Cool upper Manhattan neighborhood, near CUNY and down the street from the Alexander Hamilton house, fairly easily accessible by the C train. Friendly staff.

Poorly marked entrance, took me a while to get someone to come to the door.

Everything was great! Staff was great, sent a car for me at the airport, clean and modern rooms with flat screen and comfy bed.

The neighborhood wasn't the best but then again, it's Queens. So I'd say about average for Queens.

It was cheap and close to the subway stop. The rooms were interesting. We got there too late for the beach party but the area has a very hipster vibe to it. It's close to the beach.

The bathrooms are not in the room. There are no TV's, but that's not a big issue for me.

What a great hotel. We were so pleased. The room was very clean, comfortable...loved the large bathroom. Location was perfect. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. With the parking garage right next door parking was not an issue.

We were so pleased with this hotel...we will definitely be returning next time we head to NYC...location was perfect, close to the subway & LIRR. Room exceeded our expectations..large, very clean, comfortable beds. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was not an issue since there is a garage right next door. We will definitely be making this our hotel for any stay in NYC...would highly recommend.

Location, Location, Location.

For the price and location I can't say anything I didn't like.

The staff here was very kind very accommodating. Sure it needs amenities, the walls are fairly thin and it's a hostel not a hotel its definitely not luxurious but it is very nice and well maintained and it has what you need. You have to understand for the price you're paying to stay in this hotel and the location where you will be it is MORE than adequate - I mean you are staying in the center of Manhattan. Subway is literally on the corner, there is a theater next door and many more all around (It is Broadway obviously)Great eats all around and close. The room itself was very clean and they have a mini-fridge and many safes below the beds which was cool. The good breakfast was icing on the cake. Thumbs up and definitely will be staying here again soon.

Location and price were absolutely fantastic

Even though its a lot less then the next place, its still a lot for a room (just NYC prices...)....the water took a while to get hot

This is a hostel, not a hotel. No TV, no phone, no room service. Just a clean room with beds and a private bathroom. Perfect location, 1 block from times square. If you want to see NYC for a lot less then the next place, come here. If you want to sit in a hotel room instead of visiting the sights, well then you really should go elsewhere. Oh yeah, bring soap and stuff....

Great location - it is away from the craziness/noise of Times Square, which is the only other area of Manhattan that I have stayed in.

No

I am not familiar with NYC hotels and picked the Library Hotel because it was highly rated on TripAdvisor. I was extremely pleased with the hotel and would stay there on future visits. Great location, free from the noise of Times Square. Clean and comfortable rooms - with plenty of counter/desk and mirror space for my wife to apply makeup and get ready in the mornings (the lack of space is something that bugs her the most about staying at hotels). 2nd floor lounge is comfortable and provides excellent continental breakfast food in the mornings, snacks during the day and wine/cheese in the late afternoon/early evening. Rooftop lounge is a great place for a nightcap. Staff was attentive to all of our needs. We had dinner at the Madison & Vine Restaurant and enjoyed it very much.

I have been wanting to stay at the Library Hotel ever since they opened and just got the chance due to a very reasonable discounted rate ($300 for a queen room) over the Christmas holiday. They did not disappoint! \nPROS: 1. Fabulous staff - not just one or two but every single one. They were courteous, helpful and completely approachable in a friendly but not pushy way. Owners - you have one terrific staff - be nice to them! 2. The absolutely ingenious idea of a hotel based on the Dewey decimal system. It was very cool! 3. The free (yes free) continental breakfast, snacks, wine and cheese that are available to all guests in the beautiful 2nd floor lounge. I I had not a penny of additional charges on my bill when I checked out. I can't remember the last time that happened. So when you think the rate is too expensive don't forget to account for the free stuff. 4. Rooms were beautiful although small, remember this is NY. My daughter and I had a queen room and it was just big enough. 5. L...

only one plus you can name is a parking included

location, neighborhood, staff,room, cleanness

First of all we choose this hotel based on a review but our experience was different: location of this hotel was scary ,receptionist did not speak or understand much English,we need to put $20 deposit for a key and remote control which was not working anyway. Our room was very small, bed is very firm , neighborhood and AC both are very noisy. The bathroom was very dirty , sink was congested . A worst hotel ever we had stayed.

Spacious rooms compared to Manhattan hotels

Some of the clientele were just trashy. There was a couple making out in the lobby right when you walked in at night granted the hotel does have a rooftop lounge that the locals treat as trashy Queens club, but it was a Sunday night, and the lounge was closed so you can't blame it on the alcohol. Room designer seemed to be obsessed with positioning fixtures in the upper right hand corner, which is ok I guess with certain things but not lighting fixtures. And last time I checked an electrical outlet should be by the sink, not above the toilet bowl, unless they consider there guests really hardcore multi-taskers that can shave and blow dry whilst...well you know

The location to get to downtown Manhattan was great. You can take the tunnel or the bridge and get there relatively quickly. When I asked for the car service, the car was on time and the driver very courteous (I used them every day for a week). The Rooftop view of the Manhattan skyline is terrific. I felt the hotel was very secure and safe.

Did not like my room. I stayed in 106 which is on first floor right outside the elevator and main hall (room 105 is also located there). They have recently added a second door inside the room to help keep down the outside noise but it did little good between 5am and 9am each morning. The hotel has obviously had complaints about the noise or they would not have added the interior door with a sign as to why the door was there (noise). The elevator doors were constantly opening/closing and the cleaning staff were busy getting their carts to each of the other floors to begin maid services. Not to mention the numerous people coming down to get to breakfast and the chatter. The room itself was dirty and was in desperate need of a paint job. I realize they saved the top renting units for the top buyers but for what I did pay (which was not cheap) I was greatly disappointed. As I stated in the pro's of the hotel, the rooftop view was incredible, but they have little to no seating to enjoy the skyline unless you want to sit in the covered restaurant, which greatly obscures the views. They had closed off the very top seating area on top of the restaurant the second night I was there. When I asked the hostess why, she had no reason to give and eventually allowed me to sneak up there to enjoy the night views and relax but made sure to close off the stairway access behind me so that no one else would go up there.

Prices are average price per night of stay and may not include taxes and fees. "Total" includes our estimate of the taxes and fees. Please verify the total cost on the provider's site before you complete your reservation. Prices and availability are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tonnes of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car hires can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.
