From packed stadiums across North America to lively sports bars in Europe, the 2026 world football tournament promises to be a memorable experience. KAYAK cracked its data to reveal where Brits can soak up some sun and the event atmosphere on a budget in Europe, and how much it will cost for fans to follow their team from match to match.

Where to holiday in Europe this summer without missing the action.

Not everyone managed to get a ticket to the tournament this year, but you don’t need a stadium seat to experience the buzz.

We looked at the European holiday destinations where Brits are searching to fly during the tournament dates, as well as the factors that matter to football fans: the cost of accommodation, how easy it is to find a pub with a screen, and even the price of a (maybe celebratory) pint. With plenty of destinations in Europe where fans can really get into the spirit of this event, including some great-value options, those travelling on the continent won’t miss out.

🏆 Good for overall value: Málaga strikes the balance.

Málaga is the most well-rounded option, offering affordable flights (£135 on average), cheap beer (£2.60 on average) and a high concentration of sports bars (52%), while keeping accommodation prices reasonable (£122 on average).

🍺 Good for your wallet: Tirana is the cheapest, but with a catch.

Tirana is by far the most affordable destination on the ground, with the lowest hotel prices (£66 on average) and cheapest beer (£2.50 on average). The only drawback is that it has the lowest concentration of sports bars of the top 20 cities, so ensure to find your venue to watch early. .

📺 Good for match viewings: Rome leads by a mile.

Even without Italy in the tournament, Rome is expected to still offer a vibrant football atmosphere. With 62% of venues being sports bars or pubs, fans won’t struggle to find a screen – though beer prices are on the higher end (£4 on average) in our roundup. Higher accommodation costs (£184 on average) may also push up the overall spend.
