The Waldorf-Astoria was everything I expected it to be -- old fashioned elegance with modern amenities and the most attentive staff, from the valets to the front desk to the concierge to the housekeepers in the hallways. Everyone was wonderful. The location was great -- a few short blocks from Rockefellor Center and St. Patrick's and Grand Central and Central Park. I've had family and friends recommend the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, but I definitely preferred the location on Park Avenue -- bagels and coffee and slices of pizza and formal dining of all kinds all within a block or two on the east side. Just perfect.
The air conditioning could have been a little crisper. It felt like it wasn't taking all the humidity out of the air. (Our sheets felt damp. Cool, but damp.) Other than that, I loved every bit of our stay.
Old, dated hotel. Rooms are a bit dumpy. Staff is not friendly

Friendly and helpful staff. Great location for so many different things to explore. This was the perfect spot for our long weekend.
The only thing that would need to be improved would be the stations that are used to connect to the airlines. The software is not user friendly. The front desk manager helped us.
Bar staff very friendly nice to have cabs halied for you great location clean

Very loud - banging outside throughout the night Also, requested a toothbrush kit from housekeeping (front desk told me about it) two times and they NEVERTHELESS brought it up
Great location & staff. Large room for NYC. Comfortable bed. In-room safe large enough for 17" laptop. Nice desk & fridge. Excellent TV unit. Quick valet service for parking. Great value (booking thru Kayak). Nice room key - swipe, no slot.

Close to Times Square, Quiet for location, easy to find, spacious 2-room room
Old, Tub was rusty, outdated
Room was very small for the amount of money i spent per night.Amost every piece of furniture was badly scratched with deep digs included the dresser, night end stand, table, the door had big dig in bottom of door, that someone did a bad job of repairing, grout around tub was falling out. i talked to front desk about them taking a damage deposit. i pointed out all the damage they said they were aware of damage furniture they said damage deposit was if you smoked in the room. i hope this is true i don't want to be charged for damage i did not do. i also took photos, the money i spent per night was not worth a presidential hotel. i was mortify and disgusted would not stay there again very disappointed

I have stayed at this hotel many times. The rooms are tiny but this time they upgraded me to a larger room and it made all the difference. I really appreciated that. But I was surprised to find an additional charge for $20.00 slipped under my door. it was for Spa charges? All the hotels are now doing this. Soon they'll be charging for baggage. It's too bad that hotels are RESORTING to this. No pun intended.
Good location, clean, great staff
Rooms were way to small

Location is fantastic.
I've rated the facilities a 2 because the bathroom is very old and small and definitely need a renovation. There was construction going on, therefore - very noisy with banging etc during the mornings. You need to be out of the room by 8:00 a.m. , we saw and heard the construction crew going up and down the scaffolding next to our bedroom window. Kayak should have noted that there was a construction going on at this hotel.
Great location. Nice staff. They did accomodate us when we complained about the size of the room
Rooms very, very small. Two double beds very close to each other and not one dresser drawer. Bathroom door opens in but not all the way because it hit a shelf. Looked at other rooms, nothing similar to their website. Entire property needs major remodel. Pealing paint, chipped tiles, Old poorly functioning bathroom fixtures. Very old bedding, tattered and wrinkled. Old, stained carpet. Dark, poor lighting. No restaurant or bar (both are bring renovated but we didn't know this until we arrived). This is absolutely NOT a 4 star hotel - barely a 3 star. I travel a lot and almost always use Hotwire and have never disagreed with their star rating. I will not use Kayak again for hotels.

The rooms were dingy. The service was awful. We paid over $500 for the room and we didn't get what we paid for - Queen bed. They first tried to put us in a full bed room and then we had to go downstairs and complain. The rooms looked much better on the site than in "really life". The beds were gross with the blue comforter. The only thing that was nice was the tiny bathroom. I wouldn't stay here again.

Great location, fabulous staff, good amenities.
Old beds, lumpy pillows, dated decor.
Location is good.
The front desk people are not friendly. They hit me with a "Facility Fee" of $30.00 puls tax (daily) no prior explanation from the front desk ( as to what Facility had I used) when I checked out. Poor communication with guests. Luckily I did ask them to waive this charge. They should explain to me on Facilities Fee when I check in!. Poor customer service! Would I come back to this hotel? You guess!

Very good location. Just a block away from subway and lots of little shops to get something to eat or do a little shopping. Very clean room, well furnished and very clean. Bathroom was huge!
I asked for a car service and got a driver that drove way too fast and just wasn't very professional. Not the hotels fault but it was scary.
The stay was excellent and the staff was always very helpful and attentive to my friends and my needs. The location was very good and there is a 24hr market just around the corner.
I didn't like that I had to leave aside from that my stay was exquisite I highly recommend this hotel

We loved the location. We were in New York and we were extremely close to all of the things we really wanted to see while on our vacation. Or if we weren't close, we were a short subway ride away. Beautiful hotel, very clean, and very quiet. We were concerned about the possible noise from the New York streets, but we couldn't hear a peep. It was perfect. And the soaking tub in the bathroom was amazing! I want one in my own home! We were very comfortable.
My husband thought the whole hotel was too dark. Especially the lobby. I would agree to say that the lobby was very dark, but I didn't really mind it. It wasn't like we were going to be spending a lot of time in the lobby anyway. And another thing; every day we left our "Do Not Disturb; sign on our door because when staying in hotels we worry about our things disappearing. But one of the days we came back and our room had been visited by housekeeping, so we quickly looked around to make sure all of our things were accounted for. And thankfully, everything was there. We were happy that the staff was respectful of our things, but we were confused by the fact that the sign was still on the door and they came in anyway.
Fantastic location if tourism is your goal. Atmosphere is glamorous and sexy. Friendly, helpful staff made us feel at ease.
The bathrooms are oddly dark - this is an issue if you are someone who spends any considerable time and effort applying makeup.
