Corfu is one of the Greek Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. It includes various resort towns, such as Messonghi in the southeast. This resort town is located by a river which divides it from the neighbouring Moraitika resort across the river.

Transport for Messonghi Holidays

The nearest airport to Messonghi is situated near the town of Corfu, approximately 21 kilometres (13 miles) to the north of Messonghi. If visiting out of season (November – April), a flight to Athens followed by a domestic flight to Corfu might be required. You can also take boat trips to Corfu from Igoumenitsa. The spring and autumn months are probably the best time to visit Corfu, as the beaches are less crowded during these seasons.

The Beaches in and around Messonghi

The primary beach in Messonghi is Messonghi beach. This is a somewhat narrow beach composed mainly of pebbles. It is a Blue Flag beach with beach chairs and umbrellas available to rent. The beach also offers plenty of water sports such as jet skiing, windsurfing, surfing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Moraitika beach, which includes a mixture of pebbles and sand, is also nearby.

Destinations to Visit During Messonghi Holidays

Visitors to Messonghi should check out nearby Aqualand during their Messonghi holidays. This is one of the largest water parks in Europe and occupies over 75,000 square metres. Another popular activity among holidaymakers is to take a boat trip down the Messonghi river. The boat trips take visitors to caves and the Blue Lagoon beach, which is located on an island in front of Corfu. A few miles away from Messonghi are historic sites such as the Achilleion Palace and gardens, which is located atop a mountain overlooking the sea.
