High Street, Marlborough, Wiltshire SN8 1LZSituated in the centre of Britain's widest high street, the Castle and Ball has had an interesting past. It occupies a site which has had an inn standing on it since the 15th century. From 1745 to 1763 it was called the Antelope and was renamed The Castle and Ball, which may well have been a misspelling of Castle and Bull, both of which are to be seen on the Borough Arms. Some of the hotel's surviving original oak timbers pre-dates the Spanish Armada.
