  • I am flying into Helsinki, Finland. How do I get into the city centre from the airport?

From there, just search for areas that have minimal light pollution and no buildings obstructing your view. Lapland is a good location to see the northern lights as it has sparse population, providing an unspoilt environment to admire the lights.

  • Will I need a visa to visit Finland?

  • How does KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy?

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Finland

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Finland flight deals.
  • Finland is known as one of the best destinations for ski holidays. If you are a semi pro and would like to use your own ski’s or snowboards then you should consider bringing them along and save hire costs. Most airlines do allow extra sporting equipment on board the plane. If you fly with RyanAir or British Airways, they do allow extra luggage on board as long as it fits their requirements.
  • If you book your flight to Finland through KAYAK using your credit card, find out from your bank what sort of insurance you have included on your flight booking. If you are visiting Finland to enjoy the many varied ski slopes you might want to investigate extra medical and health insurance in case of any accidents or injuries.
  • You can find cheap flights to Finland if you follow a few basic rules. If you don’t mind having a stopover en route then this is a great way to save some money. There are a few airlines that do have stopovers and this will make your flight tickets slightly cheaper than a direct flight. Consider this if you aren’t in a major rush and don’t mind the longer travel hours. Airlines like RyanAir stop over at destinations like Warsaw (WAW) and Wroclaw Strachowice (WRO), but you can pick which works best for your travel itinerary plans.
  • There are 27 international airports in Finland and about 5 receive international flights to Finland regularly. The airport that handles the bulk of these international flight is Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport (HEL), located about 17km from Helsinki city centre, in the south of Finland. Helsinki is a great starting point, as it offers the widest range of domestic flights to other Finnish cities.
  • The other major international airports are found in Tampere (TMP), Turku (TKU), Oulu (OUL), Vaasa (VAA) and Rovaniemi (RVN).
  • Finland can be broadly divided into 4 main regions for your travels: Helsinki, Lakeland, coasts and archipelagos, and Lapland. This should help you plan your flights to Finland. It is suggested that you choose to focus on 2 out of the 4 regions unless you have time.
  • Kittila Airport (KTT) is one of the main airports of northern Finland, and it is conveniently located for accessing popular ski resorts and holiday destinations. The airport handles international flight seasonally.
  • If you are travelling with a child who is below 4 ft 5 in, they must be in a car seat when travelling in a car. Car hire companies normally have car seats for rent, but you need to book well ahead of time and request for a car seat.
  • Facilities and towns are located very far apart in Finland, so it may be inconvenient to drive between them as you will have to drive very long distances before you can take a break to stop at places that sell food and drinks. Consider flying between towns and if doing so, you will find booking multi-stop tickets more affordable than single trip tickets, so you should plan your itinerary in advance.

The food from Lagos to Amsterdam was was very poor compared to AMS-YYZ

We left one hour late because of technical difficulties. The economy comfort seats are great for the price. The crew was mediocre, they do not provide a pleasant experience, they just deliver food and drinks and give orders, not very amicable, no service and hospitality focus.

I thought KLM was the best airline but the Lima - Amsterdam was 1 hours late, the Brussels - Amsterdam was 2.30 hours late and the Amsterdam - Lima was 30 minutes late

no issues at all... Kudos to the food. This time was really really good

Overall a good experience. We were disappointed when we had to check our carry on due to the plane being full. KLM hadn’t notified us and we had valuable items in the carry on but they still made us check it. Some of the food was great and some was mediocre. Crew is really kind and funny.

One of the vstewardeses wanted to bump me of the plane for absolutely nothing. There is CCTV in the plane ans everything can be verified. Very disappointing , you all will see, o other 5 years and the passangers who does not smile to flight attendent will be bumped off...

It was nice to be on a legacy airline, people try at least.

I travel frequently. The flight was late again... KLM should really try and be on time

The flight itself it was great nice food the crew were very nice and helpful, Checking in from Birmingham wasn't great long queues for bag dropped, And I had my hand luggage case taken away from me even though I requested to have it with me as I had breakables items. I was told I can not because of the length of the flight with no explanation at all no options was given for me to take my fragile items out of my case it was taken away with hold buggage I find the staff member who was checking me in very unpleasant !! Can we please be advise if the rules have changed about the the carry on hand luggage it will be easier to be advise on booking your tickect if we not allowed to take the hand luggage with me. Overall I had a good flight .

I requested wheel chair assistance , it was confirmed via email that inwoood get it but I didn’t get it . The last leg of my trip to Nigeria was the worst.

The wine was low quality Finnair label stuff in small bottles and only one small bottle each. Embarassinng. A competing airline served me two generous glasses of a nice South African Shiraz from regular wine bottles, a Beck's beer, and a generous Dewar's White Label on the rocks. Cabin service was good and polite, plane interior was beautiful, but cramped.

All good- I love BA and the professionalism of the crew and pilots.

Great flight- smooth, nice crew, nice clean aircraft, departed a little late but arrived 10 early.

It was listed on my ticket as Finnair but there was no indication that the flight was Finnair. In fact the number was even different. There were no employees there until exactly 2 hours before so we had to wait in line at Iberia and hope

Sorting on line would have been appreciated Onward information on flights missed No ability to get seating arranged before we got to gate Very unfriendly at gate

The flight was Finnair but there was no indications anywhere that the checkin was for Finnair also. There was no one to ask. I think at a minimum they should list the code shares so people don’t stand in the wrong line for an hour.

I booked the flight with Finnair, which made the arrangements for downloading a boarding pass unnecessarily complicated. I wouldn't do that again. Instead I'd book direct with AA.

Flight ok, but me and other two passengers didn’t have connection with the entertainment in our seats. So, no movies, no games, no music… for 9 hours. The crew just told us that there’s nothing they can do but I noticed during the flight that there were empty seats, so they could have offered to us to change seats. Customer service could be better.

Had a nice flight to London on BA will fly with them again in the future

Finnair cancelled my flight 12 hours prior to leaving for Helsinki. They stated there were mechanical problems. I had to scurry around to find a new flight that would meet my needs for arrival in Helsinki. Luckily I was able to find alternate transportation through Lufthansa/United.

flight attendant spilled juice on me entertainment was limited i wanted to upgrade but $$$ was exorbitant i purchased $69 seat, only to find out day of flight/purchase never went through & I was "assigned" a terrible seat! ( btw another passenger complained of the same thing happening to her)

Other than a delay that had nothing to do with the staff, it was a very pleasant experience.

3 Flights were late, 1 on time. When you have connections you have to run thru the airport because there is not much time. When asked the flight attendant if they could let us out first because we were 30 minutes late she said it's a small airport, don't worry. That seemed to be the standard line. Other airlines are much more helpful. Our special meals were on our flight going from Boston to Copenhagen, They did not have them for the return even though we had put in for it.

Bathrooms weren’t too clean. Onboard entertainment was light. Other than that everything was great. Food, service, comfort and crew. Although it was hard to understand the crew announcements.

My return flight has been changed to JFK from EWR without any notice or reason

I had economy plus and it’s definitely worth the price. The seats are so comfortable, so much space, great large TV screens, and you get fed often. Really decent food (although other fish was overcooked.) They do need better movie choices. The crew is the best. Super friendly and accommodating. So much better than most American run Airlines.

Flight was delayed 3 hours. Pilot cancelled flight under 4 people volunteered to change their seats to economy from business class.

I paid for wifi and it worked about a total of 5 min. Feel ripped off

Overall, this flight team did a fantastic job. They came often with the water, coffee and tea. There was no meal choice in coach, but the lasagna lunch was decent. The sandwich snack just before landing was tasty. The baggage bins were large, so no trouble holding carry on luggage.

Good friendly service and food - The seats in business class are old, too hard and not very comfortable.

Very good, everything went straight forward, boarding, during the flight, landing and all on time Well done

flight delayed, no information given until late on, Ryanair app said "on time" until 5 minutes before expected departure time, crew rushed us to board, when it was already 3 hours late

I got denied boarding bevause they said they "ran out of seats on a plane"

Speakers were blaring. It's like being in a Moroccan market and you keep getting shouted at with what's for sale

Due to long security check and no last call announcements from Gate staff, my family and 12 other passengers missed the flight.

What can you say Ryanair get you there,no frills Not so cheap anymore ..... but what is now days! Would use again as always. Good flight times for us.

Very unpleasant staff, disgusting service, ignoring requests, refusal to help

Ryanair is the worst airline in Europe and easily one of the worst in the planet

Flight with Ryanair more than 1,5 hours are awful... No space between seats, absolutely uncomfortable stay.

Late again rude staff at gate bullying passengers made us stand in the cold 3degrees for 40 mins before they let us board

Short flight, some waiting to board, but no issues and no frills.

Pros: "Nothing, except I got to my destination safely"
Cons: "Everything. They don’t ever offer you WATER in a 10 hour flight!! Check in crew rude. Attends dismissive to rude."
Cons: "Norwegian was unwilling to refund flight to and from Rome in the height of the Coronavirus pandemic."
Pros: "It got me to my destination. Nothing else to like."
Cons: "Boarding was a circus. The most disorganized I’ve seen. Price-gouging at every turn. Cramped uncomfortable seats. And of course the nonstop screaming infant."
Pros: "We landed safely."
Cons: "The operating flight was changed and our seat were downgraded. Given that it was a birthday trip i wanted my fiancée to be as comfortable as possible. Instead she was stuck in a middle seat between two crying babies with no outlets to to charge our phones for entertainment. Additionally I was notified that I cannot be refunded until after the flight has landed. So technically Norwegian still has my money and I paid top dollar for a less than average experience. Unacceptable."
Cons: "Need food upgrade !!!! Paying for food and not available or sold out is big No No!!!"
Pros: "The entertainment was actually great. Literally everything else was terrible."
Cons: "It was the most uncomfortable flight ever. No water served and no refreshments served at all on the 9 hr flight."
Pros: "Not much"
Cons: "Norwegian used an extremely old Wamos A320 aircraft instead of one of their own 787s. The seats were not only uncomfortable, but also so tightly arranged that my knees touched the back of the front seat, and I am an average 6 feet tall. Inflight entertainment options were available only through the Wamos app, which could not be downloaded on the plane (and Norwegian had not mentioned during check in). Unless for people with pre-ordered food, it was not possible to buy even water until about 3 1/2 hours into the flight. The flight to BCN on a Norwegian plane was okay, but the prospect of another such return experience makes it very questionable to book this airline again."
Cons: "Premium cabin service and amenities very poor. No snacks available with premium ticket. Also no socks or hygiene products typically available on other business class flights. Will not fly Norwegian again."
Cons: "It would be great if they had free drinks and snacks"
