2.2 Chasing the summer heat: North Africa is for the win

Seven of the ten best-priced long-haul destinations this summer are sizzling – literally. North African Marrakech is a bargain at £179 on average, flight prices to Algiers and Cairo are down 12% and 6% respectively. The Middle East shines, with Jeddah, Dubai, and Amman as wallet-friendly getaways. And across the Atlantic Toronto and Montreal are bringing cool city breaks with lower flight prices than last year.

2.3 Biggest price drops: Beach or city? Enjoy both!

These aren’t just “cheap flights”, these are flights that actually got cheaper. Like, dropped big time since last year. So if you’ve been procrastinating on booking that trip, congrats, you’ve just become a legend-status penny pincher.

Island destinations like Funchal, Granadilla, Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca offer seaside vibes for less. Munich leads the city destination ranking, with prices down 32% following last year’s football tournament, with Dublin (-20%), Oslo (-20%) and Prague (-11%) also seeing price drops. Osaka is down £104 on average, perfect timing to visit EXPO.

2.4 A summer week away for under £1,000? You can do it.

Let’s be honest — if there’s no comfy hotel bed, is it really a holiday?

KAYAK data reveals the best trips under £1,000, including round-trip flights and seven nights in a hotel. Tirana leads at £676 for beach lovers, while Valencia, Madrid, and Istanbul offer sunny bargains. City breaks in Krakow, Brussels, Prague, Munich, Vienna, and Berlin also come in comfortably under budget.

3.1 Stick to shoulder weeks to save.

Timing is everything: KAYAK data shows June and September offer the best flight deals. International return flights average £412 in mid-June and just £233 in September — £558 cheaper than late July peak prices. If flying in early July, aim for departures on 3rd or 4th July to save the most.

Domestic flight prices dip to £94 on average in early June (week 24) and hit a summer low of £92 by mid-September (week 37).

💡 Tip: 18th and 19th July are shaping up to be the busiest days for British travellers to fly out, so avoid these unless you love fighting for overhead bin space.

What’s hot.

We looked at the most searched flight destinations to find out where the Brits spend this summer, what’s trending and what it might cost you.

2025-header-4-whats-hot

4.1 Brits are torn: Mediterranean ease or Asian adventure?

Some destinations never go out of style. These are the ones topping British travellers’ flight searches for summer 2025.

Asia is having a summer moment, with Bangkok, Manila and New York are topping the most-searched list — all seeing lower flight prices than last year. Southern Europe remains a British favourite, with Farom Málaga, Alicante, and Barcelona holding strong, while Orlando, Tokyo, and Colombo round out the top 10.

4.2 Up the radar summer destinations.

Some destinations are quietly cool — others will light up your group chat.

With 68% of Brits seeking somewhere new*, these spots saw the biggest year-over-year increase in flight searches. Scandinavian café culture, African adventures, Latin American rhythm, and buzzing Asian cities lead the way, with Chisinau and Zurich offering very different — but equally rewarding — escapes.

Do some City Jumping — Use KAYAK’s multi-city search to follow the trend of combining two trips in one, because THE only thing better than one trip is two.

morning-flights

Morning flights

Beat the sunrise, beat the delays — Morning flights are often cheaper and less likely to be delayed. Win-win.

mobile-first

Mobile first

Mobile can mean cheaper — Some fares are lower when booked on the app, so search on our app and save without lifting a finger (well, maybe one).

low-impact

L.I.T.

Think of Low Intensity Travel — Skip the hotspots and explore lesser-known gems in popular countries, to travel more mindful for fewer crowds and often better prices.

exchange-rate

Money exchange

Follow the exchange rate — A weaker local currency (think Turkey, Japan or Indonesia) can sometimes stretch your budget further than a cheap flight will.
