Prices are average price per night of stay and may not include taxes and fees. "Total" includes our estimate of the taxes and fees. Please verify the total cost on the provider's site before you complete your reservation. Prices and availability are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tonnes of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car hires can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.

More questions or if you have a bad price to report to us
Please send us an email and someone from our team will get back to you promptly.

Chicago

From the heights of its gleaming skyscrapers to the depths of its dive bars, Chicago covers the full gamut of attractions. Lying alongside sparkling Lake Michigan, steaming hot in summer and freezing cold in winter, Chicago has always forged ahead in arts, culture and industry. Give yourself plenty of time, then give in completely to all that this attractive city offers.

Discovering Downtown

Bike along the waterfront and take in the city’s famous skyline. You can start at Navy Pier, (or avoid it completely), sure it’s a tourist magnet, but it has an undeniably lovely view out across the lake - particularly from the ferris wheel. Bike south through sprawling Grant Park, stopping off at Millenium Park on the way. Here there’s an outdoor ice skating rink in winter, while in summer, free concerts show on a huge stage. It’s also where you’ll see Cloud Gate (fondly called ‘the Bean’), renowned British artist Anish Kapoor’s first public outdoor work in the United States. Inspired by liquid mercury, the polished steel, kidney bean-shaped sculpture reflects the skyline and the curious gazes of its onlookers. Continue south and you’ll arrive at the Art Institute of Chicago which houses one of the finest art collections in the world; over 300,000 works encompassing art, design, architecture and photography, and ranging from Old Masters to American art.

The World in a city

While you’ll never run out of things to do downtown, take time to explore other districts too. Chicago has a huge Polish population, so if you’re craving pierogies head to the community’s epicentre in Portage Park. Funky Wicker Park, to the west of downtown, is packed with independent shops, quirky book and record stores and tasty cafes. Nearby Paseo Boricua is the vibrant, staunchly Puerto Rican district, its main street marked at each end by huge Puerto Rican steel flags. At night head to the Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, famously where Al Capone and his henchmen used to hang out in the 1920s, it’s now a top jazz and blues venue. Top off your night with a quintessential Chicago snack: deep-dish pizza.

Where to stay and getting around

To be in the centre of the city’s buzz, stay in Chicago’s Downtown and the Loop. For a contrast from the modern skyscrapers, head north over the Chicago River to the old part of town, with its leafy streets and 19th century villas. Lincoln Park draws the crowds for its attractions including Lincoln Park Zoo, North Avenue Beach, and Wrigley Park - home to the Chicago Cubs baseball team.

Chicago is laid out in an easy grid pattern and easy to navigate on foot. The eight ‘L Train’ lines connect visitors to most destinations. The blue line, linking the airport to downtown and the red line, running between the north and south of the city, are open 24 hours. Buses and taxis can be found throughout the city while affordable water taxis connect many of the main tourist spots.
