
nothing really. the only this is that is was close to bars/restaurants. it smell like someone was smoking the whole time. people live there! and you dont even have ur own bathroom!
It was right downtown in a great location we could walk to a bunch of shops and restaurants around.
Was a convenient last minute booking. Shared bathrooms, smelly hallways, large roach in bathroom.
Location! location! Couldn't ask for a better spot. Right on the corner of Columbus and Broadway. You can see right down China town! Excellent food in the area and lots of history too! It is right above a strip club, but it is the first nude club ever in the US! Your also only 20mins from fisherman's wharf. Its right in the heart of the jazz area as sell as little Italy so lots of great Italian food. The Stinking Rose restaurant is right across the street and serves every thing garlic flavored. Even ice cream! Over all for the price, great place to stay. I will be back. Shared bathrooms.... more like a hostel then a hotel. Really not that bad though. They are cleaned on a daily.
I liked a peaceful atmosphere. No one bothered me during my staying. Everything was easy to do regarding checking in and out. Ohhh, for this amount of money , I think everything was great.
Cheap Horrible hotel, dirty, noisy, the sheets and all the room smelled bad. I don't recommend it.
location, staff supportivness it's a hostel rather than hotel, wifi didn't work
The hotel was among the cheapest we found in that area, which is in a great location ( SF hotels are very expansive ), so we didn't come with too high expectations. The entrace to the hotel has high stairs so it's hard to get in with luggage. The room was clean but didn't feel completly clean. The room didn't had an AC and it got really hot (we stayed during the "Summer" of SF) but we asked, and received, a fan. The staff were nice and as we were just looked for a place to sleep and rest ,with hot shower, we were satisfied with the result. It is important to notice that the area has a lot of night clubs. Our room was at the back and on the last floor so it didn't bother us, but maybe other rooms can get more noisee. The bed spring were a bit too noticeable
We did not like our stay at the hotel at all. The owner was understanding that it was an inappropriate place to be for my family and me. There is almost absolutely no real parking near the hotel. The hotel is surrounded by topless/sex clubs and the area seemed very rough at night. There are lots of stairs to climb.
SF weather was warm. No A/C or fan in room. Was told by staff to buy my own electrical fan for room comfort.
location was ok, loud, dirty, my credit card info was compromised , not sure how... and I am NOT going to ever stay there again!
Npthing Disgusting and overprice. No extra blanquet no nothing
