The worst car renting experience I have ever had. 2 hours to get a car, then was given a car that was unsafe and had to be returned, unhelpful agent, and lots of finger pointing (e.g., you should have booked with me directly, not through this 3rd party). I will be speaking with Avis, and I will be working with my credit card to reverse the charges. And, I will likely never book with kayak before because the fact that it was through kayak, which did it through Expedia, and only then with Avis made the process that much more complicated and difficult.

We were a tad bit early, but were still accommodated. The car was dirty ( not vacuumed and not completely full, the time to change oil indicator was on came on day 2 of a 9 day one way reservation, I immediately took the vehicle to a Avis location that was unable to rectify the problem. I contacted Avis and was told if I took the car for an oil change, and turned in my receipt that I would be reimbursed for my out of pocket expenses, I misplaced the receipt so now I'm out even more for something that should have been taken care of prior to renting this vehicle to anyone.

Friendly staff and quick once we got to the counter. This is likely because I listen to the questions the previous customers are asked and I am prepared to respond so I can get to my car quicker. Upon return, we gave the counter staff an unopened half case of water because we obviously couldn’t take it on our flight and the staff couldn’t have more appreciative and thankful. Very polite.

Total cost for car reservation online was $157. Once I picked up the car, there was an unexpected and additional 80Euro charge if crossing a border with the vehicle. This was never mentioned beforehand. Additionally, my credit card was charged 1400Euro deposit, which was also never mentioned anywhere previously. I called Budget customer service and spoke to an agent, who was extremely rude and unhelpful. I will never use Budget again!

The car was excellent and in excellent condition, but there were a lot of hidden fees that the company kept silent about. When choosing a car, the price on the website was $68 for two days, with hidden fees they charged $412 for two days. This is not pleasant, the company must inform customers about hidden fees. I will never go to Budget again because I feel cheated.

I like the rate. I did not like that my insurance card had to be presented because my insurance card lives in my personal vehicle. This was the first time renting a car that my I had to present the insurance card to rent the car. Also I was not happy that the car insurance i paid for on the web site was not accepted by Green Motion. i had to purchase additional insurance to rent your vehicle. I also did not like that once inside the rental facility the line stated "U-Save" and not Green Motion. Please clarify that it is the same agency in the future.

Drivalia offers cars with letter "e" in description. You don't know-it is full electric. To me it is economy. In Italy the infrastructure for electric cars is poor. Also,Drivalia uses Chinese MG small suv hybrid. This is really weird hybrid you don't want to drive. Eats lot of gas and you have to change this hybrid like full electric car. Milano int. Airport does not have good signs to get to rent garage to drop your car.

Picked up the car and it was filthy. Clearly hadn’t been cleaned since being used before. Key intermittently stopped working and were locked out of the car, when trying to open it manually, car alarm would repeatedly go off. Car was not maintained well.

We liked the good value for money, and the car itself was just what we wanted and had no issues. It was not completely clean though when we received it, nor did it come full of fuel- under half a tank. The pick up and collection from the car park was fine and very quick. It was the wait time at the drivalia desk to sign the contract and pay the deposit which took too long. We joined the queue at 10:30am and we’re not at the front until 12:00pm. We were not in a rush but other customers were as they had plans or connections to make.

Sixt charged us a premium site fee at the counter. This was in the small print (the idea of it, not the amount of it). They should put this fee in the quoted price as it was quite high and would have impacted our decision about who to rent from. Location of car return not well marked at Manchester Airport.

I hired a car to be picked up from a hire place at the local airport, phoned the airport to be told there wasn’t any cars available,took two weeks to get a refund after a lot of messing around as there’s three company’s involved,one took the booking,one took the payment and one were I was to pick the car up from,quick enough to take your money so slow sorting problems out finally got there in the end regarding a refund thanks to a lovely lady at the place were I was to pick the car up from.

Pros:

The car was brand new and ran well, getting fantastic gas mileage without being underpowered. Pickup at Liverpool Airport was extremely friendly, no upsell. I like the "fuel option," where they sell you a tank of gas but agree to cancel the sale if you bring it back full. In my case, with a very tight connection at my dropoff, I was grateful to be able to come in empty.

Cons:

Car's handbrake was not adjusted right, so that it would not hold on very steep grades.

Their shuttle never came even though we waited over an hour and a half. We kept calling and after 20-30 min waits in their phone system they assured us the shuttle was on its way. Finally it was approaching closing time so we had to take a Lyft to the company so they wouldn't close on us. They shrugged and said the shuttle guy had gone home half an hour ago. Then it took an hour to get the cars because they were short staffed. Would NOT recommend and will never use again.

It was very difficult to find the shuttle bus and I was wandering around the airport for over an hour, asking other car rental staff and information desks for assistance. The easirent company desk did not answer my phone calls and I began to suspect I was being scammed. I evebtually found the shuttle bus, but when I arrived on site I was a bit nervous that I was going to get scammed. There were a lot of hidden fees that people at the desk only told me about once I was at their location and away from the competition at the airport. For example, if you do not have a return flight confirmation number, there was a $500 uncharge on your rental. I was also given a random car that was available, and not a car that I originally selected when I booked the rental. The people at the desk also refused to give me a receipt for the $200 security deposit hold that was put on my credit card. When I turned in my car 4 days later, they did not issue a receipt, despite my concerns about the deposit hold clearing from my credit line. Given that I was on a time crunch to get to my flight, I believe they knew they had more power to deny me. The rental price was cheaper than the competition, but I believe that the consumer pays for that cost difference in time and risk. Buyers should be wary and ask the company for as much information as possible in advance before booking!

Easirent has separate policies from Kayak that weren’t disclosed. On my booking confirmation (that came through Expedia for some reason), the rental agreement says unlimited miles. When I picked up the car, they said there were limited miles and I would need to pay an additional $25 per day for unlimited miles. I would not have booked through Easirent if their company policy was made clear when I booked. They should not be marketed as unlimited miles on Kayak only to be charged for unlimited miles when you’re picking up the car.

It was horrible. It took them more than an hour even I pre checked. My booking was for a small SUV but I end up having a Kia Forte (a compact sedan). The car was a wreck. No alignment and the car was too noisy. Inside was stained and so dirty that we have to put towels to cover it. I will never ever rent a car from this company. Kayak should delist them altogether. Only good thing was the person who served me, his name is Richard.

as a negative, there was a delay when we were picking up the car, because the staff on duty was insufficient to handle the influx of new renters at that peak time of the day as a negative, i did not know i needed to have details of my personal auto insurance rental policy, in order to decline their insurance - since i was unprepared in that way, i had to pick up the extra insurance, and that greatly increased the effective insurance as a positive, i had a scratch appear on the car (i am not sure how or when) and a small dent in the body (front cornerpanel near hood), and they told me it was considered minor, and there would be not charge or insurance claim - they could have played "hardball" and charged me for it, but they showed moderation and good faith

When we picked up the vehicle, they didn't have the same level of vehicle available that I reserved. Instead of offering a better vehicle at the same rate, they would only downgrade the vehicle without a rate reduction. This downgraded vehicle wasn't going to work for the number people, bags, and adventures into the mountains we planned for. (Which is why we reserved the Rav4.) I was left with the only choice of moving to an upgraded Jeep Grand Cherokee for more money. Once we got into the Jeep GC, we immediately found a pouch filled with pills under the passenger seat. We have no idea what these pills were, but took them into the office. They offered to put us into a different Jeep GC, which we accepted. At this point, they did offer a refund for the upgrade charge, but only after being asked. I was also told that there was an additional $200 deposit that would be returned upon return. The vehicle was returned with half of a tank of gas and no issues, and I did NOT receive the full $200 deposit back, only $167, with no explanation as to why. I paid for the tolls package and only went through two of them. There is no way that was $33. I will not be renting from Ace again. This was not an experience that I care to repeat. As we were dealing with our own issues on the rental, others were also having issues with their rentals. Didn't seem to be a great situation across the board.

-Salesman committed fraud stating insurance was $40 for the duration when it was closer to $50 a day -Salesman committed fraud by implying my insurance does not cover rentals (he's acting inappropriately by hinting knowledge of my personal life....my insurance is not public....and it does cover rentals thankfully....but crossing that customer/business veil is inappropriate conduct and edging on safety concerns... -No handicap accessibility concerns, I am disabled, their disabled stall was closed but when I asked they said it was working, having me walk around the building in pain with my cane to find out it's broken. Not handicap friendly -They did not reserve us the Toyota we requested instead substituting for a Charger GT which consumes more gas and is more inconvenient to park than a smaller Toyota, this business tactic may have been done to increase my chances of scratching the car as I not being used to driving it may be likely to make a scratch or, they may have wanted us to forget about all their surcharges once we filled the GT for $120 then their little fraudulent surcharges seem small in comparison...sunken cost fallacy...disgraceful company...

Had a great overall experience with Arnold Clark except for the pickup. Pickup location at airport is terrible and confusing. After calling and getting direction we finally found it, but then the driver missed us and left us standing in the rain. Had to call a second time to get picked up. Otherwise it was all good.

Our original car, Peugeot 2008 was mechanically faulty. The clutch broke and caused the car the inability to move 15/20 minutes after picking up the vehicle. Lots of smoke etc. We were on a motorway at the time, No verge so a dangerous area to stop, we called recovery and after an hour a tow truck was sent, We returned to our pick point and eventually were given a new vehicle, We are from overseas. This did cause some distress to me ( the driver). Also having to pay £65 to return the car to a different location a half hour away was I thought an unnecessary expense.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
