But after flying an average of 8 and a 1/2 hours and making your way through US passport control the last thing you want to do is mess around trying to figure out how the hell you get from the airport you landed at (there are 3 very different possibilities) to the city proper. How to get to New York from John F. Kennedy International Airport
By Public Transport
The Cheaper Way: Airtrain JFK ($5/£4) + Single subway ride ($2.75/£2.20) = $7.75 (£6.25) in total
Duration: 60-75 minutes to Penn Station
The Faster Way: Airtrain JFK ($5/£4) + Long Island Rail Road ($7.25/£6.25 [morning] or $10/£8 [evening]) = $12.25 (£9.85) or $15 (£12)
Duration: 40 Minutes to Penn Station
How to get to New York from Laguardia Airport
By Public Transport
Laguardia Airport Shuttle: $15 (£12) one-way, $28 (£23.50) round-trip, runs from 06:00-23:30, every 30 minutes, WiFi on board.
Duration: 60 minutes to Penn Station
Bus + Train: $2.75 (£2.20) – Free transfer from bus to train with MetroCard
Option 1: The Q70 bus goes non-stop to 61st/Roosevelt Avenue in Queens, where you can connect with five different subway lines, or you can connect to LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) for +$5 (£4) to Penn Station. Both options are about 60 minutes.
Option 2: The M60 bus goes to Harlem and connects to all the major subway lines in Manhattan.
How to get to New York from Newark Liberty International Airport
Cost: $55-65 (£44.50-32.50) metered fare
Duration: 40-60 minutes to Penn Station
Train: $18.50 (£14.90): Airtrain Newark ($5.50/£4.40) + NJ Transit Rail ($13/£10.50) (Northeast Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line) to Penn Station
Duration: 30-40 minutes to Penn Station
Bus: $16 (£12.90) One-Way, $28 (£23.50) Return, Newark Airport Express, leaves every 15 minutes
Duration: 40-50 minutes to Penn Station
