While it's located on the same stretch of Majorca's southwest coast as some of the island's most popular beaches - Magaluf, Palma Nova and Santa Ponsa - Paguera offers a less 'full on' holiday experience than its better known neighbours. While there are enough watersports and activities to keep visitors of all ages amused during the day and plenty of karaoke bars and clubs to cater to the younger crowd at night, Paguera's overall atmosphere is slightly less hectic than the ever-present hustle and bustle typical of the other resorts. Certainly this is a good balance, as it enables holidaymakers to enjoy a fun beach getaway without making them feel worn out once their holiday comes to an end.
Paguera's location and climate make it the ideal place for Brits to enjoy a beach holiday abroad. Indeed, the fact that Palma Airport is little more than a two hour flight away from London (and transfers to Paguera take just half an hour) means that holidaymakers can be lying on the beach and swimming in the Mediterranean within three hours of leaving Gatwick. Unlike some other places in the Balaerics, Paguera can be enjoyed all throughout the year as the nearby Tramuntana Mountain Chain protects the resort from cold northerly winds, thereby ensuring winter temperatures stay relatively mild.
Holidays to Paguera invariably revolve around the resort's three excellent beaches - Playa Tora, Playa La Romana and Playa Palmira - each of which is linked to the others by a restaurant-lined promenade that affords stunning views and pleasant walks. Away from the sand, holidaymakers can take excursions to view the region's marine life aboard a glass-bottomed boat, watch the yachts of the rich and famous at nearby Port d’Andtrax and enjoy some high-quality shopping and sightseeing in Palma, the island's capital.
