FAQs - booking Ecuador flights

  • I would like to work online during the trip. Is this possible with an international flight?

Most airlines have updated their Wifi policy to include onboard Wifi on long-distance flights. British Airways, American Airlines, KLM, Air France, Virgin and others are all confirmed. You can begin working as soon as the cabin staff gives you the go-ahead.

  • Which airlines offer suitable disability assistance?

You will find that professional airlines all now make disabled passenger assistance a high priority. Whether you have hearing, visual, cognitive or mobility disabilities, you can be guaranteed you will receive great help. Book at least 48 hours beforehand for wheelchairs and embarking assistance. You will receive onboard help with your meals and bathroom breaks as well as disembarking assistance. British Airways and American Airlines take pride in their disability policies.

  • When I arrive in Ecuador, will I be able to get medical assistance at Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO)?

If you are feeling ill when you arrive in Ecuador, you can contact the Airport Medical Center, based at the airport. They are linked with Hospital de los Valles, which handles any medical emergency considered too serious for the airport's medical staff.

  • I am using Mariscal Sucre International Airport as a stopover. Will I be able to sleep at the airport?

The airport has a friendly tolerance for in-transit sleepers and will allow rest in the common areas with no disturbance. Unfortunately, the airport does not provide designated sleeping pods or rest zones, so you may find this busy South American airport quite noisy. If you are in for a long stopover, hotels are available on site to provide some restful, undisturbed sleep.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from London to Ecuador?

Top tips for finding a cheap flight from London to Ecuador

  • Morning departure is around 14% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • When planning a flight from London to Ecuador, you will have at least three major London-serving airports to leave from. Heathrow (LHR) is also one of the oldest airports in the world and one of the largest in Europe. It is based centrally, which helps you avoid lengthy ground transportation, and is equipped to get you on board fast and efficiently.
  • If you choose to fly from either Heathrow, Gatwick (LGW) or London City Airport (LCY), you will find that any Ecuador flight will include at least one stop. You would benefit from stocking up on entertainment, snacks and other travel comforts from some of the great shops found in the duty-free areas at all three airports. Heathrow has a very wide selection, but both Gatwick and London City Airport will offer all you need.
  • Take advantage of some of the premier lounges before your flight to Ecuador, and relax in Club Aspire, Be Relax or Plaza Premium lounges of Heathrow Airport. If you’re flying from Gatwick, you can enjoy North Terminal Plaza, No. 1, The Gateway Lounge and Clubrooms.
  • Visit your local travel clinic to check what inoculations are required or recommended for Ecuador. Typhoid, Yellow Fever and the Tdap combination vaccine are often required for visas, amongst others.
  • Many professional airlines service this route. If you are looking for airlines that complete the journey in a shorter time, look at Iberia Airlines, KLM and British Airways. They have a one-stop journey that averages between 14h and 20h flying time, as opposed to the much lengthier alternatives.

The flight was again delayed for more then 2 hours with some lousy explanation regarding the reason of the delay. Although the flight was delayed for more than 2 hours, no refreshments were offered (according to EU regulations). Last 4 flights on KLM - always at least 2 hrs late. So be prepared that you cannot plan anything with KLM.

I thought KLM was the best airline but the Lima - Amsterdam was 1 hours late, the Brussels - Amsterdam was 2.30 hours late and the Amsterdam - Lima was 30 minutes late

no issues at all... Kudos to the food. This time was really really good

The worst airline. Cancelled flight 30 min before boarding and rebooked on flight after 3 days.

It was nice to be on a legacy airline, people try at least.

I travel frequently. The flight was late again... KLM should really try and be on time

The flight itself it was great nice food the crew were very nice and helpful, Checking in from Birmingham wasn't great long queues for bag dropped, And I had my hand luggage case taken away from me even though I requested to have it with me as I had breakables items. I was told I can not because of the length of the flight with no explanation at all no options was given for me to take my fragile items out of my case it was taken away with hold buggage I find the staff member who was checking me in very unpleasant !! Can we please be advise if the rules have changed about the the carry on hand luggage it will be easier to be advise on booking your tickect if we not allowed to take the hand luggage with me. Overall I had a good flight .

The food quality is poor. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The entertainment program was limited. I experienced a delay of 30 minutes due to two issues. Passenger luggage had to be removed and there was a technical issue with the stairs not detaching from the aircraft. The pilot managed to compensate and we arrived only 15 minutes later. The luggage at Dubai airport was very slow. I waited over an hour.

I requested wheel chair assistance , it was confirmed via email that inwoood get it but I didn’t get it . The last leg of my trip to Nigeria was the worst.

All and all pretty good. It’s crowded but that is what flying is all about. But no complaints otherwise.

All good- I love BA and the professionalism of the crew and pilots.

Great flight- smooth, nice crew, nice clean aircraft, departed a little late but arrived 10 early.

It was listed on my ticket as Finnair but there was no indication that the flight was Finnair. In fact the number was even different. There were no employees there until exactly 2 hours before so we had to wait in line at Iberia and hope

Sorting on line would have been appreciated Onward information on flights missed No ability to get seating arranged before we got to gate Very unfriendly at gate

The flight was Finnair but there was no indications anywhere that the checkin was for Finnair also. There was no one to ask. I think at a minimum they should list the code shares so people don’t stand in the wrong line for an hour.

I booked the flight with Finnair, which made the arrangements for downloading a boarding pass unnecessarily complicated. I wouldn't do that again. Instead I'd book direct with AA.

Had a nice flight to London on BA will fly with them again in the future

Finnair cancelled my flight 12 hours prior to leaving for Helsinki. They stated there were mechanical problems. I had to scurry around to find a new flight that would meet my needs for arrival in Helsinki. Luckily I was able to find alternate transportation through Lufthansa/United.

I’m very disappointed, to fly into an airplane for 10 straight hours, and not having a TV even though when I put the ticket I was told that I will have entertainment for the TV. Very disappointed.

Helpful steward. Allowed me to move to some empty seats and I was able to get some sleep. He also had milk for my tea. Americans don’t realise that cream or half and half ruin tea.

I expected the plane to be as the one I took from manaos to Bogota and unfortunately it wasn’t as nice, the sits didn’t recline and there was not onboard entertainment.

No water for a 5 hour flight entertainment not working seats with little room for knees when person in front of me reclined kept bumping my knees.

More than 3 hours of delay and not even a snack was given.

I don't think anyone actually reads these comments, so I won't spend much time on this submission. If you want to talk, you know how to reach me. The D/FW manager of Avianca (self-identified), Juan Calderon, insisted I buy an onward ticket from San Salvador even though I have diplomatic status in El Salvador and live here. It cost me $1,393 and Mr Calderon would not let me make the ticked flexible so I could get a refund. He went out of his way to be rude to me. He gave me seat 32K -- windowless window seat in the last row and did not offer to let me upgrade even though there were plenty of seats. I have flown well over a million miles in my life and this is the worst experience I have ever had. I would like a refund on the ticket I was forced to buy. Just awful!

Avianca flights to Galapagos and back and well organized and on time.

This is the Spirit of Latino travel. And don’t even get me started on customer service.

No comfort at all. You should add at least 1 meal or a bottle of water. I wanted to buy one sandwich and everything was gone.

My experience was amazing! They helped my elderly mother board on early through a wheelchair and were accommodating to have us sit together since our seats were in different locations. When landing at the airport in GUA they were very helpful with full of hospitality.

I flew with my service dog unfortunately they didn’t allow it to flight on the canine, but ok, the only problem was that when I arrived to Quito it took 1 hour to deliver my dog, they were supposed to deliver it the moment we get off the airplane.

No complimentary snacks food, beverage (not even water), pillow and blanket on a 6 hours long flight (including economy comfort). A low form of nickeling an diming. Lost a recurring passanger over a soda. Avianca never again.

Fast check in, easy to navigate, crew were very good, the plane was delayed due to a previous flight and I found the cleanliness a little lacking but overall it was fine

I would not fly with BA again. Packed in like sardines, constant request to turn down air conditioning due to freezing cold for hours and the food was pretty to look at but tasteless!

I’m hoping for WiFi included. Everything else was very good

An average flight experience. For our transatlantic portion, they provided a main meal and two snacks. However, the food was not very tasty and the drinks far too small and infrequent for such a long flight. The regrettable part of the flight was that the toilets were extremely filthy. I feel this is unacceptable.

Pros: they tried to accommodate bc they forgot my gluten free meal Negatives: The flight was freeeeeezing Iberia didn’t communicate my gluten free meal

This flight was a code share for both Iberia and American Airlines and run by what I assume is a charter company Level. It was difficult if not impossible to get a seat assigned, check bags or use any customer service functions. I would skip it!

Appalling! The flight was delayed by 3.5 hours and the American Airlines staff at the airport where nit very helpful. Once boarded, the flight crew were unhelpful, the food was poor and the aircraft was tatty.

The entertainment system got stuck in the ABBA music channel. The headsets were not loud enough. My pre purchased aisle seat was not honoured

Late boarding. Delayed departure leading to rushed connection at Madrid Barajas. Not necessarily Iberia's fault but delay loading cargo didn't help.

Everything was fantastic except the Iberia website and app… they left a lot of questions and induced much stress. But once on the plane, all was awesome.

The flight was on time and the crew very professional. Everything went as expected and I will use BA again for this trip.

We paid to have overhead carry-on baggage. When we got to the gate we were told that our carry on bags would need to be checked and go below because the flight was full. Notably we were nowhere near the last people to board and about 30 other passengers also had to check their carry-on bags. Other than that the flight was fine.

Very bad plain although I paid A business class ticket I was stuck in a stiff fixed seat without any entertainment or Wi Fi for 5 hours I will never ever book a flight on British airline.

Self check in Kiosk did not recognize that I had prepaid for my luggage. This caused a 40 minute delay even though I had my British Airways email receipt for the prepaid luggage.

Crew were very friendly and helpful. They explained to us in detail the delay in our takeoff due to the storm that rolled in from Belfast and did their best to make up the time. Always great to fly BA!

Staff were very helpful. The free WiFi for messages was also very useful to keep in touch

Crew was more interested on looking at their phones than welcoming passengers during boarding.

The crew was very attentive and kept busy serving a variety of treats!

Terrible. Missed my flight to final destination because of delayed British Airways flight. Had to spend 12 hours in airport and $1500 for new plane tickets

The crew on board were all very pleasant and happy to help. The flight had the old business class seats. The departure board in the business lounge did not update and kept on saying ' gate open' but never said boarding. When I got nervous about the departure time and walked to the gate I was told off rudely for being late.
