New ridiculous policy by american destroyed my allegiance to american. As a million miler with american, I expected it would be easy to get on an earlier flight when I got to airport earlier than expected, and save a five hour layover. WRONG. The online app would not let me switch flights, So I called, and was promised a call back in 90 minutes. HAH! The customer service desk at DCA said “we no longer have access to changing a flight on our screens. If the app couldn’t do it, I should send a letter to American, but there’s nothing else possible!”
lounge was the highlight - seats weren't that comfortable - it was a full flight but no complaints
Overall, from checking in bags to getting on plane, not enough employees to be able to get all on the plane, therefore I was not able to get on the plane, due to no one wea there for me to check in my bag, so I decided to go thru the security point and by the time they were done with my bags, I was told that my bag cannot be checked in, and then found out that the lady that does the check in was boarding the customers onto the plane, she said that she was going back and fourth, there for was not able to get on the plane, which changed all my flights by the time I got to Dallas, I was on standby 3 times, and wasn't sure about being able to get on the fourth plane, so ended up buying another plane ticket, so I could make my destination on time.
Gate change was a little tough but it was a good flight otherwise
We appreciated that the AA agent at the check in desk was aware that we might not make our connecting flight from Liberia to Miami due to delays. He immediately got us on an earlier flight, which meant less time in the airport and the ability to catch our flight home. Without him, we might had to spend a night in Miami, which we could not do due to work schedules once we got home. This action is what made this flight sequence excellent.
I don’t like paying for food, but I understand why!!
Both flights were delayed. One by an hour and the other by 1 1/2 hours after boarding.
It was a short flight, there wasn’t entertainment unless you log into air wifi. Other than that it was good.
