Koutouloufari is serviced by Heraklion Airport and it is easy to get from the airport to the village via local bus service or taxi. Getting around the village is easy on foot but for travelling elsewhere in Crete public transport is available. The best way to begin a holiday in Koutouloufari is to take a relaxing wander through the historic village streets and enjoy the views of the sea. Head to Agios Vassilios, a stunning church built in 1840, sitting in front of a much older church, some of which is still well preserved. When you want to dip in the clear blue waters, get down to the beaches at Hersonissos. With great facilities, this area is perfect for relaxing in the sun or taking part in some watersports. There are other great beaches at Kokkini Hani, Agios Nikolaos and Elounda. Visitors can take a day trip to the neighbouring village of Piskopiano, another traditional village with panoramic views of the sea. In the evening, choose one of Koutouloufari's many fine eateries located in its winding narrow streets.
