I felt so comfortable here. We'd just arrived after a long flight from the UK and our room was so large, stylish and comfortable that we felt very relaxed immediately. The staff's english seemed to be a good standard and they were very welcoming. Lovely breakfast buffet, a huge choice of asian and western food. I recommend considering an upgrade on arrival to a package including the breakfast and the business lounge (evening drinks plus a small but exquisite european style finger buffet of european breads, meats, cheeses and desserts) plus a late room checkout at 4pm - it cost about £45 more than the room only price but we really got our money's worth.

I had a wonderful stay at the Raffles. Everything went perfectly. The location couldn't have been better--walking distance to shopping,Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The staff was superb! They really went out of their way to help me including recommendations for where to eat, how to get places, arranging transportation (cabs & flights) for me. A+

Stayed for a week in this hotel and enjoyed every minute. The location was superb and the staff was top notch. I would suggest getting the upgrade as the breakfast, afternoon tea and happy hour was enough to eat and saves money in the long run. This also gives you access to the executive lounge to check e-mail or just relax and enjoy the views. When in Beijing I will rebook this hotel.

The hotel is connected to a large shopping mall, but there are few places to get quick food close to the hotel. The main attraction for me was the attentiveness of the staff and the outstanding features of the hotel like restaurants, exercise facilites, fantastic rooms, and other conveniences. They attended to any request immediately and were helpful in giving directions/securing a taxi. A train station is located nearby for easy access to transportation in the city.

Excellent hotel very well kept, friendly and efficient staff. We stayed for 10 days, the room was made twice a day the staff was very friendly and efficient. The only negative was the restaurant, extremely expensive but mediocre food. Fortunately next door is the Fortune Mall with an excellent and clean food court.

A really good hotel. Outstanding staff, very helpful. Excellent food in restaurants. Location outstanding. Only downside was renovations going on behind front desk (making a lot of noise during daytime). And the rooms, while beautifully appointed and maintained, were a touch on the small side; and the baths (with shower-in-tub) are a little small as well. But if you need to stay in the Dongcheng side of things, I highly recommend this property.

Close to everything with Molly Malones Irish pub just across the road. Bank of China 60m away for large currency exchange. Good very cheap Chinese Restaurant 150m on right heading towards Forbidden City. Walk to Forbidden City and Tianemen Square. Most staff speak a little English. Breakfast was excellent. We travel a lot and this is a very quiet, value for money hotel.

He room was very nice, especially the bathroom. The spa and pool area was very nice too. Breakfast we couldn't see unlike promised before booking.

The advertised room on Priceline (free breakfast as amenity) were denied by hotel staff despite repeated asking and showing of screenshots of the hotel description. Also the billing was an issue as the staff seems to have never heard of Priceline before.

Room was nice, service except front desk good. Front desk was friendly but not very helpful regarding the breakfast which was one of the reasons we booked the room. I don't know who to blame, Priceline or intercontinental, but if a room is offered like that it should be delivered too.

The rooms were great, the staff did speak english and the location was in downtown. Services had long hours, so even jet lag wont leave you bored in your room.

The food could be better, but their customer service is great if you present your issue right away with evidence. In my case, my bill for a raw hamburger and fries was credited.

This hotel does NOT have free wifi or free breakfast. Everything in this hotel is priced as 'add-ons', very expensive add-ons. A can of coke sells for $6.40 USD, water is another $10 USD. I would not stay here again, simply because even if you are spending xxx a night on a '5 star' hotel, you will end up spending twice that if you want a full '5 star' experience. There are plenty of other very nice hotels that are a third of this cost and offer way more in services (internet, food and other extras).

We chose this hotel from the many around Wangfujing because it had a pool, but we never ended up using it. (Cap required, and it was a little small.) The staff of the hotel were great, and almost all spoke english. Our room was cleaned twice a day, and the shopping district was within easy walking distance, with taxis outside the door to go farther afield. Breakfast was an odd mix of Western and Chinese, for about $13 pp.

Expedia say it is near to Forbidden City - by helicopter maybe- but I walked ages and ages through the hutongs -and passed the Novotel an hour later en route to the Forbidden City which is way way closer for example to the major toursit sites. The Swissohel in my mind is not particularly near the major sights at all, being slap bang on the second ring road - very convenient to catch the subway right outside the hotel though.

The location is excellent, right in front of a Metro exit, and only one stop from the Airport Express station. There is a big mall nearby, about 10 minutes walk. The front desk is efficient: check-in is fast, and check-out took practically no time. Staff is courteous. The recreation facility is sufficient. There is also free yoga classes at the gym with an attentive instructor. Although the in-room internet connection charge is high, there is free wireless connection at the lobby, and their computer technician is remarkably capable and courteous. My room is well furnished and it does not feel like cookie-cutter. The bathroom is a bit dated (still using the old-fashioned bathtub) but this seems to give more space to the room (in my previous stay at this hotel, the bathrooms have both shower and tub, but then the rooms were small.) When I go to Beijing, as long as my budget allows, I stay at this hotel.

This hotel was ok. The location is good, however, it can be VERY difficult to get a taxi. I almost missed my train twice (I didn't know which bus number to take to Beijing West train station). The staff that is supposed to help get taxis were a hit and miss. Some of them were great and tried to help-others did not speak English very well-I can manage in Mandarin, but it didn't help to much with the staff that didn't seem to care I was in a hurry. I even would try to leave over an hour before my train and still barely made it twice. The subway isn't too far, but kind of inconvenient when it's cold/raining outside. I also wasn't impressed with the tours offered. Most hotel tours are expensive, but I was able to do a private tour at the same price at other Beijing hotels in the past. They also did not enforce the non-smoking floor policy. I do not like smoke and our floor (and sometimes our room) often smelled of smoke despite being a non-smoking floor. The shower worked well and always h...

The staff is not motivated in any way to deliver the service standards of others in China. their ad on expedia promised an upgrade, dinner buffet coupon, wine bottle etc etc. I gone none of these. when i showed them what it said on expedia, they simply said that was wrong. the beds were hard and the quality of food medium but not horrible.

Always happy to stay at this hotel. Only slight issue is the delay there can be in getting taxis but the subway is so close that it doesn't affect your stay only going to the airport. Booking ahead for taxi is necessary for morning departures. We have been coming back to this hotel for 12 years and never had a bad visit.

The hotel is an excellent choice in Beijing. It is close to Tienanmen Square and the Forbidden City and only a 5-minute walk from the busy shopping street. The exterior picture is misleading because aside from a gate the actual hotel exterior just looks like a basic building. But the inside is beautiful. We got a free upgrade to a room with a forbidden city view which was beautiful. the rooftop bar, which was a huge selling point, was closed for the year which was a big bummer. the concierge and front desk speak english pretty well and were extremely helpful with pointing out places we were interested in on our map, setting up train tickets and cabs for us. the room was big and the bathroom was beautiful. not the most character but a good, clean and nice hotel. i'd hear that hotels in beijing left much to the imagination so it was worth paying a little more to have a nice and conveneient stay.

It was a beautiful room and the staff were very friendly. My only complaint is that we are non-smokers and even though we were in a non-smoking room, it was coming through the vents and filled the rooms. The windows did not open so there was no air to compensate this. We were directly beside the forbidden city and around the corner from a street full of street vendors and shopping.
