We liked Igor’s “Dear Italy” video so much that we wanted to know more about him and the experiences and relationship he has with Austria that drove him to share such an honest and refreshing Love Letter.

Igor Lys: Falling in love with Italy is basically the same thing as falling in love with life itself. From the day we are born, we love the sun, the blue sky, the smiling people around us, good food and beautiful landscapes, whatever the country.

And one of the reasons we become travellers is that we keep looking for places where the sun is brighter, the sky’s blue is more romantic, the people smile more, the food comes from even higher heaven, and the scenery makes our tears run down our cheeks.

Italy, for me, is one of those places that is the answer to the question so frequently asked, “Why do you travel so much?”

From the “medieval Manhattan” of San Gimignano to the majestic marble of the Florence Cathedral, from the streets of Rome where History itself has its permanent residence, to the beaches of Sicily where your breath is taken away by the blue of the sea – Italy is one beautiful metaphor of life.

I am myself from France, with Russian origins, and I work around the globe, and I am hungry for new travels and new experiences – but Italy is, like any real love, a sure value, a place where you return even if it’s not home

Girls’ beauty is deadly there, cars’ speed is deadly even more, but it’s a risk to take. You may live your life at 100%, but if you travel to Italy, you live it at 200%, minimum.
