What a disaster!!!

Pros: Not much

Cons: - they tried to reject my insurance provided by my credit card. This would have doubled the cost of the rental and made me think about going by train or Uber. - they wasted more than half an hour making me call my credit card company who eventually told them that the coverage was what they needed - they have me a smaller car than I was expecting - the agents attitude was aggressive and pushy : she had been trained to be that way I believe to make me pay for insurance. It's a scam. Do not believe the low rates advertised.

UK rental

Pros: Glad we went with a Intnlly known company where they treated you respectfully and didnt nickel and dime you. Reps on both sided were very pleasant and only added to our experience. Line for pick up in Edinburgh was 30 mins long and build in extra time for drop off in London bc of traffic.

Pros: We got a quite new and clean car

Cons: very, very long waiting time in queue (90min+), staff is friendly but tries to sell fuel options, insurances... needless things which prolong the waiting time and you have chosen already online.

Check you car

Cons: Check your car before you rent. Some hubcap scratches cost $100 because I didn't inspect before I rented. The employee was difficult, the location hard to reach, and they offered no assistance with finding my way in the city.

Pros: Nice car, friendly service.

Cons: Wait was too long. I have not received the scratch and marks paper upon picking up my car. The return office tried to add a scratch that was already there before pick up. That was unprofessional. Buit in Car GPS wasn't activated, I had to purchase my own.

Pros: -We waited in line at the Edinburgh hertz for 2 hours. Are reservation was at 10. We arrived at 10am waited in line for 2 hours. It was a terrible experience:( would not rent from hertz again, because of this experience -Car was in great shape! -The woman at the desk in Edinburgh was super helpful!! -drop off in Glasgow was excellent

Pros: Picked up at Edinburgh downtown. Car was already booked. When given the insurance rate it was more that the car rental with a big deductible. Was told by the agent that if I was to have booked with UK Hertz, then there would be no deductible. So, he cancelled the car and redid it under UK and no deductible, which saved me lots of money. And, I needed it, as some scratched the car and I did not have to pay anything. Agent was good,

Cons: We did have to wait quite some time to get the car, as only one agent for first 20-25 minutes or so. Was disappointed when there were no other cars available at any location, as we found out the car was not quite big enough. But, we made do. When dropped off in Manchester, there was no one there to check out with. Waited about 5 minutes then had to go into the obtaining are area and man came out to find the person. Girl that did check me out was very hard to understand.

Not worth it

Pros: Car was brand new

Cons: Unlike all the other rental companies, you have to take a bus Easirent. Returning the car is also a pain because there are no signs leading you to their location. Ironically, the car's GPS doesn't have Easirents location; we had to use our phone's map app. Obviously, you have to take a bus back to the airport to catch your plane or taxi, so it's just a hassle. The price ended up not being as cheap as advertised and if I would have know, I'd have gone with Hertz.

Poor customer service

Pros: The car was fine for a day in Scotland.

Cons: Car needed oil change, customer service at airport was good. We were not told about an extra charge for dropping the car off at the downtown location when we were told it would be fine to do so. Gentleman at desk (Liem) was not understanding and did not attempt to make it right for the customer. Very disappointed in this experience.

Cons: The car that i reserved was not available. After waiting 1.5 hrs in line or for my car the manager said I could have another car. Then an hour into the trip an alert came on the dash for 'AdBlue'. Upon research the car would fail to start after the level of AdBlue was low enough. Sure enough I had to go way out of my way for this unexpected problem for which they said they would reimburse me (to which I have not yet been reimbursed). Then I was quoted at a £80 less than what I was charged. This again was a problem on their side because I had waived the liability and put a deposit on the car so I should not have been charged that £80. When I talked to the person about getting that taken care of, she said she didn't know how to go about that and would email me the next day. Of course, the day has come and gone and no email. So very disappointed with my rental experience.

Bait and switch

Pros: The car was great. Clean, worked well and no trouble. Staff had a sense of urgency and moved fast to help.

Cons: You are forced to buy insurance if you don't have a $25,000+ limit on your credit card!!! This and other hidden charges immediately double or triple the price and make you feel scammed. If you purchase the insurance online, it doesn't cover you!!! This bait-and-switch tactic of offering a low price online and then forcing you to pay extra when you are captive to the easirent counter with luggage in hand and family waiting in the rain is completely unscrupulous. The Vauxhall Corsa was brand new, so I had to drive to a filling station straight away and fill the tank (inconvenient).

cheapest, but be advised

Cons: The car rental facility is not at the airport, you have to take a shuttle to the airport. From the time I arrived to pick up the car, I had to wait an hour before I received the car and could drive away. They also added a mandatory insurance plan which cost 10 or 20 pounds. When I said I did not want insurance, they said you are not allowed to decline, so factor that into the price (which still leaves it less than many others.) It is the least expensive, but this is why you are paying less.

Cons: We waited no less than 90 minutes to get the car even though we had a reservation. They also made a skirt collision damage waiver even though I tried to decline because my credit card provides for it.

Wrong car

Pros: Ordered E-Class Ort similar and they offenes a BMW 3Series. A good car but not for four People with a lot of luggage. It took over 2 hours to get a 5Series BMW. Very poor service. The car was ok, dropoff without probems.

Feel completely ripped off

Pros: Car was very good, clean and comfortable. No issue with the car.

Cons: When I returned the car, the assistant manager went straight to one tyre and pointed out a couple of dents in the tyre wall that he claims I must have caused as the tyres were in perfect condition before the rental. When I told him that the pre-rental check of the car only included the bodywork and that the guy mentioned that damage to the wheels was normal and didn't count, he said he'd check with the guy that I picked the car up from. The guy was in the back office and didn't come out but the assistant manager assured me that I was invited to inspect the tyres beforehand. The was simply not true. I was charged £300 to replace the tyre. Outrageous.

Dream trip, nightmare service

Pros: Second try car did the job.

Cons: Not given the car booked. Substitute couldn't fit bags and wives. Sent many miles out of our way to exchange car. No bill or invoice still, three days after return. No response to inquiries. Broken promises.

Pros: Staff engaging and helpful.

Cons: Cigarette lighter did not work so could not use my own satnav and had to buy a map. As a rule, cars seem to be advertised as a focus / mondeo or similar and despite hiring lots of cars, I almost never receive the car that is advertised - I know the brief on this, but whole process seems a bit of a ruse. The Excess amount to be charged for a potential incident is excessive. Not very easy to see bumps / scuffs / chips etc on the car in the dark on pick-up or to be fair on drop-off.

Completely unprofessional

Pros: Nothing!!! If you want to spoil your holiday plans, please go ahead and book with this location and they will not disappoint you. We had booked 2 7-seater vans for a one day trip to the highlands continuing on to Glasgow the next day. At the time of pick-up, we were informed by the desk staff that they don’t have the cars and it was not possible to make any alternate arrangements.

Cons: Such a callous attitude for a confirmed booking!!! We had provided our email addresses and telephone numbers during the booking and they didn’t have the courtesy to call and let us know so we could make alternate arrangements. They stated that they sent an email and we did not receive any email from them.. 2 different email addresses and both didn’t get any notification. They did mention that they were trying all weekend to get the cars but were unable to acquire them and when asked for alternate options they didn’t seem to care!!! Left us completely stranded!!! Completely unprofessional!!!

Cons: Had to add AddBlue to the vehicle - something this American had never heard of before. Perhaps the rental staff should warn renters of this, or check the levels, prior to renting a vehicle out. When told to do this and that I would be reimbursed for the cost, I was given three different instructions as to how to get the reimbursement. It took three follow-up calls and two emails for this to happen. This process should be improved, as it was quite tedious and time-consuming for me.

Great car

Pros: The car. Ease of pick up.

Cons: The wait in line to get the car. Avis/budget were combined, preferred members jump the line, the rest of us "less preferred". Customers waited.. Close to an hour. Drop off was easy.

Cons: I felt pressured to upgrade to a car model that I did not need for my trip. When I arrived I was told that the car I had reserved many weeks in advance would not be ready for quite some time, but I could upgrade for minimal cost. In the end the minimal cost turned out to be much more.

Scotland Adventure

Pros: Short distance to go pick up car

Cons: My booking voucher said holidayauto and the desk said Europcar. It was difficult to determine that was the place we needed to pick up the car. Voucher should say Europcar

Pros: The car was great. Excellent gas mileage, handled well, and was absolutely impeccable when we picked it up. Service was kind and friendly.

Cons: The return process has been a little frustrating. First, I was not told that I would need to keep the copy of the paperwork stating our agreement to give to the Avis rep on Orkney. Had I known that, I would have put it with the other confirmations and information that I was toting around instead of panicking. Second, I found the paperwork, gave the keys to the Avis rep, he said he would get it South from there, and I had nothing further to do. Unfortunately, I got an email from Avis telling me I was in breach of contract because the car hadn't been returned. This issue has not been resolved and is currently my only frustration with the rental.

Cons: Terrible insurance policy. Price for car is very Good, but they push you buy everythig. You have to buy full insurance to have 0 responsibility, Because without in case of accident you pay 2500 £ for one scratch And

Pros: Car was upgraded to a brand new luxury car (we had paid for a mini/economy/compact) which was actually more stressful thinking of potential expensive repairs. The car worked great and the nav system was fully functional - had some weird settings that we couldnt figure out how to turn off.

Cons: There were many hidden fees with this company that, since we booked through Kayak, were not made clear to us. They don't let you pay for the car using a credit card that has flat numbers. They claim this is because when they make a physical copy of the card, the numbers don't show up, and their insurance "doesn't like that". This is a scam to force you into buying their car insurance, which was very frustrating. They also wanted us to put down a deposit of almost $3,000 for our 1-week rental, or pay an additional $40 per day for a $1200 deposit. The total we paid ended up being similar to other bigger, name brand car rental companies, but it was just frustrating that this was advertised as a "discount" car company.

Reservation Not Honored, Agent Didn't Care

Cons: We made a same-day reservation and when we showed up, the agent wouldn't honor the reservation. He said they had no cars, third-party broker reservations take at least 24 hours to come through, and dismissed my 'but I have a reservation' with, "but you haven't paid anything for it yet, have you?" He was completely unapologetic and uncaring. We paid for a taxi from the train station to the airport for this reservation and ended up having to pay several times more to get one of the few available cars at a competitor at the airport. Complete failure and I'm astonished Kayak and Dollar associates with this franchise.

Cons: Company called partway through my rental to tell me to return the car because it had been sold! They offered an exchange but no compensation for the hassle of returning the car. Also tried to claim damage with small scratches on one tire rim - I was able to prove that they were there when I rented the car. You need to run your finger around the rim when picking up the car to check for tiny scratches.
