KAYAK, the world’s leading travel search engine, is underlining its commitment to sustainable travel by joining forces with Mastercard to help forest restoration.
KAYAK is partnering with Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition, a global reforestation programme that aims to support the planet through the restoration of 100 million trees over five years. Through the partnership in the UK, KAYAK and Mastercard have launched Trees for Trips, a new program that allows travellers to plant a seedling at no extra cost, simply by sharing a flight booking made with their Mastercard.
Speaking about the partnership, Evan Day, UK Country Manager at KAYAK said: “Our research shows that travellers want to be able to make more sustainable travel choices – both when booking and throughout their trips. Trees for Trips is one way we’re doing this, by enabling travellers to help forests grow and thrive as they experience the world. As long as a booking is purchased and paid with a Mastercard and shared with KAYAK Trips, we’ll ensure a seedling will be planted on your behalf.”
To take part, travellers just need to set up a KAYAK account and send their booking confirmation to trips@kayak.com. Once the steps are completed, users will be able to see under their itinerary in ‘Trips’ that their booking has helped restore our planet’s forests.
