Pros: 1. Sea is very good: clean, no big waves 2. Breakfasts are various and tasty 3. Room is big, comfort and with good view
Cons: 1. Hotel services don't correspond its price (300$ per night with only breakfasts included). 2. Too many stuff and most of them are very lazy and useless - different people said different things about facilities ( for example, is restaurant open or not), sometimes you need 4-5 people to solve the problem. Our tv in the room was not working and it takes 3-4 requests from our side to fix it. Also we couldn't get second blanket - they couldn't understand what we asked for - we had to asked it for 3 times. 3. Small beach with rocks - they don't recommend to swim, however, the sea is very good. You need yourself to find the place to go into the water without rocks and then ok. Stuff as always didn't help to find such a place - they only said not to swim. 4. On the hotel territory there are electric cars and tuk-tuks everywhere - you should get out of the road on the grass to let them go. And 95% of the time on this cars are only hotel stuff (not the guests) - so you started to think that hotel is made for the stuff and not for the guests. 5. During checkout they trying to cheat us on 40$ - we had to spend time on this and then had to hurry to the airport. 6. Price for the airport transfer is cosmic high - 250$, however it is only 2.5 hours of ride. You can get another car out of the hotel for about 80$ (what we did).
Excellent 9.0
Pros: well maintained, beautiful location
Cons: cost of food and flexibility of offers could be improved, such as finger-food offers
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful hotel and grounds. Staff welcoming and professional. Food outstanding. Great location. Just a very high standard.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Location is perfect on the beach. As it was during COVID we weren’t able to go into the town. Rooms are well equipped and very comfortable. Staff are very helpful and made our experience amazing.
Cons: The utilise restaurant was closed because the hotel wasn’t busy which was a shame as the location of the restaurant looked amazing. On the evening we were due to eat on the beach the hotel cancelled due to the weather forecast but we weren’t able to re arrange.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is probably the most amazing resort I have ever stayed in! The pool area, the beautiful rooms, the beautiful beach.. everything! The staff here had world class customer service, we loved everyone we had the chance to talk to, so friendly and so helpful. The restaurants are incredible too! We will definitely be back! Can not recommend this place high enough!!
Cons: Keep in mind the food here / spa treatments are very expensive (but worth it!)
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Well-kept hotel with very friendly staff. My daughter had lost her swimming goggles - they were found and brought to the next hotel! The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The food in the main restaurant is very varied and tastes great! Extra mashed potatoes and co. were prepared for our baby.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Absolutely loved our stay, the staff were genuinely so kind and helpful. The resort was so beautiful and clean! The food was delicious! Perfect place for both families and couples!
Excellent 10.0
We came here four 4 nights at the end of a hectic tour of Sri Lanka and it was wonderful. From the moment we stepped into the hotel welcomed by a group of singers to the moment we left it was heaven. We had a lovely villa with pool beautifully appointed with everything we needed and a great butler who looked after every need. The resort is gorgeous with multiple restaurants, stunning beach although too rough to swim and not enough beds and umbrellas and two fabulous infinity pools. It was beautiful with monkeys, monitor lizards and peacocks roaming around. The restaurants are good but extremely expensive considering we were in Sri Lanka where eating out is very cheap. We had two meals out of the hotel which were very good. Breakfast for the villas is in a place by the beach which was very quiet and peaceful. We loved our stay and would return anytime without hesitation.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Taru Villas was truly impressive from the outset. The setting is a beautiful colonial style villa located on a secluded stretch of beach that feels private. Our room and bathroom were beautifully appointed and decorated - the most lovely room of our trip and definitely 5-star standard. The staff were attentive and accommodating during our stay. I cannot say enough about the food - it was outstanding and the best rice and curry we had in Sri Lanka. Unfortunately our stay was during the evolving coronavirus pandemic. Saying that the hotel managed to maintain the peace and tranquility, and were incredibly helpful when we were trying to reschedule our flights home. It was our honeymoon trip, but we plan to try again next year and will definitely be returning to Taru Villas.
Cons: Wish we could have stayed longer!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The perfect destination on the South coast of Sri Lanka. An idyllic colonial villa with a nice garden and exclusive beach area that makes it the ideal place for couples. The staff member that looked after us was incredibly helpful and accommodating, and really worked out just what we were looking for. The food was amazing, particularly the prawn and black pork curries.
Cons: The ONE thing that was less than ideal was that we were not told you have to provide notice the night before for the Sri Lankan breakfast. If we hadn’t read the small leaflet in our room and realised then we would have missed out on the delicious local meal. Luckily we did and it was great!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The property was just amazing. If you can, take the “master bedroom”. Its size, furnishing, style, the porch and the view are all breathtaking. Great, attentive service (all the staff included). They were friendly, kind, helpful, made our room sparkling clean and beautiful every day. Breakfast is super good, rest of the food is OK as well. Quiet, basically private beach with pristine ocean, soft sand and sunshine. Stayed 4 nights, definitely a 10/10 hotel experience.
Cons: To support longer stays better, a bit more variety of local cuisine and vegetarian options would be appreciated for the dinner menu. The AC in the master bedroom could use an upgrade, getting a bit noisy.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This hotel is simply in a league of its own. The staff are attentive without being too pushy. They are friendly and professional and have clearly received a high level of training. The whole hotel oozed peace and tranquility. The decor incredible. The setting right on the beach enviable. The food was simply delicious and very reasonably priced. If you are lucky enough to stay at Taru Villas, Mawella, I would highly recommend the Eggs Benedict for breakfast. The coffee served here is flavoursome and hot, the first decent cup of coffee I had enjoyed in 12 days since arriving in Sri Lanka. The coffee is served to you, free of charge, on request rather than having tea and coffee making facilities in your room. To be able to have dinner and breakfast on your own private patio, looking out towards the sea was surreal. I can only use positive superlatives to describe how awesome Taru Villas is. It was my birthday during our stay and the staff kindly presented me with a birthday cake and sang happy birthday. A wonderful and unexpected surprise. A massive thank you to all the staff for making our stay so memorable. It felt like we had found paradise. My only regret is that we hadn't booked to stay longer. We will definitely return.
Cons: Nothing. It's difficult to improve on perfection.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The taru villas are located at the silent mawella beach, perfect for long walks and swimming in the ocean. The resort is perfectly integrated in the nature with spacious and clean rooms in vintage design. I want to highlight the wonderful staff that anticipate someones every wish. Thanks for a great stay!
Cons: Erverything is perfect
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything. Lovely pool, great food, comfortable beds. The staff are fantastic and helpful. The beach is best in the mornings. Windswept and far from the tourist throng.
Cons: This us a fabulous, relaxed property with wonderful staff and food and facilities for a relaxed holiday - it is not for people seeking action, party etc. We loved it!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything about this accommodation was perfect. The service was impeccable, the food was amazing, the rooms were beautifully decorated and looked after. We did not have t ask for a thing. We celebrated my parents 45th wedding anniversary while we were there and the staff made it a night to remember. They went out of their way to make it a wonderful evening.
Cons: I cannot fault this property.
Excellent 10.0

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Everything was good. Peaceful and calm.
Cons: There is no AC.
Good 7.9
Pros: Fantastic location! Perfect sandy beach. Sweet staff. Food tasty.
Cons: No air condition. Rooms very dark and poorly lit. Had to order food far in advance.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We stayed here the second time, we enjoyed everyday. You can relax in the garden right next to the beach, grab a bodyboard and have fun in the waves, enjoy the great food (try the seafood barbeque). Dont expect parties- its a place to relax and enjoy stillness. The staff is wonderfull, the manager very nice and kind and helps you wherever he cans :) thank you and hopefully See you next year again!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The House, the Staff, the Food, the Beach - everything was perfect and absolut relaxing.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Staff was amazing, always available to fulfill every request. Position, right on the beach. Cleanliness and room design. For NYE the staff organized a lovey seafood dinner with live music for all the guests, ending with firework and a glass of champagne on the beach. Th staff has been also extremely helpful to rent a scooter and to arrange for transport back to Colombo airport.
Cons: Only one small suggestion, the garden could be used and presented in a much better way
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very cool hotel Japanese design in every detail, Nice indoor space fot eating or reading. Very nice breakfast served in a nice way. We recommend end local bread and curry.
Cons: One satir step was hard to see. It can cause accidents when you suddenly takes two steps. Please make it visible.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Nice boutique hotel in Japanese style. Fronts on to a glorious clean strolling beach. Not much hassle from locals. No loud noises from neighbours. Food is prepared and presented well. Staff are quiet but always there when you need them.
Cons: Prices were a bit expensive by Sri Lankan prices. If you want busy bars and restaurants don't come here. It's quiet here.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Awsome accomodation. Beach for ourselves! They also lent us bodyboards for free and arranged all the transport around. Very friendly and helpful staff!
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Incredibly good value for money, Isana is a real gem.
Cons: nothing!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It is the BEST place to stay I've seen in all of Sri Lanka - both homey/cosy and boutique/with great architecture. Part of the staff is family, so I guess this also helps to maintain the feeling of home. Food is very, very good and the beach is a gem - very secluded (almost private), clean, with awesome waves (good for swimming), and real working people going into the ocean to fish at 4am. AMAZING EXPERIENCE for people to want to get away from it all and really relax. 9.9/10.
Cons: Not bad things, but rather something to take into account before going: 1. Free breakfast is great but basic - eggs, toast, some fruit and coffee - it's not a breakfast bar. You need to pre-order lunch and dinner in the morning at a separate cost to get the best food experience. Budget ~15 USD/day for the two meals with beer - will be more than enough. 2. This is a beach to relax. Look elsewhere for jet skis, scuba diving, etc.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: A very, very nice hotel. No big complex, but lovingly designed. The staff is very courteous and the food is very good. We were in one of the villas (free upgrade) and had the feeling of having arrived in paradise. Thanks for the wonderful days!
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The idea of the resort is fantastic.
Cons: The lady who manages the resort was not very kind.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The food was excellent. We had dinner and breakfast. The personnel was very friendly and helpful. We stayed there on the night of my husband birthday and they prepared a surprise passion fruit cheesecake. Fantastic! The scenary is very nice with their private beach only a few steps from the hotel. The manager Ani was also very friendly and gave her own personal touch to our experience. It is a unique place where to stay and we .would love to go back when we will have the opportunity to be back in Sri Lanka. We recommend it strongly.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The hotel has a really helpful and friendly staff. There's a very nice pool with a breathtaking sea view. On the territory you can meet monkeys, squirrels, peacocks and other animals. The garden is also very beautiful. We enjoyed a yoga class in the early morning and fruit tasting after lunch
Cons: The bed was too soft, for us it wasn't very comfortable. The sizes of vegetarian dishes are too small, because it's also a detox menu. But few other vegetarian options were available
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Fantastic views, wonderful staff, excellent food, superb pool and grounds. The attention to detail was outstanding, both in design and in service.
Cons: N/a
Good 7.9
Pros: Very nicely located hotel on a hill with nice view over the sea from the restaurant area and some (but not all) rooms. Nice pool area with 25m basin next to restaurant and nice private beach area at 3 minutes walking distance. Very friendly and helpful staff and very clean rooms. Nice style of hotel and rooms with large beds and wooden walls with its own UTMT color branding. Good food at restaurant and free cake and fruit during happy hour in afternoon; daily changing dishes in addition to standard menu (Curries are delicious!). Good Ayurveda treatment offerings including corresponding food. Private pool next to our apartment was very nice and relaxing. We would definitely recommend to go there and enjoy a few days of relaxation in a beautiful resort.
Cons: High season also raises the prices in this hotel (such as in most others as well). WiFi reception varies from good to bad over the hotel area.
Good 7.5
Pros: amazing look and feel, good vibes, cool details, super friendly staff
Cons: Too expensive for what you get, all activities on the side are for example still extra charged for such as yoga. Further, the menu from the restaurant is very limited. It’s a cool place but I’ve stayed in better more ‘special’ hotels for less

Excellent 8.0
Pros: It is a elegant cabana with all facilities. Hotwater, free wifi, King size bed and single bed with other furniture. It is a best place to stay with your family. Very calm environment.
Good 6.0
Pros: Location
Cons: Mosquitoes
Excellent 9.6
This place covers 13 acres of area and has Cabanas and Villas type accommodation. Rooms are adequate for two and was clean and tidy. Food was amazing but it would take little bit of time to prepare them. Regardless the taste was super good. Staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend place. Keep up the good work!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Loved the staff, very polite!
Cons: Nothing to complain about.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Hospitality and service of staff. Facilities - restaurant, pool, bike hire. Close to beach. Quiet surroundings, beautiful gardens, private terrace. Ticks all the boxes.
Cons: Nothing really. Relatively short pool opening hours (9-6pm), it would be nice to have a swim before breakfast and in the evening.
Good 6.0
Pros: Perfect Location, excellent beach, wonderful grounds and excellent cabanas and villas
Cons: Messy reception that looks like an office spoils the look of the place. The food appears to be on a seriously restricted budget. Very limited choice and very small portions. If you want extra fruit, you have to pay! 5 star feeling resort with amazing villas and cabanas but the stingy breakfast and messy reception spoil things. BUT, I would certainly go back!
Good 7.0
Pros: Location
Cons: Facilities and cleanliness was very poor.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location is amazing and the property layout is ideal
Cons: Shower facilities closer to the beach.

Okay 5.0
Pros: The view from the patio is overwhelming, especially the one from the mansion suite (most expensive one). The breakfast was very delicious and we could choose daily from different varieties. The optional dinner was overprized had always a flat taste. We can only recommend the breakfast. Staff was very accommodating and friendly! Both the beach and a small store are not far away (5mins walk each)
Cons: We had booked the mansion. We neither had WiFi nor a nice view. We were quite far away from the hotel down the small path and felt isolated to others which we didn't like.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Location- beautiful beach Little cottage gave you privacy Nice food
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A truly beautiful place. Great views, great rooms, good breakfast and dinners. Friendly staff. Close to the beautiful Silent Beach. A good tuktuk tp anything else though.
Cons: If you are easily disturbed at night, bring earbuds. As many other places in this country the neighborhood dog can keep you awake. Also the nearby prayer tower at 05.30.
Okay 5.8
Pros: We really liked the setting, with lots of gardens and a beautiful view. It’s a bit out of Tangalle itself in a mini-fishing community. Walking distance to a few ok beaches (Silent/Silence Beach - not really swimable - and the multi-bayed Fisherman’s Bay - ok for swimming but lots of rubbish on sand). There’s also a beautiful ‘secret’ beach nearby (again, not great swimming due to waves. Locals will be helpful or yell insults depending on who you bump into on the way). It’s a quick 15minute tuk tuk to Hiriketiya and Pehebhiya/Dikwella Beach, both of which we loved. Food good but expensive. Breakfast was ok, papaya heavy fruit salad. We really enjoyed dinner. A bit pricey, but seems to be the way of it along the south coast.
Cons: The intro has a lot of information. Would benefit from having it written down. Also preempted any feedback on bugs etc by mentioning that you’ll get them. Recommend they get bug screens for doors and windows. There is no liquor licence but the hosts will happily get you things you need or want from town when they do the dinner ingredient run. They will then charge you restaurant prices rather than just the cost of the item (we’d be ok if it was plus a little extra for their time/admin/service but it’s a bit rough to charge 200lkr per glass of coke when you asked for a bottle. A bottle coke ended up costing us $7AUD (800lkr). The RRP on the bottle was 220lkr). It’s a bit of a rort. Bring your own beers and drinks from town yourself. The rooms don’t have aircon which is fine we knew that and half our group live in Brisbane so we’re used to the heat. In saying that, the place would benefit from a pedestal fan or two. Of the three ceiling fans, one was great, the other only worked on the slowest setting and the third was rendered ineffectual for sleeping due to the mosquito net over the bed having a nylon top which meant none of the air was circulated through. Air con would be a welcome addition at the price. The wifi was also rubbish with a pass-agg name and password. Found English was an issue when convenient. We asked for taxi to Mirissa with a stop in Talalla for a swim (given beaches by hotel were gross or unswimmable). This was not communicated to the driver who didn’t understand us. So we missed out on this. Unfortunately we left headphones behind so we had to go back for them. We couldn’t work out what it would cost for the hotel to bring to us. We figured it would be easier for us to pay to have them delivered to us by tuk tuk. The driver didn’t understand our question and this was when we realised he wasn’t going to do our requested stop at Talalla.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We spent amazing eight days in Little Tamarind. It is an amazing place! We had very taste breakfasts and dinners Very friendly staff took care about us for all time Sophia's yoga lessons were very useful. We are sure we will come back again.
Cons: I would recommend improving the building and interior maintenance. For example, the toilet door could not be closed. A drain stank occasionally. The fan was quite noisy at a high frequency. In my experience, these deficiencies are typical for these countries like Sri Lanka, and so I have a great understanding of them.

Pros: The location was spot on a little hard to find but a little paradise behind the green gate. Really close to two unspoilt beaches which is hard to find now in Sri Lanka.Silent beach is perfect! The accommodation is raised on the hill side so probably not very good if you have any mobility issues but the rooms view and food are all top class! The wildlife is amazing monkeys running over the roof tops in the morning plenty of birds reptiles and frogs even saw fireflies in the evenings The host Eli and his team are very helpful. Eli advises me where to go and which times would be best to see the areas. I got up at 5 to go to the Rock Buddhist Temple.Eli arranged transportation and there was only me there fantastic exploring the place without the tourist lol! Overall this is one of the nicest places in Sri Lanka keep up the good work because I know there’s move expansion in the process with your yoga and paddle board activities.
Cons: Every thing was cool
Good 7.2
Pros - Amazing ocean view, clean and beautifully designed. The Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious. The staff is really kind. Beautiful beaches nearby. Cons - Although the staff is very nice, they were unprofessional. The laundry that was promised to be done after 3 hours was delivered only after 10 hours, with some white clothes ruined and other still wet (we wanted to pack them before our flight the next day). The silent beach is beautiful but is not suitable for swimming as the sea is always rough. Also the way back from the beach is challenging. The dinner although tasty, was not enough for a full dish. For the price it is expected that you dont stay hungry... Also tere was no kettle in the room. Again for this hotel and price, higher standards are expected. Overall it is a truly beautiful hotel, but for the price better service is expected, we have the feeling that the hotel still has many loose ends.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was great!! The style of the hotel is like a traditional design beach house. All super clean with a nice fresh smell, breathtaking view of the sea from balcony, lots of privacy and space in the room. The location is perfect, only 2-min walk from the nicest Sri Lankan beach called Silent beach. The hotel staff are nice and help you organise different activities, including yoga (they have a dedicated open space room at the hotel balcony with a sea view), sea turtle watching, cookery class, etc. Highly recommended and looking forward to come back again.
Cons: Nothing!!! Everything was just amazing.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything- staff were brilliant and the view amazing
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Amazing view from the room Nice property with a fellow peacock in the garden Welcoming staff Great location in-between two beautiful beaches (in a walking distance)
Cons: Despite asking, the room was not tidy during our 3-day stay as it should be expected from this price range accommodation. Food is not good value for money (ie breakfast).Go having a breakfast at Fisherman beach ! (;

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Stunning seafront location right between Dickwella and Hiriketiya beach, which are both easily accessible by foot; nice sunsets on the rocks in front of the hotel & fireflies at night. The staff is very, very friendly, attentive and helpful. If you have any special wishes, they try to make it happen, e. g. they organized an Ayurveda massage directly in the hotel; breakfast was delicious and portions huge. There are different breakfast options and you can choose between typical Sri Lankan breakfast or more classical ones with omelette/scrambled egg/sausage etc. Breakfast always varied a bit which was nice. They also serve lunch and dinner for great price/value. I also really liked the concept of the huts being built in the traditional Sri Lankan clay house style. We extended our stay when we were there and will be back in the future for sure!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: GREAT LANDSCAPE BEAUTIFUL SEAVIEW
Cons: FOOD WAS GREAT BUT SERVICE NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
Good 7.0
Pros: Great location, close to both Dikwella and Hiriketiya beaches. Great sea views, very beautiful. The property was planting new trees and really putting effort into how it looked, with new walls being built too. The Sri Lankan breakfast was super tasty. The staff were friendly. The terrace was great with nice tables and chairs, and lovely swing chairs to relax. A small bookcase with books to borrow and some games as well. Had a nice atmosphere overall. It was a good stay and I loved it, don't let the negative things put you off, I'm writing them so that the property can improve so they're really awesome. I'm sure if they make the necessary changes it will be wonderful.
Cons: The room was basic. Some of the clay from the mud hut was falling in so bit dusty. The pillow was quite hard. The staff were not always attentive, small things were missed and seemed a bit chaotic when serving breakfast, for example no cutlery or no butter for toast (I had to ask). Perhaps just a bit out of practice given covid and having fewer guests for a while, just needs to be a bit slicker. The two nights I was there, people staying in other rooms kept loud music going late into the night and I had to go and tell them to be quiet, the staff didn't take care of it. The next day it looked like the people in the other rooms had had a party on the terrace, there were bottles and food everywhere and it hadn't been cleaned up- the staff should get in early before breakfast to clean (and the other guests should be more considerate of others). The guests in other rooms were all male and as a solo female traveller this could be a bit intimidating. At checkout the price I was told was different to what I had booked, so I had to show my reservation and get them to charge me the correct price.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great scenery outside with sea view
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Kind staff, perfect location, clean room and good food. The calm of the sea in front of us made the rest! To the next one :)
Good 7.0
Pros: We booked this place to stay somewhere calm and it for sure was calm. Really relaxing place overlooking the ocean. It's located between Hiriketiya Beach and Dikwella Beach so you can easily choose which one you'd prefer. Would had been nice if it was possible to take a dip in the ocean in front of the accommodation (if you don't want to walk to the beach) but it's not. The room and bathroom had a good size and well cleaned and the best part is that there was a refrigerator! This was the only place we stayed at where we could keep our water cold, that was really worth a lot.
Cons: The floor fans are very loud and didn't help much at all in order to keep the room a bit cool. It was very hot during the nights (maybe ceiling fans would help a bit better?). We also touched the fans while trying to adjust them and got rust stains on our clothes that won't go away. The breakfast could use a bit of a change, I'd prefer less bread (the portions is way too big) and more of a fruit plate. The clay houses are very charming but a bit due to the location (not directly at the beach) I feel the price per night is a bit high.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location was amazing! You have the choice between two different beaches so it never gets boring. The breakfast was great and we got each day something different to eat. The huts are basic but you‘ve got all you need in there and also everything was clean. Every hut has a little terrace with a beautiful view towards the ocean. Would come back another time!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Near the ocean, really nice place

Poor 1.0
Pros: The view
Cons: Everything else. Especially, I was told by the manager that in their 20 year history, they never provided driver’s accommodation. I had to send my driver few kilometres down to get his accommodation.. Heard from the driver that this was Manager’s setup..
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: I liked the beach and location, it is very beautiful.
Cons: The staff is not attentive and not friendly. For three days I didn’t get my room cleaned. When I insisted on room cleaning they just made up the bed but didn’t provide clean towels! Food is double the price of other hotels and is very bad quality. Above all there are no umbrellas, no cabanas, no shower near the beach. All in all the service is very bad. When I checked out I was told the amount I pay in US dollars, but when I saw my bank statement I found out that they charged me more.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Nice calm environment for family and very helpful staff. Well organized and user friendly environment. Spacious and clean
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Beach was very nice. Room was clean and comortable with a great view. Pools were nice, food was very good, and the staff was very kind, helpful, and fun.
Cons: Everything was wonderful
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Stunning location, best beaches in Sri Lanka and hardly anyone on them. Property was very peaceful with lovely gardens. Hotel manager was very accommodating, did everything to make our stay enjoyable.
Cons: Food a bit pricey, so we chose to eat dinner outside the property. Buffet dinner a bit disappointing for the price, not a lot of meat options - mainly vegetarian.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We travelled in Sri Lanka for over three weeks in December/ January and stayed at several hotels in different regions. Eva Lanka was for us the overall best experience. The hotels location is absolute fantastic with a beautiful, lush, large and well maintaned garden overlooking the ocean, lots of flower, animals and birds (I counted at least 15 species of birds in the garden) and two nice and clean saltwater pools. We stayed for 9 nights, both in a bungalow and in one of the newer 2- store buildings. AC worked fine, rooms big and well designed/clean and both with a stunning ocean view. We also liked the set up/design of the lobby and restaurant departments. The hotel was one of the first built in the area, and of course it has some patina, for us it only contributed with charm and a personal touch. Staff service was excellent, food good (not exceptional), with both continental and Sri Lankan breakfast, lunch and dinner. Wifi worked ok, not an important issue in paradise. Manju, the manager, David & Franscesca, the owners, made us feel like we where at home. So friendly and caring. Sara in the reception, is now like a daughter for us. On top of that a fantastic private beach with a basic but funky local restaurant. No problems swimming in the ocean if you are observent and used to open sea, my 11 years old loved it and we spotted lot of corall fish snorkling around the rock reefs (masks free of charge from hotel). In walking distance you have several quiet beaches and we used the hotels surfboards free of charge. You can acces Unakuruwa beach by feet (800 meters on a trail). Nice break point, not much people and a small but great surfcenter (Bay Tour Surf Center) and a few, low budget, beach restaurants. My son and I walked there everyday and connected to the local surfers, that were super friendly. We would absolutely return to Eva Lanka, a perfect spot if you like nature, water activities, relaxed atmosphere and tranquility.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The massage treatments where great. Hotel surroundings beautiful beach under hotel amazing staff very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Breakfast was poor menu not much chose.
Good 7.9
Cons: Excellent location. Beautiful hotel. But room service and facilities are poor. No telephone to contact reception even.

Pros: The location is great for those who want a quiet relaxing holiday, Hotel situation directly on a large quite beach. We had a full-board, and the food was amazing, great choice and variety throughout our entire stay. 30mins walk to a nice surfing beach. Hotel well cleaned and maintained throughout the day.
Cons: Excursions seemed to be limited to the availability of the single hotel driver,so choice limited if already booked. Our experience of the Yala National Park excursion was a bit disappointing both in terms of organisation and experience when there. Airport pick-up felt quite expensive (100 Euro each way) but there is little other choice, but overall ok.
Mediocre 3.8
Pros: Badly maintained Rooms had broken cupboards and drawers - lamp shades scew- dirty windows like they haven’t been washed in years Slow service No salt and pepper on tables Average food
Cons: Would not come back
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location is supherb, wonderfull views from our terrace, the resort is surrounded by 2 beaches. pool area well kept and very big and very clean. All workers are very friendly and helpfull. We loved our rides to town, Hiriketiya beach and the Buddhas Museum. Take the friendly tuc-tuc drivers just at the entrance gate of the resort, it is safe and cheap and getting some direct contact with Sri Lanka people. Try DODS bar for Nightlife in Hiriketiya beach.
Cons: The inventory is old , the airco loud, bathroom no Windows and the heat from neighbour air condition device comes into the bathroom .the Doors Don,t close well, all old and needing of maintenance. Breakfast ends by 9h30, too early for a holidaymaker.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: restaurant was very good, there were choise from sri lanka cousine and europena cousine, fresh fishes, pasta.... Nice pool, especially one for small childrens. Nice and clean welness centrum with massages.
Cons: Very poor services on reception. They offered trip to national park, but weren´t able to arrange any individual trip and help with some small trip in surroundings, or arrange taxi. We must arrange everything ourselves on the internet with local agencies.
Good 6.4
Such a sad property, run down and overpriced for what it is. Idelic location, beaches and genuinely lovely staff. If someone were to just invest and develop this could be a great property. I wouldnt recommend it for the price... too expensive!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This is a great stay for a romantic weekend or a week with the family. You can swim and enjoy some great snorkel in the clear ocean waters at the hotel's doorstep and also enjoy some fabulous cuisine...especially in the seafood restaurant. Hiriketiya Bay is also only a 10 min tuk tuk ride away, which is arguably the best beach on the planet...great surf with reef break for experienced surfer and fun sandbanks for the beginners...all in the one bay.
Cons: The dinner service Al La Cart was a little slow...but food is always worth the wait!
Excellent 8.4
This is a great location bit far away from city center. You can enjoy your stay with lot of natural things like nature stone pools , bird watching etc. Breakfast also great with lot of options.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Dickwella resort was a nice treat amongst the chaos. The facilities were fanatic, rooms, restaurant, pool and spa were all great. Room has a wet wood smell because of room fixtures but we got use to it. Beds are uncomfortable and firm- we found that was everywhere we went so wasn’t unusual.. aircon was amazing.. Best curry in Sri Lanka yet! Up stairs at the restaurant prawn and drumstick!! Amazing Resort was relatively expensive for Sri Lanka but the accommodation and staff are worth the extra doll. Overall would 100% stay again..
Cons: The other guests. We found that we very rarely came across other Aussies.. Most of the tourists staying at the resorts aren’t very friendly. They are private and not looking at making friends... heaps of other places available if your more for that vibe. More of a family or other person spot.. great to have some peace and quite
Okay 4.2
Pros: Location is nice and foods are delicious.
Cons: Room were not clean and there were insects in the room. Also, price and perfomance ratio is very bad. I’ll not come this hotel.
Mediocre 2.8
We stayed in the hotel for 04 nights and our experience was terrible. Front office receptionist are good and helpful. Housekeeping does good job too. However, it’s a Very very poor management. They never bother to greet people. As guest we had to greet them first always. Never even smile & we didn’t feel welcomed at all. Especially the head Hosekeeper lady. The worst food and beverage service i have ever experienced. Never attended to our table and we always had to run after them to give our order. I was really disappointed by their service. Because of them, i had to go outside and look for a place to feed my family. They used the knifes and table mat which was on the floor and this happened in front of us. All tea cups with stains. Coffee machine was out of order from the day we arrived till our last evening. We would not recommend this hotel to any of our friends or family due to the bad experience we had. Hotel van driver was very good to us on our small tour.
Okay 4.8
People working there are nice and eager to help with some good training, it can be a great spot. Facilities are tired (Eg: kids playground is really old and most items are unsafe) Maintenance seems to be the issue as toilets in public areas are disgustingly dirty, there was no soap in the restaurant bathroom for all the three nights we stayed. The system for changing towels is unclear, so as a guest you end up walking into a strange dark and smelly room to get a towel from the plastic bag. Service is mostly slow even though the were only a few people staying at the time. Seems like in the past it could have been a great place, but at the moment it is dying.
Okay 4.2
Pros: nothing
Cons: they were like monkeys trying to rob you

Excellent 10.0
Pros: A very nice place and restaurant with very personal attending pleasant service. Eric the manager did everything in order for us to enjoy our stay. Nice rooms and a wonderful balcony with a view over the ocean. Great place for our family!
Good 7.5
Pros: We stayed here for 4 nights with our 2 children. The villa is quite far out of Tangalle and not in walking distance to any shops but the location on a beautiful, very quiet beach and with a pool was superb. Eric and his team were very kind and helpful. There was a mix up on our room for the first night but Eric quickly sorted this and we ended up in the ground floor 2x interconnecting deluxe rooms next to the pool. These were nicely furnished. Would recommend these for small families over the family room which appears to be in a separate building quite far from the pool and beach. Food at the Esperanza restaurant was delicious. We also had a lovely meal at Five, Teo resorts along the beach. Five also do great yoga classes.
Cons: Suggest all rooms have fridges and kettles given how far away the shops are. For the price, breakfast should definitely be included - this was our most expensive accommodation in our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka and everywhere else we got breakfast included. Beach towels would be helpful too.
Poor 1.0
Pros: The staff was really friendly. Good location - close to the beach and to the main road but the location is quiet.
Cons: The stay was far beyond our expectations. After our arrival we were brought to a near propery (a villa) without pool or a sea view, nothing in common with the pictures. After phone conversation with the manager he said that the hotel is fully booked but he'll try to find us a room for us in the hotel. We were accommodate in the hotel around 5pm (3 hours after check-in time). The room was overall clean but the bathroom was really dirty. Poor Wifi, no cable-TV and some other amenities which were present in the lisiting prior our booking. As other guests already mentioned - the prices in the restaurant are extremely high. It's no surprise that the restaurant was fully empty. We are not happy with our stay and we consider that the night rate was too high for what you get.
Okay 4.4
Well located hotel , unfortunately run down , needs complete revamping, staff not well trained as messy and having no initiative to improve situation ( many little bosses : few acting efficiently on specific issues eg. Waiting 3 hours to be provided for bathroom towels -that were not provided at all in a deluxe suite ! - meals tray left on floor in corridor for 1 night 1 day; linen supply / cleaner storage room a real awful mess left unfortunately open for the guests to evaluate the real situation behind the excessive fees paid for this hotel . Sorry but service not adequating the price
Excellent 8.0
Cons: Our villa was not in the main building with pool and restaurant. We had to leave the object and go 2-3 minutes to another building, which with small children was quite uncomfortable.
Excellent 8.0
I love the interior and exterior decoration . It is fabulous
Good 7.5
Pros: Very good location right on almost deserted beach, wild nature, very quiet place. Family room nice decorated.big patio.
Cons: Family room which we had is remote from main building and not beachfront. A bit sulky with small windows with no view. Beds short and uncomfortable. There’s kitchen with very old utensils,100 cups but no one teaspoon
Good 6.3
Pros: View and near the beach. nice pool and kind staff
Cons: location - far from Tangalle! Being on my own, i felt bored there! The bed was awful too in the first floor room - it had collapsed! my back was in pain for days after!
Excellent 8.8
Pros: At first sight this place is a bit scruffy and could do with a bit of a makeover. What sets it apart though, except for the beautiful pool and amazing beach view, is the staff. Eric and his team really tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible and meet our needs in the best way.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: A paradise close to a nice fantastic and calm beach without a mass tourism! We stayed at a large really great room and the whole place has a relaxed and nice atmosphere. The staff are really great and helpful and our family spend great days here. We really recommend this place.
