Excellent 9.6
Pros: So remote and limited internet which is a bonus if you want to get away from the world
Cons: Unfortunately we had torrential rain, just unlucky. I suggest taking some big water bottles over cause you can’t drink the tap water
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Little paradise island resort! Beautiful island, with only 13 cottages each conveniently located with peace and seaview/beach of their own. Excellent food at the little restaurant; especially lobster dinner at sunset was delicious! Full board recommended.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The management/owners are working hard to make their guests feel at home. The Chef is a real talent and pleased the foodies that we are. The Tongan evening with local chats and dances were a lot of fun too! The trees and bird are extraordinary too...
Cons: If something has to be pointed out, night masks are needed as there are no shutters nor blinders outside the bungalows. Pack accordingly.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Beautiful resort. Love the staff and the food and such beautiful views
Cons: The mosquitos were annoying but that cant really be helped.. It's the Islands so its to be expected
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Such a beautiful resort. Amazing food, beautiful rooms, lovely people, gorgeous parrots and flying foxes.
Cons: It would be nice to have electricity overnight so the fan could keep operating.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff, the fale we stayed in. The beach surrounding the whole island, the sea wildlife. It was all amazing.
Cons: The little flying insects but this was on an island resort so they were only really there when dining outside. Also the lizards, but they leave you alone and run away when you go near them. The huge bird that kept trying to take our bread, but it was funny.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The island was amazing. Such a picturesque place to relax and do nothing but walk the island each morning, watch the sunset at night and avoid the hustle and bustle of city life. The staff were very accommodating and thoughtful and there to assist at any time. The fact that they have kept it Tongan traditional and no motorised sports is fantastic. The inner island walk is relaxing and scenic. The boat crew are very friendly. The layout has been planned so well that you could be the only one on the island and have your own space but great to catch up with others on the island at the restaurant or on the beach as you walk past and wave hello.
Cons: Although a very remote island, the costs on the island are very expensive. This could be reviewed in line with the actual accommodation charges as both are very expensive where I would have expected a little less expensive in the restaurant and everything is chargeable including the internet which is very poor to say the least. I think more people would eat at the restaurant if the food was a little less expensive giving them more money overall. Saying that the food was very well cooked and served...just very expensive. A few more nibble type foods like hot chips, nuggets, cakes, spring rolls, wedges, yoghurt. The fridge in the Fale's could be a bit bigger. Some paddle boards, as advertised would be good.

Pros: I like the atmosphere and you hardly notice the staff as they blend in well with the customers. No fuss no hassle and very competent at what they do and most of all very polite and friendly. I come to Tonga very often and every time I come alone I stay here. Keep it up and will see you next time.Ho
Cons: At my age the stairs ! lol
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Good simple selection.....fresh fruit salad and home made yogurt was excellent.
Cons: No outdoor WiFi coverage in the courtyard and front open area. No WiFi roaming....need a different login per location.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Excellent restaurant with huge pizzas. Great view of the sea. Good WiFi.
Cons: Nothing. It was all good.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great staff. Great food. Great place to ride out the coronavirus lockdown.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The hotel was comfortable and convenient to our stay.
Good 7.0
Pros: Location is quite calm and quiet. Walking distance from the city. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is a nice Italian restaurant in the property.
Cons: The room is dark, no daylight coming in. One or two staff are not fully trained and need bit more hospitality related training.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Little Italy’s friendly environment, great location and beautiful view of the beach creates a memorable experience of our stay in Tongatapu.
Cons: Everything was wonderful.
Good 7.1
Pros: ocean view, nice place to stay away from home, staff members very friendly.
Cons: bed leg support was not steady so uncomfortable when sleeping, room was clean but came back few cockroaches running around on top of mini fridge and shelf’s on first night, need extra lavatory paper stock in bathroom draw, no elevator you have to carry your luggage through stairs.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very convenient location, esp. for taking ferry to outer islands. Has a homey garden beside the restaurant. Staffs are very responsible and kind.
Cons: Meals and drinks are not cheap.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: No negatives to mention, everything was EXCEPTIONAL! Would DEFINATELY recommend a stay at Waterfront Lodge and will happily go there on our next trip to Tonga! Liz the owner was a pleasure to meet as were her staff! They went above and beyond to assist in any needs we had and treated us like family ♡ The food was excellent so you could even just drop by for a wonderful meal if only in town for a short while. This is the BEST service we have had through all of our travels and we will most definitely be back! Thank you Waterfront Lodge and Cafe! ♡♡
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Cute and spacious rooms that are super clean and all have a nice balcony. I preferred the one facing the garden, actually, because its greener. The ocean view is also towards the road. Got lucky, no loud music anywhere. Food, especially breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Staff was fantastic. Hope to come back some day.
Cons: Quite far to walk into town on a hot day, if you are a taxi person - no issue there
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very charming and helpful staff Comfortable and clean room with nice linen etc The restaurant food was always presented well on the plate, fresh, tasty, good portions and responsible priced. I ate there every night as very pleasant surroundings and good service
Cons: Unfortunately there is a night club down the road from the motel that doesn’t understand noise pollution. However it did stop around 12
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staff was really helpful and accommodating with our various questions and requests. Breakfast was bountiful as is expected from a place in Tonga.

Okay 5.0
Pros: We stayed for one night, and I’m glad it was only one night. I stayed at the royal sunset resort back in 2012, the service was amazing back then, we were greeted with a tropical juice on arrival and it just felt like a real holiday. I suggested to my husband that we spend a night there just to unwind on our 2019 trip to Tonga. Unfortunately the service since 2012 has really gone down. It’s extremely over priced for what they are offering. Although the food was good, it was just so over priced. If I ever return to atataa, it will only be a day trip.
Cons: beautiful island, however the resort is so run down and customer service is almost non existent.
Good 7.9
Pros: The staff were wonderful, very welcoming and always happy to help. It was a quiet and peaceful island to visit.
Cons: The septic seep away system near our bungalow was very smelly. We could only have random hot showers, the gas system was very temperamental. At times the toilet played up also but we were able to get it going.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Great location , friendly staff, clean rooms
Cons: The property is tired and needs some attention.
Okay 5.0
Pros: Fantastic location
Cons: The facilities are not well maintained, everything there is in need of some replacement or repair. Grounds also are a bit dirty, litter next to our cabin that was there before we arrived and still there upon our departure. Staff was hard to find sometimes. Paths to cottages are dirt.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The staff were amazing. Very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable and helped make sure we enjoyed our stay. Good food too! Lovely outlook and the rooms were well equipped with everything we needed. Mosquito nets (especially over the master bed) were great and nice to have a fridge in the room too! We'd love to come back for a longer stay.
Cons: The pool was nice but does need a clean and a bit of an upgrade - but not too much of a biggie overall as was still great to be able to choose between pool and beach!
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Offering free snorkelling trips and village walks every day. Awesome to relax and unwind but also have a little cultural experience.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: location right on beach. stunning. food fabulous, fresh fish everyday. great cocktails. staff chilled but warm and friendly and so helpful. free surf skis and kayaks, free snorkelling trip every day. free pool and table tennis. awesome.
Cons: Not the cleanest but the fales are huge which made up for it. Take lots of mosquito high DEET repellent.
Okay 5.0
Pros: location was perfect
Cons: ferry times are unreliable .

Good 7.0
Pros: It was quite affordable. The bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: It appears to be focused on the Chinese market. It didn't have many English TV stations, mainly Chinese. The menu tends to be Chinese dishes. The breakfast menu is fixed and repetitive. You do seem to get a bit of noise from passing cars.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Great location and staff were super friendly. Really enjoyed my stay and had a great night sleep in a super comfy bed.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Excellent location, continental breakfast included, Chinese restaurant on site, staff were very friendly and helpful. We went here after our flight was cancelled, thinking it would only be for the weekend, ended up staying 5 nights due to further flight cancellations. Nothing was too much trouble, extending our stay, changing transfers to the airport and even last minute laundry service.
Cons: Some of the beds were a bit hard, kids complained about that. Apart from that I can’t fault the property or the service.
Mediocre 2.2
Pros: Property was 15 minute's walk from the outstanding Friends Cafe where we took all our meals.
Cons: Where does one begin? We were met by flies in our room upon checkin. No lift. The power and water and paid WiFi went off for hours and the extremely rude and arrogant general manager Teki Faletau was neither apologetic nor offering to knock one cent off the room rate for the huge inconvenience to us. He said it wasn't HIS fault. The hotel is an ugly poured concrete slab, not the "boutique hotel" as advertised. The onsite Chinese restaurant was poor at best with no Western offerings. Menu was in Chinese. Clearly a very basic Cinese businessman's hotel. Save your money and search elsewhere. Dr Steven and Janet Stanton Pasadena, CA
Mediocre 2.0
Pros: Local staff were pleasant enough but breakfast poor. Cold hard boiled eggs each day. No cereal, just tea, toast and fruit
Cons: The manager tried to extort extra money from us by attempting to back track on agreed payment in Australian dollars. The price had gone up by around $300 (Tongan) from the original bill
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Location and friendly staff.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Thanks for the services
Mediocre 3.8
Pros: Nothing much.
Cons: Not clean. Got insect and small cockroaches. Furniture is old. Bed is hard. Breakfast is boring, everyday the same. Not much cleanliness and the hotel pantry sometimes no clean up.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Shops and local market was close by
