“Danke”

Thank you!
An important one to master.

“Kiez”

This is the local word for neighbourhood, and since Berlin has many neighborhoods, each unique in its own way, this word is used diligently by Berliners.

“Geil”

Though your language app might say otherwise, this word is used to describe something cool, nice, awesome or wicked.

“Späti”

Späti refers to the corner stores around the city, that are open late (spät means late) and cater to the nightowls.

“Ick”, not “ich”

Ich means “I” and it’s usually pronounced eeysh. Though not in Berlin. Here you’ll hear people pronounce it something closer to ick.
