The staff at Schiphol were awful! They were misinformed about what cards they can accept and when this was pointed out to them, they became rude and aggressive. When we asked for the name of the person serving us, he said he was not obliged.

Car was not available although I got a booking CONFIRMATION from Sixt/Kayak. When at the counter, the employee told me it is not a confirmation but merely and "agreement" that the customer can go to the counter. Car proposed was over 2x inital cost. I have NEVER ever had to pay extra when upgraded because the original class was not available and I travel a lot. Insurance was insane at 45 Euro/day. I ended booking with Avis, they had a car and honoured their quote. Not the first time I am having issue with Sixt and will try to stay away from them.

Pros:

The pick up and drop off processes were super fast and friendly. I am not used to driving European cars and they answered a few questions that I felt were...lets say "basic", without making me feel like an idiot. The man at the vehicle return was very nice as well and informed me where the nearest gas station was so that I could fill up and return quickly before my reservation expired and I would have to pay for the gas refill.

Pros:

The pick up agent is slow and unfair. She charged us for 2nd driver without our consent. Also, it took her over one hour to complete the process yet our pick up time started as soon as we talked.

Cons:

The pick up time should be from the time we got the key, not from the time we were at the signing desk.

When I arrived, the car I booked wasn't available. The car they replaced it with was too small for our group, so we were stuck cramped in a tight space and having to shuttle back and forth for our whole trip. I asked for full insurance coverage and only received basic coverage. Now they say there is a small scratch on the bumper and have charged 850 euros to my credit card for the damage. This has been an absolute nightmare.

A better explanation if the charges. We were charged when we picked up the car then again when we returned the car. After a day the charges were sorted and only what we should have been charged was made to our credit card.

The pick up was kinda chaotic, the vehicle was awesome, the return was very chaotic, vehicles were left on a single lane with nobody around to collect the vehicle or anything. We walked all the way back to the counter when we picked up the vehicle, while we were standing there one older gentleman was cleaning the floor and a younger gentleman was trying to get things going and told us he would be right with us. It took him about 10 minutes to get things going and we handed him the paper work and the keys and asked us if there was anyone down stairs, I told him no except a whole row of vehicles. He handed us the paper work back and kept the key and said you're all good. When we arrived in Dublin I've got an email stating that I left the car and didn't handed over the keys and they couldn't move the vehicle. I emailed them back that I got there at 6:30am nobody was down stairs so I walked upstairs and handed over the key. By the time I got back to Los Angeles I received another email stating nobody had the key and could describe the person I handed the key over to, so far I haven't heard back from them, but to that was a pretty strange experience to say at least. The staff were very friendly and the drop off was was also good

Cons:

The car was rubbish - I plugged my phone into the USB to use google maps and it continually crashed and kept reverting back to the existing nav system in the car. Then the USB went dead completely. The drivers window did not close properly and at speed made a noise. When closed it would open again and the same process repeat. I had requested a Golf but got instead a Ford focus...not ideal for German roads...I won't accept this again - I should have been more stern...
