One of the first Regency houses to be built on the seafront in Sidmouth was Walliss Marine Library and Reading Rooms. This was the early nineteenth-century meeting place for Sidmouths fashionable summer visitors. Between 1815 and 1845 the building was enlarged, and by 1865 it had become the Bedford Hotel. Its now a Grade II* listed building and the pride of the Pyne family.Located at the heart of Sidmouths seafront means many rooms boast breathtaking panoramic views across Lyme Bay.
