Top tips for finding cheap flights to Malta

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Malta flight deals.
  • If you want to see the Italian mainland during your trip to Malta, it is possible to fly direct from the UK to Catania with Ryanair from London Luton (LTN). From Catania, you can then fly on to Malta. Although this journey involves a layover, it costs around the same price and takes around the same amount of time as a direct flight from the UK to Malta.
  • Once you find a cheap flight to Malta, your arrival terminal will likely be Malta International Airport (MLA). The airport is approximately 8 km (5 miles) from the city centre of Valletta, with several transit options, including bus and taxi. On arrival at the airport, take a walk to the arrival hall and take the shuttle bus that will get you to Valletta, only a short distance from the airport.
  • On arrival at Malta International Airport, you can walk to Malta La Valette Club Lounge, past the luggage claim areas, and relax in the comfy plush chairs. You can take a shower after a long flight as the kids enjoy a beautiful view of the aquarium. La Valette Club Lounge also has a range of snacks, drinks and cuisines you can sample before you leave.
  • Passengers flying out of London Heathrow (LHR) with Air Malta can enjoy access to the Plaza Premium Lounge, located inside Terminal 2. Entry to the lounge costs around £20 per hour and spa and relaxation facilities are available inside.

On arrival at Malta International Airport, you can access the cash points, where you can withdraw your cash and head to the foreign exchange facilities. The cash points are near the check-in area and the arrival corridors. Although there are currency exchange kiosks available at Malta Airport, they tend to have expensive fees; hence, it is advisable to complete the exchange in Malta.
  • If you are travelling with young children and plan to hire a car at Malta International Airport (MLA), make sure you book a vehicle with the correct child restraints installed. According to EU law, children aged three and under cannot travel in a car without a child’s seat.
  • Want to reduce your carbon footprint on your trip to Malta? Flights from London Heathrow with Lufthansa can cut your CO2 emissions by around 47% compared with other airlines. Lufthansa flights on this route usually involve a single layover in Frankfurt and can increase your travel time and cost of travel.
  • Passengers landing at MLA will find public transport options available. If you are travelling to Valletta, you can take the X4 bus from the airport and reach the city in around 30min. Bus tickets usually cost around €2 (£2).

Flights were on time, boarding was straight forward. Very good attentive staf

Delays on both journeys - only found out before geting to the airport as had created trip within Kayak.

Late again to leave and late to arrive. Seats are too hard.

Despite delay due to weather ,flight was a pleasure and in particular the staff who worked their tails off because of the delay

Jet2 fab as always. Despite the shambolic airport process to get us to the plane (nothing to do with Jet2) and the time that set us back, all the crew were superb in getting us on our way once boarded.

Everything from check in to the flight was great. Helpful staff. Immaculate planes. There is nothing I would change

Staff were excellent but space wasn’t the best, seats were cramped and windows had no blinds.

There is nothing I can think.of that jet2 need to improve They offer a great package. Very efficient

They are organised and customer service is so good from arriving at the airport until finally landing at your destination. The experience is a million times better than travel with Ryanair.

All was good but they should bring back seat pockets. It’s difficult trying to travel with small children and keep having to get stuff out of flight bag and then have nowhere to put it!

Our check-in was mediocre. We were told that we didnt have access to the lounge although we were in business and we were asked to remove 1kg from each of our checked luggages as they had 21 kgs and we found out that our tickets were for 20kgs checked bags. I would have expected: 1 - more clarity on the website so that I could see the difference on fares and be able to buy tickets with more checked luggage kgs allowance, and lounge access, and 2- more flexibility for business class passengers.

On the flight back the seats where very uncomfortable, they where so bad that my back started to hurt after the first 2 hours. I can sit in a wooden chair for 2 hours. But these where just horrible, it just shows how cheap the airline has become. And the cabin was heated all those people in a heated cabin during a night flight. It was clear the climate control was not working. To top that off you are not even offered a glass of water, these people are animals.

We purchased a Go First Pass for 10 Euros each so we could board first, but everyone was able to board at the same time so we wasted 20 Euros. The flight left ab out 15 minutes late and was not allowed to land at Healthrow so we had to circle Heathrow for about 45 minutes. This caused us to almost miss our flight from Heathrow to Atlanta.

Severely delayed with no notice. Could have arrived at the airport hours later had we been informed of the delay

Once the boarding sign went on and all passengers gathered in line, we were left waiting standing up for almost an hour because there was a delay.

It would be nice to have vegan options for meals. The entertainment was not working on the the way to Austria. It was only available near the end of flight to Canada. The service was excellent.

Flight was delayed by approx 1 hour. The boarding process and the flight itself were very good, slightly tight squeeze for my legs but overall happy.

The business class layout on this plane is tightly packed and atrocious with no sense of privacy.

Flight was meant to leave at 8:30pm but there was a 2 hour delay 😞

Airmalta does not include meals in their flights and neither offers entertainment.

We boarded and then sat on the tarmac for an hour….probably not E Jets fault. But the gentleman that checked us in and took our luggage was exceptionally friendly and calming for early morning/ confused passengers. As always, it’s the people that make or break an experience, right?

Kayak sent several notifications that the flight was late. This contradicted the information on the airport boards. This was extremely confusing and we very nearly missed the flight purely because we double checked with the info desk when the flight stays said’closed’. Kayak notifications are therefore unreliable and pointlesa

Usual issues with flight delay. Perennial problem of travel by plane.

i didnt go this was a hacker booked this flight on my debit card !

Delayed almost 2 hours sitting on plane. No updates at all from flight deck and virtually no updates from cabin crew

Long delay resulted in my being unable to catch a train home and resulted in an additional £76 cost for an Uber

I was charged at the gate for bags I had already paid for. There was no other option. I am trying diligently thought easyJet website but making no progress HELP!

Be sure to check bags for 23 kg,.(50 lbs) Coming from US I chose the wrong size luggage weight when I checked in on my phone, and had to pay more when I dropped it off

All around poor experience. Barely got on flight because it was ostensibly overbooked. Forced into checking a carryon bag with empty overhead compartments. Nickeled and dimed. Charged for coffee. Despicable.

The on board air steward really made the journey. He was very entertaining

Good value for the money. Good leg room. Take off and landing very good.

Seats are very small, I’m not a big person, but the person beside me was using his seat and half of mine… and this person was a bit gross but not a lot…

We were diverted to warsaw and there was zero information. We were just forced to disembark and off we go good luck the reat of the way. We all had to go our ways to find a way home!!!! Horrible horrible and it cost us alot of money to get a hotel and trains 4:30 pm next day.

Long delay was made worse by lack of information and long time in queue waiting for the plane to arrive

Blood contaminated tissue was stuffed to the back of the seat in front of us.

Great flight, departed only 10 mins behind schedule off the aircraft and through security in less than 15 minutes. Love flying from Cardiff so easy a quick from entrance to duty free in less than 10 minutes 😀

the boarding took a really lo g time, we were standing on stairs waiting to walk out to the plane. Seats are uncomfortable but it’s ok for a short trip. There is no entertainment. Follow the rules and will not have any problems or extra charges

My flight was delayed 1 hour. My Mood was not great

Lord knows why they had us start boarding when the plane wasn't even there, staff weren't welcoming and the couple next to me travelling with a young child had a nightmare with the baby changing facilities.

This time round it was very good, flight delayed by 30mins but capitan put his toe to the floor and made some time up!!

Crew were friendly and very helpful Plane was clean and the legroom is standard. Overall a good flight, no complaints.

Loved flying with this airline. Professional, courteous staff who did everything possible to make the long flight comfortable!

The seats were extremely uncomfortable. I spent €25 on internet and never gained access to it. A flight attendant told me she would file a complaint/report on my behalf but it put me in a very difficult situation.

Flight from Munich to Geneva was delayed an hour without any notice. Finally called 5 minutes after their flight was supposed to leave only to be told it was late. Then after boarding- we were told to leave the plane go back to the terminal so they could make a repair. NO Communication whatsoever. Agent at the airport was rude and offensive. Finally got on the plane three hours after originally planned. Lost our car reservation in Geneva and had to pay $200 more to get the rental. HORRIBLE-HORRIBLE-HORRIBLE!!!!

With the boarding process, shuttle to the plane, and boarding there we ran about 30 minutes late. It was okay for comfort for a short flight.

The food was straight up bad not gonna lie, seats are uncomfortable so I had to re-adjust my self most of the time, delayed our arrival time by alot.

Delay before takeoff, ran out of protein options for the meal served, waited on the tarmac upon landing for and hour, waited in corridor for people mover for 45 minutes and still waited at baggage claim for over 30 minutes. This was after Lufthansa cancelled our flight to Frankfurt. Will definitely be my last option when booking overseas flights.

The connection to LYON was very tight. The flight was nearly finished boarding when we got to the gate

I did not like that they failed to put my luggage on my connecting flight to Athens. I was promised it would be located and delivered within 2 days but later told there was no information on its location. This caused me to have unplanned for expenses because I then had to purchase new clothing to wear on my vacation. I did not receive my luggage until my return flight home. I will not be traveling with them again.

Food selection wasnt great, even for flight meals. However staff was e extremely pleasant
