The Westin was very close to the LAX airport and car rentals are right nearby. Very clean and staff was very helpful.
Parking is very expensive $33 a day. I also tried for 20 minutes to find a water fountain, finally asked front desk, said they have no fountains on premise and offered no bottled water...... Food is priced on the high side for breakfast, I did not eat dinner there. Air conditioning worked just marginal, had it down as low as it could go. The worst was 6:30 in the morning I was rudely awakened by 2 women located on the sidewalk screaming in Arabic on 2 megaphones at the building. This went on in a rotating chant for and hour. My room was on the 9th floor and the sounded like they were at my door. I went to the front desk and they explained that it was the Union trying to organize workers and the want to annoy the crap out of the Guests so they will leave and/or complain. .They said they will stop when all employees join the union. Gee, if only my window would open and I could find some water.....From then on I asked all servers etc. (nicely), if they belong to the union, if they said yes I left a smaller or non existent tip! I hope that was annoying. I would stay again but not a room with a "view", bring my own water and check the a/c before I settle in.
Beds were very comfortable. Spent many hours in the lobby restaurant, food was good, portions were good.
We arrived for check-in at 11am; the rooms were not ready upon check-in, which is understandable due to our early arrival. However, the first room was not available until 3pm and the second room for our group was not made available until after 10pm. That is ridiculous. The duty manager would only say that they were at capacity and working to get rooms cleaned as quickly as possible. Really? 10 hours? Unacceptable.
Overall, our stay at the Westin was a good experience.
The room air conditioning smelled of mold. We were constantly on guard to avoid unexpected fees or charges for amenities, such as WIFI, that are often built into the room charge. Parking is available, but at $30/day. Like the song in West Side Story goes "Everything's free in America, for a small fee in America."
Staff was friendly
Too noisy, you could hear every car passing by as well as every take off and landing at LAX Not to mention Union protest with load speakers starting at 7:00 AM every 3 morning for an hour right outside of our window making it impossible to sleep pass 7:00 AM and when we complained, we got offered $50 food and beverage comp and that wasn't enough for one breakfast meal! Also, $30.00 + tax for parking and $11.95 a day for in room wifi Personly, We felt like being nickel and dined for everything. not planing to stay there next time. You are better off paying a little more and staying in the city.
Lobby was beautiful. Great service
I didn't like waking up to bed bugs bites!!!!! Please beware. Ruined my entire stay!
Public areas and restaurant are very nice. Rooms and beds are adequate for a hotel at this price point.
Airport transportation is inadequate at peak times. The shared van system that they use doesn't allow for a scheduled pickup time. Plan on at least 45 minutes to get from or to the airport. An hour or more is quite possible. This is a significant problem and not acceptable for a 4 star "airport" hotel.
Close to LAX.
Thin walls, bar close by was loud airport was loud. It took 45 mins for a shuttle driver to arrive at the airport. Due for a renovation, room is rundown. Nickel and dime for anything.
We needed a place to crash between flights and didn't make full use of amenities. (This property is close to the airport and served by airport shuttles.) Still, it was very nice, though a bit hard on the wallet.
We were traveling on a Friday. The restaurant was very crowded and difficult to get a table. (It would have been nice to have a meal carryout option from the bar or restaurant.)
Hotel was very pet friendly.
I did not like being awakened to mega phones at 6:30 am. The airplanes weren't making noise as loud as yhose protesters and their megaphones. I also didn't like waiting in line for 20 minutes to checkout. They should have a express line for that.
What I did appreciate was a customer rep named Sharon, she helped my wife get another room setup for my family. Lisa the front desk was also very helpful and nice!
My first morning there, was woken up by the housecleaning staff about coffee at 7 am in the morning and shortly thereafter there was a protest for an 1 hour. Vacation didn't start out too well. Went for drinks the night prior and the waitress forgot about us. My wife went up to the bartender and ordered our second round of drinks for us. I am not sure why the hotel has 4 stars. I have been to the other hotels down the street and service in the bar area is way better and no one knocks on your hotel door at 7 am to give you coffee packets, mind you I had a "DO NOT DISTURB" sign put out so we wouldn't be bothered. Apparently housekeeping didn't care and I am sure the protest that was held Saturday morning woke everyone up since they used a bullhorn so that they may be heard. Last but not least, parking rates are ridiculous 28 a night for self parking enough said.
MOLD ,BATHROOM, WINDOW MOLD, MINI FRIDGE, OLD ICECREAM IN THE MINIFRIDGE,FACECLOTH USED ONTOP OF SHOWERRACK. THIS PLEASE STINKS. Biggs in tub.
The hotel room was really nice. Rooms were nice, beds were comfortable, and the room was clean. The pool facilities were good as well.
I was blindsided by a $28 parking fee. And that's the hotel guest price. I though this it was ridiculous to charge 30% of the price of the room just for self parking in a parking garage. I could have stayed in a nicer hotel once you ad that price into it. Also had to pay extra for wifi in the room, and the room had no fridge. This room would be best for someone who needs to stay the night before going to the airport, but if your trying to visit LA, stay away from the hotels in this area.
Hotel didn't clean my room one night out of three and denuded acces to the room to my daughter( check out confusion) very poor coordination among the stuff
Open arrival, the room was dirty, as in there were used, makeup smeared sheets on the floor and one bed was stripped to the sheet and all wrinkled. Someone had stuffed toilet paper in the peephole to keep anyone outside from seeing the light inside. There was a strange white stain on the desk, and there were greasy handprints on the desk and the chair. The desk suggested we wait while the staff cleaned the room, and then it took 30 minutes before we were shown to another room. After that, it was a bit more pleasant, but it was a royal pain and the staff were sloppy and lackluster in addressing the issue. The guy who showed us to the new room reeked of cigar smoke and never apologized. He was totally disinterested and had no hotel name tag and looked like he just walked in off the street.
Comfortable beds, clean room, not bothered by plane noise.
The computer usually used to print boarding passes. The system was done so I was sent to the Federal Express office. When I arrived they had no idea Westin was sending their guests, and then they sent me to the Consierge. When I arrived they had no idea they were supposed to allow me to use their computer. So, I waited while the person checked and finally said I could print it off. This took me over an hour.
Checking in Karina was exceptional, friendly, helpful, courteous, efficient, really made me feel welcome. Always like the Heavenly Bed.
Shower was cold three days in a row, called for room service in evening to get ice and pitcher of water, they never showed up. Called front desk for room service order on Thursday the 4th around 9PM Carissa (sp?) was extremely rude, put me on hold without telling me and then proceeded to hang up. When I called back it took many rings and then she picked up and was rude again. That's enough of that condescending you know what's BS for me. I will be staying in LA for 5-6 nights per week from now until March (close to 100 nights) as well as being responsible for referring many more nights through our company none of which will be in the Westin Hotel.
Great location near the airport when I needed a place that made it easy to get in and out of LA. Close to LAX with a free shuttle to the airport. Huge room at a great price.
Valet parking staff was very courteous and helpful.
Upon arrival we found the hotel under renovation. It seems that the work was being done to the front entrance of the hotel, however, there were no signs directing guests. It was very hard to figure out how to get in. It was a 'Hot Mess'.
I thought being the Westin that we could expect a nice room but this stay was a disappointment. I know being by an airport the location might not be nice but this location is actually more Inglewood and not Los Angeles. The room was dirty and there was hair on the floor and in vanity. It looked like it hadn't even been cleaned.
The hotel is only 5 minutes from the airport and accords you all the facilities under one roof. Although it's slightly dated, the rooms were impeccably maintained and very spacious. The real selling point of the hotel is its front desk reception team. Throughout my stay and across shifts they were excellent and accommodating. No request was too much for them. The hotel being parallel to both the main runways makes for a very quiet stay. It has a fantastic view of one of the runways (should you wish to gaze planes taking/off and land from your bed) or if you prefer city views it has that too. One other major thing to note is that if the hotel is not fully booked they are flexible to do 1/2 day rates(6pm checkout) on the spot after 1 night stay at a reasonable cost which is very helpful for evening/night flights out of LAX.
Shuttle to/Form airport
they charged for Internet access
