KAYAK Surpasses One Billion Queries in the First 10 Months of 2012

KAYAK-BlogArt-OBQ-600x200-O2-v1In less than one year, we’ve processed over one billion queries (user requests for flight, hotel, car rental and other travel information on our sites and mobile apps).

To put that number in perspective, it took us over four years to achieve our first billion queries in 2008 and another three years (2009-2011) to process two billion more. Needless to say it’s quite a milestone for us to be surpassing the billion-query mark by October of this year.

Why should you care (besides sharing the warm feeling it creates for us)? Simply put the more people who conduct travel searches through KAYAK, the better our search results. Our scientists use scale in travel search to improve the speed, accuracy and relevance of our query results.

By the way, our  mobile apps have also been downloaded over 20 million times as of October. We’re excited about that number too. Sincere thanks to the vacationers and business travelers who use KAYAK every day. We promise to keep working tirelessly to make it easier to plan and book your travel.
