Pros: "Nothing! It was the first day of our honeymoon, and it was ruined by Swiss."
Cons: "This (attempted) flight was like living a nightmare. The aircraft had a problem with the A/C, so we sat in the extremely hot aircraft on the tarmac for 2 hours while they tried to fix the problem. Then, when we were finally told that the aircraft could not fly, the Swiss staff said that we were "not allowed" to leave the aircraft. After stressed passengers confronted the crew demanding to be let off the aircraft, we went back into the terminal to wait for hours in line as just two Swiss staff filled out hotel vouchers by hand for over 200 passengers. Adding insult to injury, we were then told to wait for a hotel shuttle at the curb, despite the fact that the shuttle had stopped running hours earlier at midnight. I didn't fly to Switzerland until the next day, losing hundreds of dollars on a missed hotel stay in Zurich, and travel plans. And it was an awful start to my honeymoon. The way the Swiss staff treated us was unconscionable and insulting. They have not responded to my several written complaints, so maybe Kayak can help!!!"

The flight wast full and didnt see any other bags gate checked, and there was a bunch of room in the overheads, they werent full. Then to add salt to the wound when we arrived our luggage was dripping water (and it wasnt running at our destination it was at the connection) several clothes were ruined or needed cleaning. As I was on the way to my fathers funeral this was an added pressure that I didnt need."

We were offered a cup of water once during this delay which is inexcusable. (We were also woken up to serve dinner at 1am so that was incredibly inconvenient for an overnight flight) On top of that, I, as well as many others missed our connecting flight. Personally I missed my connection by 20 minutes, which seems a reasonable amount of time to hold a connecting flight with so many people from our flight on that next one. In missing by only 20 minutes, we have lost an entire day of our trip and are spending 9! hours in the airport today. There was no communication between flights clearly. Despite there being an earlier flight we could’ve been placed on after missing our connection - we did not get booked on this flight. I asked why and they just randomly placed people on random flights with no regard for when we showed at the desk. In this scenario, a first come first serve would have alleviated an absolutely awful experience. I will never fly Swiss Air again and will urge people I know to not fly this airline. The experience was extremely frustrating, the best response from an employee was “that’s all I can do for you” and I wish it on no one."

His very hairy large belly was touching my daughters head every time. He and his children punched the backs of our seats on a regular basis. My back was in constant pain and I was unable to do very many things due to the back pain during my "vacation", The flight attendants had to remind the parents that their children could not stand on the seats during takeoff or crawl around under the seats. No ability to change seats or I would have. I didn't have a problem with the other children on the flight, when they were crying their parents tried to do something. However these people brought playdough for their child to roll out or punch on the seat tray and all they did was constantly yell loudly at their children, Well not about the kicking, punching, or crawling around. Just yell in general at them."

Pros: "I got ill on my flight to Zurich and the Swiss Flight Attendants attended to me like true professionals. They made sure I was comfortable until we landed which meant the world to me considering I was SO far away from my home. I'd like to especially acknowledge Frank, one of the attendants, who sat next to me to make sure I did not feel alone while I was sitting in the back with ice on my head, and felt like the world was spinning. He was my point of trust and warmth. That was not only extraordinary service, but human compassion at it's finest. Furthermore, the head attendant, who's name I could not get in the haze of the flight, escorted me from the plane to the cart who took me to the lounge to recover until my next flight. Thank you, Swiss Airlines, for having employees who knew how to triage my illness, and took care of me like family would. I appreciate it greatly and will surely be booking all my future European flights on Swiss. Please extend my gratitude to the flight crew on my Athens - Zurich flight on 5/28."

No internet--big drawback on overseas flights. On our trip there, one bathroom was a mess, plus out of toilet paper. Told the stewardess, and they closed it for a while--took some time for it to be attended to. The entertainment choices are VERY slim--don't know why a more extensive list of choices could not be made available."

The entertainment was good with a wide selection of movies and TV shows. The crew was incredibly nice and helpful and I had a really pleasant time talking with them. On the airport team side I can also say they were extremely helpful as I missed my flight and they promptly rebooked me on the next one 3h later, free of charge. I think the stress of missing a flight was completely deflected by the help of the Virgin Atlantic crew at the desk so thank you for that!"

Shortly after take-off, our calm and comfortable more or less empty section of the aircraft was colonised by an extended family of Orthodox Jews in a kind of airborne West Bank situation. They weren’t in our section of the cabin at all to start with, and I don’t know why they were apparently able to get a free upgrade that I had to pay £100 for. We went from being in an almost empty cabin to being basically sat in the middle of an Orthodox Jewish kindergarten. It was awful! They were noisy, messy, were constantly getting in and out of their seats, the back of my seat kept getting kicked, and there was even a baby crawling around the aisle. We were surrounded. I have no idea whether this is characteristic of Orthodox Jewish family life, or just a completely inconsiderate family. They didn’t exactly ruin my flight, but they didn’t make it enjoyable either. I asked to be moved. The cabin crew were great and acknowledged the difficulty of the situation. My wife lost her window seat but at least we still had the legroom and peace and quiet."

And finally cabin crew were lacking serious customer service and when u ask for something they were just so reluctant to deliver as if we were given a free ticket or something. May it be noted that my ticket was not that cheap to be treated in such manner."

Though the cabin crew were smiley and friendly, it was hard to get their attention when needed. The PA system is much louder than the entertainment, so announcements were ear bursting. The dinner selections ran out early, so a good proportion did not get their choice."

Cons: "We were told over the phone that we could bring our kayaks with us to Africa but the airport staff denied not only our kayaks, but also our paddles which were in a standard ski bag. Their excuse was that both the kayaks and paddle bags were 2 inches too long. .. TWO INCHES!!!!!! We had record of the person we talked to and the time and date, but none of that seemed to matter. It caused A HUGE INCONVENIENCE for us since we are in Zambia for 6 weeks without our gear to paddle one of the most challenging rivers in the world... the Zambezi. Now we are constantly trying to acquire the proper equipment with very little success. We run a nonprofit called the Montana Kayak Academy which provides free whitewater instruction to youth between 8 &18 yrs old and we will be sure to tell everyone we know to NOT TRAVEL WITH EITHER VIRGIN ATLANTIC OR BRITISH AIRWAYS.... EVER!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Pros: "I was selected for additional screening at the gate. I have no problem with this at all. From the start I told them I am traveling with my fiancee. They tried to hold me back in a separate area after the screening and I once again told them my fiancee was waiting for me. One staff memeber walked with me half way back to get her and then disappeared. By the time I found her and came back, the staff memeber was no where to be found. Now we had lost are spot in the line and had to go to the back of the line. We spoke to 3 different staff people about what was going on and everyone said, oh the guy over there will help you. But no one did. The staff had No idea how to run a security check or handle paople. There was No working wifi! There was no tvs in the seats, only the old style in the aisle. The staff told me the plan was going to retire at the end of the month. The food was more for animals then for humans! We got updates by txt 10 mins before the staff updated the gate on our flight out from SFO. I have traveled all over the world with a lot of airlines and Never had such a poor service, but what is it to expect. It was United after all!"

All beverages are given out in small cups, even water is given out in small cups increments (finish in one gulp), they don't even give out small bottles of water. No complimentary packet (eye shades, socks etc.) , not even a barf bag for collecting trash."

I enjoyed the flight and would like to fly Virgin Atlantic more. Finally, you are the 3rd best flight, I have ever take, and the 2nd best airline I've been on. Flew Business Class on Swiss Air once to Geneva (#1) and all the flights I have had with Porter Air are comparable to your airline, but the free cookies and beverages at Porter's terminal in Toronto wonderful."
Cons: "A couple things went wrong on this trip, my checked luggage got misplaced for a day, and a nice women in baggage claim told me what was happening and a nice man handled my claim and my bag has now been returned to me. The bigger thing is my flight bas delayed taking off by 3 hours. Let me start that I would rather have a part replaced on the runway then not, safety is paramount. The fact is my flight took off 3 hours late from London (VS11), and got to my destination (BOS) 2.5 hours late. Kudos to the flight crew for getting me to my destination faster by gaining a little time. Plus, since BOSTON was my final destination it was all fine this time. But if I had had to get home to the elder person I take care of or my teenager it would been a problem. Again, I'm annoyed, but I do understand the reasons and they are valid and preferred. I have heard that airlines to keep their flight rating high, wait for planes to leave the gate on time and then do repairs on the tarmac. If this is still a SOP for airlines you should change the way the statistics are collected and figure out a way of not perpetuating this type of disincentive. This is just hypothesis on my part, and my whole trip had little negatives."

Cons: "After checking in my wife and I were in separate seats. I was then unable to change my seat after check in. After calling the helpline I was informed that it is impossible to change the seat after checking in until I am at the airport. No other airline has such an obscure, in efficient rule. Virgin takes pride in being a step above their competition - I didn't see it. I have flown international on Delta, American Airlines, British Airlines, United, and others and any difference in the experience was negligible."

Cons: "The seats!!!! Omg I got bed sores. Not really but they have got to be the most uncomfortable things I have ever sat in. For a European flight from Uk they'd be fine. But for 9 hours...not good. The short hop down from ATL to MCO after was a blessed relief. Virgin, you have got to think a little more about your passengers asses. Also, having flown with just about every major transatlantic operator, including previous trips with Virgin, the knee room was not good. If you stretched out under the seat in front you were ok but draw your knees up... I wore short trousers for comfort and have sore points on my knees where they rubbed against the material of the chair in front."

It took me almost 20 minutes to walk to the gate just in time for boarding and was pleased that my bag had made it onto the same flight. There was loads of leg room in economy which as a tall person is really important."
Pros: "The flight was actually an Air Canada flight - a code share with Lufthansa. I had a good flight. The cabin crew were fantastic - very accommodating because I wasn't able to pre-select my vegetarian option online earlier due to the code share. They were very polite and professional. The seats were relatively comfortable and the movies onboard were aired and good. I would fly Air Canada again."
Cons: "I disliked the confusion with the code share. I have never flown a code share before an I was under the impression I was flying Lufthansa - not Air Canada. I really disliked not being able to check in online 24 hours before on either Lufthansa's site or Air Canada. That is ridiculous in this day and age - surely the two airlines can coordinate something were the traveller can check in online on one of the sites. Also, as a vegetarian, I wasn't able to select my meal - I had to hope that they had enough vegetarian meals to give me one. This is another problem thanks to the code share. If this is what code sharing is like, I won't be doing it again. No thanks. I'll book directly."

We would have chosen to not sit together rather than endure that had we been given the option. Also, the menu they distributed said they serve ice cream but we asked and then didn't have any.
