After staying in somewhere really basic for the past 3 nights in San Francisco, this was a welcome change. I thought the place was excellent. I only stayed for one night though, so I didn't get chance to use all the facilities. At this price though, you really can't go wrong here.
Competitive price and great location. Restaurants nearby. A little dated and very little hot water in bathroom sink.
The location was great, it was really peaceful and nice to be able to walk to the beach from our hotel. Staff was friendly && the liquor store nearby was convieniet. Overall price was great, would stay again The Wi-fi was inconsistent, wouldn't stay connected to our phones for long, in and out service that kept turning off. There wasn't really that many kid friendly tv shows by the end of the night and midday.
Hands down, the best value in the area by far. Makes sense why they have so many positve reviews, great stay all around. Location is great. Restaurant/bar on site. Rooms very clean. Can't be beat at that price. As many have said before, the only thing that would really help would be AC units in the room. It was 80 when we were there, and the rooms felt stuffy in the afternoon even with windows open.
The bed was like sleeping on a cloud! For $60 AWESOME! ! Nothing everything was good.
We went with another couple. King room with balcony. Awesome stay. Clean, quiet, beach right across hwy...easy access. Would recommend and definately stay again.
Coziness, beds Continental breakfast was great but a little crowded
The premises were much better than we expected. The hotel is appointed with care and interest. Perfect location and value for a visit to Hearst Castle. Very friendly staff, nice atmohere, even the contintental breakfast was very good. We absolutely would love to stay in this hotel again. And again. The wireless network was very slow. An upgrade would definitely be recommended.
Great continental breakfast and friendly staff Our rooms window was right above the designated smoking area so even though the hotel is "non-smoking" our room smelled like smoke the entire weekend.
Very clean felt upper class good continental breakfast The only thing I really didn't like is there's not much in San Simeon to do... Don't go early thinking you can do a lot only go for Hearst Castle
Close to Hearst Castle, clean , friendly staff, free breakfast, well maintained.
I liked the location and the pool was heated It was a little dirty. The bed had something strange on it like dirt and the shower had a clump from someone who was in the room before us. It's like they were rushing to get the room clean.
I like the cleanliness and ambiance. There was a fragrant smell I noticed in the hallway. smelled very nice and comforting. The TV in the standard rooms can be updated to flat screens.
This is a really comfortable hotel and great value for money. Super friendly staff, great breakfast and 5 min drive to Hearst Castle.
A very spacious room with a fridge as well as a mini bar. Advertised "high speed internet' which was not working, toilet cistern leaked and made noise all night, reception was more interested in private phone calls than being helpful and the design of the building meant that the morning noise from the breakfast area was funnelled directly to the rooms which had poor sound deadening doors.
We visited the nearby Hearst Castle. That was the main aim of our stay in the hotel.
Proximity to castle
It's location - convenient and appealing. We had a partial ocean view but the windows were very dirty which blurred the view and the seating did not accommodate access to the view. We actually turned the settteee around!
Spacious room and very close to the beach !! My husband and I were very comfortable there with our 2 year old. We stayed for a week and appreciated having a fridge. HBO was nice to have as well. The only complaint would be that the carpets could be cleaner. They need a carpet cleaner to run through more often. Other than that we had no complaints.
all that's needed for a one-night stay on a budget.
Very close to attractions, cheap Walls so thin Other people's snoring woke me up. The slightest movement with upstairs neighbors sounded like the ceiling would cave in. Very noisy altogether. Otherwise not terrible.
Could not shower as bath water was a horrible dark yellow, so bad I took a picture. Saunas water was cold until evening even though it was supposedly open from 9 till 9. Coffee maker did not work. However beds were comfy. Needs some work! Stayed here 5 years ago and it was much nicer. No continental breakfast . Won't stay here again. Workers playing loud Spanish music in the laundry room with door open early in the morning, we could hear it in our room several doors down.
I like the location of this inn This inn is not really clean. The tower has some yellow stain on it and our blanket has a big yellow spot, which looks like a stain from period blood that was not washed out completely. There is green mold on the shower tap. I dont require the inn to be modern and luxurious but it at least has to be clean.
Indoor pool area. Proximity to beach. Staff would not accommodate request for 1st floor room even though only a few rooms were occupied at check in. No elevator so had to carry luggage up stairs and down outside deck. No breakfast without charge. Noisy between rooms--could hear conversations next door. Rattling bath fans in adjacent rooms could be heard all night.
The kids loved the indoor swimming pool. The parents loved the hot tub. We were pleasantly surprised that the family room had a microwave and refrigerator. Need to update the website that the family room has a refrigerator and microwave.
The pool was nice I could hear the people on the second floor walking back and fourth all night
Surprisingly nice considering the price. It was nice to have the pool and jacuzzi, and the room was clean. WIFI did not work in the rooms.
Location. Sheets and blankets didn't fit the bed and were old and wrinkled. Pillows were smelly. Toilet paper was stiff and unusable.
Value for money.
The room was very clean and had better furnishing than most of the hotels in its category. Staff was quite friendly.
The staff were very helpful when I had an issue with a credit card. Also they moved us to a quieter room when requested. Nice to have a sea view, unspoilt spot. Very good rooms & excellent location for a visit to Hearst Castle.
Location for Hearst Castle was excellent. Good value for money hotel.
how nice the staff was and nice rooms. n/a
Location and price Breakfast was not great; need protein like eggs please. Also, better coffee would be good.
basic motel - but clean, short walk to the coastal access, good towel service could hear upstairs neighbours, pool moderately clean, however, stayed off season
Close to Hearst Castle - super convenient in that sense. Pretty much everything else. Cell signal is terrible here if you're on AT&T so I was really relying on their WiFi to get connected. It's terrible. No elevator so if you're on the second floor keep that in mind. Ocean view? I mean, I guess technically. Don't pay extra for that. Front desk guy completely vanished in the morning - I needed him to transfer a call that was coming in. Wet carpet near the nightstand. Musty smell from the window unit. Look this is basically a $59 hotel masquerading as a $150 hotel because it can. Free markets and all. Just go in with the right expectations and you'll be fine.
We enjoyed staying in the Days Inn. The room was clean and big. We felt very comfortable to sleep in. The room price was reasonable. It's closed to the Hearst Castle. We had an impression to live in this place.
Clean, spacious rooms with comfortable king bed. WiFi signal was weak and low bandwidth. Maid walked in the room without knocking. Breakfast food ran out. Oatmeal was undercooked.
Beds were comfortable, windows open, room was clean: my top three. Spa was a great bonus. Location near Hearst Castle cannot be beat. Not much to do nor many choices for dining near by, which is not the hotel's fault, but do plan ahead and eat in Cambria or further south if coming from that direction.
We needed a hotel near to Hearst Castle and Days Inn was perfectly located and excellent value for money. We had a large king room which had been newly refurbished and continental breakfast was included too. Builders are on site as some rooms are still being refurbished but this didn't really detract from our stay.
Conveniently located. Room was decent and comfortable. Person at counter upon arrival was helpful and nice. Breakfast was minimal and took long to restock.
The location is great for the price, and we really did love the waffle machine at breakfast. While there was not a huge breakfast selection, my boyfriend and I were more than satisfied. The indoor spa was pretty nice, clean, and bubbly. The gentleman at the front desk was very accommodating when we arrived close to the spa's closing time and allowed us a little time to relax after our long drive. As for the room, it's a great value for the price. The bed was pretty comfy and there were enough pillows and blankets for the two of us. The heater worked well, and there is a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker as well. For the price, you don't expect luxury, but you at least are getting a great value for your stay. The ice machine was broken the entire stay, but no one ever did anything to repair it, even though more than one guest complained (and the solution given to get ice was to retrieve it from the bar next door... yeah because I am really going to walk in to a bar I don't know in an area I've never been just to ask for ice!). The water level in the spa was a little too low so the jets were causing the water to spout up super high, but if you sat right in front of it, you could block it. And I was slightly concerned about the cleanliness after opening up the fridge and finding someone else's food was still in there... yuck.
Location is right off the PCH. Staff is friendly. Property was not clean. Property is too old and badly needs renovation. Bed covering skirts were dirty.
No shampoo or conditioner provided. It was available in a vending machine.
Nothing The beds, towels, and blanks dirty.
Close to beach, hearst castle AC not working...
A simple motel with comfortable beds. Location was perfect for a visit to the Hearst castle. Very convenient. The gentleman at the front desk we arrived the evening prior was very friendly and helpful. Parking situation was poor. There aren't enough spaces for the hotel guests. Also the complementary breakfast voucher is a waste of time. The restaurant that is associated with the hotel that excepts the breakfast voucher has the worst service I've seen in a long time. Don't even waste your time getting the complementary breakfast and less you'd like to sit around for a while and get a poor quality danish and cold coffee while you're waiting for your milk to arrive.
Very close and convenient to the Hearst Castle and the beach. Everything in the town is super close though. Wasn't special in any way. Just another motel by the water, could have stayed in any random motel with th same experience.
Location and price
We loved the woodsy lodge style of the hotel. From our first steps on the front porch, everything had a very comfortable and homey feel. Loved that the hotel had a pool for the kids and a lounge for the adults. The rooms were a little outdated, but not bad. They were much bigger than I'd expected. The breakfast included with the room was ok. It's what you'd expect of a free breakfast (pancakes, sausage, scramble eggs, toast, plus oatmeal and cereals). Afterwards we walked the grounds and discovered the most amazing gardens and paths to explore. We wound stay here again. The rooms were a little outdated, but not bad. Overall, we were pleased.
Roomn, gardens, dining Staff in lobby were not that helpful and not courteous. Dining staff were excellent. You need to have a gift shop where incidentals can be purchased along with souvenirs.
grounds and garden were beautiful; enjoyed bungalow with patio. proximity to ocean
The staff couldn't have been kinder to the bride & groom. The guests were directed by staff and always helpful. Very relaxing environment, comfortable walking paths, and the breakfast was always plentiful and hot. Bed was super comfortable, plenty of towels and the bathroom was spacious for the shower, but not tub in the "standard" room. As a local who was here for a friends wedding, I'm very proud to highly recommend this hotel if you're in the area. Air conditioning didn't work, but that's not unusual for a hotel near the beach. The open window cooled the room during the night. Wish I had a bathtub, but it wasn't a major priority for me since I was there for only one night and focused on the wedding festivities.
Cabin-like rooms/setting Spaciousness of property Light show at holiday time Breakfasts Key negative: WIFI generally not there, both in the room and even in the lobby Mattress was generally good - a little lumpy
Beautifil rooms and gardens, very clean and comfortable, great amenities, perfect for families
Pool, breakfast, location Didn't have hot water one day, didn't have room cleaned one day.
It was steps from the beach. For the price, we were underwhelmed. The shower had bad water pressure, the included breakfast came to us still frozen, the room had a buzzing sound, and we expected more for the price of the room.
The street is full of small hotels. Close to the moonstone beach. Breakfast is included and will be delivered to your room. Ocean view room is a must try. room is clean. Free wifi. nice staff.
Friendly curtetious staff, cleanliness, location... No real dislikes
Perfect half way point between San Fransisco and LA along the PCH. I'd stay here again, beautiful view of the rocky coast and there are harbor seals that rest on the shore right in front of the hotel. About 15 minutes north their is also a viewing area for elephant seals. The room was spacious, and the bed was super comfy. There is a breakfast but we chose to go across the highway (2 minute drive) to the cute little town to have dinner and breakfast. The shower was a tad small and the hot tub was not very hot but those were minor negatives in overall stay.
It's real close to the beach and boardwalk, (right across the street!), and a short drive to downtown and some great places to eat and drink.
Not worth the price asked for the room. You made it look so plush in your computer website, I've traveled a lot in my lifetime and the place was a cheap place trying hard to look good but doesn't quite cut it!! The price per night should have been about $125-135 and not in the $200 range. I have stayed some years back in the cottages next door and they were decorated with opulence reflecting the price you pay.
Excellent mattress & pillows. Nice decor. Windows on both side let lovely breeze through the room. Good coffee and arm oatmeal for breakfast. Nice outdoor seating & picnic tables with grills. Can't beat the convenience of the board walk entry directly across the street. Well landscaped with nice variety of flowers. Noisy upstairs neighbors and no AC or fan to drown out noises or the barking dog that seemed to be alone at midnight. Breakfast could be improved with fresh fruit and warm eggs or waffle.
We've loved this place, good location and comfortable. We came back the second time for all the good reasons it offers. We like the staff, facility and great continental breakfast. It is a very good place to watch the sunset and have leisurely walk in the morning. It's a great play to stay for either a long weekend or extended stay, family or couples. Highly recommended!!!
We had a wonderful relaxing weekend and we will be back
My husband and I wanted a hotel that was inexpensive, clean and safe along the coast. The hotel is older looking but very well kept and the staff was very courteous and helpful. The breakfast offered had a decent variety and the food was good. We also had a nice view of the ocean from our room. We will stay there again. I don't recommend getting a room with a courtyard view, as all the 'balconies' there face each other which doesn't offer any real privacy. The hotel does not have an elevator if that is a concern.
Good proximity for visit to Hearst Mansion. Would have wanted better room light for a longer stay.
Any other hotel in the area would be better than this one. Breakfast was overseen by an unfriendly, cheap person. Kids were not very welcome. Location is not bad.
The staff was very helpful and freindly and the rooms were clean and spacious. The restaurant attached was excellent and reasonably priced.
the receptionist and attendant were very helpful during check in and check out. housekeepers were on time for things we requested for the room. breakfast served healthy foods and coffee fresh made. hot chocolate was also good and quantity more than enough for everyone.
Loved how close it was to Hearst Castle. We're thinking about coming back in May and we'll most likely stay here again. Could not beat it for the price.
The room needed to be remolded. There was cracked and peeling plaster throughout the room. The bedroom smelled of mold and there was a lot of mold on the shower curtain. The beds were extremely hard. The heater was very hard to control, there were gaps in the plaster around the heater, and the thermostat was extremely old and was about to come of the wall. Although I booked the room online, when I asked for a receipt at the end of the stay, the clerk argued with me and reluctantly printed a useless receipt. The continental breakfast was outside in the cold and very limited. I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.
This hotel was adequate for our one night stay near Hearst Castle.
The staff was very friendly and informed us of restaurants and things to do in the area upon check-in. The room was nice and clean, the only thing I didn't like was the pillows but to each his own.
Good choice for visitors to Hurst Castle. Friendly staff. Good choice for a one night stay. Room was clean, reasonably well appoined and comfortable.
Very comfortable room.had a TV microwave and a mini fridge. Bed was comfortable. Didn't use the pool. And the breakfast was good for a Continental. Could've used some bacon. Hot eggs or sausage maybe. Carbs tire me out. Located across from Pacific and near Hearse Castle and Cambria ,Morro Bay, a lighthouse and huge seals. Absolutely would stay here again!!!
We were visiting Hearst Castle the next day and found the hotel more than adequate to meet our one day needs. Only negative was breakfast. All carbs, no protein.
Good location across the road from a boardwalk and beach. Great staff and the motel tries to make up how dated it is by offering to do whatever they can to make your stay great, from bringing breakfast to your door to having a Kerig machine in your room. Dated rooms.
Clean, Quiet and helpful at the desk.
Wifi was down at check in. Little information was provided on what they were doing to fix the problem. Once it was up and running it worked well.
Nice cozy accommodation s
Comfortable, friendly service, right by the beach so super convenient. Gorgeous view of the water and even saw whiles. Nice pool.
Close proximity to the ocean Room need upgrade
the location was very good, parking was easy, and we were given the room we requested. I did not get to see/use the pool as I arrived too late and left early. But it was nice that there was a pool. The room was not as comfortable as I would have hoped at that price. Beds were fairly hard, bedding was cheap feeling. The room was extremely hot, but there was no air conditioning. We opened the windows, but there were no screens, so we had to risk bugs. The walls were very thin and we could hear our neighbors. The continental breakfast was available in the front office, to be eaten in your room. However even though you had to "take out" your meal, there were no lids for coffee cups... Overall I did not think it was much of a value.
Spa + firepit at sunset, fireplace, and free warm breakfast. It was close to the beach and resturants. Nothing
I was OK with the rate I was paying until I was checking in. The desk clerk was on the phone and was offering this person a "walk-in rate" $50 less than I had paid. Was a little upset.
Recuperating from a previous surgery, I was looking for some r & r and found it. Old facility, dirty, lack of space ; I wanted to leave. Excellent locale .
Room was awesome. Staff was wonderful. Can't think of any negative pertaining to our visit to the Fog catcher Inn. Although I did like the Hot Tub and Fire Pit.
