Staff was professional and friendlyThe one way charge was very expensive - cost more than the 10 day rental

Excellent car (VW Passat)/condition. Great gas mileage. Roads good, easy driving. Sixt employees all spoke very good English....Drop off at Vilnius Airport was problematic because there was no one in the office at 7:45 am, we weren't able to reach anyone by phone, and we couldn't figure out where to leave the car before our flight. Frustrating. Luckily, the flight wasn't until 9 and the young lady was in the office at 8...

You said 91 euros and they charged me 235 !!!!!

Hidden costs turned a 50 euro rental into a 150 euro rental. Had a much better experience with sixt last time I rented a car in Europe.

Staff at the desk was very helpful. Car was clean and great. Would rent there again when I come back.A bit confusing at the drop off area, maybe bigger signs or explained when you pick up. I told the young man (in a nice way) at drop off area it was a little confusing and his response was "that is not my fault"!!

Budget does not have an office at the terminal D of the Tallinn port! There is HUGE mistake on the websides of Kayak... Pick up was very stressfull and unpossible to make. Nobody pick the phone number mentioned in our reservation. We had to take a shuttle to go to the airport, then it was easy, but in case that we order a car with pick up at the ferry terminal and receive confirmation with these informations, we should get a car there, not at the airport.

We got a great little car at a very reasonable price and were very happy with the service. We can’t do better than that.

car rental from hellnothingThe car was not at my pickup point, i had to get a taxi to go to he airport to pick it up after ringing the agent to find out what was going on.The car was unwashed.bird poo on the door, empty bottles at the rear. When i return itthe agent went straight to the front wheel and show me a very faint scratch on the hub cap and refuse to release my bond.He later on charge me on my credit card more than 400euros supposetly for repair. I have been in dispute with them ever since. They spoilt my holiday.Would not recommand them to anyone even to my worsr ennemy, that will be too cruel.

It doesn't work! Because their office in Tallinn is closed few years ago and you still sell their offers!

Don't rent in EstoniaCar was clean and the staff were super friendly. If your country is not a signatory to the 1968 Vienna driving conventions, (most of North/South America) you will have to pay an extra fee per day or get an international drivers license (1st time this has ever happened to me in 10 years of renting cars in Europe). If you want to drive out of Estonia, another daily fee. Basically, rental ended up being 2x what Kayak quoted. Keep this in mind before you book in Estonia. Again, staff nice and car good, but outrageous fees.

Never found the pick-up agency and they do not answer the phone. First and last time with Kayak, next time I will deal directly with the rental car company.

Car hire excess insurance in Tallinn

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) & Theft Protection Waiver

Collision damage waiver and theft protection are insurance options that cover renters from paying high penalty fees if the car is stolen or returned damaged. Some Tallinn car providers already include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection Waiver into the rental price but not all of them. We recommend always be aware of your coverage when renting a car in in Tallinn.

Deductible

Keep in mind that car hire excess insurances often have a deductible clause, which is the amount you’ll have to pay if something happens during the time of your rental. If you want to avoid unwanted surprises, you should consider adding a no-deductible option to your Tallinn car rental.

Top tips for renting a car in Tallinn

  • The capital city of Estonia, Tallinn is a cultural and technological hub in the Baltic region. It has excellent local transportation links, but none of them offer you the pure freedom and flexibility of car hire in Tallinn. With your own vehicle you can access many villages and towns off the beaten track, like Liiva on Muhu Island, 93 miles south-west via Rt 9/10, or Narva, 130 miles east via E20.
  • Lennart Meri Tallinn International Airport (TLL) is about 2 miles from the city centre. Not only is this the most practical air transit hub in terms of proximity, it also presents the opportunity for you to get your car hire in Tallinn and drive to your accommodation. There are several providers at the airport such as Avis, Sixt and NU Car, which can all furnish you with a vehicle upon request. The car hire centre is located inside the Ground Transportation terminal near the long-stay car park.
  • There are three national roads (T2, T4 and T8) travelling through the city centre and you can expect all three to experience traffic congestion during the morning and evening rush hours. Since the Old Town is pretty much closed to vehicular traffic, anticipate heavy pedestrian and cycle traffic in this area (around Toompea Castle and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral). As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Old Town is a massive tourist draw, so the peak summer months from May to August will witness dramatic increases in overall traffic patterns across the city.
  • You can expect major traffic congestion from 07:00 to 09:00 and again from 18:00 to 21:00 in key downtown areas. For example, the circular formed by Routes 2 and 8 near Taamsaare Park (east), the Route 4/8 interchange at the site of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (south), and the T8 cross-change near the Kaitsepolitseiamet are all major junctions connecting trunk roads to points beyond the city limits. You should also expect a busy period between 13:00 and 15:00 when sightseeing and shopping downtown are at their peak.

  • The legal speed limit within urban districts in Tallinn is about 50km/h (30mph) and driving through rural areas the limit is 90km/h (55mph). During the summer when primary roads and highways are free of ice, motorists can drive at speeds between 110 and 120km/h (65mph to 75mph). During the frigid winter months it is imperative to observe posted signs for your own safety and that of your fellow drivers. It is likely that electronic monitoring equipment will be in use, which is further reason to drive with caution when on the road.

  • In Tallinn the average price for a litre of petrol is about €1.24 (£1.10), while the average price for a litre of diesel is about €1.05 (£0.95). There are about 20 refuelling locations within the city precincts. Since most of them lie some distance outside the downtown area, it’s recommended you fill up your Tallinn car hire before or after roadtrips.

  • The City of Tallinn offers on-street paid parking in four zones. Within Tallinn city centre it costs about €1.50 (£1.30) per hour, within the Old Town around €6 (£5.25) per hour, within the downtown area about €4.80 (£4.20) per hour, and in Pirita (beach and recreational parking) around €0.60 (£0.55) per hour. These are mostly pay-and-display zones where the first 15min is always free (unless you’re in a private car park). Parking is free anywhere else in the city unless otherwise restricted. The hours of operation vary by location but are generally from 07:00 to 19:00, Monday to Friday, with some car parks open 24h a day. It is advisable to read all relevant signs before you leave your car.
