Ibiza is known for its superb hotels and relaxing beaches. But what if you don’t want to spend all day long at the beach? Luckily, there’s much more than just beaches on offer. Here we’ve put together our top 5 things to do on the island.
1. Hire a car and discover the island
35 kilometres long, 20 kilometrse wide…it may sound small, but Ibiza packs in a lot to see in that size. Cruise your way to the green in the north or drop by the small villages in southwest. Remember to pack your swimsuit and have a dip along the way at Ibiza’s amazing beaches. Our tip: check out the beach at Cala Olivera – crystal clear water and pure tranquility awaits you.
Suggested route: Start with a loop of the coastal road, then head into the inner island, driving through woodlands to the mountains above – enjoy the view!
2. Try scuba diving
With over 200 kilometres of coastline and situated by the warm, sparkling waters of the Mediterranean, Ibiza is the perfect place to try scuba diving. Check out the underwater prairies of Posidonia in the National Park of Las Salinas, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. Diving is a popular activity in Ibiza and many dive operators offer scuba lessons for beginners. If you’re already a pro, try one of the wreck dives around the island. Our tip: Investigate the wreck of the Don Pedro – the biggest ship wreck in the Mediterranean that’s within recreational dive limits.
3. Party on a boat
Ibiza is known for its world-class clubs and famous DJs – and the dancing doesn’t stop at the water’s edge! Enjoy Ibiza’s party culture on a fully-equipped disco catamaran; sail into the sunset on a luxury boat while sipping on cocktails and dancing your heart out. No Ibiza vacation is complete without the experience of a party boat.
4. Tackle adventure head on with parasailing
It may seem extreme, but there’s no better way to enjoy breathtaking views over the island. Enjoy sweeping panoramas of Ibiza’s mountains, forests and sparkling coastline. Feel the freedom and experience a parasail flight on Ibiza.
5. Rent a scooter and discover Ibiza city
Eivissa or Ibiza Town has everything you need for a great day out in the Mediterranean. Rent a scooter and drive through the narrow streets, discover Ibiza Old Town and check out the mega-yachts at the marina. Make a shopping trip to Ibiza Town or make your way towards the centre of the island, through pine woods and fig, almond and orange groves. You’re sure to find many charming small cafes and restaurants on the way.
