Usual Premier Inn facilities, good breakfast and politeness of staff.
No shampoo in bathroom, towel rail does not work, service in restaurant is very slow
Facilities good, bright, clean, warm, friendly.
everything fine - as always in Basildon the same as ever ;-)
Only disappointment was booking in it took too long
The staff were very unhelpful because it was only on arrival that we were advised we had to pay for our stay in advance. Unlike most hotels that let you pay at the end of your stay. The hotel e-mailed me on the day that I arrived in England, and as I was travelling never got round to receiving the notification. Not impressed with having to find cash to pay as we were not financially prepared to pay upfront.
Everything is as I would expect. Stated while there to the manager about placing a modesty board on the split level dining as while seated on the lower area , it was possible to see the other female diners under garments which made me feel very uncomfortable .
Staff at the Beefeater restaurant made a great effort but the table tops were 'sticky' and the cutlery stained. Bed could have been firmer
the best budget hotel in Basildon
Reception very helpful and informative on our arrival. All staff were cheerful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. Staff at breakfast particularly good.
The staff were freindly and helpful with the exception of the room maid who let herself into the room in the morning without knocking and without apologising! Wasn't impressed - would not stay again. Will stick to Premier Inn in future.
The staff were attentive and friendly. The room was not too hot or cold and it was quiet.
Relaxing and comfortable after a long journey The heating system and how to use it in your room!
Convenient location for us at the time At dinner, poor selection of desserts - but quality of what was available was ok
comfortable budget hotel ideal for business trips none
Free Wifi internet. Decor, room, and bathroom, Dining tables were too high to be comfortable. Road noise was mostly masked in my room, but not sure about other rooms.
Cold, run down and over all not anything other than a place to (try) sleep.breakfast was good room was not very clean, beds were uncomfortable, quite run down
The staff, in particular Brian the night porter who went the 'Extra Mile' in terms of service, help and courtesy
Food was excellent Staff were very friendly. There was a very good Bus service to City center and also to Airport. Our bed was too small 4 foot.
Location and style of hotel - motel style. Service at breakfast good and friendly Smoky atmosphere - had to change rooms. Beds uncomfortable, only twin beds available. Not very comfortable at all
slept as i was working localy
Polite staff and good breakfast.
I did not like the size of the room it was far to small is my knees were touching the shower when sat on the loo. The drains needed sorted as this caused my room to smell and it was far to cold.
Nothing The central heating didn't work. I was welcomed by a confused say 15 year old boy. there was a birthday party of the 13 year old daughter in the residents lounge. I didn;t get the seaview room I boooked. they didn;t eeven have my on line booking. In fact there was not on redeeming facot.
The room was comfy, spacious and lovely decor, view of sea was lovely to wake up to Nothing at all
The historic significance and the hotel's representation of all that is good and traditional about English "superior guest-house" hospitality. I seriously cannot think of any.
friendly staff. was made welcome. nothing
The room was a sea view room and very large, bedroom and bathroom very clean, very very close to southend pier and amusements and to the town centre itself bed was hard but that is a personal prefernce and not one that should be held accountable towards the hotel, the noise from the floorboards from the room above was rather loud both in the night and in the morning so not one for the light sleeper
friendly helpful, clean and tidy value for money
Good clean family run hotel. Pleasant staff, good facilities and close to attractions. a great bar/bistro with a seaside outlook was situated on the beach a few yards away. None
Very friendly owner and freshly decorated.
Very friendly owners
The room was clean and well stocked with tea and coffee, the staff were friendly.
Lovely styled room, nice suprise. loved the sofa. loads of tea, sugar and milk always an asset Heating didnt work. toilet was heavily stained and smelt, holes in the sheets blinds didnt close at the bottom, had to stand on sofa to draw the curtain. fire alarm sounds 'fire in zone 1. there wasnt any members of staff on site so I dealt with it, muting the alarm and calling a number. My guess is a smoker but if it hadnt been we could have been in trouble
Warm welcome, friendly atmosphere made me feel very at ease.
Location. Breakfast. Owners. Almost booked a nearby place at half the price, but was swung by the prospect of an 'Executive Room'. The Waverley has some really lovely rooms... but not all of them it seems, & unfortunately the room we got was a disappointing one - duvet had cigarette burn; carpet was most stained I've ever seen; room was cramped; had to stand on the bed to operate tv from the top (no remote). It's a shame as some rooms looked great, but that just makes it even more disappointing when you pay the same money for one of the poorer ones. We asked if there was another room - but they were all reserved, which shows that people in the know, do return. For a lovely stay ask for one of the more recently refurbished rooms, otherwise you might be disappointed
the rooms werent great but did for a 1 night stay for work purposes and considering the price they were ok ,van was safe outside so all in all ok
pleasantness and friendliness of all staff. Good food well presented Rooms were a little on the dark side
The staff were all very good and very helpful. The rooms could do with updating.
Everything worked, comfy bed, clean Felt old fashioned even though recently redecorated
Restaurant and leisure club excelent TV system was not working. Motel style is offvputting especially in poor weather
The rooms are in need of an overhaul - the bathroom needed a good clean.
It was a freindly and clean hotel. Location was perfect for us, as we were going to a birthday party nearby
Good value for money dinner menu difficulty mastering the room heating controls
Food good Dreary, motel like feel. In need of major refurb which they are planning
The staff were accommodating and the food was good The bedrooms are in need of refurbishment, they are very tired especially the bed, I could feel the springs.
Efficient service Not really but no bath plug in my room and people smoking outside my window so couldn't open as it was ground floor. Bathroom grouting needs attention in the room I stayed in.
beautiful large room. The shower head in our room would not stay in place so we had to wedge the shower lead round the taps. It made having a shower a challenge! The chairs in the room were somewhat hard so an armchair in the room would have been the icing on the cake.
No food drink or room service available 2-6 p.m at weekends. We wanted afternoon tea!
Good sized clean bathroom
Room was very comfortable and clean Staff although helpful were not well informed on local attractions/ services
size of bed cooked breakfast staff Bar area
Location to City Centre Bath water not hot enough
Excellent room, fantastic food and friendly staff n/a
Convenience Couldn't find a vending machine
bedrooms staff at breakfast were to busy speaking about their evening out and not paying enough attention to guests.
Quick service Bathroom decor is a little dated and te location isnt highlighted too well in the surrounding area
Have stayed several times, it is a suitable location for my requirements Could do with a fridge in the room
Sky sports in the room Well kept room Well kept hotel Nice surroundings They could have been a bar menu
very relaxing and enjoyable not enough time to do a lot more in the time we spemt there
Excellent facilities, well laid out room Had to ask for a remote for TV, but was supplied very promptly
Relaxing, good facilities and standard of hotel.
At 1:45 am the radiator in the room woke us up making such a loud drilling noise for about 20 minutes. The morning breakfast was not very nice the beacon and sausages were over cooked and bland and we had to serch for someone to top our coffee up
The facility and the faculties were awesome . Nothing
very polite and coutious staff. Room cleanliness bar food cold be improved.
The hotel staff. We were impressed by the check-in staff on reception, the evening duty manager & service staff at breakfast. All were welcoming, helpful, charming and very well trained. Proximity to the event we were attending at Layer Marney Tower.
Food in resturant Busy with corporate event all weekend
The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and functional. The room faced onto a very busy road which was noisy most of the night.
I Have never been to a hotel before that had actual duvets rather than bed sheets :) and the total black out blinds were brilliant
Clean and close to town centre
very comfortable and beyond the standard anticipated at the price. A very enjoyable stay and I will be returning
Ease of location
Very good service, quiet and very clean
Convenient on-site restaurant Poor sound insulation between rooms
convenient location friendly and efficient staff comfortable room nothing
Handy for my then needs difficulty of handling curtains and lack of A/C
the evening menu and food were good long walk in the rain from room to dining room!
Nice pleasant clean hotel. Very close to Southend airport! No problems with noise. Car park fairly cramped and you might end up a fair walk away from the hotel. Staff were very friendly. The room was fairly small but as I expected. I'd be very upset if I'd paid the full room rate! always look around for a discounted price!
room was warm, clean, quiet. Bathroom excellant, even had a proper hairdryer. Staff helpfeul, efficient and smart. Could have been more tea bags and milk in hospitality tray, but on mentioning at reception were told they would have been happy to deliver more. As it was past one am didn't think it worth it.
Proximity to airport - London Southend. NA
The use of a private room for the 70th birthday dinner we attended. Excellent facilities at the indoor pool, and the offer from reception staff to open at 7 am. Pleasant friendly atmosphere from staff. We had an executive room with sitting room at £135 - good value, bu would have been content with a bedroom only at a lesser cost had we been able to book earlier - our problem. Hope to return Oct. It would have been nicer at breakfast to have had pineapple juice as one of the juices, also more choice of fresh/tinned fruit, individual bowls rather than one mixed bowl. Nevertheless I enjoyed my Continental breakfast
The function attended on Sat 27th November was well organised Our room was too cold and reception staff/mangement were not very helpful or understanding of the situation. It was a very cold period and no account of this was taken into account - almost an attitude that nothing could be done!!
Clean, comfortable, staff helpful. Intermittent loud noise (? fridge; aircon? )about hourly which woke us up.
Comfort and quality was very good
The hotel overall was really good and I thought the housekeeping team did a wonderful job. The room was a good size, as was the bathroom. I particularly loved the open fires in the lounge areas. ~There was not really enough wardrobe space.
Nice setting, quite Restaurant quite formal, fussy menu
Room, easy wi-fi, good food, good location
Perfect place, facilities are fantastic, staff is helpful, and allow you to use the swimming pool even out of the planned hours, good experience Gym was a bit small and always full, however, fantastic place for jogging around the hotel!
comfortable bed, good location poor quality TV
I am always extremely fair when writing reviews as I realise these can strongly affect a business. I have to say that the approach to the Hotel and the building itself is lovely and the room was very clean. The grounds are well kept and on first impression we were delighted with the Hotel. There were 7 of us (4 rooms) staying at the Hotel as we were attending a function in the evening locally. We arranged to meet up in the afternoon in the bar for a snack although we were only allowed to sit in a small unnatractive private lounge with no character, more like a waiting room, as there was a Wedding Reception about to arrive. We came back down to the bar before we went out for the evening although again were not allowed in the bar. We had a loveley evening and returned to the Hotel about 11.45pm, there were no other guests to be seen. We had to find the 1 member of staff on duty to get a drink and sit in a corridor. Breakfast was awful and staff did not seem particularly interested in us at all.
It was well situated for the event I attended and the room was comfortable. No shampoo or conditioner in bathroom. Poor quality soap. Very few channels on TV.
The length of the pool and its shape was conducive to a proper swim session, always a bonus at a spa, its not all about lounging at one end talking to other people thats what the Jacuzzi is for. The service in the restaurant for evening meal was slow, a wait of an hour between the starter and the main course. The food when it turned up was distinctly average considering the price was quite expensive.
Food and service was good in the restaurant The room internet service did not work and it took until the morning for the staff to reset the system after I had queeried why it was not working at 18.00 the day before
The hotel appeared to be lovely. Terrible staff, nobody refilling the breakfast bar or serving. Bolshy staff when something was not right. This unfortunately was a typical rather rubbish English hotel. When you drive up you cannot even find the front door! It turned out to be 3 doors around to the right!
Rooms very comfortable and clean.
Staff were very friendly Breakfast was extremely poor and in my view unacceptable after having paid over £90 for two of us
I liked the way the hotel was on the sea front and not to far away from the main southend. eg pier, town and amusements I did'nt like the shower. It was'nt very powerfull and the water flow was rubbish.
we found the accomodation clean and fairly comfortable, the room sizes were generous and the breakfast was excellent value for money I found the checking in process very slow
Ver near to location required, friendly helpful staff. Was a bit surprised to be asked for id when I requested to pay by cash.
Very convenient for my business visit, Parking available, decent accomodation, security precautions.in place Breakfast next door a disappointment. Not value for money, Too much like a supermarket style
Very comfortable beds None
Staff, service, sleep quality, excellent en-suite, cleanliness, location. Wifi cost too high but free wifi availabile in Halfway House pub just outside.
very helpfuk staff on reception and the night porter was excellent The total breakfast was a farce , the service was appaling , slow service and a didnt give a dm attitude .The buffet was poorly replenished and there were not any beakers for coffee only cups , no saucers
it was very clean and the staff were helpful. Good location too.
Friendly and chatty staff who were always approachable. Extremely comfy beds.
Very clean and a nice comfotable double bed Nothing
Excellent room, very clean. Mini bar massively overpriced, staff a little clueless at reception
It was an ideal location for the purposes of our stay. The bathroom light turned itself off at random intervals which was a shock when you were in the midde of a shower to be left in the dark. Also considering it was November the bed linen wasn't particularly very thick or plentiful.
Very relaxing good value for money Bathroom needs a revamp
It's a really relaxing hotel, just like home None
Bed Comfort , Quiet Breakfast started late, No snacks available on evening arrival other than minibar - bring back the coffee bar!
Comfortable room Hotel building has no charm at all and is very worn and frayed at the edges.
Staff at reception very welcoming. We went with our daughter and son in law. The chambermaids gave us some extra milk and were very kind. The breakfast was superb. Delicious scrambled eggs and mushrooms. The spa attendant was very polite. Would recommend this H Inn to everyone except on singles night.
Large, comfy room with good facilities and a nice pool and fitness area.
Location Lack of cleanliness, chaotic management and lack of staff control.
It was convenient for our weekend We had to change rooms as the shower didn't work in the first room; and breakfast was very expensive for what it was!!!
Auto check in was not explained and something we weren't used to and after spending some time being assisted by a staff member, he then changed our room allocation for a higher floor, which he did manually and took ages to action - would have been quicker if he'd done it manually in the first place or asked us where we'd like to have a room if there were so many available. Poor lighting, insufficient area and poor lighting for hair drying - kettle etc in the way, horrible soap, bedside table area too small, window opening not wide enough, disturbed by doors slamming to other rooms in the night and early morning, bed too firm, room rather small - what size was Lenny Henry staying in?
Pleasant dining room, staff very helpful, food very good, room excellent, even though we did request a first floor room.access not a problem despite disibility. None.
Friendly staff, nice clean place, staff keen to put things right Traffic noise, slow dinner service, lukewarm breakfast buffet items, eggs very overcooked, bath overflow pipe went onto floor rather than down drain. no kettle in room just the base.
Everything, was lovely, just as we expected. The shower gel dispenser didn't work in our room, but always has in the other Premier Inn's we've stayed at so it isn't too much of a problem.
Nice large clean room Only warm bath water, small toilet tissue difficult to use, beds hard and uncumfortable
Location to the station The car park was a bit of a state
staff were very friendly and accomodating would come back
The staff were excellent. The man on reception I would single out when we booked in. He went far beyond what would expect and is a credit. Nothing. It was a good stay.
New, nice, comfortable, clean, good staff. English hotels are always very bad, but this was extra good.
Comfortable room, good breakfast. Quiet room. Satnav sent me the wrong way. Dirty food bag left under the bed. Restaurant too busy for meal.
Great receptionist, room clean and fresh. Somebody damaged my car during the stay. Not Premier Inn's fault tho'...just bad luck.
Really good pub/restaurant on site. We have eaten there often over the last 3 years, independently of our stays at the hotel, and have always found the quality of food to be very good and the staff very helpful. Breakfast too expensive.
Location - near to my nan's house! The heating didn't work so it was uncomfortably cold and the cold kept the baby awake!
The friendly staff and clean room
Quiet and clean Not enough sugar, tea bags, etc.
See above No bad points
The breakfast was great and the bed and pillows fantanstically comfortable There was no bath, only shower
Excellent room & general facilities. None
Obviously a very popular place to stay.Staff attentive, service good, extras as required.Breakfast a particularly pleasant experience but maybe more croissants?
Everything was quite pleasant.
Very atmospheric with genuine Tudor interior features
the large queen bed i booked a excutive room .with smoking preference,i got a jnr room and no smoking .menu could have had more choice on it for the money i paid .
easy parking very clean reasonable price very lively good bar good service comfortable lounge nothing
Had a superb six course dinner with the menu chosen by the chef along with 6 matching wines. Lovely evening. It did not have a swimming pool.
it was nice & quiet for the whole time we were there
Ambience On the expensive side
