The best Christmas Markets in Stockholm
1. Skansen, Stockholm’s most historic Christmas market

Address: Skansen,115 21 Stockholm, Sweden
Dates 2025: Late November to late December, specific dates TBC
The best Christmas market in Stockholm to experience a historical feel is Skansen, as this market dates back to 1903.
The Skansen Christmas market is held in Bollnästorget, where around 70 market stalls are filled with everything from marzipan to wool crafts. When hunger strikes, you can indulge in everything from sweet to savoury treats.
It’s one of my favourites because, in addition to strolling around the market, you can see how Christmas was celebrated in the past. Skansen’s Christmas market is not just a place for shopping; it’s a journey through time, where traditions and magic unite in a unique atmosphere.
2. Stortorget, Sweden’s oldest Christmas market

3. Sigtuna, perfect for a winter day trip

The market is located at Stora Torget, along Stora Gatan, and outside Sigtuna Stadshotell. In addition to markets and food, Sigtuna offers music! The market has a full programme of Christmas music, from choir singing to Lucia processions. Why not stay overnight at the charming Sigtuna Stadshotell, built in 1909, to fully experience the town?
4. Taxinge Slott, Sweden’s largest Christmas market

Address: Taxinge Castle, Näsby 52,155 93 Nykvarn, Sweden
Dates 2025: TBC
Taxinge Slott hosts an annual Christmas market with over 130 of the country’s best craftsmen, making it Sweden’s largest Christmas market. In fact, the market is so large and ambitious that it’s referred to as a Christmas fair (Julmässa) by the organisers and has an entrance fee of 100 SEK (around £7).
No Christmas market would be complete without food, and at Taxinge, you can both shop for and sample festive delicacies. When your sweet tooth calls, Taxinge’s famous cake buffet, the largest in Sweden, is ready for you.
You can easily spend a full day at Taxinge Slott, built in 1803 with medieval roots. As darkness falls, fires and torches light up both the castle and the Christmas market, creating a cosy atmosphere.
5. The Farmer Christmas Market, a small-scale Stockholm Christmas Market

Bondens Christmas market is where you’ll experience a rustic, countryside Christmas with lots of charm – right in the heart of the city.
6. Herrängens Gård Christmas Market, A market at a 1700s manor

There are also many stalls offering knitted goods, jewellery, art, home decor, ceramics, children’s books, driftwood art, and leather crafts. Children can enjoy a fun fishing pond all weekend and have a chance to meet Santa, who collects wish lists in his workshop. If you’re in the mood for a snack, there’s a well-stocked, Christmas-decorated café on the grounds that stays open throughout the market.
7. Beckman’s Christmas Market, for unique gifts

Each year, the majestic Stenladan from the 1800s in Steninge Slottsby opens its doors and invites you into a wonderful Christmas world. Steninge Slottsby is an indoor Christmas market with a warm festive atmosphere.
Everything is gathered under one roof, where you can chat with artisans and explore everything from handmade gifts, wreaths, and flowers to beautifully decorated Christmas items – without having to brave the cold! Stenladan also has several regular shops that, of course, offer special Christmas displays during the market. If you need a break, you can treat yourself to a freshly baked saffron bun, or two, at the cafe.
