Cons:

The signage at Chania airport could be clearer for those who are not arriving via plane. I went to the lot only to be told I had to go inside to check in. After walking back and forth, there was quite a bit of time waiting for the attendants to pick up and bring the cars to the lot. They were working very hard but the whole process seemed to take a very long time.

Upon arrival in Crete, Sixt was the only company that had closed their station. Our flight was delayed and we arrived before midnight. Once, we grabbed our luggage we hurried to the car rental area only to be told the person working the Sixt station left a couple minutes before us. All the other car rentals (enterprise, hertz, Avis, etc) were laughing when we told them Sixt had left as they checked the late arrivals and made sure to stay. Sixt automation system was not working and I had no way to contact them to rearrange. Will never book with them again.

Cons:

They did not let us rent the car. We were not allowed to rent the car due to not allegedly having a AAA international license. We didn't have that license and we were still able to rent a car from a different kiosk in Chania and also in Santorini. I suspect that since I was able to lock in a good rate for the car reservation they did not want to honor the pricing.

Collection at airport was ok but we had to wait for the collection person as they had misunderstood our arrival time. We also had quite an old Audi A3 which was in good condition but had quite an old CD player and radio setup and no mod cons. Comfy though and staff were helpful and efficient.

Pros:

Couldn't rent the car because I didn't have an international license. Would have been good to know this before I got there. Ended up having to rent a piece of junk car from some shady rental place on the side of the highway. On the plus side, I saved 100 Euro because it was way cheaper than Europcar

Great staff and service. Good value for money, got a new Opel Corsa in perfect condition. the only down side is that there’s a short shuttle ride from the airport to the agency, shuttle marked with “Yours Car Rental”

It was listed as collection in the airport terminal which is why we picked it, then after booking we were told we had to get a shuttle bus. We had to wait for about 45 mins for the bus to turn up. When we’re denied a refund when asked as we wanted to collect in the terminal. Also when we go there we wanted to take out additional insurance to bring out excess down to 0, but they wanted nearly €30 a day. I’ve rented a lot of cars over the years and this is almost triple what I normally pay. I think they give you a cheap rental price and then fleece you for the insurance. Next time I will pay the extra and go direct with a reputable hire company
