We are DOG FRINEDLY. Location: The Hibiscus house is 4/10th of a mile from the local beach, and 1/10th of a mile from Route 28 convenient to everything. Park your car in the sparkling white clamshell driveway at The Hibiscus ch House, bring in the groceries, sheets and towels, and you're done. Everything else you need is here. While the folks back home swelter in the summer heat, you take a leisurely stroll to Colonial Acres Beach. You sip chilled lemonade and feel the cool sand between your toes while you relax in a beach chair. Seagulls and sailboats delight in the gentle breezes as they zigzag the harbor. Your children splash and play in Lewis Bay, taking a break only when Dad asks them to help him catch minnows and fish in the channel. You feel all your cares float away as you enjoy some summer reading or just sit and relax. Later, you return to the cottage and take an exhilarating outdoor shower. You satisfy your appetite, that has been peaked by the salt air, by enjoying a sumptuous backyard barbecue. The HibiscusHouse is a short walking distance to several fine casual restaurants which offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. A bagel deli, an ice cream shop, miniature golf, convenience stores, a church and a library are also conveniently located. However, if wanderlust should overtake you, just hop in the car and explore-either way, enjoy your Cape Cod Experience! The Hibiscus House is a bright and light one story 2 bedroom ranch style house decorated with a nautical decor. The house has maple hardwood floors throughout which is complemented with area rugs. At least two light sources in every room, and all windows have shades as well as curtains. The kitchen and master bedroom (1 Queen bed) and full bath are facing east (backyard) and thus get plenty of morning light. The guest bedroom (1 twin & 1 full size bunkbed) and living room face west and thus get plenty of afternoon light. We have window ac units in the master bedroom and the living room which are on opposite ends of the house, yet most of our guests find it unnecessary except for the occasional heatwave. Due to theEast/West layout and proximity to the shore you will find the cottage is Cape Cod ''bright and breezy'', and we also have fans. In the shoulder season when heating is needed you will love the toasty radiator heat-like having a warm fireplace in every room! The kitchen with table, is fully equipped. Here you will also find helpful brochures, restaurant menus, a map, supermarket directions, a list of dog friendly beaches, information about ''hidden'' Cape Cod beaches, running routes, and favorite walks, playgrounds, free tennis courts, where to find free parking in Hyannis. etc. The living room and the guest bedroom both have televisions. Vcrs, Dvd players and stereo (living room only) The house has wifi. And you will find a small library of movies to watch and books to read, as well as games. The coffee table is large enough to play games on, with the Foosball game (in basement) being a favorite. Six can be seated comfortably and the futon which has a heavy duty cushion opens out into a comfortable double bed. The living room closet has a vacuum, broom, mop, cane-if you need one, and umbrellas (which we hope you do not need). The guest bedroom closet stores the ironing board and pack and play crib. Exit to the backyard through the kitchen door and you will find a gas grille with tank and backup gas tank, a charcoal grille (bring your briquettes), a bird feeder (we fill at start), the ever popular hammock, outdoor shower, and a convenient trash bin on the driveway side of the house. The backyard feels fairly private, especially because it abuts woodlands in the back, and we plant corn and sunflowers in the garden which in the latter part of the season forms a natural fence. Even without the garden it is extremely relaxing. We've seen Seagulls, Ducks, Ospreys (there is a great Osprey nest 500 feet from the house), Wild Turkeys, all other types of birds, foxes, squirrels, raccoons, woodchucks, rabbit's, cats and the occasional coyote. Not all at the same time of course, but the variety has been amazing. You can always enjoy the birds while enjoying a beverage at at the patio table, lounging in the hammock or relaxing in the lawn chairs. Use the bulkhead to enter the basement where you will find the washer and dryer (laundry detergent provided), games and sand toys. This is a good place to store your bicycles when not in use. The bulkhead has a padlock. Our neighborhood (Colonial Acres) has a very friendly community feeling to it - probably our most favorite thing about living here. Jean and Bob live in the neighborhood. Should a problem arise, Bob is generally available to help. Looking forward to your visit.
