The opening of the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand, in 1862, was overseen by none other than Napoleon III's wife, Empress Eugénie. Over the ensuing decades, the hotel has various royalty, including Tsar Nicholas, King Edward VII of England, and a bit more recently, Queen Rania of Jordan.

A Timeless Classic

Today, the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand is best known for offering superb views of the Paris Opera House and the buskers who perform nightly on its steps. Because the hotel is accustomed to royalty, its staff, from the concierge to housekeeping, go out of their way to accommodate every guest's needs. The in-house restaurant La Verrière, set in a winter garden, is particularly beautiful after dusk falls. The Cafe de la Paix is listed as an official monument; the chef Christophe Raoux's cuisine should not be missed. As befits a historical luxury hotel fully renovated for contemporary guests, a spa and fitness center with a sauna are available on-site. Guests with cars should note that due to the common presence of visiting dignitaries, access to the street in front of the hotel's main entrance is often restricted.

Just Outside

The hotel is steps from the best of luxury Paris, from shopping on the Rue Saint Honoré to the beautiful Place Vendôme. The lush Jardin des Tuileries and the historical church at Madeleine are also in easy walking distance.
