How to get from the airport to the city centre?

Abu Dhabi Airport is 17 miles (25 minutes by car) from the centre of Abu Dhabi. The cost of a taxi ride is around £25.

There are a few bus services that leave from the airport. The most efficient service is the A1 Bus Line, the major airport bus service between airport and city. This bus operates 24/7 and takes you to the City Air Terminal (bus stop) in the city.

Additionally, car hire services are a good alternative if you have a valid driving licence.

 

 

Currency

The local currency is the UAE dirham (AED or Dhs). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, and foreign currencies can be exchanged in licenced exchange offices, banks and hotels with a valid passport.

Cars

Abu Dhabi is easily accessible from many other nearby cities by ship or, more commonly, by car. It only takes about 1 hour to reach Abu Dhabi from Dubai and less than 2 hours from Al Ain. If you have your own car and want to visit Abu Dhabi, you can get there in 8 hours from Bahrain and 5.5 hours from Qatar.
If you have a valid driving licence, car hire services can be a great way to reach Abu Dhabi by car.
